Gaia Hotel and Reserve, Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica - Explore & Book

"In the heart of Costa Rica’s most sought-after tourist destination, with magnificent panoramic views over the steep forested hills around Manuel Antonio National Park to the Pacific beyond, Gaia Hotel and Reserve is very special indeed. While many of the country’s hotels survive on kitsch interiors, rice-and-beans cuisine and towels sculpted into swans, Gaia is an oasis of sleek modern design, with a superb spa and an open-sided restaurant to rival any in New York for the quality of its food and service; expect everything from Pacific lobster to Peruvian casseroles. There’s a dedicated concierge for each guest, and a wealth of facilities and outings to entertain you after you’ve visited the park. Floors are stone and polished hardwood, furniture is chic minimalist rattan and cream linen, beds are sumptuous, and bathrooms are sleek. Perfect for sophisticated travellers, families with teens up for an adventure, honeymooners and anyone wanting to combine rainforest wonders with pampering. Highs The hotel’s 10-acre private reserve is incredible (guests get free tours); visiting the scarlet macaws who are being reintroduced into the area was a real highlight Chic modern rooms to suit a range of budgets, with classy design and every imaginable comfort: slate bathrooms, supremely comfy beds Excellent service from warm and friendly professional staff, plus exquisite food, and views to die for - Gaia truly deserves its 5-star status Great location: very close to Manuel Antonio National Park (famed for its wildlife) and within easy striking distance of the coast and the area’s major towns, yet private and secluded The holistic spa with inspired treatments is one of the best in the country - a reason to stay a day longer Lows Some may consider the Studios to be small, but we’d have been more than happy in one Jungle Studios lack outdoor space and Studios share a balcony (your area is separated by plants), but there is lots of lounging space by the pool No children under 13 permitted It isn't a nice walk to the entrance of the Manuel Antonio National Park, but the hotel provides transfers at certain times, check when you arrive" - Christabelle Dilks

"Ponce de León put Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast on the map in 1519 — but, too afraid to confront the native Quepoa tribe, he was left to appreciate the evergreen forests and white sand from the safety of his ship. Today, thanks to the establishment of the Manuel Antonio National Park and a number of luxury resorts springing up along the beach, the lush coastal region is quite a bit more tourist-friendly. The poshest hotel of the lot is the Gaia Hotel and Reserve, a sprawling jungle retreat situated atop a mountain and comprising a series of terraced suites and studios in addition to a private villa that looks out over the ocean." - Tablet Hotels

Gaia Hotel and Reserve | Best places to stay in Costa Rica

"Spread over a hilly, five-hectare nature reserve, deep in the magnificent coastal forest of the Manuel Antonio National Park, this boutique bolthole offers all the comforts of a city hotel transplanted into wildly beautiful surrounds. A cluster of contemporary whitewashed buildings house contemporary-feeling, super-comfortable rooms; high-thread linens, polished-wood floors – and top-of-the-line service, including private butlers. This is a fantastic choice for wildlife lovers; Gaia’s nature reserve is home to sloths, monkeys, raccoons, iguanas and a wide variety of birds. A range of activities – from hiking to zip lines and all-terrain vehicles – offer different ways to explore the landscapes, or just lie by the shimmering infinity pool and drink in the dreamy Pacific Ocean views. My wife and I had such an incredible experience at Gaia Hotel this September. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome—everyone was so friendly, attentive, and eager to help with anything we needed, to include Catalina our concierge. Jose was also super helpful with our early morning check-out. The property itself is stunning: it feels like a rainforest within a rainforest, full of beautiful biodiversity and amazing views everywhere you look. The food was excellent throughout our stay, and we especially appreciated how easy it was to get to all the major attractions in and around Quepos from the hotel. Whether we were relaxing on the property or heading out for adventures, everything felt effortless. Gaia truly exceeded our expectations, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area.

My husband and I stayed at Gaia after I found it online, and WOW- the ratings and photos didn’t even come close to preparing us for what awaited. I’ve truly never experienced a hotel like this before. From the breathtaking views to being surrounded by jungle, national park, and a macaw refuge, Gaia feels like something out of a dream. But what truly sets it apart is the people who run it. Every single staff member is attentive to every detail. It’s as if they anticipate your needs before you even realize them yourself. Our personal concierge, Catalina, made everything effortless. Alessio, our dinner waiter, and Anthony, who took care of us at breakfast, were equally wonderful, warm, thoughtful, and genuinely kind. Their care isn’t just part of their job, but it’s who they are as people. Because of them, we felt immersed in Costa Rican hospitality and culture in a way that words can’t quite capture. Catalina helped us plan amazing excursions: a guided tour of Manuel Antonio, a 90 minute couples massage on-site, and a breathtaking waterfalls tour that became one of our favorite memories. With only about 20 guests on the property, everything felt intimate and serene. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted, upgraded to a beautiful room, and made to feel at home right away. And then there’s La Luna, the on-site restaurant that completely blew us away. After trying several restaurants in the area, this was easily our favorite. Thank you Alessio for all the wonderful and delicious recommendations! Must trys: apple & spinach salad, gorgonzola and sun-dried tomato tart, creamed corn soup, traditional churrasco, homemade blackberry sorbet & a blackberry margarita- all SO delicious! The property itself is absolutely stunning, seamlessly blending into the surrounding jungle while offering every modern comfort. Gaia is also home to a macaw sanctuary, where they’ve single handedly helped bring these once nearly extinct birds back to the wild. It’s a beautiful reflection of how this hotel is truly one with nature, yet still just minutes from amazing local beaches and fantastic dining. This hotel is beyond special. Every corner, every view, every interaction feels intentional and filled with care. We can’t wait to return! Gaia will forever be our go-to place in Quepos. -Greg & Karina

Yes, amazing boutique hotel was close to the beach and the national park and everything we wanted to see! Everyone here is so nice. It feels like family. The rooms are absolutely amazing! The beds are so comfortable and the food was totally amazing! It really felt like we didn’t need to go anywhere, but we did venture out to all the local spots. We love, especially DJ Anthony and Edsel our concierge.

Wow what a fantastic hotel the setting couldn’t have been better right in the canopy of the rain forest.from the food to the staff we couldn’t have wished for any better the food was actually outstanding. We even had our very own concierge Jose and nothing was too much trouble for him he checked in with the every day to make sure we were k and that we didn’t need anything and if we did he was on the case and had it sorted. | The rooms were excellent and very well equipped kept spotlessly clean by the cleaning staff. |We had golf carts to transport us us every day either they out or back to our rooms after being out for the day/evening. The hotel also provide a shuttle bus service to take you to the beach as well as supplying you with beach towels.|The hotel had thought if everything and I would highly recommend the Gaia Hotel and reserve very luxurious

My family stayed for 3 days and 4 nights. When we arrived, at night, my directions had me to enter @ the exit 🤦🏾‍♂️. The staff were very welcoming, in spite of, with a tropical drink and cooled towel with a calming scent (not lemongrass🙂). Our bag was loaded onto a golfcart that drove us to the office for our check-in and tour of the facility and our room that included a loft and private pool area. We rested, our first night, and enjoyed our private pool, the main pool area [where we received fresh fruit kabobs] and a very nice, quiet, remainder of our stay. Our breakfast at Luna, and it's breathtaking view were like no other place that we have ever visited. We would return for another beautifully, quiet, visit.

The top notch service began with our correspondence prior to arrival where all of our questions were answered and transportation and tours reserved. We enjoyed private transportation from the airport (although our driver wasn’t there upon our arrival so we did have to call and wait 20 minutes). Upon arrival we were treated like royalty by the staff. Refreshing tropical drinks and a cool washcloth were waiting at check in. We were upgraded to a suite which was amazing! Large living room with sofa and eating area with fridge, separate spacious bedroom and private bath with huge shower and two sinks. Everything was clean and in working order, especially the air conditioning. Along with a small balcony off the living room, we had a private huge second balcony on the top floor with views down to the ocean. You feel like you are living among the treetops.|We enjoyed massages at the Terra Spa with a beautiful stone room and wall of windows looking out at nature. Our masseuse was professional and skilled, able to provide a full body massage in 60 minutes. |We ate breakfast and dinner at the onsite restaurant daily, dining in the open air with views of nature below and the Pacific Ocean out the distance. One night the clouds parted to provide a beautiful sunset. The menu is extensive for a small resort and provided both traditional Costa Rican food, along with a variety of other cuisine including delicious sushi and cocktails. The gourmet meals were a highlight with special touches like sorbet during dinner to cleanse the pallet and fresh breads and fruit in the morning. We would have tried every dish on the menu if we could have. Only disappointment was the lounge was being refurbished and was closed during our stay.|We also swam in the multi-level pools and took advantage of the free shuttles to the National Park. Our private concierge Jose took care of every need and was always available by text. We had a wonderful experience and couldn’t more highly recommend.

The hotel is beautiful, the service and experience is amazing. Beautiful animals and views! Thank you Daiver for always attending to our needs, guiding us through our stay and shared recommendations. The restaurant at the hotel has amazing breakfast and dinner, Ricardo was very helpful on food choices. Also gave us snacks as we checked out! Andres Thank you for always giving us rides back and forth and helping with our luggage, always pleasant conversations. This place is close to everything and you can drive or use their shuttle.

We had a fantastic visit this week. Got a great deal staying in the studio (off season and weekday). The room is attractive and a good size. The highlights were the staff -as everyone says they are so helpful even when I made some extra requests- multi-level pool with rushing water and gorgeous views, and the delicious meals! Also we saw sloths and macaws and other critters like geckos lizards and butterflies. Oh and there is a very special greeting that sort of sums up the welcoming feel of this special place!
