The 38 Best Istanbul Restaurants | Eater

"Simit, a sesame-coated ring of dough, is the most common all-day street food in Istanbul, and buying one directly from a simit bakery guarantees it will be crispy and fresh. Although it can be found in every corner of the city, few are as delicious as the version at Galata Simitçisi. In addition to a simit, try a çatal, a semi-savory cookie that crumbles in the mouth (çatal means fork, which it resembles in shape). Both are great with Turkish tea." - Tuba Şatana

We were there at 8 am, not crowded, everything fresh and the baking aroma like a soul therapy. Our order was 2 simit sandwiches, 2 small tea. The bill was 270 TL. This is very old simit firn and very famous. The location is perfect with a cozy setting area. Highly recommend.

Came here after hearing about it from social media and had a good experience. Read some reviews about simit being cold but perhaps we came on a good day because we enjoyed warm, tasty simit with delicious tea.

Quiet morning with hot Cai and Simit. This is the first time we trying Simit, so not sure about the texture, but it is definitely not soft and hot. Limited seats available.

I visited this place after hearing many recommendations, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the hype. For a bakery or simit shop, freshness is key—hot, crispy simit and the inviting aroma of freshly baked goods are what you expect. However, none of the simit we tried was warm or fresh, and the lack of that signature smell was disappointing. We ordered a simit sandwich with cheese and tomato, but it seemed like it had been prepared hours earlier. The simit had lost its crispness, and the tomatoes were dry. We also tried the tahini simit, but sadly, it didn’t meet expectations in taste or freshness. Lastly, the service could use improvement. One of the staff members was quite rude, which left a sour note on our visit. I hope the management takes these points into consideration because the place has potential but falls short in delivering the quality and experience one would expect.

Amazing simit in a great location. Tea was delicious also. Service was super fast, even if Kenan the owner doesn't smile while he's taking your order.

Yummy fresh simit with tomatoes and cheese and tea on a side. Perfect breakfast on a quiet Saturday morning. Highly recommended. PS. Chased it with a buttery delicious bun. Yum.

I had previously tried simits in Istanbul and was disappointed—they were often not fresh and too hard. But Galata Simitcisi changed my mind completely. This spot is a must-visit for an authentic simit experience. Their simits are baked in a traditional brick oven and served fresh and hot. The outer crust is perfectly crunchy, coated with a generous layer of sesame seeds, while the inside remains soft and fluffy. It’s the perfect combination, especially when paired with a cup of Turkish chai. If you want to experience the best simit in Istanbul, this is the place. Highly recommended!
