Probably the best Philly cheese steak I've ever had. Chicken salad is great also. Good prices! Nothing fancy about this place just great food prepared to order and generous portions. Try the homemade jalapenos. Good potatoe salad and macaroni salad. Gails mom is the cook.

Excellent! Great food and a ton of it for the price. Super friendly staff. The Korean BBQ beef was tender without being too fatty. The offered extra rice and sauce if needed. Seriously one of the best meals and staff I’ve experienced in a long time. The setting was a bit “unassuming” but the juxtaposition of food and staff was simply wonderful!

Found this diamond in the rough today. I travel a lot around LA OC area. I often look for a delish spot to go. I was pleasantly surprised to find Gail’s. This place is tucked away in the back of an industrial area. The decor was nothing fancy but suitable for the location. I ordered the teriyaki combo with chicken and beef. I then noticed they had Korean BBQ beef so I ordered one of those also.Both plates had lots of delicious meats vegetables and rice. Portions were good sized and prices were reasonable. They had specials of the day and also a different fresh soup of the day. There was enough food choices to satisfy everyone’s needs. The girl at the counter was very pleasant and answered my questions thoughtfully. Oh the pickled jalapeño was awesome. Will be going back.

The counter person/daughter of owner is hilarious. I got a chicken breast sandwich, and she said I ordered the most boring item that they had (It was sooooo good). She picked the right person as i enjoy such interactions. Prices are pretty good as well.

The food was good, but the wait time was a real issue. I went during my lunch break and it took 21 minutes just to get a sandwich. I work nearby, but honestly, that’s way too long when you’re on limited time. I didn’t even get to enjoy the food — I had to take it home, and by then it wasn’t fresh anymore. Definitely a bummer. If you’re planning to eat here during lunch, I highly recommend calling ahead to place your order. Otherwise, be prepared for a long wait. I don’t understand how it took 21 minutes to make a sandwich. It just doesn’t make sense, and I left frustrated. The lady at the counter was really sweet, which I appreciated, but for me, the wait time ruined the experience. If you’re in a rush, I’d suggest going to Subway — it might cost a little more, but at least you’ll get your food in under 5 minutes. I probably won’t be going back for a while.

Gail herself is so wonderful! I apologize if that's not her name at the front counter. I've been going here for only 6 years, but every time I do go, it's more than pleasant. Daily specials, prepackaged peppers, utensils, and sides all ready to go while you're always greedy with such charm. Order ahead over the phone or come park and order in line. You'll be sure to leave with a full stomach and a satisfied experience. Its tucked away near the rear right side of the two building complex on the first floor, but you'll spot it now with their huge green Gails sign outside. There is always some sort of current movie playing on the big screen, and you always feel engaged if you decide to eat at one of the tables in there. Best cafe for miles around. Check it out and feel the difference. This lady and crew deserve the hype.

Great filling and tasty sandwiches! This was my first time trying Gail's out so I asked for a recommendation. They asked me what sort of protein I was feeling and whether I wanted something hot or cold. I went with chicken and either hot/cold. I ended up ordering a chicken salad sandwich on squaw bread and a hot philly chicken sandwich. Both the sandwiches came with a side so I picked up a small container of macaroni salad and potato salad for me and my spouse. The front of house threw in some teriyaki sauce and pickled jalapenos to go along with the sandwiches, packaged all the items with care, and personally handed the meal over to me. She is so nice! The service is incredible and welcoming. The place is clean and had a lot of locals dining in for lunch. You can tell that a lot of care and effort is taken in maintaining the space. It was a hot day, but inside was pleasant with both the AC running, a fan to circulate the air, and an air purifier. The newest Superman movie was also playing while I was waiting for the food (not too long even though it was lunch rush). I am definitely coming back to try out their other options.

Ok, I'm not trying to take away from the tastiness of this place but the service is so incredibly exceptional that I'd give the 5 stars solely based on that. Coming to Gail's made my day. Was dirty from a structure fire and the lovely woman at the front register took amazing care of me to the point that it made my day. Got the cheesesteak and love it. I'll be coming back they know how to take care of their customers. lol, I had cheese in my beard and she wiped it off for me. Hahahaha

This place is fabulous!!! OMG Sandwiches are loaded with whatever you choose,prices are reasonable, service is fast and friendly,too. The menu provides a vast variety of choices for breakfast and lunch, plus sides galore. Did I mention salads? Yep, those,too. And soups! I would give them 10 stars if I could!

I had lunch here with some coworkers the other day for the first time and we were met with the friendliest woman at the cashier. The place is pretty small with a few tables but inviting. Service: The service is impeccable. They are very efficient with maintaining and handing out orders. The Asian lady at the cashier was very kind and energetic. I felt that her energy really brought up mood of this place. Food Consensus: The menu has sandwich options and I opted for the Tuna Melt. I thought the tuna melt was decent and the pea soup was interesting. The soup was better than I thought but I don't think I would get it again. Value for Money: The prices were average for a quick lunch. I will try another sandwich or the chicken curry next time.

The pea and ham soup is my favorite at Gail's. All her food is fresh and delicious. It is a little whole in the wall known by all that work in the area. Gail's is 10/10 what ever you order you will be completely satisfied. The sandwiches are HUGH !

Highly recommend coming here to get their lunch specials! Changes every day, but it always hits. I got the soup and sandwhich deal, clam chowder and chicken salad sandwhich. Great flavors and didn't break the bank. Recommend trying to come before or after the lunch rush as it does get packed. You can call and order ahead as well. Service is always on point even if you're just picking up to go.

Yelp needs a new category - Hidden Secret Service - amazingly nice and welcoming. Offered a free side even though we wanted to pay for it Food - Japanese curry. Legit like moms makes it. And the portion is absolutely HUGE. Turkey club - chocked full of meat. This is definitely not a subway kinda fillings place. You will be full Price best value I've seen! Overall - every once in awhile you find these great spots that you would never find from the street. True neighborhood gem with good food and great service. Where all the locals come.

I heard about the stellar service here and yelpers weren't wrong, Gail's employees were super friendly and treated me like I was family! I picked up: a chicken salad club with clam chowder $10 and a chicken philly sandwich w potato salad $10 The sandwiches themselves were okay with average bread but the prices are amazing! Both the sandwiches were huge with tons of chicken salad and chicken pieces in the philly. The potato salad are the Best I've ever had and wish the portions were bigger. The clam chowder was also tasty albeit a little bit too thick on the corn starch. With all the inflated prices everywhere, this place deserves credit for maintaining a stable place for us hungry foodies everywhere. Just a quick note, this place is located in a weird industrial area but ignore your instincts to u-turn and look for the green GAIL's sign in the front. I asked and they've been there since 1975!

First time here at Gail's. I really like this place. The service is great. The lady behind the counter is super kind. I tried the Philly Cheesesteak and the Cold cut. Both come with choice of side Mac salad or soup. This is a really good place for a quick lunch. They also have Teriyaki and other Mexican dishes also. I will be a regular here.

The egg sandwich is delicious but the star of all sandwiches has to be the chicken breast club sandwich, everything I've tried from Gail's taste homemade and made with love and the cashier is so nice and makes you feel so welcomed she gives a great tour of the menu for first timers and makes sure everything is taken care of properly, as for the ambiance they have a TV in the eating area what more could you want while eat a good sandwich.

Food was delicious. Can't wait to go again and try something different on the menu. Service was fast and quick. I would recommend ordering for pick up it gets pretty busy in the afternoon around 12. Cute little spot.

Gail's has the best sandwiches I have ever had!! The portions are very generous. The chicken salad on squaw bread is my favorite!!! All the ingredients are so fresh. The customer service is over the top. I'm so happy I work close to here and can have it all the time.

I happen to be in the area and stopped by to my surprise they was closed when I asked for a menu they the company didn't have one or any as a. Foodie this is disappointing not only for the early closing but not providing any menu of there business.

Stopped by for a quick lunch, right at rush hour. To speed up the line, the line cook came out and also started to take orders. The ladies did a great job trying to get everyone set as fast as possible. I ordered a cold turkey sandwich with cheese on wheat, with a bag of chips. The sandwich was stacked with turkey, a great relief to see. I wasn't a fan of their mayo selection but the turkey over powered. They seem to offer a variety of things. I'll be back if I'm in the area and need a quick meal.

This place is a gem. Staff are fantastic, food is tasty and lots of it, be hungry! Got take out but from what I can see there was a lot of people dining and there was a line. Highly recommended and extremely good value for money. See you guys tomorrow for the pastrami!

Gail is the bomb yo! Everyday she is back there hustling to get everyone's custom orders done just right. She is super nice and packs each food item with care. Be warned, the word is out about how great she is. So if you go there at noon, there could be a line out the door. But believe me when I say that is a good problem. It means everyone knows there is something worth waiting for. Pro Tip, call ahead and pick it up when it is busy. She also has the latest hit movie playing on a big screen in the dining area. This is the only way I would watch The Flash.

My love/hate relationship with Yelp continues. Love that I found this hidden gem on here. Hate that I had to hunt through like 5 pages of nonsense to find it even though it's like 10 minutes away from my house. The Good: The food, the customer service, take your pick. The cashier is always so friendly and inviting, even when it was my first time there, she made me feel like I had been a customer for years. Some of my favorites: The chicken salad sandwich, philly cheese steak and their Potato salad is really addicting. I dare say it's even better than my mom's potato salad. I'm not sure what they do to their chicken salad sandwich, but it's like nothing I've ever had before. It's fluffy and melts in your mouth. The Bad: I honestly can't think of anything....and I've been coming here weekly for the past couple months.

I had this place bookmarked for a long time before I even got a chance to try it. It closes on weekends and 3pm on weekdays. Showed up here at 10:30am and it wasn't busy at all. I got the chicken cheesesteak and the Philly cheesesteak. The beef sandwich was definitely better. I didn't experience the rudeness mentioned by other yelpers, but I also didn't deal with the chef/owner. The sandwiches were decent and the soup wasn't bad, but it wasn't something that I'd be going out of my way to get again. I'd come back to try other dishes if I'm in the area, but not going out of it way for it.

Lucky me, it was curry day!! Nice people, fresh and fast food at a good price. An actual hidden gem. Plenty of parking. Go!

Disclaimer: my review is based on going here one time. Been wanting to try this place, you know, to support local businesses. And it's very convenient for a lunch while at work so I took the plunge earlier this week. I was craving chicken teriyaki, so I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki plate ($13 with tax). I will say that the portion they give is huge, and the plate was full of cooked veggies, chicken and rice, enough for 2 if not 3 meals tbh. Nothing wrong with the veggies and rice BUT the chicken was what makes this a 1 star review. Unfortunately, the chicken (breast meat, not my favorite but healthier than dark meat I guess) was WAY WAY OVERCOOKED and absolutely TASTELESS. No amount of teriyaki sauce and hot sauce could rescue the poor dried up meat. Ate the veggies, some rice and just a few pieces of the DRY AF chicken before giving up and calling it a fail. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing because it seems like people really like the sandwiches here. But for being a Korean-owned place, chicken teriyaki should be something so easy to make decently and well, they definitely failed. Will not be back based on this because it was just that bad and disappointing.

This is just the greatest place! I popped in here with my dad for lunch today and I'm sad it's not closer to my office or we'd be here all the time! The food is delicious. The portions are large (enough for 2 meals!) And the service is truly delightful! I'm looking forward to being back in the area so we can return!

I was skeptical when my secretary told me about Gail's. She told me that Gail's was a great place to get lunch with huge portions. It took me a month or two before I finally tried them out. Gail's is a small little deli located in an industrial complex of Santa Ana. It is located in the back of the complex. You could easily pass right by it if you did not know what you are looking for. It seems to be run by a Korean mother and daughter. The daughter is the one who takes your order and is the cashier. The mother looks like she makes sandwiches. A Hispanic woman also works there making the hot food, like their beef bowls. The daughter is nice and friendly and seemed to know all her customers. During my first time there, she knew that I was a newbie. The sandwiches that ajumma makes are great. She puts about an inch of meat in the bread. I've had both their ham sandwich and their roast beef sandwich. It's a great bargain at about $6. Don't tell any, but, the daughter sometimes will give you free soup if the sandwich you are ordering is not on their lunch special. Their beef bowl is huge and would be considered a plate at other places. It's a bulgogi bowl with vegetables. Unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed with their bulgogi bowl. I thought it was too sweet. After 3 visits here, I am no longer skeptical. The daughter already recognizes my face. I am a fan of the sandwiches here. They probably don't use lunch meat in from a high end supplier, but, it is still good stuff with all the meat they put in the sandwiches. I'll be back when I'm in the mood for a sandwich. I guess the secretary was correct.

I have been eating here for a few years. Everything on the menu is delicious. The salads are my favorite! Chicken Salad Salad or the Grilled Chicken Cesar are my go-to. Juree and her crew, love mom, are the best. Portions are very generous, and pricing is very reasonable. They also provide great entertainment if you dine in. The latest movies are playing on the TV.

My new thing here is the turkey on whole wheat, no mayo and added avocado. And I get some jalapanos on the side. I could never really eat hot stuff but slowly building up the tolerance. Her mom puts alot of turkey meat on it and alot of avocado. Also got the small fruit. Last time the owner asked 'where's your korean friend'. That caught me off guard. I couldn't believe she had such a good memory because that was 3 years ago. Very good memory.

I started going to Gail's about 18 years ago when I worked down the street. It was my usually go-to place for lunch for almost a decade. Juree is the absolute best... Even now she recognizes me! Even after so many years Gail's offers the same consistent good food! Everything from their Cali rolls (Ginormous portions) to the tuna melt to even their veggie sandwiches are to die for!! Stop in, you won't regret it.

Holy cow I had a hard time finding this place. It's tucked away among some industrial buildings and there was a lot of construction going on around there. I eventually had to call them. Over the phone they seemed really busy. I called in my order ahead of time and when you arrive there it was just getting done. It seems like their lunch rush ended right at about 12:15. I immediately fell in love with the woman behind the counter. She was very friendly and worked efficiently. I ordered a grilled cheese that came with a side (I chose mac salad) and a grilled chicken Caesar salad. Came to $12. The grilled cheese? Pretty delicious. The smell of the garlic butter made me want to pull over and eat it right in my car. The salad had a huge portion of chicken. I can't wait to come back and try other things.

I've been meaning to write an updated review for a while now. Better late than never, I suppose! When I first reviewed Gail's, I chose a sandwich that may not have been the best item on the menu. I have since been back for chicken salad sammies, specials like the CA roll, Korean BBQ Beef Bowl (one of my absolute favs), curry, spaghetti, chicken & rice soup, etc, etc, etc... I keep coming back because the food is spectacular and the service is spot on. I wish I knew the woman's name, but the one who takes your order (there's only 3 ladies who work there, btw), is a no fuss kind of lady. She can multitask like nobody's business and your order is correct every time. She wipes every container down from spills and bags up your to-gos nice and tight. I love coming here for the food, but it's always amazing to watch to her work while waiting for the food. She's tell you like it is and even guide you with your order if you're not sure. The portions are huge, the prices are right, and the quality is great. You can always try to phone your order in ahead of your arrival to speed up the wait! I am a complete regular and fan of Gail's!

I stumbled about this place by accident. I dropped off my car at the mechanic and was looking for a place to grab a bite and wait. None of the food places on the corner had any outdoor seating! Indoor seating is not available anywhere at this time. As I walked back to the mechanic, I saw a sign by a business park. Then I saw few tables outside! I was very happy that Gale's was open for breakfast with outdoor seating! The service was very quick. The place seems to be taking Covid precautions very seriously.

Great little lunch spot. Good food, fair prices, and exceptional service. Not a fancy place but rather very comfortable.

This is a real hidden gem! had the chicken curry today and it was absolutely amazing!

Imagine if your mom or aunt in their retirement years opened their doors in the form of a bed n breakfast, less for the sake of income and more in the form of a passion project; voilà, welcome to Gail's. It's quite literally a hole in the wall, seats about 15 and looks like the wait room of where you get your oil changed. Nevertheless, the kitchen is homemade magic. Everything from the patty melt to the daily specials have a genuine, homemade taste and feel that cannot be denied; this place is special. Great food, great prices, daily specials. 5 stars.

Our company had bought us lunch from here on 3/15/19. We had 3 Pastrami sandwiches, 1 Roast Beef, 1 Chicken Salad Sandwich. All sandwiches were tasty and very fresh!! The staff is friendly and the food is fantastic!! We'll be back.

This place has a great menu. I really like the Korean beef bowls. The sandwiches are huge and the ingredients are always fresh. And you can't beat their prices. Jurree who takes orders is always up beat and friendly. There's always a movie playing and there's even wi-fi. It's a nice place to relax on your lunch break.
