Google
THE most underrated spot on the peninsula! I have dined here twice and had amazing experiences both times. The sweet potato curry was absolutely perfect, we loved the meatballs, and the pasta topped with pistachios was to die for. All the cocktails are top notch, too!

Google
Everything was fresh, well made and delicious. Cannot recommend the cauliflower curry enough. Pizza was like nothing we've had before - in a good way. Cocktail menu was extremely well curated and contained a lot of flavor combinations I've never seen elsewhere. A joy to visit on vacation, and we'll definitely return next time we're in town. Bonus is the two hours free parking in the parking garage - yay for not paying for parking when going out in Charleston!

Google
Gale is a great little restaurant in Charleston! The vibe doesn’t necessarily match the quality of food, but it was still a great experience! The food was amazing, the restaurant was just a bit smaller and less fancy than we were expecting. It’s great for if you’re looking for a small local place for dinner with friends, though! Great food and great staff! Overall, I would definitely recommend!

Google
Amazing food and experience. Amber was our hostess and she was amazing! We ended up the curry and Margherita pizza. One of the most delicious meals of my life. Curry was 10/10 and Margherita pizza was 15 out of 10 !!! We liked this was so much we came back 3 times. The 3rd time everyone took shot with us as a final goodbye !!!

Google
Such a fun spot to pop in! The milk punches they have are so tasty and refreshing, definitely need to try one. Cauliflower curry is a must. The pizza was crispy and delicious. Also got the cannolis…. Didn’t get a chance to snap a pic before we scarfed them down.

Google
We had one of everything - literally. We were looking for a good dinner that wasn’t too heavy but still satisfying. Gale is a winner - focused menu with unique starters (especially the fried Brussels sprouts), interesting craft drinks, and outstanding pizza. Intimate atmosphere and a small team of staff that really cares. Great for sharing a variety of options. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Google
I considered posting photos of empty plates...what good does that do if you cannot appreciate the artwork and love that goes into every dish and cocktail. I was here celebrating our wedding anniversary, best decision ever. The staff is phenomenal, talk about great recommendations and attentive at the right time. No hovering, service is on point and the food is so good, there won't be leftovers. Let's talk portions, there is plenty in all categories. If I was the owner, I'd reduce the portion by about 10% and retain the prices. It's easy to leave here happy and full. We had multiple dishes, Brussel sprouts, buratta, mushroom pizza and a delicious fruit dessert. Cocktails are creative and make you want more. This is a place I could easily visit weekly and never get bored. Oh, FREE parking behind the place!!! Go, only if you love cool people, inviting atmosphere and most importantly, fantastic food!

Google
This is a really cute restaurant with a fully stocked bar and the most delicious pizza & pasta. We heard about the restaurant from a server at another, and we are so happy we checked It out!! I got the salami pizza and vodka sauce is SUCH a good idea. Genius. My husband got the Thai noodles and was ecstatic with every bite. These people know how to make pizza and pasta! While the menu is limited, I’m sure you can find something you like! Definitely check It out before coming if you are a picky eater. I’m very pleased, and if we are ever back in town, we will be back!

Yelp
This family owned business will leave you wanting more as their food, service and hospitality will have you returning again and again. The dishes are reminiscent of my Italian Grandmother's delights-- I ordered the Alla Vodka and it LOADED with prosciutto, and garnished with pepper greens, an unusual addition but it worked very well with this dish. The Caesar Salad was shared with my hubby and we were both thoroughly satisfied with the fresh romaine, focaccia croutons and fresh Parmesan cheese! There will be a little "bite" to the dressing but that's what makes this Caesar Salad so tasty and it is a perfect starter before you move on to your main entree! We will return to try Gale's Pizza~ it looks like they offer five combinations ~ all made in their "wood fired" oven~ and all terrific combinations so I anticipate it will be a tough choice for me but I will pledge to cross that "which pizza shall we try bridge" when we visit again. I will also need to try the Meatballs, the Brussels Sprouts and the Cauliflower Curry. I love trying "sides" ~ especially when they are just a little bit different - and these all look innovatively different and delicious! A pleasurable ending to our superb meal at Gale Restaurant was the "Better than Abs" Cake and Chef had just gotten done whipping up the "espresso creme" so it was wildly fresh... the chocolate ganache, sea salt caramel (yum) and toffee bits had me in "chocolate heaven" and I would highly recommend completing your meal with one of Gale's delicious desserts...Sorry Grandma ~ I didn't have the Pistachio Marscapone filled Cannoli ( like you used to make) but there's always next time and I'm looking forward to my return visit already! Gale Restaurant is located on the ground level of "The Meeting Street Lofts"...the restaurant has an industrial type feel to it and the owners did a nice job with the space including multi-colored lit large bar area and plenty of tables in the open dining room. Make your reservation on the "Open Table" app. Park in the indoor garage on Huger Street.

Yelp
The food here is really good! I had a Rhett salad and meatballs, girlfriend had the alla vodka with shrimp. All food was excellent and filled with fresh ingredients. The pasta was the real knockout with perfectly al dente pasta that was chewy and had a terrific mouthfeel and smooth, creamy sauce. The interior is tasteful, youthful, and modern. I was surprised that they were playing music and I honestly didn't mind it at all, I usually am not a fan of music at restaurants but this was at a good volume and we could hear each other fine. Service was decent, food came out at a decent speed but the drinks took longer than I expected. One disappointment was when I ordered something not on the drink menu and the server said he would check, then never came back to let us know. Another oddity was we had some food boxed and they didn't bring it to the table, we had to go up and ask for it. Overall, Gale is a swanky spot and the food is good. I deducted a star for the combination of spotty service and very high prices. Nothing about my salad justified it being $16, a plate of pasta with no meat and no side, not even a basket of bread, is not $23 in any universe I have been to, even in a place like NYC, unless the restaurant is much more upscale than Gale is. That said, it was not too out of touch with the Charleston food market. I just think Charleston in general is grossly overpriced on restaurants. J.Ja

Yelp
Wow, just wow. From the second that we walked in and were warmly greeted (on Mother's Day without a reservation) and treated so kindly the whole time. We took a spot at the bar and ordered drinks (nothing from the ordinary and all well thought out and amazing). The food: to die for. The meatballs weren't the typical red sauce but super tender in a creamy shallot sauce with arugula on top! And this curry pizza with fried brussels sprouts, cilantro, feta cheese, chili oil was one of the best unexpected combos that I didn't know I needed in my life. Counting down the seconds until I get to return for more!

Yelp
Spacious eatery located on Meeting St. I ordered the Alla Vodka and added shrimp and y'all... it is the best pasta I've ever had. We will 100% be back here and recommend it to all we know.

Yelp
This elevated eclectic family owned Italian restaurant deserves ALL of the 5 star reviews. The atmosphere is laid back and casual, and I LOVED the movie playing on the wall - who doesn't love dinner and a movie? The staff was nothing but super kind the entire meal and we loved every second of it. Gale herself came over a few times to chat and check in to see if we were enjoying everything - it made the meal that much more special. I will start out saying I recommend sharing all of the plates!!! They are all family style. We started with meatballs, summer squash curry, and peach toast. All of it was fantastic. The chef takes classic Italian dishes and adds an ingredient to bring it to the next level - the meatballs had a champagne cream and arugula, the peach toast had hot honey!! Next, we shared the arugula pesto pasta (soooo fresh and delicious, loved the hint of lemon) and alla vodka pasta (creamy and decadent). The Margherita pizza had a sweetness to the sauce and chili oil to counter that. They have a brick oven in the back so you know it's good!! We were deciding between olive oil cake and pistachio cannoli - the server brought us both!! Oh and drinks were all fabulous and beautiful and Jonathan came over to ensure we were enjoying his handcrafted cocktails - he is talented!! I had one of my new favorite meals in Charleston at Gale and cannot wait to return and see what new dishes are on the fall menu!!

Yelp
I've been wanting to visit Gale for quite some time now. I love Italian food and have always thought this was a traditional Italian restaurant being the menu is largely comprised of pizza and pasta dishes. If you love a classic red sauce Italian dish be warned, that's not what you will find here. The food is good, but unique. Everything has a bit of a spice to it. You definitely need to have an adventurous palate to be truly satisfied. The ambience is great and the service was as well. I can't say the same for the prices. $25 is A LOT for a pizza this size and quality. We got the Margherita which we did see had chili oil and honey so we knew it wouldn't be 100% "classic" I tend to prefer a thin crispy pizza but this was thick and fluffy. (I did like the crust, it had that nice char/fluff to it) overall it was a little too wet... I guess the chili oil or honey? Either way it was dripping quite a bit on my plate, doughy and the oil/honey overpowered the sauce. In fact I didn't taste tomato sauce much at all. The Romesco pasta was ok but also a little bit of a spice and was overpowered by the red pepper flavor. Once again, it wasn't the type of Italian I had come in craving. The brussels sprouts were probably my favorite and had a similar red pepper taste to the pasta. The chunks of feta really made this dish and the sprouts were cooked perfectly. Gale offers a large drink menu with lots of specialities in addition to all the classics. I would almost recommend coming here for drinks before dining elsewhere. We tried the "Passionista" and "Pineapple Under The Sea". The Passionista was a perfect balance of sweet and sour with a spicy aftertaste. The Pineapple Under The Sea had a strong liquor taste (did not taste like pineapple at all) but if you don't mind that it was pretty good. I'm glad I tried this place but probably won't return. I still gave it 4 stars because as I mentioned, if you like a unique menu and trying different things you will enjoy this. Everything was cooked well it just wasn't the traditional Italian that I enjoy.

Yelp
Great cocktails but even better service! My group of 4 arrived later in the evening on a Saturday for drinks at the bar. They have an extensive cocktail list and the GM, Katie, have us excellent suggestions and delicious drinks. The bar back was also very attentive, interactive, and funny. We shared one delicious dessert and can't wait to try dinner soon!

Yelp
This place is in a unique spot, but once we stepped inside we were in love! It is dark and cozy, plus they make it clear that they are inclusive. We loved this place because the drinks were thoughtfully curated (and yummy) and the food was amazing, with options for people who are vegetarian. They got one of our drink orders wrong and let us keep the drink and made us the correct one. For food (sorry no pictures) we got the curry cauliflower appetizer, mushroom pizza, and pesto pasta. The cauliflower was to die for!! This place is good for some cocktails with friends or for a date night. Will be coming back here again for sure.

Yelp
Wow. Just WOW. This just became our favorite pizza place by far - the layered flavors of the fresh ingredients are basically mind blowing. The crust was also fantastic, and I am a harsh crust critic. I ate every bite of it. Even the "kids" cheese pizza was incredibly flavorful and slices were stolen by the adults. We could not pick a favorite between the cheese, little Italy, and salami. Also LOVE that they have a very nice selection of nuanced and delicious mocktails. I've had to mostly cut out alcohol, so it was so nice to still be able to enjoy fun, beautiful, complex drinks with dinner! Parking was also plentiful and free, which was a nice perk. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back a lot.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and half priced bottles of wine on Wednesdays! The cocktails are great as well! Great quick service and friendly staff!

Yelp
The food is so freakin fresh and in season that everything they bring to the table gives you real #farmtotable flavor! Not to mention, the staff is super welcoming and the restaurant itself is both chic, colorful and cozy! I low key wanna go back tomorrow and try something else on the menu. I also had the Cauliflower Curry which was bananas!

Yelp
I have been coming to Gale since it first opened. Its location is a bit off the beaten path but that's probably why it draws me to it. Easy parking, no wait, and amazing food. The servers do their best to accommodate all requests and are happy to help with recommendations. The drink menu is diverse- I spent at least 20 minutes trying to decide what I wanted. The food is INCREDIBLE! I always go for a pasta and pizza. The mushroom pizza is divine..the sauce is unique and the mushrooms juicy and flavorful. We ordered the pesto pasta with meatballs and although I was skeptical at first, the pasta was my favorite! The restaurant has dark lighting but is inviting. There were a variety of people and ages present. Gale is a hidden gem in our city that should be a must on every local's list.

Yelp
I can't wait to come back! First off, if you enjoy going downtown but aren't in the mood for the hustle and bustle of king st, this location is great because it's still walking distance, but a bit away from the busy part of downtown; which also meant it was easy to score free parking in the parking garage next to the restaurant Secondly... I don't think I've ever seen such an extensive list of unique cocktails! To the point where it was difficult choosing which! So I'll just make it my goal to try every cocktail on the menu. I did start off with a spicy margarita which isn't on the menu, but they made it clear that they're happy to handcraft anything for you. It was delicious! For my second drink I hade the Gale 75 which I also enjoyed. Okay the food -- so unique! As my friend put it, it was Italian style but ELEVATED. So many delicious bold flavors melting into each other; I truly am excited to go back. We shared the meatball appetizer, perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside; the cauliflower curry which was also delicious; and my favorite of all: the peach prosciutto one. It came on little toasted bread slices, topped with ricotta, topped with a peach, topped with prosciutto, basil, and the best part: chili honey. Sooo good I think I dreamt about it. Then we shared the pesto pasta and vodka pasta and the margherita pizza with a twist: it had the chili honey drizzled on it! I think I dreamt about this too. Lastly (I know, how did we fit so much hahaha) we shared the pistachio cannoli and the olive oil cake. Succulent, decadent, delicious. Hiiiighly recommend the pistachio cannoli! The filling was legit all pistachio. They also played a movie in black and white in the background, the bartender came over to talk to us a couple times and even had us try one of his new drinks; our server was very attentive and friendly; and we get to meet Gale herself! The restaurant gave off such a family vibe and felt so welcoming that everything here truly checked it all off the list for me. Thank you so much for having us and for the wonderful experience!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my dinner at Gale! We were surprised to find the restaurant so quiet- possibly due to the end of memorial day weekend. The pasta was delicious and the cocktails are fun too!

Yelp
This new restaurant near the ramp to the bridge downtown is a wonderful addition to that area. Free parking too (bonus!) My friend and I ordered three amazing dishes and a cocktail. Each one was delicious, flavorful, fresh and unique. The menu is really small and separated into shares, pastas, pizzas and dessert. We started with a butter curry with sweet potatoes (maybe) and cucumbers and breadsticks served with a spicy and sweet delicious curry. Loved it! Then we had a local greens salad with grapefruit and pecans. It had the perfect combo of flavors and dressing. Finally we shared the whipped ricotta and lemon pasta. Yum! The meal was perfect from start to finish! Highly recommend this new spot!
google avatar

Ana S.

Yelp
Wow wow wee wow This place was great from start to finish! We were greeted by the bar manager Jonathan, who was kind and very attentive. The ambiance was the perfect combination of relaxed and upscale dining. My husband and I shared the Brussels sprouts, melted leek pasta, and the salami pizza which were all excellent! I really loved the drink options which were all thoughtfully created by Jonathan himself! Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back again.

Yelp
You will absolutely have a great time and great food. Gale is the owner and she's there making sure you are enjoying time in her restaurant - like it you were a guest in her house. Cocktails are mind blowing colorful and delicious. Yes they have the favorites but the house cocktails are really special. Think if Willy Wonka for drinks - the lavender is lavender. The menu is killer the apps called shareable are meal size. The Brussels Sprouts had a ton of goodies. The pizza is one of the best I've ever had. Blueberry Elk salami and there were layers of the other salami. The crust was thin but not cracker and the edge doughy to perfection. Of course we had a pasta too. Homemade light and plentiful ingredients. The desert and service tons off your night. They are called the Dream Team on the check and they were. Jorge was our server but it was a team. When we needed something someone was right there to take your order or get a drink. Seamless server. We did end with the house chai whiskey very nice. Yes free parking in the garage. No they didn't start charging you just need to register on the website.

Yelp
Everything about this restaurant is exceptional and I cannot recommend it enough. My boyfriend happened to find it on google so we decided to go for a date night. Atmosphere was cool and unpretentious for a nice restaurant- I love that they play movies with a projector, they were playing karate kid during our dinner. We brought our own bottle of wine and paid the uncorking fee- but in hindsight we should have ordered drinks there considering how amazing and crafty they looked. The butter corn curry was AMAZING, I highly recommend it for a starter. I expected a tiny portion similar to other restaurants but it was a very large "shareable". I got the alla vodka pasta which was very good, however I do wish I added the meatballs. My boyfriend got the hot chicken pizza and loved it. It was light and not too spicy. Additional to the great food was probably the best service I've ever received in a restaurant. Jonathan was very friendly and attentive and even brought out a dessert aaand shot on the house. The Apple tartin was delicious and a perfect end to our meal. The owner stopped by and made sure we loved everything. We had such a good experience I am recommending Gale to everyone and their mother. Definitely a must if you are in Charleston!

Yelp
Omg.... If you haven't eaten here...you MUST! The Brussels sprouts and the butter corn curry are AMAZING!! The shrimp pizza was delicious!! We will be back very soon!

Yelp
TLDR: If you have a limited time in Charleston this is not the place to go. Normally when you go to anything that is rated 5 stars on Yelp its really good or great. This spot is not that. The food is a 3.5 overall. Service a 2, ambiance 2 as well. The pasta was the best thing there, the pizzas and apps were fine, but you know that feeling you could have made it yourself, that's how all three of the appetizers we got felt, the brussels, bruschetta and cauliflower. Our waitress did not know the beers on tap, and had to look at a menu to know one of the dishes. The menu is not large. We had 4 people order dinner only 3 dishes arrived. 2 of them several minutes before the third and then the fourth not at all. The ambiance feels like you are in a mall in anywhere America. The rainbow colored light, the bar seating, metal chairs, industrial walls, a projector playing tv above your head? This place is set in a random complex out of the way, which does mean free easy parking, but it feels like you could be anywhere in middle America. While our server was terrible, another server did come by and mention they had some people out sick, and apologized for the dinner not arriving. Perhaps the service was particularly just off that evening, but the food/ambiance etc this place is not 5 stars, it should be 3 maybe 3.5 at best.
google avatar

Sara A.

Yelp
As a New Yorker, I'm a pizza snob but the pizza here was DELISH! And, the customer service was absolutely fantastic, our waitress was sooo friendly and patient with us (super indecisive) and very accommodating! Thank you for such a perfect experience. Can't wait to be back! P.s. wish I took a pic of the pizza but it didn't last long enough on the table
google avatar

Megan E.

Yelp
Wow!! Amazing experience! Best place I've eaten at in Charleston! To start the atmosphere was amazing. Good music. The lights were so cool as well as the projector! Even the bathroom was super cool and clean. We got the curry as an appetizer which was sooo good. So many different complex flavors! With a nice little kick to it. I got the ricotta which was just as creamy as I was hoping with a great taste of asparagus and roasted tomato. My partner got the alla vodka pasta which was equally as amazing. Very rich and creamy as well. A wonderful blend of herbs and spices. The arugula was an amazing touch to the dish. Also we got two zero proof drinks which I loved! Especially the lavender one
google avatar

Sharon R.

Yelp
So surprised by how good this place is. You would never know it. AND there is plenty of FREE parking! The meatballs are amazing - you must have them. Then, there is this Sweet Potato Curry that comes out of nowhere that is just delicious, the crispy brussels are so good and the addition of the peppers make it just different enough from everyone else's Brussel sprouts. All the pastas were delicious, but the whipped ricotta one is truly delicious. Also the mushroom pizza really made me happy and that is an unusual selection for me. Now, let's talk about how they play old movies on the wall while you're eating and they have the coolest cocktail list. This unassuming place is not to be missed. You won't be sorry you went.

Cindy H.

Yelp
Love this place! Had such an amazing experience last night and you know it's really good when you wake the next day ready for more. Usually I start with the food because that's what it is all about, but for this review I must start with the service. These days service has taken a nose dive at most places, but not here. Amber was our server, she was friendly, described the dishes well, knew the bar menu, brought new plates with our various meals, boxed up our leftovers with super cute labels, and all around great vibe. She is a rock star! Cauliflower and Brussels sprouts were the standouts. I had to hold back and not lick the plate. Oooh, and the surprise of the night Bourbon Chai shots. I typically can't stand the smell of bourbon let alone drink it, but I was down to try. Fantastic!! If y'all can bottle and sell that stuff let me know I'll take a couple bottles! Seriously, nothing was a disappointment and can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Alicia W.

Yelp
I want to say that i loved this place so much that i am writing a review drunk! The food is so good also, equally as awesome, are the cocktails. This is easily my favorite around here for the food, drinks, and atmosphere. I will definitely return when I am in town! The Pizza guys..... the freaking pizza is great! The crust is the best part
google avatar

Renee M.

Yelp
The ambiance was fantastic! My daughter picked this restaurant as part of her white coat celebration and the food did not disappoint! Delicious! The meatballs and pizza were my favorites! We met Gale when waiting for our table to be set up and she was so kind and attentive, as was all the staff. Five out of five stars. We will most definitely be back!

Natasha C.

Yelp
Incredible food, incredible service and met Gale herself! Wonderful place, will be missed. Amazing!!

Yelp
We had such a nice dinner here that was all the garlicky goodness I could ask for in a meal. If you're looking for tasty pasta dishes or in the mood for really good pizza, this is your spot. There's a pretty significant cocktail menu but I'm not a drinker so I can't comment other than to say it exists. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
I would not recommend takeout. The server said the order would be 20-25 minutes, but I waited 45 minutes to receive my meal (on a Tuesday night). Given that Gale prices itself as a high-end Italian restaurant, this is unacceptable. We ordered the meatballs, a margarita pizza, and a shrimp pizza. The meatballs were above average but too salty. The pizza was not up to par in any category (crust, ingredients, flavor, temperature). I understand there is a different expectation of Italian food in the south, but the pizza was not cooked thoroughly or was prepared long before the meatballs (the drive home was five minutes). A $60 takeout meal deserves a higher level of attention to detail than what was provided.
google avatar

Alex T.

Yelp
great food and service was slow, but they were apologetic and gave us free dessert so no harm taken. only thing is that the noise level is quite loud, but not unbearable. a great place to try out and get a few drinks at!

Kathy S.

Yelp
We had our son's rehearsal dinner there, 2 weeks ago. It was the BEST! Food, service, outstanding. The manager John did everything he could for us, cannot say enough. I highly recommend for a great dinner out or host any celebration, you will not be disappointed. Everyone is still talking about it. Thanks to The Gale for making our rehearsal dinner the best!
google avatar

Abigail K.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I have ever been. The food was amazing, the staff was amazing, and the overall vibe was amazing. Not to mention, I wanted to try every drink on their cocktail menu. Everybody and anybody needs to try this place.
google avatar

Marra P.

Yelp
Gale was not originally on our list of places to try while in Charleston, but we are glad we stumbled upon it. The location is a little funky in an industrial area with parking in a parking garage behind it but once we found it we were pleasantly surprised with the relaxing feel inside and with cozy lighting and groups of people enjoying their evening. The service was great and timely. We loved our entrees...perfectly cooked pasta and pizza. We definitely recommend adding the meatballs to the pasta. If you're looking for a solid spot off the beaten path and chaos of downtown, this is it!
google avatar

Ted H.

Yelp
Friendly folks. Great drinks. The pasta and shrimp was perfectly cooked, the sauce was amazing.

Yelp
Shockingly good. Bar manager mixing really creative original drinks. Here with a group of 5, 3 locals 2 friends touring. All of us had an incredible time and enjoyed every portion of the meal. Delicious pasta dishes and pizzas

Really a hidden gem on Upper Meeting! The meatballs and pasta are amazing and the cocktails are top notch. Great service from passionate people as well!! Would recommend.

They have amazing cocktails and shared plates! Try their house bourbon chai shot it's phenomenal!!

Yelp
What a treat ! Very trendy ,Love the jazz And old movies playing. The Brussels sprouts were truly life changing. You have to get these even if you are not a fan! Gale, the owner , was present and thanked us for coming. The only thing I can say bad is that $12 for a small glass of wine is crazy. Same small pour anywhere else is $8. I usually have 2 glasses during dinner , for $12, I only had one

Yelp
As a resident of Meeting Street Lofts, Gale is my all-time favorite. For anyone else, skip the downtown parking chaos and go here. Parking in the garage is free and abundant. The food is elegant. I had the whipped ricotta last night with the speciality pasta. They always make me feel like family even though I spilled my water. Because the menu isn't ginormous you can be assured everything is fresh just for you. As a carnivore, I like the sausage and pepperoni the best but, no matter your choices, you will have something you will be talking about later. Bella Broyles

Yelp
Gale's was absolutely amazing! We loved the cocktail menu as well as the food. All of the appetizers were interesting and delicious. I had two cocktails - both very good. The Caesar salad and the cacio e Pepe were some of my favorites

Yelp
If you haven't been here, you are missing out on one of Charleston's best kept secrets. 10/10 drinks--creative & enviable 10/10 food--stunning & delectable 10/10 service--welcoming & generous Can't ask for much else. Pro tip: bring 5-6 friends, order one of everything off the menu, & share

Yelp
Truly one of the best restaurants in Charleston! First time eating at Gale tonight and I would give 6 stars if I could. Perhaps I'm tough in my Yelp reviews but absolutely would highly recommended Gale. Great service and food was amazing.

Yelp
I never actually write reviews on here but I simply HAVE to for Gale. This is hands down the coolest restaurant I've been to and the food and drinks were all 10/10. The service was also impeccable and the sweet owner even stopped by the table. The alla vodka pasta was amazing and they make a bomb espresso martini. Also, get a dessert because they all looked yummy (the strawberry one was 10/10.) I wish I was a local so I could visit this spot frequently!

Yelp
We found this restaurant on Open Table and were very pleased with our decision. We were greeted at EJ door by a very friendly gentleman. He shared with us that everything on the menu was handmade and/or locally sourced. The menu is small and changes regularly depending what is available. The ambience of the restaurant is modern with nice jazz music playing with stained glass candles on each table. 3 of us ordered the pasta which was a house made spaghetti cooked perfectly al dente. My Dad ordered the pizza. We paired them with delicious wines that were curated by the gentleman who sat us.. All of our dishes had unique flavors and were delicious. We ended our meal with the peanut butter and apple empanadas. We truly enjoyed our experience and would recommend it to others. My favorite part was how all of the food ingredients and beer selections were locally sourced. They had a large drink menu that consisted of interesting handcrafted recipes using ingredients like guava, lavender and much more with infused spirits. If I was I the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend this restaurant to others.

Yelp
We came here in their third day of being open. The food was really good. This restaurant is well on its way. The ambiance is a tad off- it looks like every single new restaurant that has ever opened but I'm sure it will gain some character with time. To start, we had fried cauliflower. It was actually the best fried cauliflower I've ever had. My Monkfish Schnitzel was good! I was expecting it to be a little thinner but it was good none the less. The vegetable sides and the lemon were a perfect accompaniment but it probably could have done without the potatoes. I also tried the gnocchi and the margarita pizza. The gnocchi was perfect and the pizza was too. Lastly, if you're gluten free I would try somewhere else until they add more gluten free options. As I said, well on its way!
