Aaron, our host, was top-tier — professional, welcoming, and dialed in. The entire evening felt less like dinner and more like a short vacation. It was our first visit, and before we left, we locked in our next reservation. That tells you everything. We chose the three-course special for $60. It started with a specialty salad, moved into a premium entrée, and finished with an exceptional dessert. The food tasted even better than the photos — and that’s saying something. The ribs? Went there last night for our 19th anniversary dinner and they simply knocked it out of park. This is really an excellent restaurant. Everything was perfect! The quality of the food is off the charts!

This is my second visit since the remodel and the decor and atmosphere is still great. My chicken Vesuvio was not up to the usual standards. The potatoes were hard and chicken was overcooked. The rest of the dishes ordered was great!

Have not been there in a couple years, use to go all the time. New owner skyrocketed prices. 65 dollars for a prime rib? Double price from before. Noway never paying that much. I had chicken vasuvio wife had a small steak, potatoes was hard, chicken eatable but with the food to high priced, not that good, we decided Never Going Back. It used to be a great place, high prices no more self serv salad bar. Place really went down. Very sad.

Excellent food. Slow service, but a very busy night. The whole place sang happy birthday for somebody. The prime rib was HUGE! King cut $60. Ribs were excellent... $35 I will be back!

Ask to get seated on the window side so you can see the lake! We enjoyed our dinner but seeing the sunset as we left made us wish we were seated that direction. Things we ordered: - Prime Rib, Queen cut. Delicious - The beets salad - one of the best restaurant salads I’ve had. I ordered with no alterations and shared my dad’s prime rib- it is the menu ‘steak’ option. - the house salad with salmon. Salmon seems kinda of a pricey add on but you get an entire piece of salmon. Delicious! -Pork ribs. The bones slid right out! Noted by family as delicious and tender and the BBQ sauce was tangy. The restaurant said they cook them for 4 days. (Idk I can’t eat pork). Chocolate mousse cake: very good! Parking lot has a few divots and such so if you have a walker or wheelchair be a little careful. The entire restaurant is ADA friendly though. Dessert took a little while to arrive but the service for dinner was fast!

Excellent service food was exactly what I ordered. Everything was perfect high recommended. Chef Jose was very professional. The level of detail on the presentation was beautiful and food was cooked perfectly. The perfect balance of flavor, freshness, texture, aromatic, and color. Exceptional from start to finish. The service at Gale Street in was very friendly during our stop for dinner. The restaurant is well decorated and we were seated by the window with a view of the lake. Everyone enjoyed their meal and it was agreed that we would be back soon. The restaurant is great for either a formal event, or even for a casual dinner with friends. There is ample parking and a great selection of drinks.

What an amazing evening out with family. The relaxed, quiet ambiance was fantastic and gave us all a chance to talk and catch up without shouting across the table. We had a party of 9 and even across the large table we could have conversations with everyone. Our server was super friendly and funny and was extremely on top of everything. Food was absolutely amazing. Can't praise Gale Street Inn enough. Already looking forward to returning again very soon!

We've been going to Gale Street Inn for almost 30 years. We haven't been there a lot recently and decided on a Saturday night dinner. Service was good. The food was different. I started with an old fashioned which was simply not made properly. My waiter was happy to take it back and replace it with a wine which was very good. The highlight of the food menu. We started with a salad and French onion soup. The salad was good but the onion soup tasted old. The cheese was delicious. My wife ordered the Queen cut prime rib. She likes it medium. I don't know what came to the table, but it was not a prime rib and it was well done. Almost inedible. It literally looked like a football, rounded on top, and so over done. I decided to treat myself to a bone-in ribeye, medium-rare. What they brought me was overcooked and probably because it was about ¼" thick. The thing looked like it came from Ourback or similar. It was terrible. My wife didn't want to complain, but didn't eat her food. They offered us a dessert which was carrot cake. It was ok. This was like a different restaurant, where normally, everything is pretty awesome. Not sure what happened, if they are having money challenges or a new chef, but the food quality is so low. The steak was not worth 70 dollars and the prime rib not worth 50? I really left disappointed and honestly, sad. This used to be one of our favorite places.

Food and service was amazing. I played golf in the area and we finished up 30 minutes before Gale St opened. Was expecting to just wait in the car until they opened but the door was open. The host/servers had not arrived but the chef/kitchen staff said we could pick any table in the dining area but said they were still not officially open and were still getting ready. Even being early, and not their job, the chef brought us bread and water and even took our appetizer order. Our waiter showed up shortly thereafter and took great care of us for the remainder of our meal. Truly the best service I've ever received especially with us showing up before they opened. Our meals were delicious and the view from the restaurant is amazing as the sun was starting to set. Kudos to the staff and keep up the great service. We'll definitely be back.

We hosted our daughter's Baptism luncheon at Gale Street Inn (Mundelein) in July 2025, for about 30 people. I worked directly with Head Chef José who was absolutely great to work with! We were able to customize a few select dishes to be offered for the luncheon. They printed menus for us. We were able to go in the evening before and set out decor. We were also able to store our sheet cake in one of their fridges. And they cut it for us after lunch was served. The food was amazing (great sized portions!) and the atmosphere & servers awesome. Thanks again Chef José! We would definitely host another event here again!

They have very excellent service, a good bartender,some interesting and well presented food. Ribs are good, steaks, love the Beet salad. Not cheap, but a comfortable place with fine food and drinks and top notch service.

Came here with my Company on short notice. The staff quickly jumped into action. We had a party of about 20 people. The head waiter got everyone's order correctly, very quick too to be that many people. Appetizers and salads came out fast. Shortly after our meals too. Quick, accurate and delicious. Huge portions. Pricey but you get what you pay for! Great impressionable ambiance and good vibes. Very impressed

Great selection of seafood, steaks and of course the ribs! They have wonderful daily entree specials as well. I had the skirt steak special last night and it was fantastic . All the salads are very fresh and generous. Their beet salad is the best I ever had.

Good food, service, and an ideal location make this restaurant a must-visit. It's a great part of Mundelein's eateries and restaurants. Located right across from Diamond Lake, by its beach, Gale Street Inn, which is an outpost of the original classic restaurant in the Jefferson Park area of Chicago, serves delicious tasting dishes and drinks. They are known for their classic style, no-frills bbq ribs. I have not had a chance to go to their original location yet to try those ribs, but I sampled them at this location. We had made a reservation for a mid-evening time frame. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were promptly seated at a table of our choice based on the available tables. We sat with a view from a window overlooking Diamond Lake as well as the sunset to follow. We were served warm bread with sesame seeds on its crust with sweet white butter to go with it. The butter was smooth, and the bread was soft and fresh. We started with a couple of glasses of wine (one red, one white) and an order of Roasted Beets salad as an appetizer. For entrees, we order ribs & fries from kids' meals, Gnocchi Al Pesto, and Sausage Orecchiette. The salad and the kids' meal dish came out in a timely fashion, but the other dishes took longer than expected. Our server kept us informed on when we can expect our dishes to come out, but we were not informed as to why it was taking long for our dishes to be served. In the meantime, we enjoyed the delicious salad, which had a couple of different types of beets (red & gold), mixed greens, goat cheese, pistachios, and balsamic glaze house dressing. It was refreshing. I had a glass of Salmon Creek Pinot Noir, and it was smooth and not quite dry, which is good. Finally, when our entrees were served, I was ready to dig into my pasta. My Gnocchi dish looked good, smelled yummy, and tasted absolutely fantastic. It was freshly made with grilled chicken pieces, and the pesto was quite flavorful. I couldn't get enough of it. The Sausage Orecchiette was pretty decent. The sausage, with a mild, subtle taste of fennel, tasted good. There was broccoli in the dish that I didn't care for. The pasta was al-dente, which was good, but it lacked a proper portion of tomato sauce, in my opinion. My wife liked it the way it was. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Last but not least, we had scrumptious and decadent slice of fresh Tiramisu with some strawberries and drizzled chocolate sauce. It was divine. It was one of the best Tiramisu pastries I hedge had in a while. Highly recommended. We had a very good time at Gale Street Inn. It was definitely worth checking out. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and ambiance, and the food and drinks variety is great. They have a nice bar area, plenty of tables in the dining room, and a fireplace to make you feel cozy. Plus, if you get a window side table, then on a nice weather day, you can enjoy the sunset over the lake while enjoying your meal. I recommend to all those who have not been here before to check out this fabulous restaurant.

We were excited to go there - reading good reviews of the new owners, Service etc So I made a reservation on their website and they encourage you to share when you have a special occasion. I mentioned our anniversary and asked for a quiet table. Upon arrival I mentioned about our reservation and we were seated. Now, the ambiance is not much different to the previous supper club atmosphere. They painted things in white that used to be dark, but the same supperclub feeling as before. No flowers or decor on the table or in the room, not too inviting to me. Our server was friendly (just the folks at the next table who arrive shortly after us were served first and with priority, it seems to help if they know you... Theo cocktail menu was decent and somewhat reasonably priced. We had wine after that but this wasn't overwhelming: While I like that they offer budget wines at $6/glass, these options were the real cheap stuff. Next options were the really pricy ones, unfortunately no mid range options. We ended up trying their house (Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon) as those often are quite good, they were just ok. Now to the food - they do really good prime rib !! I was interested to try something else but we both decided on the prime rib, served with baked French onion soup as a starter - great prime rib, my mashed potatoes were overly cheesy and my wife had a baked potato (good!) The onion soup was a little on the sweet end. Unfortunately no comment re anniversary or so - I'd suggest to not ask for it if you don't act on it. I think there are some areas of improvement in the decor and service, very decent food! Maybe they could improve their wine menu. Not certain if I should assign 3 or 4 stars, but eill give it a other try in some weeks and the re-assess.

Outstanding experience at Gale Street Inn! Their famous fall-off-the-bone ribs fully deliver. The rigatoni vodka with sausage was exceptional - perfect sauce. Excellent meatball polenta and sausage & peppers. Cozy atmosphere and top-notch service. A Mundelein favorite that lives up to its reputation.

Across the street from a picturesque lake, if you can get a window table, please do. It's old school in here, like a high-end supper club, which is OK by me. Our server was an older fellow who seemed he's been at this job for many years. When you come across an old soldier like this it makes the dinner better in ways that cannot be described. We started with a dozen Oysters. I would have ordered something else, 'cos I usually only eat Oysters close to where Oysters live, but my pal had a taste, so I went along. They were large and fresh-I was glad we got them. They hit the spot. Next was a dynamite Wedge salad, chock full of all the wedge-y bleu cheese and bacon stuff that makes this choice zing. I have a standing rule: the first time I go into a resto, if there's a legendary item the place is "famous" for, I go for it. In this case it was the Ribs. I signed on for the full slab. Now my pal opted for a combo I had never seen: PRIME RIB and Ribs. Outrageous! The die was cast for an epic feed. The Ribs were not smoked, they were that version peculiar to Chicago where they are oven-bound, then finished on a Charcoal grill. I always get my ribs "plain" not sauced from the kitchen-I apply my own sauce at the table. Something about cooked sauce doesn't swing with me. I like BBQ sauce, but as a table condiment. It gives me the option to just enjoy the Porky goodness of the Ribs, or schmutz it up with the sauce. By the end of the meal it's usually about half and half. Don't judge. My pal's Prime Rib looked totally yummy, and he reported it was. For a place in the middle of a residential neighborhood, it's a bit dear in the wallet. Then again, that's a hell of a view outside those windows; and the fare was delicious. We had a dessert of big gooey Chocolate cake with icecream and whipped cream which was fab, and the Coffee was great too. I've never been to the Gale Street Flagship downtown, but if it's as good as this outpost, I can understand why it has been a legend for so long.

In mourning for the closing of Gale Street Inn on Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago - a favorite with the family - friends and I drove to the Diamond Lake location - everything was even better than expected - how I love those ribs!!! Was sad seeing the dining room only 1/2 filled on a Saturday night and hope that was an exception because this place is soooo nice.

Friday night fish fry-gone. Salad bar-gone. Service-Terrific the night we went. Attentive without hovering; promptly fulfilled requests. It was not busy in the dining room. Ambiance-completely remodeled (not necessarily a bad thing) but the dining room has no personality. The walls & ceilings are bright white-very bright white-as were the lights. White table cloths. Minimalist decorating (old wooden oars from a whaling boat?? Half a small wooden boat attached to the wall....one small picture of a lighthouse near the kitchen) Cheap looking chandeliers were scattered throughout while the entire periphery was dotted with closely spaced pot lights. I was reminded of a surgical suite. Food-Elegantly plated. Sauce & mushroom soup were divine. Whitefish- nondescript. Veggies-crisp & tasty but buried beneath the whitefish. Partner's pasta was cooked correctly. The wedge salad was not traditional & the dressing was ok. Food was very pricey. Some of the selections were ambitious ((Wagyu) pretentious?) enough to keep middle class folks away. I wouldn't bring small children here. Wine selection-ok. Prices were not too high. Midsized deck is a very nice addition. Live entertainment was very nice. I wish them well but I don't think we'll be back.

Me and Becky had reservations for a Special New Year 2025 Dinner at the Gale Street Inn! There were ton of folks with simmilar idea... but we still got seated right away! We got seated next to a window and we're a BIT chilly. We started off with our Calamari and Lamb LolliPops appetizers... medium rare, but well done! LOL! I ordered the New Year Apecial with Surf and Turf- a JUMBO Shirmp, Large Scallop and Fillet Mignoin Steak!! One of the most tender Steaks I've Ever had!!! Becky ordered the Queen Cut Prime Rib, but it sure looked King Size to me!! Both Steaks were expertly Cooked and Becky even loved the Dressing on the Salad. Our waitress was VERY attentive, coming STRAIGHT back with Every Little Thing we asked for! She and Gale Street Helped end our Year Right!

Several friends and I enjoyed a terrific meal at the Gale Street Inn the other day. I had the whitefish almond one, another had chicken Parmesan, and several had the fall-off-the-bone ribs -- all so delicious that we asked the chef to come out to the dining room so we could give him a round of applause. Their wait staff was very attentive. Plus we had a lovely view over Diamond Lake.

Made reservations for my Moms birthday. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. My sister in law ordered a side of Brussel sprouts which were amazing. My mom had the chicken vesuvio. I ordered 1/2 slab of ribs and loaded baked potato. The ribs were tender. However I didn't care for the flavor. It was a vinegar based bbq sauce and reminded me of a dressed up open pit sauce. I was extremely disappointed with the baked potato. For being a nice higher end restaurant, I don't understand why they slapped a "slice" of American cheese on the baked potato. It looked tacky and was flavorless. My family raves about this place so I will give it another chance.

Not the same as Gale Street in Chicago, this location looks out to the beautiful glistening waves of Diamond Lake. We are always warmly greeted by either the owner himself or one of the smiling hostesses. It's always a treat to be seated at a table looking out at the lake, but every table is a good table here. Hubby had a long week of school and studying for an exam! Successfully passing the test, we decided to enjoy a good lunch so Gale Street it was! To start we shared a cup of lobster bisque which was the soup of the day. I ordered the special of the day, Lobster Ravioli with jumbo shrimp and hubby ordered a full slab of ribs. Lobster Bisque: So creamy and rich, definitely had a nice lobster flavor and plenty of pieces of lobster in the bisque too. If we were there for dinner, we would each be enjoying our own cup instead of sharing. Ribs: The menu says the ribs have won awards and we've had friends tell us they're delicious. Our friends didn't exaggerate - they were fall off the bone delicious! Perfectly juicy with just enough sauce and fall off the bone meaty. The fries were crispy and fluffy. Lobster Ravioli: Personally, I think this was the best! The lobster raviolis were packed filled with lobster and cooked to perfection. The sauce was amazing. The shrimp was crispy and had the texture of perfectly cooked shrimp ... so hard to describe, but IYKYK! The presentation was so beautiful as well. I wanted to lick my plate clean of the sauce. I wish it wasn't lunch because their dessert menu was filled with so many delicious temptations! House made tiramisu, carrot cake, chocolate mousse cake, and crème brûlée just to name their usuals! I should have ordered a chocolate mousse cake to go for later in the evening. Service was friendly. Our glasses we refilled and we were offered more bread. Our server checked back on us several times but not too many to be intrusive. We will definitely be back again for dinner and dessert!

Truly a hidden gem. Food is consistent. Been coming here regularly for last year. A great experience, restaurant is very clean and staff is superb. A great white table cloth restaurant to enjoy a great steak with a great wine list or a salad or burger and a beer. Can't say enough about how truly exceptional it is.

Fall off the bone ribs, while accurate, doesn't mean juicy and flavorful ribs. I found myself longing for the old Gale Street ribs with the very slightly Smokey, tangy, and moist and tasty ribs. The order I got recently was, well, tender, but dry on the bottom, but pretty much jerky like on the top half. Not much flavor either. Needless to say, disappointing.

Anniversary dinner We love the Gale Street Inn Coming thru the door greeted by a nice young man who sat us next to the window with a view of the lake. Luck has it that we got Mario for our waiter, he is a delight. The food was excellent, the filet was cooked as ordered and tender as can be. We have always had great food, service's and smiles , it is such a pleasure to dine there.

This place is a hidden gem. There was nothing we could complain about. Food, service and ambiance were all wonderful. We ordered old fashions (excellent), prime rib (prime grade), baked potato and French onion soup. The soup comes with the steak dinners and it's not just a cup of broth. It's actually the baked version with cheese and croutons. As soon as I tasted it I thought game on. Not too salty like many restaurants that use bullion for seasoning. Outstanding close trimmed prime rib with a great horseradish sauce. Once again, not over salted. Soft music, upscale decor, great service from manager to bus dudes. Even clean restrooms. We are putting this on our regular stop list.

Highly recommend for a private party! We hosted a family memorial and were so incredibly pleased. Saul helped with every detail as I planned from out of state. The food is amazing; prime rib, New York strip, pasta, chicken and fish. The desserts were also delish. Everything was perfect. We utilized the bar area and it was like a private room. Ten stars!

The place was dead inside yet the food took forever. I ordered a burger and the server told me she gave out her last mustard and they didn't have any more. And the burger wasn't good so it needed condiments. The ambiance was blah and I just wouldn't go back!!

I don't normally post good or bad, but I just had one of my best meals in a while. We started with the lamb lollipops. Amazing. My meal came with French onion soup which was much better than Perry's in Vernon Hills. My entree was the queen prime rib which was great and too big to finish. Service at the bar and from he waitress was great. Coming back real soon!

Service excellent, ambience nice, huge disappointment on Ribs , used to be fabulous until new chef messed up sauce, they claim sauce the same it's not been coming here since early 90s. They were kind enough to take off my bill but I have a real problem when menu states same original sauce when it's not. Why mess with success? Lastly I think Au gratin potatoes should be an option, and who doesn't offer thousand island as a dressing. Huge disappointment on New Year's Eve.

While celebrating a big wedding anniversary with the whole family, we were very impressed with the service provided by a very pleasant staff. The food was outstanding and we were very happy with the entire experience!

Situated across from Diamond Lake, it's the perfect location. The food is always amazing (don't forget to try their table breads)! The rigatoni alla vodka is definitely my go-to and it never disappoints! Yum! Plenty of parking available! The staff is always super friendly and accommodating!

Over priced food that has no real flavor. They market upscale, but forgot they need to have quality food to be upscale. The surf and turf (shrimp) was old and inedible.

The food and service was incredible. We Will absolutely be back. Calamari & Shrimp Cocktail was excellent. Burrata Caprese Salad was elite! Kids Grilled Cheese was really good, nice amount of fries too Burger good, ribs also great! Rigatoni chicken Vodka was elite, as was the chicken Parmesan. Desserts were also really good!

Had an enjoyable dinner here on a Friday night. They had a Restaurant Week menu that was a great deal, and so much food. The Burrara Caprese salad is a meal in itself and was devine. Our server was very kind and attentive. We will be back!

We ordered the $60 three course meal for Restaurant Week. The roasted beet salad was delicious. I probably should have stopped there. The salmon had no flavor and was very fatty. The deserts were either carrot cake or chocolate cake. I picked the chocolate cake. It wasn't cake at all. It was chocolate mousse. Very rich tasting. I could only eat a few bites. I really wanted chocolate cake as listed in the menu. False advertising on the cake. Overall I had a wonderful time with my friends but the food was not good and extremely overpriced. I would not recommend this place.

Blown away by how good this place was -- I'm shocked it wasn't busier! The food and service were both outstanding. The menu is packed with amazing options and quality is top-notch. My dad had been raving about this spot for a while, and it exceeded expectations. I had the beet salad and the white fish almondine -- both were 10/10. Highly recommend!

I used to go to Gale Street with my family for every major occasion in my life from 8-23 y.o. I went tonight with my sister to the "newer" location across the street from the lake and the food and service were just as good as all those years ago. Gale Street is worth every penny because they have pride in what they do and everything is top notch. The manager made a point to circulate and make sure everything was perfect. A+ and thank you!

Fabulous. Just simply delicious. The food is wonderful. The ambience is great. The menu rocks. My friend had a wedge salad with steak and I had shrimp tacos. We came for lunch and might come back for dinner. The espresso might knock your socks off. Superb. Service? The best.

This place is a joke. Tried to go on one of the worst nights, Valentine's day. Seated 15 minutes after our reservation. 15 minutes after being seated we saw no one except water getting filled. 2 other tables walked out due to lack of service. As another table was being told the kitchen was at capacity we decided to leave too. After trying to complain to management we were offered a drink at the bar by a chef. Instead of 2 chefs standing there doing nothing, you probably should get in the kitchen to make food. I declined the free drink, if I wanted drinks I'd be a bar, not a restaurant. Absolute worst service I've experienced in some time.

Food is quite good.. Servise is good. A woman friend slipped on ice in their parking lot, had a traumatic brain injury, and died three weeks later without ever regaining consciousnes. The restaurant was torn down and rebuilt across the street. what a horrific thing to happen to a business. that was many years ago, and I have never been able to walk in the place again. I miss it.

We came in for happy hour today and the bartender let us know the manager said they are no longer doing happy hour even though it's listed on the website. This is sad and disappointing as this used to be our favorite happy hour in Lake County and we used to come every week. We came for the Happy hour food and it's no longer available or being being honored.
