I was initially skeptical about trying Gelato Sats, as some of the most highly-rated restaurants in Rio had turned out to be disappointing. However, this was absolutely not the case here—I had a fantastic dining experience.
I made the mistake of visiting alone, as many dishes are designed for sharing, but my waiter expertly guided me through the menu, and I was not disappointed. For a drink, I had the artisanal caipirinha—strong, delicious, and beautifully presented. For my main, I went with the orange and lemon chicken paired with the highly recommended broccoli rice. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the broccoli rice was a standout, featuring crispy garlic slices that added a great texture and depth of flavor.
Despite only knowing basic Portuguese, I communicated with my waiter using Google Translate. He was incredibly understanding, friendly, and made excellent recommendations, which I truly appreciated.
Overall, this was a fantastic experience. I’d definitely recommend visiting in a group to fully enjoy the variety of dishes, but if you’re dining solo, you’ll still be well taken care of. Just be prepared for a potential wait—this place is popular for a reason!
