LA’s New Restaurant Openings - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Meet the latest restaurant from Seoul that’s opened in K-town. Gabin is a fancy Korean barbecue spot with gold-rimmed grills and a tight menu of meats for the table, including brisket, galbi, bulgogi, and pork ribs. There are other headliner dishes that you wouldn’t normally find at KBBQ, like galbijjim and raw marinated crab, and the daily lunch specials seem to be the best bang for your buck, with gomtang, beef tartare, and grilled fish entrees." - cathy park

Great food and service. I highly recommend for a nice lunch/dinner. Definitely coming back. • General Experience & Service: 👍 I dined alone as I randomly stumbled here after running an errand in the same building, but was promptly seated. The service staff and host were swift with helping, courteous, and friendly without being overbearing. Though it was their lunch rush, I was not hurried even as a lone diner. • Food: 👍 I ordered their signature Pyongyang Naengmyeon (평양냉면; Pyongyang style Korean cold noodle) and Korean beef tartare (육회). It was my first time eating PY Naengmyeon but was pleasantly surprised by its subtle but still gently flavorful broth. The beef tartare was fresh (slightly thawed, ready to be eaten) and was a good portion for an appetizer (it’s a nice restaurant so the price is as expected). Kinda spicy but I enjoyed the heat as they complemented the natural sweetness of the meat and sliced pears. Both dishes were delicious as well as their complimentary banchan/side dishes. The savory pancakes as banchan were especially delicious and freshly fried. Not too oily, perfect balance of dough and veggie/seafood. Yum! • Parking: Valet available in the private lot onsite. It’s $5 via Venmo, but they’ll take cash (maybe $4, but could be $5).

Just love, love, love this new restaurant. This is my favorite go-to restaurant in LA. I loved their appetizers, beef, and pyung yang nangmyun. It is a great place to take your clients, friends and family.

The side dishes, the plating, the meat quality, neng myun were 10/10! Would def recommend. If you want to try authentic korean food, a must try.

I heard about this place from one of my coworkers and I had to stop by and try it out! As soon as we walked in I was blown away by the decor. I’ve never been to any KBBQ with such a clean and modern feel to it. The atmosphere was next level! As for the food I wasn’t sure what to order so the waitress recommended I try their Bibim Neng Myum and I’m sure glad I listened to her. My wife ended up getting their lunch Mul Neng Myum with galbi. The galbi was full of flavor and very tender. I tried asking the waitress how long they had to marinate it to get it to be so tasty but she wouldn’t give up the secret. I’ll definitely be back. The place is very clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is amazing plus you get all these sides with it as well. Definitely worth the price! Thank you Gabin!! See you soon!

I was really excited to try Pyongyang Naengmyeon at Gabin, but the dining experience was honestly disappointing. The broth was bland and lacked the signature clean, beefy depth that makes Pyongyang-style naengmyeon special. Instead, it had an odd, almost musty flavor and a strong MSG-like aftertaste that lingered unpleasantly. It didn’t taste like proper meat based broth at all. The meal was presented in a Japanese-style bento set, which looked nice, but felt more about presenation than substance. The side dishes were minimal. It feels like the focus here was more on interior design and presentation than on delivering truly satisfying food. I would not come back.

I visited this newly opened restaurant for lunch after hearing some buzz, but unfortunately, I won’t be returning. Though they advertised their noodles as Pyongyang Naengmyeon, it seems they simply increased the buckwheat content in the noodles—this alone doesn't make it authentic. The broth tasted like a diluted mix with dongchimi, lacking the depth and clarity expected from proper naengmyeon stock. As for the barbecue, I wouldn't go back for the meat either. The galbi and bulgogi were of such poor quality that even a local grocery store would likely offer better. Claiming that the restaurant is still in its early days can’t justify such disappointing execution. It’s clear that a significant amount was spent on interior design, seemingly trying to mimic places like Daedo Sikdang or other trendy restaurants—but the food simply doesn’t live up to the ambiance. One of my companions ordered the bulgogi ssambap set. Shockingly, the bulgogi was brought out only after they had finished all the side dishes and the rest of us had completed our meals. That alone speaks volumes. The place was crowded, likely due to the recent opening, but sadly, I have no intention of returning.

This is my third time visiting Gabin. I didn’t like Pyongyang cold noodles before, but after trying them here, I started to like them. Gabin’s cold noodles are different – the broth tastes like meat and the noodles feel clean and healthy. The side dishes are also simple and match well with the food. The staff are very friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect – I would give it 10 out of 10. They even cut the cold noodle galbi into small pieces, which was very thoughtful.

Yelp
By far the best Korean cold noodle in the States! Broth is as close to the one you could get at renowned noodle restaurants in Korea. I also believe the noodles are freshly made at the kitchen. Definitely will visit many more times for other dishes as well!

Yelp
It was amazing!!!! 등심 was so good. I highly recommend it. I've never experienced this type of kbbq!!

Yelp
i wanted to sooo bad gatekeep this place but for my girl paris (one of the waiters who work there) here i am writing my review like i promised hehe this place is truly my fave korean restaurant in ktown now. not only is the service amazing but the quality of the meat, side dishes, even the RICE is amazing. the workers always cook the meat to PERFECTION for u and the side dishes are literally so delicious. the KIMCHI ALSO is wow. SO GOOD!!! i've tried almost their entire menu at this point. their pyeongyang naengmyun is delicious esp with the marinated kalbi at the end and the galbitang is also delicious. its so cool how they do their own little twist to just traditional korean dishes. my favorite things to order is their ggotssal, marinated kalbi, soybean paste soup, galbitang, and pyeongyang naengmyun! i noticed that all my favorite korean restaurants start decreasing in quality once they get really popular.... i REALLY hope it doesnt happen to this place....

Yelp
Come and try it yourself! Won't be disappointed. We came here for a dinner tonight after a disappointed cold noodle from other place Everything was amazing and the superb service!

Yelp
We've been here 3 times since it opened, and we've had good experience all three times. Their lunch specials are great deals. It averages about 30 dollars and you get a combo of different popular items. They even offer lunch specials on weekends, which is awesome. We tried the galbi + naengmyun (can't go wrong with that), bulgogi + bibimnaengmyun, the grilled fish combo, and the ssambap combo. All were tasty, but if you want the naengmyun, which is their specialty, I'd go with galbi or bulgogi. Service has been great all three times. Their banchan is very good and offers interesting options such as burdock root japchae and goong-chae (stem lettuce). Also, I have to give them props for bringing out beautifully well cooked rice. Fluffy, glistening, perfectly textured white rice is hard to come by in a busy restaurant. Lastly, their Pyongyang naengmyun is definitely worth trying. Pyongyang naengmyun is known for a meat based broth and it is not sweet or salty. If you like the Yuchun style cold noodles, you'll be very disappointed, but if you want to try the Pyongyang style (so named since it originated from the city in North Korea), def give this place a chance. It can get strangely addicting. It hasn't been too busy that you have to wait, which is another plus. Parking lot is available but you have to valet. A good option for family dinners in Ktown, we will be back for sure.

Yelp
Now this is the spot if you want it all, the noodles , bbq, banchan, quality and service. I already been here a couple times and never disappoints. There's only 2 noodles places like this and obviously this is the better one, although the other is good also.

Yelp
Keep inviting friends to this new restaurant in the Omni Plaza in Korea Town. Beautiful table setting, excellent and friendly service by Paris, our server from Korea. She is very attentive and I felt like a VIP. Lunch special had plenty in quantity and was very tasty.

Alisa Y.

Yelp
Having lunch with my close friends at Gabin Korean Grill for the 1st time, we order lunch special Pork Bulgogi w/ seasoned soybean paste set. Love the bulgogi pork, you gotta wrap it with the lettuce, then adding the seasoned soybean paste, it is so yummy. I also love the side dishes and daikon soup that comes with the meal. The restaurant is clean and the seating is comfortable, with the welcoming atmosphere. Very good dining experience here & Good service. Thank you.

Yelp
They tried to be an upscale kbbq restaurant but failed. They first failed with the basics - they must have left out the sauces cus the salt was all stuck together into one chunk and the wasabi was dried up.. Portions were small. They said the feast of gabin would be good for 3 people.. but it was definitely not for 3 people. It would be good enough portion for 2 women on a diet. They areally need to do something about their staff/service. They forget to add our orders in the system, forget to bring out the basic banchans, servers barely came by so we had to cook our own meat.. overall, it was very unorganized with untrained staff. Our meal lasted more than 2 hours cus of all the waiting time. We even overheard other tables complaining about when they're going to receive their orders. Nengmyun was okay. Meat was pretty decent and the banchans were above average. But i'm not sure if i would want to return.

Yelp
I know they recently opened so there are lots of kinks they have to sort out. Went for lunch with group of friends today. Menu selection on ssambap said meat or fish but when we asked about it they said they have only "meat" today and it varies by day to day. Also forgot to place one of our orders and when it came out it was little burnt and presentation was not all there. Galbi was not really marinated and it was very dry. On a good note, side dishes were delicious. Parking in this plaza sucks even with valet.

Youngsun J.

Yelp
Came for Sunday lunch and had the cold noodles with galbi combo and the grilled fish set Everything was super tasty! The Pyongyang cold noodles were amazing -- super refreshing with a clean, deep broth. The galbi was tender and matched perfectly with the noodles, and the fish was cooked just right. My daughter loved it. Nice vibe, good service, and good value. Would totally come back!

Yelp
This is a vegetarian review--- I went to meet friends for dinner. Our server was fine, but did not seem to understand my dietary restrictions. He went back and forth from the kitchen to ask if a certain dish was vegetarian friendly and ultimately recommended I order vegetable jeon a la cart and have a bowl of rice with some of the ban chan (a lot of which has fish/seafood in it) for my meal since changing elements of other dishes would "alter the flavors". Which, sure I guess that's vegetarian but not really a meal. All the naeng myeon has animal broth which does not make it vegetarian friendly. I had to flag down a different server to order the perilla oil mix noodles (with the sliced beef on the side) which was vegetarian friendly. And it was okay but I wouldn't bother getting it again hence the 2 stars. So if you or your loved ones do not eat meat, enjoy the 1 option they have. It would be nice if they had just 1 more vegetarian friendly dish (maybe a soup noodle?) to expand on their menu.

Yelp
Awsome Food, Just Taste Right Excellent Service, Attentive Manager so efficient, Kind, Proffessional Can't complain

Jin L.

Yelp
Delicious, perfectly seasoned food. I had the bulgogi and bibim naengmyun lunch set. Generous portions. The naengmyun was very light-almost like soba. The banchan were varied and excellent. Our server, Paris, was very helpful-gave us special take out containers for our leftovers. Highly recommended!

Hyung K.

Yelp
Every single banchan is a true inspiration. I am moved by every dish which is a completion by itself.

Yelp
I came here for lunch with a friend. All the food, including the side dishes, was clean and delicious. The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was great. I'm thinking of coming back this weekend with my mother.

Yelp
I've been to the restaurant twice now - for both lunch and dinner - and can't say enough good things! Premium cuts of meat and delicious, plentiful banchan that you won't see at other kbbq places in K-town. Everything tastes fresh and well-balanced and not overly seasoned to hide sub-par ingredients. They have special ingredients that they get direct from Korea too. Their noodles for nengmyeon are made in-house. Whether you're doing a lunch set or a meat combo set for dinner, the food is abundant! It's a sleek, brand new space, so dining in is really comfortable. And I have to give 5 stars for the service because both times I went, everybody greets you warmly and is so attentive throughout the meal. Star server Paris really makes the experience special for everyone!
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
One of the better Korean bbq place in town. Amazing service from Paris, our server. She made the food taste even better! Quality of meats and "Banchan" was clean and tasty especially, radish kimchee is one of the better ones I've tasted in a longtime. Pair it with cold noodle and you can't go wrong! Thank you Paris!
google avatar

Amber L.

Yelp
Wonderful dining experience! Service and food was great. Food is presented very nicely. Table was nice and big for all the plates. I like the dishes they use for the banchan, and they tasted very high quality. The seafood pancake was served crispy, hot, and fresh! Can't wait to come back and try more items.

Diane K.

Yelp
So delicious and good and high quality meats & nice ambience & attentive service. We loved all of side dishes and beef combo. But, if you want to refill kimchi, they charge $3. Overall: My Mom and I loved this place.

Misikga Mina F.

Yelp
I tried the Pyongyang cold noodles at Gabin. It feels like an upscale Korean spot, but honestly, the food was mediocre. The plating was super refined, and the housemade noodles were fresh and chewy, probably the best part of the meal. But the broth didn't deliver. It lacked depth and that rich, meaty flavor you expect from real Pyongyang naengmyeon. Instead, it had this weird chalky aftertaste. Also, the portions were pretty small, and even the side dishes felt lacking. I wasn't full afterward. Great vibes and visuals, but the taste just didn't live up to it. Hope you have a better experience than I did.

Yelp
Expensive, untrained servers. The server put our meat on the grill and forgot about it. Ended up burning our meat. We had to flip it and cut it ourselves when it is not even an all you can eat k bbq place. It is pretty pricey. One cold noodle is $19 and one person serving of the meat starts from $65 AND the server burnt it. The server saw that it was burnt and did not say anything so we told the server that the meat is burnt. Then the server asked "are you guys okay?" ...... what is that question...? did not apologize, did not say what they can do about it, nothing... when i heard that question i lost my words... There were only 4 tables including our table. It was not even busy but they burnt it. Food is just ok but would not come for this price & service. Rather go somewhere else.

April M.

Yelp
The quality of foods are off the charts and the very clean side dishes are really good!
google avatar

Hyunjoon L.

Yelp
My first time at this location and When I entered the restaurant, the atmosphere felt like I was at art gallery. The quality of the meats is on another level. Came on a Thursday around 3:00PM and were seated within 5 minutes. The Two of us shared a Beef rib, Prime beef, cold Noodle and beef tartare. I was concerned it wouldn't be filling but it left us feeling stuffed! The banchan and service were great, All of the meats were so tender and cooked well. The cold noodle and beef tartare were my favorite, and I loved the Service, they were very kind! I would definitely come back next time When I'm in the area! The price is reasonable given the exceptional quality.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant on Wednesday (2 days ago), and the ambience was so warm and inviting! The food? Absolutely incredible. If you're craving something refreshing for this summer, you have to try their Spicy Bibim Naengmyeon and Pyongyang Mul Naengmyeon were both incredibly flavorful and hit the spot perfectly! And trust me, it's not a full experience unless you get their BBQ. The meat was tender and juicy, definitely I would recommend the Galbi Oh, and not to mention, the steamed egg was a total showstopper. So jiggly, soft, and delicious. It deserves a spot on your must-try list! You know the food was amazing when you forgot to take any photos But I'm planning to come back, and next time, I promise to take photos before digging in. Yum yum yum!

Ziv K.

Yelp
The neatly prepared and clean side dishes were absolutely delicious. Although the Pyongyang naengmyeon had a slightly different style from the traditional version, it's definitely top-tier naengmyeon for the U.S

Jay Y.

Yelp
I've had stir-fried octopus many times before, but it was always too spicy and overwhelming. At Gabin, though, the flavor was nicely balanced mild but still delicious. After eating for a while, I discovered there were noodles hidden underneath. The thin, delicate noodles were soaked in the sauce, and mixing them in made it incredibly tasty. The cold noodle soup was also a surprise. I usually add vinegar or mustard to enhance the flavor, but this one didn't need any of that it was already perfect as is. The taste wasn't bland at all, and the seasoning was spot on. It didn't feel like your typical cold noodles. If I hadn't been so full, I definitely would've ordered another bowl.

Hyosun J.

Yelp
Everything about this place was amazing! The quality of the meat was top-notch--super fresh and flavorful. All the side dishes were delicious, and I loved how everything was served in such clean and beautiful dishes. Even the plate with the fresh veggies looked so pretty and well put together. We ordered the "Hansang Combo" and it was more than enough for two adults and two kids. The portions were generous and we all left full and happy. To finish off the meal, we had the Pyongyang naengmyeon, which was seriously the perfect ending--light, cold, and super refreshing. The broth was clean and not too salty, just the way I like it. The interior was really clean and beautifully decorated, with a modern but cozy vibe. It felt like the perfect place for a family dinner or even a small celebration. We'll definitely be back!

Claire W.

Yelp
Sooooooooo good! One of the best Cold Buckwheat Noodle (Naengmyeon) place I've ever been in LA. It is really hard to find a good Naengmyeon place in LA. I tried several but this one definitely stands out, very authentic. They brought the entire equipment from Korea to create the authentic taste. The meat was also super good too. Amazing quality of meet. All their sidedish is really good too. I'll definitely be going back to try the lunch set too.
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
The ambiance was great. Nobody was at the counter and I just stood there waiting for 6-7 minutes. A small apology from the host when he finally showed up, would have cost him nothing and would have made the wait unmemorable, but there was none. This was the first indication that I was at a "pretending to be upscale, but not upscale quality" kind of a restaurant. We got the feast of Gabin and pyeongyang naengmyeon. The meat wasn't particularly amazing. One of the servers burnt the marinated galbi so much that we had to cut away the burned chunks to make them edible. The banchan selection and quality was top notch. The soy bean stew was also one of the best I've had at a restaurant. Still, the price couldn't be justified - especially with the meat's portion being on the smaller side. We drove up from Irvine so the long drive through the traffic and the built-up anticipation probably amplified the feeling of disappointment, but we probably won't be back when there are so many other great options in ktown. I'm editing my review and adding one more star to account for the fact that my clothes did not smell like bbq thanks to the smoke suction system that worked extremely well.
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
Maybe I had a high expectation on this restaurant but it was still good, the ambience was so modern and calm, it would be a great place to gather as a family and for a meetings !

Eric T.

Yelp
New spot, clean and modern decor. Food quality and presentation equally refined. Think Korean meets Japanese bento. If you want great Korean food with a more sophisticated atmosphere, this is it. Bulgogi + nengmyun lunch combo is perfect amount of food. Tasty and fresh.

Joonseo K.

Yelp
Galbi was so good. The employee name called paris in gabin, she was so nice and careful with custome.

Jihye O.

Yelp
Walked in at 11:25 AM not realizing they opened at 11:30. Someone who looked like the owner saw us but ignored. Off to a cold start. When we finally sat down, the manager(woman with black suits) said that the galbi I wanted was already sold out. But I saw it being served a lot to other table throughout the meal. That made no sense. Appetizer came after the main, with no explanation until it was finally brought out. Main dishes (Pyeongyang naengmyeon and bulgogi) were underwhelming and disappointing. The mung bean pancake? Overcooked, barely any mung beans tasted more like a kimchi pancake. We asked for a high chair for our baby, but they completely forgot and we never got to use it. Service was slow, disorganized, and careless. Not worth a second visit.

Yelp

Yelp
Food quality and preparation are superb! Two thumbs up for sure!! I would definitely come back here and bring my loved ones to taste their food. The staffs were very attentive and dedicated. There was no line and very quiet inside which was double plus. Highly recommend!

Michelle L.

Yelp
The atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious every dish was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Worth a repeat visit!

Yunhee C.

Yelp
We were very excited to try the new Korean BBQ restaurant in Koreatown. Presentation was great and all the side dishes were delicious. Iced cold draft beer was a good combination with grilled meat. Service was great except they couldn't comeback to cook the meat properly. They were little too busy at that time. The pyongyang noodle has clean broth taste and perfect for finishing the dinner. I would com back, I wish the portion was little bigger for the combo.

Soa K.

Yelp
This new Korean bbq restaurant is my new go-to restaurant to take my clients, friends and family. Everyone I took thoroughly enjoyed all the foods, ambiance and service. I personally like raw beef, pancakes, kotssal, mulnangmyun, and cilantro gomtang. All their side dishes were amazing as well. I highly recommend this place!

J S.

Yelp
Walked in right at 11:30 AM when they opened, and the lady manager tells us they're already out of galbi. On a Saturday, at opening. What kind of Korean BBQ place doesn't have galbi ready when they open for the weekend rush? We were confused but gave them the benefit of the doubt--huge mistake. Not only did our 전 take forever to come out, but when I asked the manager about it, she was completely dismissive. No apology, no urgency, just a cold "it's coming" and walked off like we were bothering her. Zero professionalism. For someone in charge, she had the worst attitude I've ever experienced in a restaurant. Meanwhile, our server never checked on us once during the entire meal. No water refills, no "how's the food," nothing. We felt completely ignored. And to top it all off--we saw other tables getting galbi while we sat there wondering what happened. So what was the deal? Did the manager lie to us? Did she just not want to serve it to us? Either way, it's insulting. We spent over $300 on this meal. For that kind of money, I'd rather go to 박대감네, where the service is respectful, the food is consistent, and they don't lie to customers about what's available.

Jiah K.

Yelp
Food had no flavor, service was not good. The broth was so bland we had to add seasonings ourselves and the side dishes were just as flavorless.

Joonie K.

Yelp
Clean, delicious Korean food - Lunch sets were picturesque with just enough side dishes to complement the savory cold noodles. Meats were of the highest quality. All worth it! Yuuuuummmmmmmm!!!

Susie O.

Yelp
I visited for lunch on the first few days of its grand opening and I thought it was great. I loved that there are lunch sets which meant every person gets their own banchan set. My group got the Mul Neng Myun with Bulgogi as well as the Bibim Neng Myun with Galbi and I would recommend the Mul Neng Myun with Galbi set set if I was to do it again. Know that their noodles is a hybrid of soba and traditional Neng Myun so it does taste healthier which worked for me. The broth was great and the whole presentation and ambience is more elevated than your average Korean restaurant which makes me feel like I can bring people for business meetings also. On the day I went, the service was excellent. Lastly, they offer the Gae Jang dish from Gebang restaurant (family restaurant) so if you go to this restaurant you can get that as a bonus with other options where as at Gebang, you only can get crabs pretty much.

J K.

Yelp
They really need to train their employees better. Extremely slow service + they took our orders wrong + our food got served to the wrong table... it was a disaster. To make matters worse, their portion size is TINY for the steep price and mediocre quality meat. We also overheard other tables complaining about their orders not coming out. Perhaps they should've invested more time into training their employees before rushing to open. Only thing that was good were their side dishes.

Andrew L.

Yelp
Handmade noodles. Payingyang noodles hard to find. Delicious. Side dishes awesome. Nothing more to say.

Tommy L.

Yelp
I remember this place was a bbq place before.. brighter interior.. food takes a while to come out, the noodles are very good .. has a healthy taste to it, but the meat on the lunch combo came first and was cold by the time the noodles came.. wish there wasn't such a lag. Bbq meat is so so.. slightly under cooked, but the main is the noodles.. service ehhh.. guess the are still trying to get the system down
