Google
Wonderful staff, service, and environment. We had our order taken immediately and were explained how to order since this was our first time. We were told the food is made fresh daily and it definitely tastes that way. The tortillas tasted fresh with half corn/flour. The chicken and beef were well seasoned and tender. The sauces and sides like the corn bread and spinach mushroom were well seasoned and hot. The enchiladas were above expectation. I’ve never had a more delicious enchilada in my life. I will be back for more!

Google
I dismissed this restaurant for too long! We came by for the featured Poolboy Taco and it's one of the best things we have ever had! Their 50/50 tortillas are to die for and everything was so fresh and flavorful. We were helped by Julio who was just such a pleasure and so helpful for our first visit. We can not wait to come back!!

Google
Delicious enchiladas, and an innovative restaurant concept. It's got a small menu, but they do what they do very well. enchiladas, tacos, and soup are available here as well as a few sides (cornbread, chips and salsa, jack mashed potatoes) The beef in the beef enchiladas is deliciously marinated, and they can melt cheese right on top of your enchiladas! Staff was respectful to all customers and employees are more casual with each other. They seem like a good team. The space is pretty basic, but clean. There weren't many people when I came but that was likely because it was 1hr before close.

Google
We absolutely love Gadzooks! The food is always amazing, and the staff are warm and welcoming. Stop by for lunch and enjoy their $15 lunch special, which includes an entrée (2 enchiladas or tacos), a side, and a drink. You can dine in or take it to go!

Google
We decided to go since the place was close to us, but it really surprised us. It's delicious, the tortillas taste great, and the meats and sauces are all delicious. Recommended.

Google
This was my first time at Gadzooks. I was really excited to finally try it. I was a bit let down because the food was so salty that it was difficult to eat. I gave my soup to my son. I had also gotten a salad. The mushroom topping was incredibly salty. I think for me to enjoy this meal, the salt would need to be at least reduced by 75%. I ordered the soup and salad. It was a lot of food. I think the salt made it hard to finish, but it was also very heavy. If I were to go back, I wouldn't get both. I'd choose one or the other. My husband got the enchiladas. He got two, and it was more than enough. He was full and didn't finish his meal. He said his was salty too. I did have a couple of bites of his and liked his better than my salad and soup. The customer service was really good. I had a lot of questions and she answered everything with patience and told me what flavors go well together. I appreciate her help.

Google
So delicious! It was our first time in, and honestly we were a bit confused and overwhelmed by the choices and what to do- but the gentleman behind the line took us through the process in an easy to understand way and I love the dine-in bowls that are put directly into the fire oven to cook. My boyfriend and I shared the 3 enchilada plate (pork, chicken, and jack potato) with both red and green sauce and it was delicious!! I’m also now obsessed with this corn chowder soup, and love that he suggested to put the potatoes on the bottom of it. The only 4 stars was on atmosphere, I wish they would have some light music playing. But if you haven’t tried it yet, don’t be scared and go for it!! You won’t be disappointed!!

Google
This is one of my favorite places to have a casual bite in Phoenix. I enjoy the customization of your own enchilada experience this place offers. There are a variety of options and the enchiladas are baked in a fire pit right in front of you. The staff is helpful when it comes to pointing out the vegetarian options, and green sauce is the only vegetarian sauce there. The only cons: this place can be a little expensive and at the time I was there, the place was down to plastic forks and knives which hinders the experience.

Yelp
It was very good food and service! Very calm and music isnt loud. Perfect service from Julio and Destiny Clean bathrooms!

Yelp
The food is sooo good and we love coming here. Lately, the service at this location hasn't been the best. We don't mind waiting when there is a big line, but the employees always seem to have an attitude. I think the food is amazing and usually everything is fine, but just noticed a decline in customer service. Plenty of seating and the food and very good and tortillas are freshly made. Will continue to come back. Maybe the workers have just been having tough days.

Yelp
The flavors were solid--classic, satisfying Mexican fare with a decent seasoning profile. But while the taste was enjoyable enough, the portions left a lot to be desired. For $12, you'd expect two enchiladas to come with more than a teaspoon of cheese and something resembling generous toppings. Sadly, they were sparse. It's hard to justify the price given how skimpy the portions felt. If you're looking for hearty and indulgent, this might not be the place. Staff were nice, but it seemed like they were told to be cheap and stingy.

Yelp
Horrible !! I can't believe they charged me me for this. So pathetic and sad. I'm so upset

TJ W.

Yelp
The food here was fresh, flavorful, and fairly priced, especially the house made tortillas. Service was just okay; staff weren't rude, but seemed a bit annoyed when we asked questions. The biggest letdown was the grapefruit margarita, which was overly bitter and tasted like cheap tequila and processed juice. Still, we'd come back for the food alone.

Kimberli J.

Yelp
It appears shrink-flation has finally reached Gadzooks; they have WATERED DOWN their red enchilada sauce so bad that it had ZERO chile flavor. I literally thought they were pouring beef broth over my enchiladas. We mentioned it to the staff who tried to offer us a "free cookie" or "bag of chips" as consolation. We left feeling dismissed and sad. Service was not great either; an empty utensils and a napkin dispenser where we had to ask for some (and we were the only ones in there too) only for the server to give us some and not even refill the holder because she had to take a personal phone call. If we come back again, we will definitely be checking the sauce consistency beforehand, because paying $30+ for 2 flavorless lunch combos is not worth it!

Yelp
Driven by it more than 1000 times and finally tried it. The food was very flavorful and exactly what i was looking for. If you want Soup or Enchiladas its a 10/10 imo.
google avatar

M J.

Yelp
Incredible food that's always consistent. Go for the corn and flour tortilla, one with chicken and one with smashed jack/potato. Ask for red sauce. Top it with guacamole and slaw, and cotija cheese. A fried egg might send it over the top. They have excellent pumpkin cookies too!

Yelp
Came back into Gadzooks, this time with a Groupon. I was told by the staff they do not accept Groupon anymore. My Groupon was not expired. The staff had told me to contact Groupon. Frustrating. Walked out.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent! I've been wanting to try this place literally for years and just haven't been able to convince my boyfriend to go. We saw a Groupon for this place and decided to finally try it. What an amazing experience! This is a similar concept to Chipotle in that you "build your own" enchiladas or tacos. I ordered the lunch special which comes with two enchiladas (or tacos) and a side. Both were made with braised beef on corn tortillas. They are smothered with your choice of sauce and cheese and then placed into their oven. After this, you can add whatever toppings you desire: different salsas, more cheese, pickled onions, crema, cabbage slaw and a few other options were available. For my side, I chose the cornbread. The food was BURSTING with flavor! So many different layers of flavors working in harmony. The beef was EXCELLENT and absolutely delicious! I really wish we would have tried this place sooner. Don't make the same mistake as us! We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
The way this place is set up is reminiscent of Chipotle. You either choose tacos or enchiladas. You get 2 or you can a third for an extra $3.00. A side costs an extra $2. Then you choose your main ingredient which can be chicken, short rib, pork shoulder, and bison. Then you can add different toppings such as asadero cheese, pico de gallo, coleslaw, crema, pickled onions, and more. There's also two soups to choose from: tortilla soup and spicy corn chowder which come with your choice of meat. Although the amount of food is a bit smaller than other places, it is packed full of delicious flavor. The workers there were quite convivial too. The only real foible is that their to-go boxes aren't compatible with the flour as the flour tortillas stick to the bottom of box.

Yelp
We scored another Groupon for Gadzools. This time on 7th street and Osborn. $30 for $15 We tried the Nachos and added potato's and cornbread since these are the meatless options, along with cheddar cheese. She toasted them perfectly and layered them up high. Then 3 Enchiladas also with potato, corn bread and Monterey Jack cheese and again she toasted them perfectly and everything tasted great. Added some salad and sour cream to the nachos. Yum! Service was prompt and helpful. Place is clean and quiet even though it's on the corner. Nice spot and yummy selections. Along with a great Groupon deal.

Yelp
Came in for lunch with my daughters we all had the lunch special. The food was amazing we all had ours different ways and none of us were disappointed. On top of great food the staff here were extremely nice and welcoming. The place was clean and well kept.

Yelp
A really good meal. This was our first visit to Gadzooks Enchiladas and soup and we really enjoyed our meals. The employees are amazing at walking you through how to select the food, step by step as you build your meal. Fadzooks offers so many mix and match options to choose; from toppings to the type of tortilla. Quality ingredients and amazing flavor profile. On this visit I ordered the pork enchiladas with green sauce, corn tortillas, cornbread, and both cheeses. As much as I enjoyed the enchiladas, my favorite was the sweet and spicy cornbread, it was delicious I will definitely be back for more. If you're in the area , stop in you won't be disappointed

Yelp
If I could give them a 0 star I would. I went to the restaurant planning to use a Groupon I got that expires May 2025 and I was told: "we are not accepting Groupons anymore". No explanation as to why but they just refused to take it. How does a company simply refuse to provide a service or good when the costumer paid for it. They offered me no solution and just said to contact Groupon. I left hungry and definitely not coming back. Would not recommend.

Yelp
Loved this place for years. Last time it was not great but I tried it again and now convinced that Food has downhill , dry overcooked and small portions . They ran out of dishes so they were using these small tin foil trays which really cuts back the portions .

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for ages and I finally did. I ordered tacos and my friend ordered the enchiladas. Everything was beautifully seasoned, not just the main dishes but also the sides and the salsas. The interior was well kept and inviting, the staff was friendly and quick. I'm definitely coming back for lunch.

Yelp
Pretty interesting place. Bowls are tasty and staff is nice. For me it's better than chipotle when you want to spice it up. Not mind blowing but I'd probably go back from time to time.

My name i.

Yelp
The food was amazing! They had a great selection of fillings sides and toppings. Everything looked fresh and vibrant. If you are fan of Latin tastes this is a great option. Their tortilla is especially notable. A 50/50 corn-flower held up great for an enchilada and was soft enough to capture an abundance of flavor. The service was very friendly and we're excited to answer any and all questions, especially to a first time customer. I came in asking for recommendations and what would go best. Great portion sizes and I had no fear asking for a little bit more, without a potential up-charge. The restaurant itself was modernizing but traditional which gave it a homie feel. The food served in the terra-cotta bowls were the coolest addition to the ambiance. Great smiles great food great lighting. If I had lived closer, I would go here at least once a week.

Yelp
I'm not 100% sold on this location we came in for a late lunch after my boyfriend's medical procedure at the VA. The nurse that cared for him specified that I get him some soup to eat since his throat may be irritated after having a tube down it. 1. No soup ok so my boyfriend was ok to try eating some spicy enchiladas so when we placed the order I wasn't very hungry myself so I was going to share his but the guy who was putting the order together didn't care to listen because he started putting a second order of enchiladas together what really? So we just let it go. After receiving our two orders of enchiladas we both turned to each other and made a comment on how salty the food was it was like biting into a salt lick I honestly couldn't eat all of mine and didn't care to. I think the only reason my boyfriend ate all of his was because he was so doped up on the meds that the hospital used to knock him out. It was not the best experience when it came down to the salty meat and the crunchy burnt tortillas. The location in Gilbert is much better when it comes to the consistency of the food.

Yelp
We usually hit this place up on any trip to phoenix. It's small but the food is great. I always get the nachos and they never disappoint, best nachos in AZ!! They're double layered then brick oven fired, and you can get different toppings per layer. I always smother them with enchilada sauce, green pork, and the beef. Then you can top them with all the fixings. The service is fast and friendly and the food is great. If you're in Phoenix or surrounding cities, give them a try.

Joe M.

Yelp
Just flew in from Chicago! Julio, the gentleman running the establishment gave us a welcoming rundown of the vast selection before placing our order. The food is amazing! My wife recommends the 7th Street Sangria!!
google avatar

Angel Q.

Yelp
It was my first time at a Build Your Own Enchilada place, so the only places I can think of to compare my experience to is Chipotle, Blaze, or Subway. Happy that I got to try it since I heard a lot about it from my boyfriend :) Food tasted yummy, and it was at a very convenient location for us.
google avatar

Jamie T.

Yelp
Fresh ingredients, straight out of the fire and exceptional service! I don't think I've ever had a bad experience eating here! It's a place that I love to bring people to taste the most delicious enchiladas, tacos and salads in phx!

Brian M.

Yelp
So when did you guys turn into Chipotle? I watched the girl get a pinch of braised beef with the tongs. Shake them to ensure all the extra meat came off then put it into the enchilada. She then took the tongs and pulled out 2 strands off the braised beef off the enchilada and put it back into the serving pan. 2 strands. Both skinnier than the size of a toothpick. Almost $19 for two half-filled enchiladas and a drink. No thanks. Lost a customer today. The place was dirty on the tables we were supposed to eat on. There was nobody else waiting for food. I was the only customer. The two employees were busy talking. Maybe an empty restaurant at dinner time means you need to look into some changes.

Yelp
Love this place. so fresh, quality ingredients, different from any other place. Wish it was closer to home or work. please open in Glendale AZ.

Yelp
Second time my husband and I went, it is really good! They're so helpful and really friendly. The atmosphere is very relaxed and I would recommend to anyone who likes great fast Mexican food!

Yelp
I had a coupon from Clipp (obtained thru Groupon) for "$30 Worth Of Casual Dining" which was good until January 16th, and when I attempted to redeem the coupon today, I was told that Gadzooks stopped taking them earlier this week. I walked out without ordering. Sadly, what would have been my first time ever at Gadzooks will be my last - you're not getting my business again
google avatar

Stef R.

Yelp
G*d damn. G************d damn. Those pumpkin cookies are the shiz and I'm not even into those types of cookies. Theyre thick and frosted. And the enchiladas are crazy. Shoot, writing this review is making me need to go here.
google avatar

Victor M.

Yelp
My first time at Gadzooks, they feature build your own enchiladas, tacos, and bowls. Lots of fresh ingredients and toppings to choose from. Fast and casual and served in clay crockery, they also serve soups beer wine and margaritas as well as a lunchtime combo with a drink entree and side for $15. You can purchase a Groupon or Local Flavor coupon to save 50% of $30 . Our food had lots of flavor they also have vegan options.
google avatar

Destiney S.

Yelp
First visit and it was pretty good! I did online ordering with pick up. I like that you can build your own enchiladas, they had some good choices and their ordering was easy. My only issue was that I had my pick up time set as I work in the area and when I picked it, it was ready but it had been sitting there cause my items were lukewarm at best. I didn't have any plates (none were given) and I couldn't stick them in the microwave because of the container they were in. If a customer has a pick up time of 12:45 please have it ready at that time, not 10min before so they're just sitting there getting cold. I'd rather wait a few minutes than have my food sitting there cold. Most other places have this figured out. Not sure I'll be back due to this but would entertain visiting in person if other coworkers wanted to.
google avatar

Maryanne S.

Yelp
Lots of good flavors! Good sized portions, too. Truly a cut above any Garcia's. But... I ordered 2 chicken enchiladas, the chicken is shredded, though, it's not desirable. It's more like a big pile of tasteless shredded chicken. And that doesn't sound good to me. I'd try Gadzooks again but I'm gonna have to do that in person. Doesn't deliver well.

Aaron G.

Yelp
Love getting the double layer nachos here, and the guac is solid. And Yesenia is the best--always has a smile on her face and brightens my day! :)
google avatar

Tuyet N.

Yelp
This was my first time at gadzooks. Stephanie was extremely friendly. She took really good care of us and provided us a great experience. She took time and explained what all the toppings were We had the chicken and braise short ribs and absolutely loved it. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Dominick D.

Yelp
Years ago this was my favorite restaurant. I had for the last couple weeks thought about going there. I can't really remember why I stopped going. Today though I had a taste for their district recipes and flavors. Now the picture attached to this review, is not the prettiest. The picture represents the multitude of layers of flavors this place offers. Always get the side of cornbread and smashed potatoes. They both are a great addition to the enchiladas. I can only recommend the short rib or bison because, I have only ever got those and have never been disappointed. I love the fried cheese on top. I have always got enchiladas here entree wise. The hybrid tortilla is another great example of how this place stands out. A mixture of corn and flour is heavenly when used for an enchilada. Christmas sauce always. The red and green sauces are a great balance. The pumpkin cookies have been a staple and I can remember a couple years where I would just go in for a order or two of cookies. On this (togo) visit I'm reminded why this was a regular place I would go to. Insanely delicious food. I also made this my choice for my 100th review. This is a Phoenix institution, even though they are in other cities now.

Yelp
Good food, terrible service!! This place is always understaffed. It's also hot as hell in here. I try and avoid this place on my rotation.
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
Menu / process could be explained a little more clearly in the signage. But really tasty and unique take on mexican food. Nice space inside and outside to eat.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
I've been to multiple Gadzooks, always with great results but today I tried something different and they failed. Go usual go-to is the enchiladas with short ribs and jalapeño cornbread, red sauce and cheese. I stuck with that winning combo but ordered delivery today. My wife, relatively new to Gadzooks, ordered short rib tacos. The order arrived right on schedule but upon opening the bag, I was a bit shocked. I found small, watery, oozy blobs of beef, covered in mushy tortillas and sauce. The flavors were there but the texture was terrible. My wife's tacos were closer to enchiladas, there was so much liquid inside. Note to self: order in at Gadzooks, not delivery.
google avatar

Jon M.

Yelp
2nd visit update: I had the green poblanos stuffed with mushrooms, spinach, spicy potatoes(Sundays only)and cheese. This was another big winner and best I ever had, hot and swimming in delicious salsa. The bison and short rib tacos were also phenomenal. Service by Dani and Brandon was excellent. Highly recommended at N. 7th st and Osborne.
google avatar

Claire G.

Yelp
Food was really good. I ordered the corn chowder and the tortilla soup, both were excellent! I love the customizations you can do with all the menu items. I was pleasantly surprised that everything was a decent level of spicy. Picking up an online order was confusing. The staff were really nice and helpful. I was really disappointed that they dud not include any napkins or utensils in my online order. That should be standard. Was really annoying trying to source utensils for a takeout order when I wasn't exactly taking it home.
google avatar

Jake H.

Yelp
To be honest I thought the food was good coming from a booth at Chase ballpark, but after getting home I became sick with food poisoning with symptoms lasting almost two complete days. I can't really say that after that I will ever eat at this location again which is to bad since I actually liked the food.

Y P.

Yelp
This is only location worth going to! I drive all the way from Tempe to this location even though I'm between the Chandler and Tempe location who both have dry meats and dirty locations
google avatar

Jason Y.

Yelp
The service and food out of this world - Joshua Thank You - You are a rock start. You gave us insane suggestions that tasted incredible- we will be coming back many times!!! Cheers J
google avatar

Jerry L.

Yelp
I was working downtown and my co-worker told me about this place and the way he was explaining, it sounded like Chipotle or subway. And I hate chipotle. But I gave it a shot and I was blown away. The food is delicious, fresh and hot. Basically you choose between a taco or enchilada and fill it with either beef, pork or chicken or some non meat options. Pick your cheese and they put in the oven. Then you put whatever other toppings on afterwards. I got 3 tacos. 2 with beef and 1 with pork. They were super tasty!!! I also got the "cornbread" but it was more like a cornbread casserole and it was delicious. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because their drink selection sucks with only Diet Coke which tasted horrible. Add Coke Zero or Sprite Zero and some lemonade options. The inside of the restaurant is rather boring, cookie cutter style fast food place but it makes up for it with the food. I will definitely becoming back for sure!!!!

Yelp
I believe that my server Jessica took a picture of my credit card while she was checking us out tonight. She became very defensive when questioned. Will not be returning. And I filed a police report with PPD.
google avatar

Carlos M.

Yelp
I really like the enchiladas here, but it feels like every time the quality of service goes down. Today go the first time I paid for three enchiladas, and the attendant prepsred them like tacos. I was not offered the options for sauces: it was just fillings, cheese, and into the oven. I had to as for the sauce, and instea of cove the enchiladas with them, just a little bit was added. And the attendant even asked "Like this"?
google avatar

Ben D.

Yelp
This place is just a gem to eat at. I had to go pick up my car down on auto row. We decided to eat here for lunch. I got 3 50/50 enchiladas 2 short rib and 1 bison. The red sauce topped it off perfectly. I even got some of the cotija cheese too. This has and will always be one of my favourite places to eat. Hopefully in the future maybe the can add elk meat too. Please note there was a sign on the door about using cash. Be sure to check that before you go.

Yelp
Not great service, two other staff watched one staff member fill all the orders for our family of six and didn't help her at all. Food came out barely warm and very bland. Three of the six of us had what felt like food poisoning overnight. A really disappointing visit.
