Second visit to Galaxy. The first was sometime back at the Brodie location. Today we went to the West Lynne slot in what used to be called Clarksville.
The venue itself is pretty utilitarian. Nothing outstanding -- just functional. They do have a nice sized patio dining area that's shaded from noon on.
Galaxy is counter service. The menu is fairly varied and interesting. Heavy on burgers, wraps and sandwiches. The service is commendable. My companion ordered a glass of Pinot noir. The counter dude immediately admitted to the fact that the bottle had been open for a while. My partner tried a glass, and, when she made a face, he instantly opened a fresh bottle and poured her a replacement. That's service.
We shared a Zocalo Buddha Bowl. It's a southwestern twist on their Buddha bowl, which is itself a twist on the Poke bowl. The portion was more than plenty for two. I could have taken a decent box home. Overall, it was top notch. The aichote grilled chicken, while a little skimpy, was warm and smoky. There are plenty of black beans, lots of cheese, decent amount of brown rice, and an excellent tomatillo and avocado dressing, made in house. It was well-balanced, with no flavor overpowering.
The waitstaff was prompt and responsive and courteous. I'll be back.
