Hidden gem in Fairfield CT! Delicious food and tasty drinks. Best homemade pasta I’ve had in quite sometime. Small dining inside and outside and gives really fun Italian family vibes. Service 10/10. Highly recommend! Truffle cavatelli with mushrooms / Orecchiette alla barese and Limoncello were definitely the highlights!

Google
this place is so underrated! should be as popular as other restaurants on post road. i love the outdoor seating, and the service is great and personable. not to mention food is delicious!

Google
A real old school Italian restaurant with incredible food and cocktails. We tried their pizzas, delicious! I ordered a Dirty Martini which was perfect. The outdoor seating was great even into September.

First I have to say I have been going to restaurants for many years and as soon as we walked in the waiter greeted us right away and was so nice Our dinner was fantastic I had the Pork Chop my father in law had the lamb any my daughter had the lasagna all of it was unbelievable. We also had salad and I’m a big salad guy it was cold and fresh I loved it. When the owner arrived he came over introduced himself and wanted to make sure everything was good. You definitely have to try this gem out in Fairfield Ct We definitely will be back on my go to list of restaurants

Drinks were very good. Food fell flat. Could have been the time of day or what we ordered but just did not seem that great. Calamari and Zucchini chips. Missed the mark. Cool vibe inside and out. Staff was very attentive. Will come back.

Absolutely loved our experience here! The food, the drinks, the service - all phenomenal! Tons of GF options for those that need it… and all served with some witty Premier League side banter from the owner and sons! The fried calamari and the shrimp special appetizer were so good we almost ordered seconds… but, don’t sleep on the entrees - excellent salmon and chicken dishes. Next time we plan to try the pastas!

The restaurant has a kitchy name as do the menu items but the food and atmosphere were very good. Cozy interior that is a little dark and moody. There is a nice outdoor seating area. The cocktails were well made and beautifully presented. The menu includes some middle eastern items which seemed odd for an Italian restaurant. For appetizers we had the beats, zucchini chips and Mediterranean spread. Beats were very good. Some in my group thought the zucchini was a little oily but I thought it was delicious. Would have preferred a different sauce but liked the zucchini very much. The dip trio was okay. The hummus was creamy and tasty but the other two dips were just okay and the pita, while warm, tasted a little stale. We had a cavatelli special and the one on the menu. Both were very good. The cavatelli had a great chew to it, cooked perfectly and the sauce was rich and a bit tangy. We also tried Vinny’s pizza. It was tasty. All in all we enjoyed most everything we had and the pastas were served steaming hot which should be the norm at all restaurants but isn’t.

Google
Delicious food and good service. The atmosphere is really cozy but also energetic. Would recommend the bacon wrapped shrimp. Only complaint is portion sizes for entrees are a little small, but it didn't bother me enough to knock it to 4 stars.

Yelp
Excellent conscientious service, relaxed yet fine atmosphere, and delicious carefully caringly prepared food make Gabagool something to tawlk about. Lots of gluten-free choices, and very accommodating. The light, crispy gluten free sticks of mutz (Beaded and Fried Mozzarella Sticks served with Marinara Sauce ) were the best I've ever had. Although I took half of the generous portion of orecchiette alla barese (Sausage, Broccoli Rabe, Garlic Oil Sauce ) home. They wound up being eaten for a late night desert. I guess it makes sense to pair fine food with fine wines.

Yelp
Wow!! Absolutely loved this gem. Never heard of it until a friend recently invited me to happy hour. We sat at the bar, backlit by The Sopranos and Goodfellas playing on the TVs. The space was classy but still casual enough, and cozy. I ordered the Howyoudoin' off the cocktail menu and the gnocci in a pink sauce; also shared the rice balls; absolutely loved everything. The concept of the restaurant is totally relatable for my Italian American family and I find it very funny - cannot wait to bring them in here to try. All staff were super nice. The merch is funny too.

Yelp
Antonio and his team are the most welcoming in town. At Gabagool we are never disappointed, the food made by a phenomenal italian chef is absolutely amazing. The menu is varied and has some of the tastiest (and funniest names) dish options. Booking tables is easy and you feel right at home when walking in. Dont hesitate to give Gabagool a try, it's a must in Fairfield!

Yelp
I've driven past this place on the way to the beach multiple times but never stopped. Finally did and I'm so glad! Let me start by saying this food is really good. All of it was clearly made fresh and all of it from scratch. The zucchini chips and brussels were excellent, as was the gnocchi with the vodka sauce. The building is an old house and the outdoor space has about 15 tables, completely covered with sides that look like they would come down if the weather required it. Place has been open for about a year and a half and after going, I'll be back! Hope other come too because it really is worth it. Attentive service, good food, and for a fair price; can't ask for more!

Yelp
Drinks were really good. Food was not worth the $300 tab. I feel like the food wasn't fresh seemed to be frozen/ premade. Service was friendly and quick. Wine selection was not what was to be expected from a "wine bar"

Yelp
Love the ambiance although in cold weather the enclosed porch can be on the chilly side. Service is very good and there's a decent selection of beer and wine. Food is very good We had a salad with Salmon and another with chicken. We also had gnocchi and for an entree we had meatballs and octopus. We're very much looking forward to returning and if the experience continues to be as good as the first visit, I'll be upgrading to 5 stars. Really enjoyed our visit to Gabagool and I'm sure you will as well!

Yelp
In a nutshelll if you liked the previous iteration of this restaurant you'll like Gabagool. Same owner and some menu items carried over. It's maybe a bit more casual than it used to be but definitely some upgrades along with the repairs. Maybe a year and a half ago they the had a major flooding issues and had to do extensive repairs and in the process they made it nicer. The food is nominally Italian and Mediterranean and generally delicious. The eggplant app and the Mediterranean spreads are my favorites but there are plenty of other good options. The menu isn't huge but lots of good things to choose from. We were there on a Saturday night and the place was pretty crowded and the servers were working hard but service was still good. Like the menu, the wine list is not overwhelming but good options, at least for me. The atmosphere is generally fun but it's definitely not like a sports bar or anything. It's nice without being snooty or taking itself too seriously. As you might expect it's not inexpensive but definitely fair for what you get. The parking lot is tight but there's a big free public lot across the street which is a big plus. I've been coming here for years and I'm glad to see the latest incarnation is as good as previous.

Yelp
Gabagool was a fun spot for a weeknight dinner with my friends. Although the food wasn't my favorite, the service was great and so were the drinks.

Yelp
Went to Gabagool for a girls night with my friends visiting for the weekend. It was good, but I wouldn't rush back. We were seated in the outdoor area. It was heated which was nice. Our waiter wasn't very attentive throughout the night and it wasn't very busy. We got the fried calamari and the ball tasting to start. . The calamari was good as was the dipping sauce. I'm picky about meatballs, but I enjoyed the meatballs the most out of all of the balls, lol. Our entrees were the chicken parm, chicken milanese, and the shrimp scampi. I had the shrimp scampi and it must have been waiting in the back before coming out to our table because it was not too warm and was pretty dry. I'd maybe give it another try at the bar and check out those vibes but other than that it was a "just okay" experience!

Yelp
Great food, great bar and, for Fairfield, great parking!! Antonio has built an amazing menu and team at Gabagool. Seasoned (pun intended) veteran chef, Vincenzo, in the kitchen is getting it done. The meatballs are worth the trip alone but everything is good. The happy hour is great too. Tell Dan at the bar the Chris sent you!

Yelp
Great happy hour menu. Loved the wine offerings and it was nicely decorated for the holiday. The apps were also good and the service felt like people you could be friends with. They also gave us a limenchello shot at the end which was amazing!

Yelp
Really enjoyed their happy hour with good drink deals and food- great service and ambiance!

Jean L.

Yelp
The food is spectacular. I am definitely going back. The drinks are great and even if it's not On the menu they will try and make it for you. It's listed as a wine bar but it is a great restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised!

Michele K.

Yelp
what a lovely little gem of a restaurant. Tried it for the first time last night. There were 6 of us and everyone of us thought their meal was delicious. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizers and it was a real treat. My main was the Chicken Milanese and it was the best I've had anywhere.. so thin and crispy! Don't let the kitschy menu names fool you. This is a seriously good Italian restaurant with impeccable service! Highly recommend!

Lynne N.

Yelp
The ambiance here is always perfect. Not too dark or too bright, ...great and always tasteful background music that's not too loud or too soft...they always nail it with creating a great atmosphere. And the phenomenon food is the icing on the cake. Its become my new favorite place in Fairfield

Yelp
The food was good. I recommend ordering all the small plates and share The downside is they close early

Yelp
We tried Gabagool last night and I really enjoyed it. Sat at the bar for happy hour. We ordered the eggplant rollantini and the sauce was really good! It had great flavor and the eggplant was cooked perfectly. Then we tried the pita with 3 different dips. My favorite was the feta dip. I will definitely come back and try an entree. My only problem was I wish the happy hour had more drink options!! It was to limited.

Kate D.

Yelp
Gabagool is such a great neighborhood spot! We keep going back for the delicious drinks and tasty food. Comfortable bar seats. Owner Antonio treats customers like family. Professional staff, too. Ambiance is inviting and cozy. Everyone who goes loves it!

Yelp
We had the steak frites which was a special ordered medium rare, came overdone. Waitress didn't check on us till at least 10 minutes after plates hit the table when she did I pointed out that the steak was overcooked and she agreed. She was pleasant and offered to redo it but at that point we were already 10 minutes in and the place was getting loud and crowded. The men had two separate chicken dishes which were also very chewy and tough, hard to cut through the chicken. For the 3 of us the meal was sub par. The lamb shank was good although a pretty plain plate with shank and mashed potatoes. Appetizers were nothing to write home about we had Cesar and octopus but the octopus dish was mainly potatoes. Drink were good but nothing extravagant. Will not return. Same owner as Toto's and before restaurant was flooded we had gone 2 separate occasions and the food started to just be sub par and we stopped going. Sad to say with a close to $250 bill and a very below average meal, we will not be back.

Yelp
This place is great. The decor is awesome, the music is great, and the food is delicious! The line items on the menu are also hilarious. It's such a fun nod to Italian Americans. I can't wait to come back. I had the gnocchi and it was fantastic.

Edward S.

Yelp
Rice balls with mayo! ... nope! So we tried the place last night, had a couple of drinks (well done) and tried the fried zucchini (decent although I prefer the tzatziki amped up please!) and the rice balls came with a purple sauce that tasted exclusively like Helmen's and not the "Kalamata aioli" (I had to ask). AND they did not salt the rice balls after coming out of the frier (sacrilege). Also a strange decoration theme... no reason to return.

Donna P.

Yelp
Recently opened. The Old Toto's, but totally redone. New atmosphere, new menu...casual fair and a ton of fun! Antonio, is wonderful ... (Owner & host) I cannot say enough good things about him. He truly makes you feel like family. I shared many small plates with my party and there wasn't one thing that I could find negative. Absolutely delicious. Can't wait to return MANY times. Right down to the background music, ANtonio Nailed it.

Michael D.

Yelp
First impressions... Seated on the back enclosed patio, music was way too loud. Had to ask for bread to start, it was cold and at least a few days old. Gross, need to find another baker or vendor. Calamari was very good as was the chick parm/pasta. The pizza was soggy and disappointing. Overall, much better choices nearby for Italian and at better prices. Will not return.

Yelp
Great small, boutique restaurant feel with truly tasty and well prepared small and large plates alike. A seat at the bar was a lovely experience with delightful bartenders Diana and Evan, who are clearly happy with their new situation at Gabagool.

Kate B.

Yelp
Gabagool hosted a luncheon following a celebration of life event at a nearby funeral home. As a member of the family, we came from out of town and had never been there before. We are thrilled with the polite, efficient service as well as the delicious food. Thank you so much for your excellent care and service. Kate Benson

Yelp
This place is great. Antonio is wonderful and makes you feel like family. The food is good and the desserts are truly home made.. try the Tiramisu.

Jim T.

Yelp
Great food, delightful servers and bartenders, you'll just have to put up with the owner Antonio!

June B.

Yelp
We are so happy Antonio is back in our neighborhood! The menu is amazing and we are glad to see our favorites made a return. The restaurant looks incredible and the hospitality and good conversation remains the same. A++
