My fiance was craving some Philly cheese steaks so he decided to order us some dishes for delivery. He got the traditional Philly cheese steak sandwich and what looks to be Philly cheese steak fries. He's been talking about this place for a while so I felt he hyped it up. So I was a little underwhelmed with what we got. It's definitely some comfort food Style, but quality is subpar at best. It is overly cheesy, and the bread definitely tasted stale and just heat it up last minute. I will take into consideration that this was for takeout and not dying in which may be a different experience.

Google
What a great place! Food and service was excellent, highly recommend to try the garlic fries. Authentic Philly experience. Great music

Google
We ordered the Philly cheese steak garlic fries in the location inside Petco Park and they were amazing! We will definitely order these again!

Google
For the longest I was trying to find a good place for subs and cheesesteak that tasted like home. This Philly cheesesteak is nothing short of legendary. From the first bite, it’s clear this sandwich is a labor of love. The thinly sliced steak is cooked to absolute perfection—juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The seasoning? Just enough to let the meat shine while adding that touch of savory magic. It’s not just a sandwich; it’s an experience. Oh and by the way the bread is just different , best bread I’ve had living 4 years in San Diego. If you’re searching for the perfect cheesesteak, look no further—this one sets the standard. Making the East Coast very proud. Love - Jersey Girl

Google
Yes! It is that good and it is worth every mile that you need to drive there. When my friend suggested that we go there, I was like, why drive all the way there for a cheesesteak? Go check them out! You will see what the hype is all about.

Google
The food and customer service is amazing beyond what you ask for. I discovered this place 6 years ago and it became my go-to place for cheesesteak sandwiches. The food is great but it's also the customer service that keep me coming back. Rarely do you find any place that go above and beyond for their customers these day but this place will not hesitate to prove that they are a cut above your average restaurant. If you're looking for a cheesesteak place that put your satisfaction at the top of their list then definitely check this place out.

Google
First time here, but have had many cheesesteaks in Philly, NY and Chicago. I ordered the cheez whiz with peppers and it did not disappoint. Growing up in the east coast, it’s cheez whiz or go home. Will definitely go back. $10+ for the 8” was fair, but go for the 12-16” for the experience.

Google
Being from the Philly area and living in Cali for almost 33 years, I can safely say that this is the best cheesesteak I've had in Southern California, from the grilling the cheese/onions/steak together to the bread!!! I mean, I've never figured out why the bread is different on the east coast, but these guys nailed it! I can't comment on the service because a friend of mine picked it up for me, but I will be going back with the family to try everything else on the menu <3

Yelp
Been a long time since I reviewed this spot. Still bomb, still the best cheesesteak you can get in San Diego, by far. I went with a cheesesteak and well done garlic fries. Both items were great. I loaded my steak up with their cherry pepper relish. So good! Garlic fries were nice and crispy and full of garlic. Bomb! Even ran into my Brother in law while we were eating there! Hungry minds think alike. Totally random to see him there. Good times.

Yelp
I first tried this spot at Petco Park, and the cheesesteak and cheesesteak fries held their own, especially for ballpark food. But I figured the storefront had to be even better. So I made my way to the actual location and ordered the cheesesteak fries again. They were solid, hot, fresh, and satisfying. I also appreciated the toppings bar, which had a nice variety of peppers and condiments to customize your meal. Next time I'm in the area, I'll have to try the cheesesteak itself and see how it compares.

Yelp
Tried this spot in the ballpark and it was incredible so I knew I needed to try it again at their store front We ordered the cheesesteak fries to share and portion was perfect for 2 and at $10 was a great deal! They have plenty of peppers and pickles to grab and we loaded up our fries! Plenty of inside seating and quick service but it was made fresh and came out hot! Can't wait to go back and try their sandwiches!!

Yelp
The food here is really good and the staff was amazing. The only thing I didn't like were the prices.... Almost $20 for a medium cheesesteak
google avatar

Yelp
Had a cheesesteak in Petco Park at a Padre game and it was so delicious. Found the original restaurant next day so I could have more more before heading back North to home.

Yelp
Delicious cheesesteaks and fries, no complaints here. Hardworking staff and chef cooking, we dined in and they have lots of peppers and sauces too. Theres seating inside and two tables out front. Parking was easy in the shopping plaza. We got the combo with the drink and fries for ~$5 extra and it was worth it. Love this San Diego staple, will be back.

Yelp
Umm..yum!!! I happened to be in the area and remembered that this is highly recommended for their Philly cheese steaks. I ordered the 18" the works which comes with mushrooms and chilis. Probably would just get the OG Philly with mushrooms next time since they have a sauce bar with chilis complementary. The chilis relish is also delish. The mustard, amazing. And sandwich had very good meat to bread ratio. I'd come back!

Yelp
My favorite cheesesteaks in SD! I've been eating here a couple times a year for the past few years since discovering them and still love their subs. My favorites are the Cheesesteak and Mushroom Cheesesteak, while my boyfriend always orders the Pizza Steak. They never skimp out on the meat inside the sandwiches. I've also tried the Meatball Sub, but unfortunately I didn't really enjoy it compared to the other sandwiches. I love the Cheeze Wiz Garlic Fries! Their condiment bar is solid, with chili peppers, dill pickle chips, and other sauces. Service is never a problem. Always am able to grab a seat regardless of how busy it gets. Full restaurant but never a long line. Don't ever change, Gaglione Bros!!

Yelp
My husband and I no longer live in the area, so it's been years since the last time we had Gaglione Brothers. We decided to stop by to see if it was as good as we remembered, and we were not disappointed. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the nice staff. It wasn't crazy busy at the time. We ordered a mushroom cheesesteak to split, garlic cheez fries extra crispy, cheez on the side. Everything was perfect. The sandwich was hot and fresh, the meat tender, and the perfect amount of cheese, mushrooms, and onions. The bread was crispy, but not to the point where it would cut the roof of your mouth. The fries were so garlicky in the best way possible. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I wish we had a spot like this closer to us, but this spot is worth the drive to satiate the craving.

Yelp
Not too bad of a Cheesesteak I must say. The service first off was wonderful by Jacob. Secondly the food was what I was looking for a good nice tasting well portioned Cheesesteak with a lil cheez wiz on the side of course. Garlic fries are garlicy but a must try. Hey Jacob thank you for the service today!!!

Yelp
Followed the unbelievable smells and landed at Gag bros for THE most incredible garlic (cheez) fries I've ever tasted! I'm not a huge baseball fan but I just go for the foooood. I grew up in Seattle and have always boasted about the Mariners' garlic fries but wow, SD has them beat! I've literally chased garlic fries around different stadiums throughout the country and can say with full confidence that Gag is the way to go! I can't tell you how many times I got stopped on my way back to my seat and had people ask me where I got my food. The smell speaks for itself lol My mouth is watering and I'm craving it all over again, just writing this

Yelp
The photos are what drew me in to try this place out. Perhaps it's just not my cup of tea. I ordered the Diego sub & found the chicken way too salty for my liking, the bread wasn't good and the lettuce immediately got soggy. They do provide a lot of meat. Not my kind of sub with the overpowering sogginess of the fresh veggies & salty taste.
google avatar

Yelp
Was craving a philly cheesesteak and all of the pictures on yelp for this place made the sandwich look so delicious! Came by on a weeknight and ordered the 12 inch mushroom philly with garlic fries. The 12 inch was big enough for 2 people to share. The cheesesteak itself was a little bit salty and the bread was a little too soggy for my taste, but overall they did not hold back on the filling and cheese. Garlic fries were delicious and perfectly cooked. The guys working behind the counter were all so sweet and I was really surprised because you don't get that kind of customer service that often anymore. Inside of the store was kind of small and their POS (cash register system) is kind of outdated-no apple pay or tap to pay, you give them your card and you have to sign a printed receipt.

Yelp
When I think of cheesesteaks I think of this place. I do not get them often, but when I crave one, I'll be heading there to get one. People from the east coast might not agree with them but this is how I like my cheesesteaks. My favorite sandwich from there is the mushroom one: Steak or chicken, grilled onion, mushroom & American cheese They pack in the meat smothered in all that cheese, it might be a bit overload for some, but that is how I like it. We did get this one: Cheesesteak Hoagie: This one was good as well, the tomatoes and lettuce can get uber soggy if not eaten fairly fast. I got this one from my niece: Sophia Loren- Capicolla, Genoa salami, pepperoni, Provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions, Pepperoncini & Italian dressing She liked this one quite a bit. We got regular fries and garlic fries. I normally like the regular ones but lately they haven't been as fresh as I liked and not salted. I would prefer some salt on them. Garlic fries are good from this place. Service: 5/5 They are friendly and fast! Ambiance: 4/5 it has some seating if you want to dine in Food: 4.5/5 I knocked off half a point since sometimes their sandwiches are less stuffed.

Yelp
Faster than a drive-thru...Go Joe! Joe Gaglione, yes you:) What a great spot for delicious Philly's. This is my second or third visit for the win. Today's sandwich, a medium LG Works sub sandwich. Footlong cheesey goodness packed with the famous Philly style beef. Just look at the photo ladies and gents-everything is spot on. I also liked the homemade Cole slaw; not too sweet or sour and plenty flavorful. I know from a previous visit the French fries are well worth the price. The fries here are a mound of crispy, lightly salted and hints of garlic potatoes. Enjoy the varied side bar items and create your very own Philly flavor The staff are attentive, friendly and pretty quick. Faster than a drive thru- Indoor, outdoor and food to go. Free parking.

Yelp
Second time I come here I'm never disappointed. The best Philly cheese steak I ever had. The service is so fast the food and the ambiance feels like home

Yelp
Came around 12 pm on a Monday and there was no line! Plenty of seating and the staff were friendly and quick. My sister and I ordered the mushroom cheesesteak 12" and garlic fries. Everything was good and the portions were huge, we still had fries leftover. There was plenty of meat in the sandwich but I do wish there were more onions and mushrooms to balance it out. The fries were nicely seasoned and a good amount of garlic flavor, not too overwhelming.
google avatar

Allison L.

Yelp
I've been wanting to go to their main store after trying it at Snapdragon stadium! Came around 12pm and ordered the mushroom cheesesteak 12" ($16.49) and the garlic fries ($4.49), and split it with my sister. Huge portions and overflowing with steak! Was a little salty tho and I wasn't the biggest fan of the bread. Fries were hot and nicely flavored

Yelp
BB and I stopped by here earlier this week. The parking lot is shared with many businesses and there is ample parking. The Philly cheesesteaks and fries here are fantastic. We ordered take out; BB got a large mushroom steak, sub cheez whiz, and I got a large cheez whiz steak. We also ordered two cheez whiz fries, which came with a total of 4 sides of cheez whiz! All the food tasted delicious. Meat was of good quality, and blended perfectly with the grilled onions and cheez whiz. Bread was soft with a perfectd amount of chew. What makes this place even better than it already is, is the fact that they have a self serve hot pepper bar with all kinds of peppers and chilis! They have giardiniera, banana peppers, jalapenos (green and red combined), chili relish, and a few other ones. Though I enjoyed most of them, just the plain red and green jalapenos are a perfect accompaniment to cheesesteaks and fries. Prices are reasonable for what you get, service is friendly as well. They package the food with care so it doesn't spill. Definitely a 5 star place that will be added to our rotation.

Yelp
This place is a go to for Philly cheese steak hoagies. Try the works cheese steak hoagie from this place. So delicious. They have complete condiments bar and the pickles are good combo. Have it with their famous garlic fries. They also have one these places at Petco park. Perfect for a ball game meal.

Yelp
This place is so good every single time, whether you get a cheesesteak or another one of their specialty sandwiches it's gonna be delicious! My personal favorite chicken ranch sammy but i've had the cheesesteaks as well and they are just as good. This place was actually my first job back when I was a teenager many years ago, the quality was good then and it's still just as good now. Ive never personally had a cheesesteak from philly but those who have say the ones here are close to authentic! The garlic fries are tossed with fresh garlic and parsley to order add the cheez whiz sauce to that and they are to die for. It's a small sandwich shop so it definitely is designed for more of a grab and go situation but they do have about 8-10 tables and a cute little bar area where you can see the cooks working away which is cool. Staff is typically very attentive and greet you as you walk in. This place is a classic for the allied gardens area and I recommend any cheesesteak lover to come by and try it out!

Yelp
Love these cheesesteaks although your wait time may be long. Today (Sunday) at 1pm the wait was long. But well worth it. Best cheesesteaks in San Diego. We had the Chicken Cheesesteak which we love. The crew there is so nice. I'd probably avoid weekend lunch crowds next time and go earlier or a bit later. Wait time about 25 minutes. Definitely worth a visit and take the whole family. About 8-10 tables inside and a few small tables outside or order as takeout. Thanks, we'll be back!
google avatar

Lena C.

Yelp
Pretty good. The garlic fries with whiz were VERY garlicky so beware. I personally loved them. The cheesesteak i ordered was the cheese whiz cheesesteak. It wasn't bad but I didn't get much flavor from the meat so I was a bit disappointed because this place was really hyped. I had a really tasty experience in LA a few months back and will review shortly in case you guys want a recommendation that blew my mind. I feel like perhaps this was just not a good day so, I'll come back and try another one.
google avatar

Grace S.

Yelp
It's pretty yummy I like it. I love the condiments that came with it and the bread, meat, toppings and sauce were all awesome.

David S.

Yelp
They really do make an amazing cheese steak! As good as you can get in Philly! Nuff said!
google avatar

Luqman A.

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal fresh cheese steaks! The mustered they have is banging with flavor, staff and cooks are wonderful 10/10 entering the clean plate club!

Yelp
I can't wait to come back! Definitely lived up to their reputation and I really enjoyed the pickle bar. We will be back soon. Everyone was so friendly. They offered to cut my cheesesteak because they noticed I was going to share with my kids. Thanks so much!

Yelp
A hidden gem! My wife and I wanted to check out the eateries in this local strip mall and Gaglione Brothers caught our eye. Upon walking in the staff was very friendly and inviting. Other guests would come in and instantly strike up conversation with them. There are places the have juvenile, careless and playful employees and places that have employees that simply enjoy what they do. These people enjoy what they do. You could feel the vibe. The cashier was very helpful with order suggestions and we opted to go with the original cheesesteak 12" with onions, a side of garlic fries and a fountain drink. The condiment bar was impressive, with several selections of peppers, ranging from sweet to rather hot, as well as other various sauces. The moment I was handed the tray I could smell the garlic aroma. It wasn't coated with powder, but bits of chopped garlic. The sandwich, although ordered as one 12", was cut in half and placed in two baskets. Another plus in their customer service. My wife and I sampled the fries first. Although the aroma was "in your face", the taste was not. They were perfectly seasoned! The sandwich... This got me! It was melt-in-your-mouth good! I've been to Philadelphia Sandwich Company in Miramar and wasn't overly impressed. One would think that a place named for the sandwich would stand out. Gaglione Brothers blows it away! The bun was fresh, soft and light. The medium-fine chopped beef was very tender, with no random bits of chewy meat. It was perfectly married with American cheese and onions. The onions were not long stringy slivers but, rather, medium-chopped pieces that were just as tender as the meat itself. Overall, the meal and visit were well worth our time. We will be returning!
google avatar

Daniela P.

Yelp
The food completely exceeded my expectations! I grew up near Philly so I've had my fair share of cheesesteaks and this one is UP THERE, dare I say number 1? The service was great, quick, and kind. The ambiance was homey in a Philly cheesesteak shop kind of way haha. Overall great experience and will absolutely be returning for my Philly cheesesteak craving fix.
google avatar

Shawnee B.

Yelp
Got two medium original cheesesteak sandwiches for my partner and I to have a little picnic at the zoo. These sandwiches were HUGE and absolutely stuffed with meat. We totally could have split one medium, I couldn't even finish a half. It was absolutely delicious, the cheese, bread and meat quality are excellent but it was absolutely so filling, not a good sandwich to plan to walk around after. The garlic fries were okay, I thought the smell and taste of the seasoning or oil was a little off putting. Maybe if I had them hot and fresh they would have been better but honestly don't need a side with the sandwich so I'll probably pass next time.
google avatar

Lovepreet A.

Yelp
This place is the best! I went here on a whim after getting tired of other subpar cheese steak spots around SD and it did not disappoint! The service was super friendly, the overall vibe is chill and laid-back. Prices are decent and the cheese steaks are on point from the bread to the meats.
google avatar

Yelp
Totally different experience from the one at Snapdragon We had the hoagie and cheesesteaks (2) with fries drink combo-yes, hits the hangry cravings well- Garlic cheese fries, and the jalapeño cheese fries-a treat not just bc Im not a Cheese Whiz fan-but bc with the garlic and jalapeños -they were sooooo good.. So if you're esp tired of burgers and tacos, try cheesesteaks- They can make you happy!
google avatar

Yelp
Took my mom and aunt here for lunch and they absolutely loved it! My mom even said the cheesesteak was better than the one she had in Philly! Staff was wonderful and even accommodated to a food modification for my aunt. I had the meatball sandwich w/ garlic fries and woah I was full all day, barely needed any dinner later. Thanks Gaglione Bros!!
google avatar

Yelp
Got food here yesterday. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with mushroom, meatball sub & garlic cheese fries. Overall I was satisfied except for the Meatball sub. I didn't like it at all. I got the $10.99 the small bcoz their subs were big enough for a small portion. I wished I had gotten the medium philly cheesesteak instead coz I wanted to know how the meatball was and it was terrible. The meatball was not moist at all very dry and didn't like the flavor. I won't be going back for that but will definitely be back for the Philly cheesesteak & will try the steak fries next time.

Yelp
If you want a cheesesteak and you're in San Diego....you need to go here. As far as authenticity this is a place that could provide you a similar experience to what you'd get off of Broad Street or in any number of smaller streets in the city of Brotherly Love. Their cheesesteaks are delicious, they taste real and authentic from the cut of meat to the griddle to the whiz to the legendary amoroso rolls - straight out of philly. They have enough options to make everyone happy with mushrooms and peppers and whatnot, and the quality remains top notch. You'll get a full sandwich even at their smallest size which will make you pretty content (and ready for a nap). They do have sandwiches but i've never tried them before, still they look good. Above all else, you MUST order the garlic fries at the bare minimum. Go up from there to Cheese & Garlic or Cheesesteak & Garlic fries but they're delicious, well seasoned and well cooked. Their staff is super friendly and pleasant every time I've been in there and they never hesitate to make me smile after a rough day. Definitely worth the trip

Steve R.

Yelp
As close to Philly as you can get... But with a SoCal flair if you want to venture outside the regular Cheesesteak. Cheesesteaks with Cheez Whiz, peppers of all sorts? Delicious. Thanksgiving dinner on a bun? Yep. Chicken sandwich (Diego) is excellent. Favorite is the Pizza Steak. Been going here for decades now. A San Diego institution owned by local actual brothers. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We came here on a rainy Saturday afternoon and were surprised at how busy it was. Still the young lady who took our order was super friendly and sweet. It's not very roomy inside but they have tables inside and outside plus a counter with stools. That counter faces the cooking area so we were able to watch. They all work well together and really hustle. Our sandwiches were loaded and the Garlic Fries were so good! The prices are very fair.
google avatar

Calina N.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night and it was getting packed but we were able to grab a table. The service was friendly and quick. They have a little salsa bar that has a bunch of toppings such as jalapeños. Their fries were big and just the right amount of crispness which surprised me. They offer 3 sizes of cheesesteaks but my boyfriend and I were able to share a large size and fries and it was more than enough for us. I really enjoyed the cheese, I kind of wish I got the cheese whiz one for more cheesiness. Overall, a delicious quick meal option!
google avatar

Brandon Z.

Yelp
Another recommendation for lunch. Had to check it out. I ordered the Mushroom cheesesteak and a Tastycake. The service was great. The order came out quickly. The sandwich was delicious. It had great flavor. It was not stringy or fatty. My personal preference would have been a little more cheese and mushrooms and onions, but it was delicious either way. I would eat there again. The ambiance is a back east cheesesteak shop. There are plenty of reviews and awards on the wall. Worth a shot for sure. They have a little condiment bar with hot peppers, pepper relish, chile peppers and hot sauce. Yum.

Yelp
For many years s I've come here to enjoy their truly delicious Phillies. Prices are easy on the wallet too. Actually quite less than most Philly places here in S.D., especially for what you get. Excellent parking too. Best of all, are the Super Friendly Employees and the many smiles they bring to each of us. Today was the Seventh Anniversary of the manager here at this location, he really cares, please see photo below.

Yelp
Wanted a quick bite one random night. Looked what was around me and saw this place. Place itself is small but good amount of seating. Looked clean and was greeted when I entered. I ordered the cheese steak sandwich with cheese whiz and Garlic fries. Took everything to go. The fries were amazing probably even better than the sandwich. The sandwich was quite delicious. Geasy, meaty and cheesey is how I can describe it. Will definitely be going back to try their other sandwiches.

Yelp
this is a great place for a quick bite! super menu, great team, and of course this steakcheese+fried onion+fried mushroom sandwich was just the bomb!!!

Yelp
My homie from Philly put me onto this spot. And after eating the Philly Cheese Steak and The Works from this place, I'm about to take his Philly card away. This place was okay at best. I didn't think it was that good. Definitely not good enough to call me after he had it just to tell me how good it was. Now for San Diego it might be the closest thing to home for him but I was super disappointed. I think the bread was very soggy which ruined it from the get go. That's the foundation. Without that, might as well just eat soup. The meat wasn't too bad but felt like it was missing flavor. Prob needed more seasoning other than salt and pepper or needs to be marinated. Even the toppings and sauces they used felt like it didn't really match the sub itself. The people working there was super nice. Helped me decide which two to get which was nice. And when I hesitated and took an extra few minutes to decide they were patient. I came around 5pm and it seemed like anybody else who came in after me had already placed their order online. There's a few spots to sit outside and inside there are a dozen or so tables. Its not a romantic spot but more like a quick place to eat lunch. If you ever been in a subway or Burger King then you get the gist of how this place feels. 2 stars barely because the food was barely okay.

Yelp
Food 10/10 the prices are humble and the food is savory Good customer service , there was and elder couple seated and instead of having them come back to the counter to get their food cashier served them instead. Condiment bar with good house mustard, peppers etc Noooo complaints :)

Yelp
Fire, best cheesesteak I've found in San Diego. Meat is high quality and the right cheese makes this place a great cheesesteak!
google avatar

Debbie L.

Yelp
They have the best cheesesteaks in San Diego! We had the mushroom chicken cheesesteak. The service is good and quick :)

Yelp
Joe, Andy & Tony. I've been coming in to Friars for a couple of years now and I have to give a big shout out to your Female employee who runs the register, serves our food , wipes our table etc. She's a great employee and you guys are lucky to have someone kind and courteous and customer service oriented !

Yelp
Stopped by for my lunch and was warmly greeted instantly! I forgot my cards and only had mobile transaction, which they **do not** accept (so bring your wallet!). I was able to give my card information to checkout (although forgot that as well) and ultimately ordered from Yelp/Grubhub. My order taker was very patient and supportive with me. I ordered an 8" classic cheesesteak with onions. My order was ready in about 5 min even with a few other orders in the works! There were other customers eating inside or outside and leaving the restaurant, which makes sense since it's a pretty active area. Still, they've got a crowd going and now I know why! The bread smelled amazing and the filling was piping hot & well seasoned. Thank you Gaglione Brothers!
