After perusing several food blogs and lists, I deemed Gabee worth a visit. (P.S. After phonetically saying "Gabee" I wondered if it's the same as the Taiwanese dialect word for "coffee" which I thought was a cute touch.)
Inside, it's not a particular nice or memorable space. In a country where tea and coffee shops run the gamut and so many of them are standouts, Gabee runs on the more chill side. There is a stark 'outdoor' patio in the back and a few tables inside.
Of course I wanted to order their famous sweet potato coffee: a layered drink with sweet potato paste, espresso, frothed milk, sweet potato chip, whipped cream, garnished with coffee bean and sweet potato slivers. It was served in a martini glass and was...delicious. I read somewhere it's Taiwan's version of a Pumpkin Spice Latte which I could see, but this was somehow so much better than that. Not overly sweet, not overly sweet potato-y...the taste profile was just on point. Also, my dad ordered the iced Cantaloupe Coffee Latte which may sound strange, but something about the slight milky look/texture of this matched the incredibly yummy taste. Also not too sweet.
Glad we stopped by.
