7 Foods to Eat in Martinique and Where to Try Them - AFAR
"Specializing in seafood, this Fort-de-France restaurant often grills octopus (chatrou) to tender perfection instead of the island’s more common tomato-based fricassee, serving it alongside a medley of local vegetables such as sweet potatoes for a very fresh, bright flavor. The menu rotates weekly, but some variation of grilled octopus is usually available and highly recommended." - Rosalind Cummings-Yeates
Wow what a find! We visited for lunch and had an exceptional meal. Compliments to the chef, the food was very refined. I also think it was great value, only a pity there weren't more menu options.

The service was warm and personal, the cocktails were refreshing (I had non alcoholic detox), the food was absolutely delicious. The story of each dish is explained when it’s served so you better understand the flavour profiles and the fusions (the menu of the month was Africa-Caribbean fusion inspired). I’ve been to Galanga several times and it’s always a pleasure.

We dropped in without a reservation on the night before Valentine's day. We were immediately greeted by the staff and invited to sit while they would figure out if they could accommodate us. They could and informed us that it was a special night with a set tasting menu that was accompanied by champagne. Lucky us! Everything here was excellent: the food was innovative and delicious, the service was personal, warm and highly professional and the atmosphere was serene and welcoming. Highly recommend.

This restaurant is so unpretentious and below the radar that it belies the exceptional quality of the dishes. It is located in a residential street and you enter it behind a school. There is an anticipation as to what to expect but you probably know you are in for a surprise by the five star ratings on trip advisor
We were fortunate to be staying at a boutique hotel 5 mins walking distance and chose to eat here four times over two weeks as we saw no reason to look elsewhere and not merely because of its convenience.
The first discovery is the passion and joy the staff display and their desire to ensure you have the best experience.
It is open lunch time Monday to Friday and evenings Thursday and Friday. On Friday they have a special gastronomic menu.
What is interesting is the fact that the menu changes daily and is season and supply dependent which means you get the freshest of products.Thye also have their on herb garden
All the dishes in one way or another had a unique twist and there was nothing generic about them as they showed innovation creativity and balanced combination of flavours - the attached images speak for themselves

I had a great experience and meal at Galanga Fish Bar. They were very accommodating as I speak only a bit of French. They explained each dish as it came out. I was made to feel welcome and I appreciated that, especially as a solo traveler. The food had great flavors and was fresh. I loved everything I ordered!
