9 Flavorful Indian and South Asian Restaurants in Denver | Eater Denver

"And now for something completely different: At this dim-lit little Indian-American joint at the edge of Cap Hill, juicy, zesty chicken tikka masala serves as a fabulously saucy topping for everything from cheesesteaks to pizza to fries. Bigger on beef? Sure enough, there’s even a tikka masala burger." - Ruth Tobias

Google
This place gave me Indian/Mediterranean cafe vibes. I love that they were opened late because sometimes people just need a late night meal and there aren’t a lot of options to pick from. My husband and I started with the boneless wings tossed in the Aleppo pepper dry seasoning. The seasoning was delicious, not really all that spicy. Then we ordered the Beef Lamb Gyro and the Lamb Tikka Masala burger. We can handle spice, but usually Indian spice is a different kind of heat so we got the medium spice level for both. In my opinion my burger didn’t have any spice. I only tried one small bite of the gyro so I’m not sure the spice level. The gyro meat was tender and very tasty. The burger patty on the burger was also tasty, but I felt like it was a smash burger because it was so thin. We ended with the Baklava and that was also tasty. The staff was very nice and helpful as well. I would definitely recommend this place. If we were under the influence I could see us loving the food even more.

Google
You see a place with this many reviews and a 4.9 and you want to know why. Came in for lunch on a Saturday. I ordered the chicken Momo's which were excellent and the Masala lamb burger. I can't really complain. The burger was flavorful and the fries were decent. The dishes pictured totaled $37 with no drink. Is that expensive? Maybe. They do have masala pizza which is probably amazing. 5 stars it is I guess even though I am feeling more like a 4.40, there was nothing bad about my experience but I'm not blown away and I wouldn't say you absolutely need to come here if not for the novelty.

Google
10/10, I have no notes. The food was all exceptional. Every single thing we ordered, I would order again. The wait staff was SUPER friendly and helpful. It smells amazing in there. Get the spicy cheese garlic naan, trust me. To the person who insists they’re “buying reviews,” I have over 30 detailed ones. Nice try.

Google
GAIA MASALA IS BOTTING REVIEWS! Actually shocking how greasy the food was here. I’ve dined in person before and it was okay. Decided to try their Gyro and Shawarma to go. When I opened the packaging there was an abhorrent amount of oil… like the most oil i’ve ever seen on food. Absolutely inedible and not recommended to eat here.

Google
Unassuming gem at the foot of Capitol Hill. A family member recommended GMB to us. We dined in and really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and the great variety on their menu. Individual server was very busy doing administrative work, but we ordered the spicy GM burger, and the masala cheesesteak, and masala fries. Everything was a delicious fusion and great portions. If you try the masala fries, I’d recommend upgrading your side as the appetizer looked like a big portion and there was enough for two of us to share as a side. Can’t wait to return and try it again!

Google
Some of the best Indian food I have ever had! The lady who took our order was also super nice and gave us some good recommendations for what to have next time we come in! The garlic cheese Naan was the best I’ve ever had! 10/10 would recommend.

Google
Food was fantastic! Chicken tikka masala cheesesteak had good flavor and spice. The vegetable samosas were also really flavorful and perfectly fried. Portions are generous and the prices are fair. Their happy hour on Fridays & Saturdays from 3-7pm feature $6 mango chili margarita and $3.50 beers - where else can you find that in LoDo?! The service was also so kind and attentive. We'll definitely be back.

Google
Absolutely loved our experience at Gaia Masala! We ordered the chicken burger, beef burger, and the Philly steak sub - each one was full of bold flavor and perfectly prepared. You can tell the kitchen puts a lot of care into their food. We also had the cheese masala fries, which were the perfect side - spicy, cheesy, and delicious! What really impressed me was their selection of three unique sauces: a creamy white sauce, flavorful masala sauce, and a smoky, spicy chipotle - style sauce. They added such a fun twist to the meal. The vibe of the place was amazing too - cozy, clean, and filled with beautiful indoor plants that made it feel fresh and relaxing. And the best part? The service. A young Nepali lady was taking care of us, and she was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Her hospitality truly elevated the whole experience. Highly recommend this spot - delicious food, great atmosphere, and top-notch service. Definitely coming back! 🍔🍟🌿✨

Yelp
Amazing customer service, everyone we met here was very kind and friendly. You can order food at the counter or you can sit down with your party and dine in. Very chill and casual ambiance. Everyone loved the Gaia mint peach drink, it was a refreshing way to start. We ordered many dishes and shared, but some of the favorites were the cheesy tandoori fries, garlic naan, and hamburgers. They have the most spiciest hamburgers here. We had people literally sweating at our table! Only order that if you can handle the heat. Parking lot outside, always nice to have a dedicated lot in Denver. Awesome place, make sure to stop by here!

Yelp
We are indian food enthusiasts. The is the best we've ever had! Hira helped us and he advised us well on the best choices. He checked on us a few times to make sure all was well. Place was very clean and welcoming. My only complaint is that he didn't give me the recipe for the dishes we had, and we have to come here forever now!

Yelp
This is a table service restaurant but has a fast casual vibe. Menu is confusing- so many fusions! Indian, italian, mediterranean, AMerican. The vegetarian potato pea samosas are really tasty. It comes with two and a slightly sweet sauce. The flavors were great. My friend ordered the vegetarian tikka masala burger. He liked it a lot. The masala fries- I thought they were OK. I prefer normal fries with ketchup over it. I got the chicken tikka masala cheesesteak which is apparently one of the most popular items. I thought it was OK. It fell apart easily and I just wasn't a fan of both the sauce and the chicken. It tasted dry and like it needed more flavor- spices or something, I'm not sure. Medium spicy- I didn't taste any spicy at all. Sad I didn't like this. I do want to try the tikka masala burger one time. It sounds interesting. Service... they were very nice. But first, they brought the appetizer and my meal out at the same time. We waited maybe 20 minutes until my friend's meal came. He ended up getting my order of masala fries and I didn't get any fries even tho I ordered them. By the time my friend's meal came, my meal was cold (I didn't want to eat it until he got his). So I asked if they could heat mine up. At first, they said no but then they said okay. While they heated it up, my friend's meal then got cold waiting for me. Haha. They brought me the fries that my friend ordered and then forgot to give me the two sauces that came with my meal so I had to ask for that. There was just a lot of things that went wrong and the place wasn't even busy. But they were very very nice about it.

Yelp
First meal in Denver and it was absolutely amazing! The customer service was amazing. The restaurant had a very nice vibe. The music was a bit too raunchy for me at times. Back to the food! It was amazing! This place is a must visit! The very nice and cute Nepalese guy came to check on us which was very sweet. I told him to add some Nepalese food to the menu.

Yelp
Drinks and food are so good! Wait time is minimal! The best part abouth this place is the vibe! It's a chill spot and great for pre gaming before bar hopping or to end your night after bar crawling! Staff is super friendly!

Yelp
Food is so good here. Service is great. I ordered the coconut gin drink and the server made sure I was ok with it being on the dessert cocktail side which I appreciate. My buddy and I split the chicken masala burger and the beef masala burger and the servicer let me know that the beef is the more popular of the two. But in my opinion I liked the chicken more but when I come back I'm going to get a double chicken was a little thin. The onion rings were so good! And I asked a server for a hot sauce that wasn't on the table and he gave me a moj moj sauce (tomato based sauce) and that sauce was sooooo good! Couldn't get enough. Would recommend and will be coming back

Yelp
Really well made chicken and lamb. Truly. Great service from Nishth. Willing to go back to this place with great parking and great atmosphere.

Yelp
We were very happy to stumbled to this spot at 1am on a weekday! The atmosphere was very lively with loud music. Definitely a spot for a good meal and drinks with friends. Service there was great. The servers were all friendly and attentive. For appetizers, we had the vegetable samosa. The dish came with only 2 small samosas. It was perfectly fried. The filling was very flavorful. No dipping sauce was needed for me. We order 3 fried wings and was very disappointed. It was very tiny - do NOT get the wings! As recommended, we got the chicken tiki masala cheese steak. It was good! It was served with a side of yogurt and cheese. We also ordered the traditional butter chicken served with a side of rice. We also got the garlic naan to go with the butter chicken. Our favorite was the butter chicken! That is a must try!

Yelp
All amazing as usual even late at night. Service was wonderful and portions were generous, and even though it's fast casual they packed the leftovers up for us nicely. Loved the fries--great honey mustard and bit portions. I've been here a few times and I'm sad I will be moving out of the area but hope this restaurant lasts!

Yelp
Found one of my new favorite Indian/Mediterranean places in Denver! We ordered the tikka masala burger with fries, and beef lamb gyro Beef lamb gyro: 5/5 This was our favorite! The gyro was soooo flavorful and slightly crispy at the edge. They provided a generous amount of meat too. Loved all the vegetables that came with it, and the pita was nice and fluffy. Would order this again. TIKKA MASALA BURGER: 2/5 This was alright - don't really think the patty was flavorful. The tikka masala flavor didn't really come through, so wasn't too impressed with this. FRIES 5/5: Loved how crispy the fries were. It was both crispy on the outside with fluffy potato on the inside. Would get this as a side every time Service was good, the food came out fast. I came here with little expectations since I'm from California where there's plentiful Mediterranean food but this place was awesome!!

Yelp
For those who do not know... masala burgers are a thing and I have been on THE hunt for a good masala burger joint in Denver. My absolute favorite is the Burger and Kabob Hut in Seattle. So when I found out that Gaia had opened a Denver location, I had to try it out. Gaia has a huge menu and does everything under the sun... masala burgers, momo's, pizzas, calzones, Indian food... you name it. They're owned by a local Nepali family and you can tell it's locally owned from the vibe. It was clean and had lots of parking. We tried: - Masala burgers... I had chicken hot which was pretty spicy but not crazy. Chicken is for sure better than the beef. - fried chicken momo's - pretty good/standard - chicken masala calzone (meh) The stars of the show: - the cheesy fries (with lamb) - the dry paneer We would go back for the two dishes alone. They also had two great Indian beers (Tajmahal is my fave). Their mango lassi is also pretty good. I wanted more flavor and spice with my burger and the waitress brought out a yummy, spicy tandoori sauce which hit the spot. My only complaint is that in some dishes, the flavor was overpowering spice (red chili powder) and lacked some complexity. Hence, missing the one star. But overall... pretty good for Denver!

Yelp
Stopped in last night for dinner. The staff is super friendly and helpful. This menu has a little bit of everything so there is something for everyone. I love Indian food and my daughter is a picky eater and does not. She had the cheeseburger (medium rare) and fries and I had the shrimp biryani (medium spice.) Her burger was a little overcooked but still tasty and the fries were perfectly crisp. My biryani was well seasoned and tasty but the shrimp were very overcooked. This is such an interesting mixed menu concept, that I will definitely come back to try other items.

Yelp
Food, service and price is great. One of the best late night places in Denver metro area. Highly recommend it. Khicken tikka sandwiches and chicken korma are to die for.
google avatar

Alyssa H.

Yelp
Everything here is made with care, and while it all tasted good, the cheesy masala fries, tikka masala cheesesteak, and coconut mint mixed drink were the winners here. Those onion rings were made to perfection, too. I couldn't find their drink menu online and wish I'd gotten a pic! Loved the options and creativity in drinks and food. The tikka masala burger was good but I wanted more dimension in flavor. Still ate it all! Yum! We were greeted with kindness and knowledge of the menu, including fan faves. The place was easy to chill in and lose track of time. This is an underrated spot and I'm looking forward to trying more!

Yelp
I can't believe I just learned about this place. It is THE BOMB. American / Asian / Indian Fusion with a giant selection of Vegan options. Casual counter order concept and serve-yourself soda fountain but also they have a full bar. So much fun!!

Cherie L.

Yelp
Omg!! So not going to lie, I was like umm not sure if Tikki masala burger makes sense. Welp! I was wrong. It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! they really made this cooked cow with love and tenderness. Lots of juices and flavor in every might. Who needs fries?! Granted they were good but sorry got no room for it! Hands down! Great job! I know there are new in town... and so am I. But after searching far and wide for something different and delicious and in walking distance. This place stood out. I found it. This area has a lot of great cuisine so you are going to find something that will be your pick. But at least try this place beef burger tikki masala!! Oh had the honey naan too. It was good haha. Ambience is so welcoming and humble. I love it. They check on me, and make sure I do not need anything. They were good at recommendations, while listening to Taylor Swift haha. Anyway here are the photos.
google avatar

Tavani C.

Yelp
I licked the paper clean like an animal. This is the best Desi style burger and fries I've had outside of India. They take their spice levels seriously, and the veggie burger doesn't just have a tired looking piece of lettuce, but fresh cucumber and other veggies as well. The tikka masala fries are great. Try both the Tikka masala sauce and the slightly sweeter sauce for a creative take on the dish that's found in every Indian restaurant. Price point is steep (at least for delivery), coming in at $26 for one person.

Yelp
This menu is so big and covers such a wide variety of types of food, that I decided to order a few appetizers. I ordered the samosa, cheese samosa, falafel, and a regular order of fries. When my food arrived I was in shock and realized I could have ordered half of the items - the portions here are huge! The cheese samosa was delicious, I think that is a must order for future visits. The traditional samosa was good too, not the best one I've ever had but I still enjoyed it. The falafel was also good, once again not the best I've had but enjoyable. I couldn't believe how large the falafel balls were. The real star of the falafel app was the hummus. It tasted so fresh and was delicious, definitely worth ordering on its own! The fries were fries. I definitely am interested in returning and trying new things off of menu. I enjoyed everything I ordered, which I was surprised by because I was kind of thinking if a menu has that many options that could mean everything is mediocre.
google avatar

Keerthana C.

Yelp
The burgers were ok.. expected a bit more on the flavor side esp since I'm from India but overall nice taste n texture
google avatar

Daisy D.

Yelp
I'd never had a chicken tikka masala pizza and thought it would be the perfect blend of two of my favorite foods. Sad to say that this was not my favorite dish or experience. The cheese that was layered on the pizza was rubbery and could be peeled off pretty easily which is exactly what I did to most of it, which felt like I committed a pizza crime. The ratio of cheese to chicken korma was overpowering and the sauce that came with the pizza tasted heavily of mayo. The veggie korma was pretty flavorful and I would return only for that.

Nick ..

Yelp
Amazing food, lots of interesting options. Got Hot Milk Tea and Tikka Massala Sandwich and both were great! One guy seemed to be very aware and trying to make sure everything was working but seemed like things are changing or it's newer.
google avatar

Dee D.

Yelp
Wow outstanding! Service and the food! Is blow your mind! Chicken tikka masala sandwich beat ever! Hummus yes! And the masala chai thank goodness authentic
google avatar

Janice G.

Yelp
The service and portions at this restaurant are consistently amazing, even during late hours. Despite being a fast casual establishment, they provided excellent service and packed our leftovers neatly. The fries were particularly enjoyable, with a delicious honey mustard sauce and generous portions. I have visited this place multiple times and it saddens me that I will be moving away from the area, but I sincerely hope that this restaurant continues to thrive.
google avatar

Sandy C.

Yelp
Found this little gem because it's close to my work- Wow! I tried the vegetarian jackfruit masala cheese steak... SO GOOD. Service is friendly too...highly recommend this place for something a little different than traditional Indian fare (although they have that too)
google avatar

Helen S.

Yelp
The burgers are okay, I think the cucumber is a nice refreshing twist. My patty was like a smash burger & if I knew I would've ordered something else. Fries are pretty solid. I ordered the samosas. They were very different from the samosas that I'm used to but I mean it's fried, so it was still delicious. They're definitely not your typical samosa though :/ They have a lot of options for people with various dietary restrictions.

Oscar C.

Yelp
Highly underrated joint! The Tikki Masala Chicken Cheesesteak and Gyro were amazing! It wasn't too busy so service was quick. Plus, free mango lassi when you follow them on social media. Everything was so good!
google avatar

Nancy O.

Yelp
This place was so good that I'm still thinking about it! So many vegan and vegetarian versions of Indian mainstays, like Tofu Tikka Masala...sorry I got distracted remembering the deliciousness that was this dish. I even ate the leftovers for breakfast the next morning because I couldn't wait for lunch! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Cameron S.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the customer service was one of the best I've ever experienced. The man behind the counter had the happiest and most fun attitude and made my dinning experience all the better. He walked me through the menu and I ordered the most delicious garlic cheesy naan and chicken shawarma everrrrr. The ambiance is also very cute and fun. They killed the bar decorations. 10/10 recommend.
google avatar

Logan B.

Yelp
Delicious food and attentive employees. It was a bit different than I was used to but it was a good different. It was really tasty food. And it wasn't busy. I'll go again for sure.
google avatar

Gregory H.

Yelp
The Tikka masala burger is a perfect fusion on Indian and American cuisine. The chicken shawarma was also amazing!
google avatar

Peter S.

Yelp
This place has amazing food! Not only are their Indian dishes great but their other menu items are incredible too. My wife had the cheesesteak last night. It was huge. Two thirds of the way through she said she was full but the flavor was so good she couldn't stop eating it. Gaia Masala is open from 10AM until 3AM every day. If I still stayed out until the bars closed, this would definitely be my late night spot. They have their own full bar as well. The staff is courteous, friendly and efficient. They have traditional burgers and other menu items but at its core I believe this place is a fusion restaurant, with Indian cuisine being the thread that runs throughout the menu. Fusion places were big about twenty years. Most of them, IMHO, couldn't really pull it off. This place absolutely does and in such interesting ways. We can't wait to go back and try their burgers and Mediterranean food!

Libby M.

Yelp
Delicious late-night food! Priya was wonderfully attentive and helpful, and we LOVED our meal. We had the paneer korma and the masala burger. The burger was a deliciously harmonious fusion of Indian spice with a fantastic burger. The paneer korma was warm and comforting and perfectly spicy. It was bright and cheery inside but not loud. Highly recommend, and we will be back many times!
google avatar

Marie S.

Yelp
If you can handle some real heat get the Fire Tikka Masala Burger. It is delicious and will absolutely set your mouth on fire. The beef tikka masala burger (hot) was also delicious and spicy. The fries were perfect along with the sauce that came on the side. Vegetable samosas were very tasty as well. Staff was friendly & service was quick!

Kara G.

Yelp
Fun spot with adjacent parking! Enjoyed my Paneer Biriyani very much. Portions are huge! You walk up and place your order before seating. They also have a cute, small bar setup! Our hostess/waitress was from Nepal.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
What a hidden gem, so glad my friend told me to check this place out. Order at the counter kind of place. Food came quickly. They're open late. I loved the masala burger, samosa, and perfectly cooked fries. Lot of vegan options for vegans. Friendly service, can't recommend enough!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
This is by bar the best chicken tikka masala and garlic cheese naan I have EVER had!!!

DK S.

Yelp
It has been a long time since my family has had a meal this bad. It is a casual vibe so we weren't expecting it to be fine Indian food. We were pressured to up order everything. As it was it was $65 no drinks for 3 people. The masala burgers were flavorless with no masala and icky cucumbers. The chicken Philly was ok but not great. All three of us have had tummy issues for days since. We won't be going back. They may have been good once upon a time but it sure wasn't our experience this weekend.
google avatar

Stephen E.

Yelp
Great Indian food- Lamb was very flavorful and Korma curry tasted very authentic. Also the chef/ server was pretty funny too- altogether a great experience and well priced. Will return soon for more taste sensations !
google avatar

Yelp
Absolute best Indian Food in Denver. I'm going through a break up right now and I couldn't do it without the Paneer Saag and Garlic Naan. Thank God for this place. I love it more than I could love a child.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Friendly staff. Delicious food.Great veggie and vegan options :)

Yelp
The absolute best late night food anywhere in the Denver area! Super awesome people and so welcoming.

Yelp
TL;DR - Unique, delicious and would return! We ordered the chicken tikka cheesesteak and it was WILDLY delicious. Messy. Saucy. Creamy. Everything. Don't think cheesesteak. Think chicken tikka masala inside a tortilla and then pressed on the grill. Yum. Get plenty of napkins. We also got the masala burger which was good. We ordered medium spice and it definitely has a kick. The burger patty itself was just OK but the accoutrements made it. I've never tasted anything like it and I would go back for it. Here are the other noteworthy pieces to this puzzle: - Many of the tables had empty ketchup containers and I couldn't help but wonder where has all of the ketchup gone in the two weeks they have been open. - The chalk outline of dead bodies are still on the ground from Illegal Burger. - The menu has many a typo. Many. I wanted to offer the guy to buy my meal and I would help edit the menu. - The employee was very nice and offered to cut all of our food in half. This was nice, although the foil shredded so I had to pick out shards of tin foil. Also, my husband kept taking the bigger half and that will be a conversation in couples therapy next week.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
they have the nicest staff and they have many vegan options which are very very good and they stay open late
google avatar

Vivienne J.

Yelp
All around fantastic!! I'm glad I chose to stop here for dinner on my one night stay in Denver, and I can't wait to come back the next time I visit. Phenomenal vegetarian/vegan selection (but lots of options for many diets; their meats are halal, for example), open late, friendly service, nice interior, convenient takeout process. It smelled amazing inside the restaurant from the moment I walked in - I think maybe I was smelling the garlic naan? Once I read in another review that at least one of the chefs is Nepalese, I knew I had to try the momo. I was just recently lamenting to my friend about the lack of Nepalese food where we live, and the food I missed most was vegetable momo. These did not disappoint, even though I can be a little picky. The momo themselves were hand pleated, clearly made with great care, and tasty. The dipping sauce took the whole flavor to the next level - it had the perfect amount of spice to complement the milder veggie filling. The portion size was large enough to split with a couple people as an app. I had it as a meal and had enough for leftovers.

Graham J.

Yelp
Food is unique and amazing. They have so many different options for vegan/vegetarian and carnivores alike! People that work here are super nice and helpful. Some of the best quick food in Denver. Can't recommend enough.

Matt S.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Get the masala fry's with lamb, they are amazing! the service is great as well.

Christopher M.

Yelp
Went to the Gaia Masala & Burger in Boulder, up on The Hill. Large portions, for a decent price. The gyros were some of the best my family and I have ever had. The Greek Baklava was also some of the best I (being Lebanese-American) have ever had from a restaurant.
google avatar

Ausha S.

Yelp
The food here is INCREDIBLE, everything I've tried so far is is unmatched - love the fusion of the menu, I get excited to try something new every time I come in. And the staff are so friendly and fun, they're always so attentive. The building has parking and it's open late which I love. it's a cute spot with great decor and good music. Definitely my go-to late night food spot

Tim B.

Yelp
Such unique and delicious takes on Indian food. Highly recommend whether you're in the mood for the cheesesteaks or just want a normal curry plate.

Yelp
Great vegan options. Affordable, large portions and maybe the best fries I have r ever had with this vegan burger.
