16 Best Places to Dine and Drink Around Clarendon and Courthouse | Eater DC

"The longtime Clarendon bar with great vibes and quirky decor is one of the last of its kind — gone are the days of the surrounding IOTA Club & Cafe and Jay’s Saloon — and it remains an institution, particularly for vegans and vegetarians. Stop in for one of the rotating beers on draft, and stay for a heaping plate of “Totchos,” or tater tots smothered in largely meatless toppings of choice." - Missy Frederick

The Most Lovable Dive Bars Around D.C. | Eater DC

"This longtime Clarendon bar might be the friendliest dive for vegans and vegetarians. Just a short walk from the Clarendon metro stop is an incredibly unique bar with the most personable bar tender. I absolutely adore the nostalgic VHS collection and they always have a classic video playing- it gives us non-drinkers/designated drivers some way to feel included in the ambiance 🤍 The art decor, simplicity and mood lighting puts you at ease and is a great place to vibe. It's cozy and not too overwhelming. This is also a great spot for vegetarians as most of the menu is vegetarian friendly! Highly recommend!

I came here on a random weeknight looking for decent food at a reasonable price. I was wrong on one end. Galaxy Hut was delicious yet reasonably priced. The atmosphere inside was dark yet intimately cozy. It felt a bit like your neighborhood bar/pub, as if you're suddenly transported to a small town in the Northeast. The staff were both friendly and informative on the selections. While they do take the 21+ restriction seriously, for those above that age, one can feel a bit like a kid again without the pressure of the outside world. After perusing the menu for a bit, I ended up with a Swedish Canadian sandwich and a side of Eggplant fries. The Swedish Canadian was surprisingly filling, yet felt light. I appreciated the meat-like texture of the meatballs, and the flavor was not overpowering. The vegan cheese had a fullness to it that reminded me a lot of fondue cheeses, but without the heaviness. Top that with the gravy, and it was both filling and comforting. As for the fries, they were delightfully soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. It was a surprising amount, given the price point. I actually expected a bit less. All in all, without drinks you can expect to pay around $20 per person for a solid meal. Although, their drink menu was quite extensive on both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic sections. If you're in the area, or you can't stand the blandness of DC, or need a solid quick bite at a reasonable price, please come check Galaxy Hut out. It's worth it.

Google
I’ve gone here a couple of times. The best dive bar in the area with an extensive beer list and non alcoholic list. If it’s really crowded, there won’t be a good place to sit and then the line to get drinks can take a while. The atmosphere is super chill with lots of fun artwork (that’s for sale) on the walls. As many others mentioned, the tots are where it’s at!

Google
Okay if I’m being honest I wish they served more than just beer….BUT regardless the vibe is perfect and the beer selection they do have is great. Also the all vegan menu is appreciated if you have dietary restrictions. One of my favorite bars in Arlington.

Daniel Sude

Google
Ordered at the bar, food was served within 15 to 20 min (estimated) despite large crowd. The Swedish Canadian had a complex and balanced flavor profile with savory notes, earthy richness, caraway which has one of those very distinctive flavors, as well as sourness and creaminess. Overall, from my perspective, just a great job. My husband got the Buffalo chik'n and, despite being an omnivore, enjoyed the flavor. The vibe was very nice as well, with eclectic art and dim light. It felt very ... personal? The price was $13 for a thoughtfully constructed sandwich. I have had much less flavor for more money.

Google
Second time here, the same guys running the place as the first time we came. Joe and Nate are awesome, took some food orders close to the kitchen closing for us even though we were pushing it a bit. Food is fantastic, great beer list as well. Cannot recommend more as a great little spot in Arlington for food and drinks!

Jack Cauthen

Google
The food is amazing, the beers are great and the movies classic.

Google
Terrific vegan bar food. Tots, Brussels, Cuban, Fricken sandwich, and eggplant fries were delicious. Great beer selection. Cool art. Good counter service and bussers were on top of it. I wish I lived closer. I will definitely return. We got there around 6pm and there was no wait and we had a choice of tables for six.

Yelp
me and my girls love Galaxy Hut such a vibey local bar with really great vegan options! i love the chicken sandwich and the eggplant fries and the tots servings are huge

Yelp
Tried the grilled cheese and gator tots tonight. The cheese sandwich was a vegan cashew cheese blend and mozzarella blend on sourdough bread. The sandwich was very good for a cheese sandwich. The Galaxy had a broad range of beers on tap providing a lot of options for a small place. The decor was unusually different, which is why I was drawn here. While eccentric to say the least, it was different and refreshing at the same time. I recommend giving it a try. The food and beer options were quite satisfying.

Kurt H.

Yelp
Love this place and the er tots are incredible! I've been coming here for a few years now the food and beer selection have only gotten better!

Yelp
As someone who is neither vegetarian nor vegan, I thoroughly enjoyed the food here! We arrive around 7pm on a Friday and it was already full inside so we decided to just do takeout. The inside is relatively small so just be weary if you plan to dine in. In terms of food, the Brussels sprouts and KFC Things were our favorites. Perfectly crispy and seasoned! The sauce for the KFC Things is AMAZING Fricken Sandwich and SmokeHut Burger: the meatiest non-meat sandwiches I've ever eaten! Everything on the sandwiches were great, but we all thought the bread was a little too bready and dense. Otherwise great options. Totooine: Their version of vegan poutine. Tater tots are top tier. Super crunchy and delicious! The gravy has a sort of thyme/rosemary profile to it, like thanksgiving flavor. Very unique flavor

Yelp
Counter-service vegan food inside of a dive-bar with an extensive drink menu as well Also have a small area with seating outside in the back If you don't like vegan food you can also order anything on the menu with real dairy (AKA cheese) instead of vegan-dairy I got a cheeseburger (technically a BYO grilled cheese with a cheeseburger in it), and it was very tasty.

Yelp
After moving back to the DMV after 8+ years in NYC, I've sorely been missing a good dive bar. Galaxy Hut and its sister location, Space Bar, are the closest to scratching that itch for me. The vibes are a bit hard to explain, in a good way. There's always a movie from the 90s playing on a small CRT TV in the corner. Local art lines the walls. An '80s era table pinball machine and arcade emulator serve as both functioning games and tables. There's a good selection of beers, too. But by far the best part of Galaxy Hut is the food. It's vegetarian/vegan that doesn't sacrifice any flavor. Lots of meat-free options with opportunities to sub vegan cheese for dairy. The Red Sauce Joint is an EXCELLENT veggie meatball sub. It's unusual to find good bar food that's also vegetarian. If I had to nitpick, I'd say they could stand to crank the AC more on hotter days. I always get carded the second I walk in here - which is likely because I'm very short. I used to bartend so I understand, I carded anyone and everyone, but it feels a bit aggressive each time and is definitely more pointed at me than anyone else I have ever come here with. I'm a woman in my 30s. Something must have happened to make them suss of anyone shorter who sets foot in the bar. That's really it, though - this place makes me feel like I'm back in the East Village, in a good way.

Yelp
A cool place between Clarendon and Court House that has great beers. Service is entirely through ordering at the bar, which is totally fine. There are nice places to talk with friends about things both inside and outside, and the service in general is really good. A cool place to go for a drink.
google avatar

Yelp
I struggle to explain why this is my favorite spot in Clarendon, but it is. Ill try. Anytime I walk in, a VHS movie is playing with closed captioning on, music is playing, and the sweet rich smell of fried veggies and cheese mixed with sour beers tickle my brain. They used to have concerts here, and hopefully will again someday. The little side outside area is great to overhear gossip about people you don't know while maintaining a safe distance to not seem like you are weirdly listening in. Even in the rain you can hide outside for a bit to get some fresh air or hide from your own thoughts. I would sit inside and write my novel if it wasn't so cliché. The bartenders / cook staff are insane in a good way, always with wild eyes and eager to serve up tasty things without judgement. Even if you order the loaded tots and fried cauliflower for a table for 1. They have games I want to play but never do. The thought is nice though. That is what this place does. It helps me have better thoughts and realigns my desires to simpler things. Id gladly pay for that therapy any day.

Yelp
The vibe is so cool and the fact that everything on the menu is vegetarian/vegan is amazing! Walking in, it really feels like you went back a time. Sit at any open table and look through the menu, once you know what to order head to the bar. Once your food is ready it will be brought to your table. I went with the jalapeño bomb impossible burger. For the table we split onion rings and buffalo cauliflower. Everything I tried was amazing! Jalapeño burger was bomb (no pun intended) and the onion rings were cooked well and buffalo cauliflower was definitely a hit. There were so many other food options to try that I hope to come again soon!

Yelp
Man, i wanna be like 'go here' cuz i love it and i want them to thrive but i also wanna be like 'don't go here' cuz i don't want too many people crowding up my spot. Love this place. Cashew queso is delish and honestly i'll eat anything you out it on.

Yelp
I'm not a vegan, but wanted to try something new. Very small bar area, but it wasn't busy since it was Monday night. Ordered the vegan reuben and enjoyed it more than I expected it to. Tried the Vanish Ways beer which didn't match my taste. I am going to go back and try it again.

John Q.

Yelp
I went there the other day and got excellent service from Joe. He's the best bartender in the D.C. area. Will go back but only if Joe is bartending. Hope he's still there.

Paul M.

Yelp
One of the last remaining vestiges of Old Arlington (from a dive bar standpoint). The place is legend but still as good as ever. Dozens of beers to choose from and an expansive food menu (personally, I can never resist the loaded tater tots)! There's a quarky small outdoor seating area (that markedly improved over the years with actual tables), and a couple of old school table video games. The vibe is laid back and fun (especially if you don't take yourself too seriously).
google avatar

Vicki K.

Yelp
Best dive bar in Arlington. The draft beer menu is expansive. The food I dream about for weeks after eating it. All their food can be made vegan and the substitutes are amazingly delicious and aren't expensive to substitute. The move is to get the tater tots and turkey melt and substitute turkey for vegan grilled "chicken". You can play 2 player Pacman at some tables and there's also a small patio to sit outside.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
The Galaxy Hut is phenomenal vegan chow. Great selection, good beer, reasonably priced, fast service.
google avatar

Meg P.

Yelp
A classic dive bar in Arlington. I went here 20 years ago & it looks exactly the same - very cool. Apparently the food (serious vegan menu) is really good but I just came to have a few beers with friends. I'll definitely be back
google avatar

Yelp
I was so excited for this mostly vegan place but it was such a huge disappointment. I got the totooine- tater tots with a poutine like gravy and cashew cheese. I was really excited for this dish but it was truly awful. The gravy had a weird medicinal taste to it. So I called back and they said they could refund my money or make something else. I should have taken the refund but I had hope that there would be something better so I asked if they could make the Galaxy nut sandwich. It's a veggie burger made of beans and some other stuff. There is a vegan (cashew) cheese on top. The burger itself was the consistency of refried beans like a paste plopped on the buns that I couldn't touch it- it was so disgusting, and the cashew cheese tasted old and again awful. The best thing on the sandwich was the onion rings. So I ate that and threw the rest in the trash. Two dishes in the trash and $10 later, didn't get more than a couple of bites, still hungry, but now I feel a little sick. I should have gone for the refund. Will not be back here again. If you want good vegan food, go to Troy's Italian in Arlington!

Yelp
One of my fav Vegan spots in Arlington We always get the Buffalo Cauliflower The fried Zucchini fries are good too!
google avatar

Oenihss D.

Yelp
Vegan options, Star Wat like theme atmosphere and not just limited to the sort of the name nor the menu. Be ready for the food options, all of them are vegan or at least vegetarian. Come with an appetite and be ready for greasy junk vegan food. The beer offering is good and the staff were great during my visit.
google avatar

Merve A.

Yelp
Love this spot for their totchos. We got the tater tots with cheese, fried japalenos and caramelized onions. They also have impossible burger options if you're vegan/vegetarian.
google avatar

Terinee B.

Yelp
The Buffalo Things (fried cauliflower) with vegan wing sauce and vegan ranch as well as the Eggplant fries were both amazing! I'd make the trek from DC here just for the Buffalo Things! The Brussel Sprouts (fried w/balsamic drizzle) and the Fake 'n' Cheese (vegan chicken Philly cheesesteak sandwich) were just ok. Great spot overall with friendly staff. Seating is a bit tighter than I'd prefer considering we're still in the midst of a pandemic, but great spot, nonetheless.
google avatar

Sara D.

Yelp
Y'all this meatless sub was so dank. I've been craving to eat a meatball sub for a few years now, but I try not to eat red meat since I used to be a vegetarian and want to limit my meat intake overall. When I saw the meatless version and ate it, my life truly changed for the better. It was so tasty. Beer was good and vibes are awesome, but that sub really did something for me. Overall, I loved all the vegan options too! I will be back to eat the sub and try some other snacks too
google avatar

Maggie R.

Yelp
I came here on May 4th in celebration of Star Wars day. I ordered the Totooine. I don't consider myself a connoisseur of vegan food, but this was delicious! The only thing I would change is the portion size. I was given enough food for two or three people, so I couldn't finish it. I probably should have understood that that dish is meant to be shared and enjoyed as an appetizer. Next time, if I'm on my own again, I might try one of the grilled cheese sandwiches. They looked good! You can also order beer to take out, which is fantastic! I enjoyed the brown ale I tried. The location of the restaurant is good. I was able to easily park right in front to pick up my food. There was a table set up in the doorway for people to pick up their orders. I hope they get to bring customers back into the restaurant soon!
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
This place is super chill... almost too chill? It appeared to be a completely vegan menu which isn't my cup of tea, but the tots were good (can you mess up tots?). You go up to the bar to order. Probably wouldn't go again.
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
AMAZING!! Decided to get takeaway one day with my mom and this place sounded delicious and it was. She got the fricken sandwich which was pretty good but I ordered the brussels and bacon and OMG it was soo stinkin good. If you like tempeh its seriously to die for. I ordered online for pick up and it was simple and the food was made on time. I believe currently they are only offering takeaway but I would call and double check. Amazing food a must try if you are visiting or looking to try something new.

Zachary G.

Yelp
Best prices in town, especially for vegan food, awesome quantities, staff super friendly. Great vegan reuban. Fried food always tastes like oil is a little old though
google avatar

Yelp
Looking for a casual spot for a chill night? Galaxy hut is unlike any other spot in the Clarendon area. While it's not huge, it's got a great vibe. Old game consoles made into tables, lots of art and a small bar make the place one-of-a-kind. Pretty dark in here - you'll see in the photos! When I arrived on Thursday at 7, it was pretty packed but we were able to grab a table. You order from the bar. They have quite a few beer and cider options, and I even noticed a few wine selections. I had the Blake's flannel cider. The food- so everything on the menu can be made vegan. Such a cool spot with food that appeals to everyone. For dinner, I split a plate of the totchos with vegan cheese and the meatloaf grilled cheese, sub vegan burger. It was all spectacular! The vegan cheese melted on the tots but wasn't soggy and the tots were crispy. It was good portion too! My sandwich was crispy and all around so flavorful. My friend has the vegan chicken philly cheese steak - I tried a piece of the vegan chicken. The texture and the taste was awesome. Check this place out for a drink and some bar food!
google avatar

Amora C.

Yelp
Very good Brussel sprouts & buffalo cauliflower wings. I can't wait to try more of the menu
google avatar

Stacy H.

Yelp
In an area where dive bars are disappearing faster than off street parking in Arlington, we still have Galaxy Hut! Small but mighty Galaxy Hut has a large variety of craft beers and excellent munches. Any place that has Tator Tots, old school table video games and pinball is Ok in my book. They have live bands and comedy nights. I love the old posters and bar decor. Love the Hut!
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
Drool-worthy bar food so good that we went back a second time before our trip was over! Over two nights we had: a Fricken Parm sandwich, the Totooine (with that name, how could we not?), KFC tofu things, the Reuben, and a Jalapeño burger. To say nothing of the beer we consumed. Worth the heartburn I gave myself (I'm fine, I know you were worried) and would 100 percent do it again.

Alex M.

Yelp
Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. My friend has gone there regularly for a few years. So following their recommendation, we went out for a late dinner. The brussel sprouts were cold and had about 5 or 6 actual sprouts. The rest of the large bowl was filled with burnt, spare leaves covered in balsamic vinaigrette to mask how burnt it was. It was obviously the very bottom of a large batch. This was after an extremely unprofessional encounter with a bartender named Ali as well. There was no incentive to come back beyond a half-assed apology from him where he kept trying to justify his actions and make excuses. The MOD had to apologize on his behalf. The staff needs training, there needs to be soap in the bathrooms, and the food was subpar. I hope that the restaurant does better in the future so that no one else experiences the night I had.
google avatar

Mekdela T.

Yelp
The vegan food is AMAZINGGGGGG. I mean I almost asked for a jar of the vegan ranch to take home, it was so good! Definitely get the eggplant fries, it was a huge portion, crispy, and just freaking good! The eggplant fries are a must! My friend and I also ordered the vegan grilled cheese and the chicken cheesesteak. Honestly....again...so good! The bell peppers on the chicken cheesesteak were perfect. I actually questioned myself quite a bit if everything I was eating actually vegan. Lol The place is divy, keep in mind, very dim. The place is chill, not too loud! Parking can be a little bad, it's all street parking!

Jack R.

Yelp
What's the worst breakup you've ever had? Well Galaxy Hut taking fried tofu off the menu feels worse than that. Pouring one out for my favorite thing to get from a restaurant in the DMV :(
google avatar

Summer H.

Yelp
Obsessed with this place. Insanely good vegan comfort food. If I could eat here every week I would.
google avatar

Vicky L.

Yelp
Galaxy Hut is a fantastic venue for a chill night of hanging out with friends - definitely less chaotic than some of the other bars in Clarendon (Don Tito's, Clarendon Ballroom, Spider Kelly's etc) but I think that's a plus in their favor. The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly and if they don't know something, they'll let you try a sample or two to help you decide. They do lean more towards beers rather than cocktails or wine but that's not something I mind at all. I really liked that they offer beers in different sizes so there's something for everyone and you can try multiple beers without breaking the bank. Food is bomb. Get the tots! The overall vibe is cozy and relaxed, and the perfect neighborhood hangout spot to unwind after a long week. Have I said enough to convince you to go there?

Arnaud B.

Yelp
Solid low key dive bar for the non bro crowds. I hope non bros still exist in the Clarendon nightlife. Good beer. Nice bartenders. Good food. Interesting decor.
google avatar

Maggie S.

Yelp
Galaxy Hut easily had some of the best vegan food I've ever had, and that's coming from someone who used to live in Southern California. I got the Reuben and Buffalo cauliflower, and wow, they were so good. It is a little pricey, but worth it for the indulgence. Highly recommend for vegans, vegetarians, and literally anyone who breathes.
google avatar

AJ M.

Yelp
Great vibes! Small, intimate bar and restaurant with a great beer selection and a small wine selection. They're always playing VHS on the TV and have some old games to play.
google avatar

Mimi D.

Yelp
Wow really no words to describe how good my first experience was... I know sometimes people hesitate with vegan substitutions but this place knocks it out the ball park in terms of flavor and quality (and quantity - so worth every penny)!! Got the Totooine (Star Wars reference?!) and will definitely be coming back to try all the creative stuff on the menu...
google avatar

Yelp
Galaxy Hut is a place that I've always wondered about. Whenever I walk home from work going down Wilson Boulevard, I always pass it. And it's always packed with people are seemingly getting their drink on. Finally got a chance to pay a visit on a Saturday night. My friends and I figured we would grab a little food and beverages before heading to a Christmas party. We were pumped to hear there was a sort of happy hour going from 5pm-7pm with a $10 and $13 pitcher of pilsner. That drew us in pretty quickly. Let me just say, if you ARE IN A HURRY, you might want to wait to come to Galaxy Hut when you can relax and enjoy the scene. It's not a huge place, but it can get pretty crowded. Everyone orders everything at the bar as well, so there are no servers to come around and take orders. This makes the process a little slower, but more homey, too. After ordering, you get the beer immediately but the food takes a little bit to prepare. The menu is pretty varied. There's vegan options, beef options, sandwiches and things you wouldn't normally see on menus (pork rangoons). All the food was pretty good and the entire group enjoyed themselves. Not much more you can ask for!

Alexander W.

Yelp
great for vegan/vegetarian options and plenty on tap. i haven't been to a place like this since i left portland. love it.
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
I love the vibe of this place with the arcade theme and the random VHS playing in the background. They've got a good selection of beers on tap--definitely not the typical ones that you'd see at every other bar down Clarendon and Wilson. I haven't tried much food yet, but their totchos with vegan cashew queso are to die for

Rachel M.

Yelp
Frickin chicken sandwich is bangin. The tots were hot and crispy. The beer selection is fantastic. Very cool spot.
google avatar

Saachi G.

Yelp
Galaxy Hut is a super chill, casual spot to grab drinks and comfort food with friends. It's got a dive bar feel to it and is dimly lit inside. Great selection of brews on tap in addition to rotating specials. One neat thing is that there are several options for sizes of beers, ranging from mini to pints and goblets. If you walk over to the bar area, you'll notice that behind each tap is an old VHS that is labeled with the name of the beer. Some of the tables are actually old arcade machines, which is unique. The star item of this place is its variety of grilled cheeses. So many different options, which one to choose?!? I'm a huge sucker for grilled cheese so I was drooling as soon as I saw the menu. I opted for the regular with Brie and mozzarella while my friends ordered the turkey avocado and BBQ grilled cheeses (all of which were fabulous). When you get your grilled cheese, you'll see the delectable cheese oooozing out all hot and warm. Eat it while it's hot! Tastes sooo good. I got a side of Mac n cheese but it wasn't very cheesy or flavorful, would not recommend ordering it. If you want food or drink, you've gotta get up and order it from the bar. Food will be dropped off at your table when it's ready. Water is self serve. They've repurposed the alley way to add more tables for 2, and at the end is an actual metal hut that can seat one group. The hut is filled with graffiti, basically beckoning you to leave your mark. We entertained ourselves by reading all the funny phrases surrounding us. Overall a solid place for late night food and drinks.

Yelp
Hole in the wall dive bar of Clarendon being a short walk from either Clarendon or Courthouse metro and loads of street parking. This place is ideal for a small happy hour or you can just come for the good beer, totchos (loaded tots), and grilled cheese sandwiches. Reminds me a small dive bar There aren't many deals on wine, but their beer is great. They have a vast menu and had humongous pitchers of beer for only about $20. And when you order a pitcher, you get half off Tots! Their menu is almost ideal for vegetarians with at least 70% of the menu with a vegetarian substitute. The Granny Smith, yummy weird combination of cheese and apples, but I liked the tangy-ness from the apple. The Buffalo things were fire! They were yummy especially if you like spicy, but beware, you might not want to share. ;) I'll definitely be back to take advantage of the happy hour pitchers to quench my thirst and try their assortment of grilled cheeses!

Yelp
Since moving to this side of Arlington, I've been passing Galaxy Hut for years now and have never actually ventured in. Finally on a cold Saturday evening, I got someone to come with me and venture into the "hispter" bar that is Galaxy Hut. First impressions is this is definitely a dive bar that's a bit small. Not a spot you stop at with a big party but definitely a good spot for a few drinks and an app. We decided to sit at the bar to get the speediest service, as normally if you are sitting at a table you have to stand in line at the bar to get yourself a beer. I can only imagine how packed this place is when a band plays because the area is already fairly small. Water is self serve which is nice, and they have old school VHS playing- we got to watch some of the Mask. I was worried coming in they would only have IPA beers but they had a wide variety of everything, from canned beers, coffee like beers, ciders, and even wine. I really like the concept of different beer sizes, from mini even up to pitcher for some beer varieties. We had about 3 beers each and we barely spent any money, something hard to do in the Arlington area. I also decided on getting the Totchos with bacon and jalapenos and it was one of the best things I've tasted in a while. Other food choices looked good but it's purely a sandwich or app place so not sure if I would come here for legit dinner.

Yelp
I really like this place! Cute little dive bar with, yes, a "hipster" feel. But who doesn't like hip, chill places with arcade games, a private alleyway with outdoor seating, unique beers on tap, and GGBF (ok. just made that up: GREASY GOOD BAR FOOD)?! Cool spot to consider if you are catching up with a friend. The atmosphere is really cute and there's lights strung up. The music was great the night I went; mix of indie rock and electronic. It's a very laid-back place; when I looked around me, many others were with just one other person as well. It is evident that Galaxy Hut a good place to converse (and not have to scream to hear each other). Especially when the weather is nice! We sat outside for a good hour or so just talking, drinking, and munching on their bar bites. I'm bummed because we came a little before 12am, so they couldn't make us the fattening chili cheese dog I was so desperately craving. But they did fry up some eggplant fries and tots for us. Eggplant fries could use more flavor, and tots were good with ketchup. The "regular" sizes are huge! I ordered a unique cider they had on the menu, and would love to come back to try other drinks. Galaxy Hut is truly a gem considering the rest of Clarendon is really annoying and full of frat gals/guys who still act like they're in undergrad. ENJOY!

Yelp
Hipster oasis or hipster mirage? I'm not totally certain. Considering the hipster population has declined in the DC area, I think I'd describe this as a dive bar with a strong concentration of hipsterdom for Arlington. The place is dimly lit with string lights and covered in funky artwork and retro video game machines. Good selection of beers on tap. Good happy hour from 5-7 if you want a cheap pitcher. *Great* bar food, especially the vegan selections. A vegan friend and I recently had the tater tots with vegan chili and a vegan chicken bacon cheese sandwich, both of which were delicious; the sandwich in particular had great texture and flavor, and I'd order it again, even though I don't keep a vegan diet. I'm less thrilled that the music is generally a bit too loud and I always somehow sit at the table where the video game machine is broken, which is nice for ambience but would be more fun if it worked. Also the main room is sort of cramped and you might need sharp eyes to find an open spot during busy times. Oh, and remember to order drinks and food at the bar under the big sign. Then sit back and enjoy.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere and yummy food! The tempeh Reuben and the tots were so good. Happy hour specials on some beers from 5-7 daily.

Yelp
I really wanted to love Galaxy Hut. I happened to be in the neighborhood and had saved this place as a favorite to check out. But....I am not sure this brussels sprouts dish is supposed to be burnt and black. See the photo. Is it supposed to be like this? Anyone knows? I am willing to give it a benefit of the doubt before rushing to judgement. Other than that, the pick up service was great and friendly. The chi'kn sandwich was good. I may go back and give this brussels sprouts dish another try because I love brussels sprouts and I want to support vegan businesses.
