What can I say its Gallaghers! Great steak and seafood dishes. I have never Not had a good meal at any of their locations from Covington on N Tyler Street to their delicious location in Mandeville and Slidell. I even like their newer location overlooking the Lake in Mandeville. The original Rest-A-While camp where my cousin and I were camp counselors back in the day. Highly recommend

We love the food. The kindness from the staff. Everything was delicious. If I had to eat there every day on my vacation, I'd be totally fine with that. The portions were perfect and especially for the price. Definitely check this place out and they're ooey gooey cake, omg🔥, out of this world. It's in one of the pictures I posted.

My first time at this restaurant. For a steakhouse, it’s very casual, which I like. I ordered at sautéed Pompano fish dish. It was good but such a small serving. It was maybe 3 ounces. My bad, you go to a steakhouse, you should get steak. I will next time because the steak looked great. I also got the Brussels sprouts, which were very good. The service was phenomenal! I’ll definitely be back.

I wanted fine dining for my birthday. I was disappointed. I ordered the trio appetizer. There was a sauce all over everything. The sauce tasted like mayonnaise. For dinner I ordered bacon wrapped shrimp. A huge disappointment it was so over done the shrimp was dry and hard. My husband’s steak was outstanding!! Over all for me it was not worth going back unless I want a steak.

You can't go wrong at gallaghers grill. The food is spectacular. John at the bar makes a spectacular drink. My cosmo was perfect. Not the red syrup so many have become used to. My pecan broiled cat fish was excellent.

Delicious food. Good portion. Great service and best of all consistent. The shrimp remoulade and shrimp and grits cake were absolutely divine!

:,( I was so sad that I picked this restaurant to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary at. The food was amazing, but we felt invisible when it came to service. The 20 top table next to us received excellent service from our waitress. There was no way to even flag her down because she simply didn't look our way. When the busser cleared our table, we had already finished eating for a good while, waiting to order dessert and more wine. We told him that we wanted to order dessert, but no one ever came to take our order or check on us. Waitress finally rushed to us when we got up to pay up front :(

Great steakhouse. Come hungry. They have a wide variety of steak and seafood dishes. The sides are large enough to share with a group, so a few is plenty for a crowd. Don't overlook their specials, and they were spectacular. We had the halibut and the bacon wrapped shrimp and loved it. While we enjoyed the sides, the mushroom side wasn't for us. I imagine if we had ordered steak the mushrooms would have complimented it nicely, though.

First of all, the service was wonderful! Timed to perfection, attentive but not aggressive. And since we were celebrating our 55th anniversary we were given a complimentary dessert. The food itself was excellent. My wife had ribeye steak, done exactly as ordered. I had flounder with a side of turtle soup. We shared creamy broccoli that was simply divine. Ambience? Not so much, mainly due to neighbors. Oh well. Looking forward to our next visit.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a Friday anniversary dinner at Gallagher's Grill, a well known Northshore eatery in Covington. Our table adjoined the bar area and we had excellent service that was both welcoming and efficient. Decor imparts an understated, white table-clothed elegance that is also warm and comfortable. Oddly, and perhaps because the crowd was at near capacity, the noise level was intense; comparable to the loudest sports bar I have ever visited. Perhaps some intimacy could be achieved at the furthest corners of the establishment, but I doubt it. Strange, considering the aforementioned elegant vibe of the dining room. We started with an Oyster Pablo appetizer, which is a Louisiana take on Oysters Rockefeller that is appropriately "Creolesque" and tasty. I enjoyed a good house Cabernet with dinner; my mate had the signature "smoky" old fashioned, which she said was excellent. I had a Caesar salad that was adequate and my wife had the spinach salad, which she thought was primo. I followed with the 16 oz. sirloin, which was prepared to medium rare perfection, and she very much enjoyed the catfish pecan meunière. Accompanying French bread was good. Prices were as you would expect at a higher end steak house, with food quality being high. All in all, it was a good experience at Gallagher's.

This is my first time in Covington. I am a foodie and always knew LA had some great food. Today confirmed that i have been missing out for 45 years. I ordered the Redfish Couvillion. This is a cajan inspired dish with blackened redfish, shrimp and crawfish over creole tomato sauce rice. I loved it!! I also had the turtle soup which was fantastic!!

We started with the Gulf Oysters Brochette (wish I had taken a picture) they were mehh not a fan the sauce was also just really weird. Should have just gone with the safe choice of the Oysters Pablo next time we know though. For entrees I got the Pompano I believe and he got the ribeye with the bernaise sauce he didn't like the sauce and said was made wrong lol he's a harsh critic though. The Brussels were mid however we are Brussel sprout connoisseurs lol. He had been before and knew the key lime pie was a must and I'll agree it was amazing, however I got the baileys cheesecake and it was so delicious! I also had 4 of the blueberry cosmos such a good cocktail! Waitress was nice and sweet, did however take a minute to greet us and had to ask flag her down a couple times we dined fairly early at 5:30pm and it was very dead not busy at all but other that that had a great experience.

Going to a Pat Gallagher's restaurant. It's always a wonderful experience. I've grown up and lived in this area all of my life, and every time we go to a Gallagher's dining establishment we have had superb experiences. Definitely hard to decide between amazing fresh fish or scrumptious steak selections! Good luck trying to pick only 1-2 sides, too! During this trip, I tried a cup of the shrimp étouffée, which was perfectly spiced, and so fragrant! I could've ate a bowl for dinner for sure! If you're looking for a special experience, in a nice, low-key setting, this is your place. On the west side, I personally prefer the Covington location over the Mandeville locations (been to all on both sides of the parish). I recommend reservations, which you can do thru Open Table. Enjoy!

If you're looking for a place with good food and good service, this is your place! I've dined here quite a few times and I've yet to be disappointed.

Great food and great service. Take a pocket full of money cause you gonna pay for everything! Would I go back, probably not as high as it was. Dropped $150 for me and my date without any alcohol. One and done, but if you got plenty of cash...you will enjoy it!!

Didn't meet the expectations of the buildup. The food was good, but not worth the price. I didn't think it was anything special. The service was good and we were seated right away. Our table was too close to the couple next to us. There was no such thing as a private conversation and now I know far too much about the couple next to us. Overall, a bit of a letdown.

I asked for a medium rare steak and I got an extremely rare steak! But other than that I would say it's very nice.

Food is good Bar staff and wait staff are good Hosts at front desk on the other hand would not let us sit at the bar stating we needed a reservation at the bar (we arrived at 5 p.m. and there was no one at bar), we used to eat here (and Pat's other locations) at least twice a week, haven't been back in 3 months.

Came here for my Anniversary dinner. Made reservations at 7pm. Ordered the eggplant appetizer. It was good..needed a little seasoning..cracked black pepper. I ordered the petit steak medium. My husband ordered the fried redfish. It came out fresh and hot. My husband ordered to be potato soup before hand...it never showed up...we ordered the potatoes au gratin. It was good, but the potatoes could have been cooked more.. everything was good. It was super busy.

Normally we like this restaurant but the last couple of times we've been there the food has been marginal. Today we ordered steak and each got a salad. Our granddaughter asked for fries as an appetizer and she also ordered steak. Our salads and steaks plus the fries all came out at one time. The Caesar salad was nothing more than wilted lettuces with too much dressing. The fries were cold and one of the steaks over cooked. We didn't get refills of iced tea or water and when I asked if it's the normal practice for salad to come at same time as main meal I was told that that's just the way it is... I've never had salad cone out at same time as main meal. The entire experience was lackluster and our server was inattentive and not at all apologetic. I do not recommend going here for lunch.

If I could give a zero, I would. Bought a gift card for an upcoming birthday gift. When the charges hit the bank there was a $20 additional charge that was not authorized. Questioned the person who sold the gift card a few days later who swore it must of been a mistake. Left my number for her to "look up" what happened and haven't heard a word. Got our money back before we left. They did offer a courtesy gift card for us which we declined.

Two words... Da Best! Been going to Gallagher's for 10 years since we moved to the North Shore. Guys... Your Gals will love the food here and they will be impressed by the atmosphere. Simple but elegant and the service is impeccable. Mr. Pat usually frequents all of his venues but this one (my opinion) is his crown jewel. Don't expect any chain restaurant foodies. Expect the best to be the norm. Cheers!

My wife and I were celebrating 10 years as a couple. We started off with the crabcakes which were amazing due to the them being about 80% lump crab meat. There is a loaf of bread at the table that we used to clean up the excess flavors from the crabcakes plate. The steaks were delicious. We had a ribeye and a cowboy ribeye medium rare. I am a sauce-lover but had no issue enjoying these steaks without one. For the sides we chose the brussels sprouts and creamed spinach. The sides were nice but nothing I could label as a must-have. We had the creme brulee for dessert which is our favorite go-to and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent. There was never a moment where we waited for anything. The specialty cocktails left more to be desired. We enjoyed a cucumber cooler, an Italian paloma, lemon basil smashes, and something called brees knees I think. The cucumber cooler had the best flavor. The overall theme though was that the pours were way too heavy. I would have paid the same price for less liquor in each drink. The dinner atmosphere is dark. The decor doesn't exactly shout romantic evening but more of this is a friend's home. Overall if you would like a great steak then do come to 527 but be prepared for a hefty bill to enjoy it as we did.

Great food, good service and nice ambience. We had the lunch specials on Thursday. Wedge salad with steak and of course turtle soup!

~~~ What is going on - I keep editing this review to be 5 stars, but when posted in Yelp it only shows 3 stars. ~~~ My mom & I stopped overnight in Covington on a road trip to Atlanta, and I wanted to take her to a real Louisiana restaurant for dinner. Gallagher's had good reviews on Yelp and it was close to our hotel, so decided to try it. I was a little concerned that it was expensive, and might be one of those trendy places with more style than substance. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised!! This place is FABULOUS!! Everything we ordered arrived at the table sizzling hot and amazingly delicious. Our favorites the Eggplant Orleans appetizer (yowza!) and the Seafood Mirliton Dressing (it was so good, my delectable filet was cast in the shade). So, so worth the price. Wish we lived closer and could visit Gallagher's often. We salute the chef!

Usually dine about every other month...great food and excellent wait staff. Always a problem with trying to dine at the bar even with reservations. Male host is rude. We will not be back.

Fantastic dinner! We called ahead to reserve a table. I suggest doing so. There was plenty of parking in the front of the restaurant. We entered the restaurant and were greeted and seated right way. Our server was attentive and friendly. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer. It came with two different dipping sauces. Both were yummy! The calamari was crispy. I had the pompano with a crab meat butter sauce. Wow, it was so good that I could have drank the sauce! I had a side of Brussels with bacon. They were pretty tasty. The corn grits were delicious. I also enjoyed the sweet potato casserole. We didn't have room for dessert, but I definitely want to go back soon. Maybe next time!

I really hate to write this. Gallagher's is one of our favorite restaurants, and we only get to eat there a few times a year. It was a date night/anniversary dinner. The service was spectacular, as usual, which was refreshing because these days service can be hit or miss. The prices were high, but we expected that and were fine with it. The food was not as good as it usually is. I did not even tell my husband that I was disappointed in my entree. The taste was just not right. The sauce had too much lemon or something. I couldn't put my finger on it. The sides were good. The app was delicious. My husband loves steak and was really looking forward to eating a big filet at Gallagher's. It is usually so good. The big chunk of filet was a disappointment. It came out sizzling and smelled delicious. It looked delicious. It was, unfortunately, anything but delicious. I noticed that he had to saw through the meat a bit. That is unusual for a filet. So I asked him about it. It was cooked properly. He said that the quality of the meat was not the usual and that it was kind of tough. He is a steak lover, which is the reason we went to this restaurant, but he did not enjoy his steak. In all fairness, the server asked if the food was okay, and my husband said yes. He does not like to tell the server that something is wrong with the food.

The food is jus so so. Kind of bland. Prices are too high for the quality and quantity of what you get. The key lime pie is the best I've ever had.

I have been to Gallagher's 3 times. The first two times were great but my recent trip was a terrible experience. I ordered the 16 ounce NY strip because it is one of my favorites and also the chef's favorite according to the menu. My steak came out paper thin and well done. Sent it back and the second steak was an unappetizing grey and equally thin. This time nearly raw in the middle but since it was so thin it quickly cooked through on the hot plate . If it were not for the butter it was sitting in there would be no flavor at all. No sear, no seasoning and no flavor. First steak I've not been able to eat served at any restaurant. I asked the waiter if it was even a NY strip. It was wide and lacking the distinctive NY shape and paper thin. He told me they had to cut them thin to make the weight. Hard to believe a 16 ounce NY needs to be so thin it can't be cooked properly. The waiter took the second steak back. One star since I wasn't charged.

Party of 3 for lunch on Thursday. Patrick was our waiter and he was excellent. We ordered the crab cake appetizer and the eggplant with lump crab meat. Fantastic. Two of us had a lunch special - salad, entree and dessert. My husband had the enormous pork chop which he said was delicious. Delicious food for the money.

The first time we went we sat at bar. The staff, trish & jp at the bar and chef mike are wonderful. The food is on spot. We go back every tuesday. Everything is wonderful.

Excellent food and outstanding service. Best restaurant in Covington! Steaks are delicious, sizzling snd juicy. The wine list is very good as are all drinks from the bar. The crab cakes are amazing, the fish dishes are sumptuous. I always have a difficult time deciding between a steak and the halibut, red fish or pompano. All are exceptional. I particularly love the Pompano. The crab cakes for appetizer are a must! Delicious and satisfying g every time we go. Service is always courteous, friendly, helpful, prompt and informative. Highly recommended!

Review 700! I remember thinking when I was a baby Yelper that people with 700 reviews were awesome and that I'd never have that many but now I'm here! Started from the bottom now we here-haha! So yay for that! I knew this review had to be special so I chose Gallagher's Grill for the honors. I was taken here for my birthday and it was perfect from start to finish. We ordered the Crabmeat Ravigote to start and it was amazing. Big lump crabmeat perfectly cooked and seasoned were a joy to eat. It was so delicately delicious that I could have ended the meal right then and there and been one happy camper. But there was more to come. The turtle soup was pretty good, but I have preferred a more tomato-y flavor. The real star here was the steak. Oh my goodness. We split the Cowboy Ribeye cooked just to our liking (medium rare) and truly loved every bite. I can honestly say I did not want the meal to end. The steak needed nothing. I mean nothing. I love steak but I normally end up putting salt and pepper on it when I order it anywhere else. Not at Gallagher's. I don't even know if there was salt and pepper on the table because I never looked up from that delicious piece of meat until it was gone. It was perfection on a plate. Big time. Service was impeccable and our waiter was awesome. Friendly and professional and visited our table often enough but not too often. I really dislike when servers check on me too much-like they are just waiting for me to hurry up and eat, hurry up and pay and hurry up and get out, you know? Again, not here. We were able to sit and really enjoy our meal at a nice relaxed pace and it was perfect. I love this place and hope to return many times. You'll like it too, so just get over there as fast as you can!

The food is incredible. I got the ribeye Pittsburgh style and it was perfect! Crispy dark sear outside, medium pink interior, cooked to perfection. I also love their seafood stuffed merliton when it's not too heavy on the thyme but unfortunately most times it is overpowering . But I keep ordering it hoping they'll tone that down. The Trio appetizer is huge and killer good. You could've definitely made a meal off that alone! Unfortunately when hubby's Pompano entree came it was a third the portion of what's been pictured here on yelp. Tiny little pc of fish. Size was disappointing but flavor spot on, amazing, delicious! So five stars on the food. The service was also very good , very fast too. Although they kept playing musical chairs all throughout our meal. Pretty distracting‍Took the two extras from our table and kept moving others around back and forth in front of us. There was a big party next to us and the customer literally had her back up against our table it was so crowded. The dining room is a brick floor and really no fabrics to absorb sound, the place was packed and it was so loud I don't dare measure the Decibels ... super loud and noise was off the charts! We couldn't even hear each other talk at all. It was my birthday and I would've appreciated being able to converse with my husband. Due to that noise we really couldn't stay as long as we normally would've liked for a special meal like this. Frankly it was very nerve wracking and we skipped ordering dessert and left for some quiet. Sadly my nerves were shot it's really a shame because the food was absolutely delicious. I just wish we could've had a quieter enjoyable dinner where we could hear each other speak.

What a great spot! The steak here is the best in Covington easily! We had a great experience from the time we walked in until we left. The atmosphere is great also. We were there last Saturday, my husband had the steak and I had a salad and it was scrumptious! The staff is very well trained and accommodating, we had such a polite young man help us with our orders. He even offered secondary choices when I asked some questions. All in all, a great experience and I will definitely visit again!

Wow! Gallagher's Grill far exceeded my expectations. I am always on the lookout for restaurants that I haven't tried yet. Having heard about Gallagher's on the radio, and in print media, I decided it was time to give it a try. I arrived a little early for my reservation and the place was packed. Since my table wasn't quite ready, I headed for the bar. I will admit that I was expecting a much fancier looking place, but it had a sort of old New Orleans feel which I am quite fond of. Once the table was ready the real magic began. Gallagher's menu is pretty typical of a high end steakhouse. For appetizers we began with Oysters en Brochette and Crabmeat Ravigote. Both were incredibly good. The oysters were so perfectly cooked that we nearly ordered a second batch. Considering how much food we had already ordered, I am glad we resisted that urge. For my entrée I decided on the prime cowboy ribeye. It was, without a doubt, one of the top ten steaks I have ever consumed in my life. I don't say that lightly as I love all things steak, but it was truly incredible. It was a perfect medium rare and served New Orleans style with sizzling butter. Service was excellent. Everyone from the hostess to the owner was accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. I really liked that the owner/chef was walking around to ensure everyone's entrée was up to snuff. I really like this place and think you will too. It isn't as fancy as Dakota or La Provence, but I think it is one of the best restaurants on the northshore.

I just had dinner here and have not been to this restaurant in a while (post Covid} and the food is still really good. Service was phenomenal. Great dinner even though we came late, it felt like we were the first people there. Very accommodating.

This is my favorite bar in Covington... After a cocktail, you can order the best steak on the planet!! Why bother ordering one anywhere else.. Cozy, Great Staff, Super cool Bartenders....My Mr B's in Covington. I feel like my dog in the car going to Camp Bow Wow everytime I am on my way there....LOL

I have Celiac Disease (gluten free) GF meal: pan seared (w/o flour) pompano w crab and citrus sauce. Staff very knowledgeable about GF items and helpful with menu choices and changing preparations. Fish was not flavorful and if the sauce wasn't there, would have had no flavor. Sides are purchased "for the table"-- not worth the price paid for entrees or sides. Service was great, though.

This was an anniversary dinner for my fiancé and I. We made a reservation and the table was ready for us when we got there. We ordered drinks- they were delicious! The oyster appetizer was delicious. We got a side of Brussels sprouts, that was the only thing we didn't love, they were kind of mushy. We also got a side of the corn grits which were amazing! But the star of the meal was the steak. We got each got a ribeye, cooked medium rare. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and the seasoning was very flavorful. The meat just melted in your mouth. It was wonderful. I took part of mine home and even a few days later it was delicious! And, they have is a free dessert since we were celebrating our anniversary. It was a great experience and I can't wait to go back!

My dad and I were celebrating our March birthdays and thought this would be a great place to relax and enjoy some good food especially based on the past stellar yelp reviews. The atmosphere was a little more formal than expected(quiet dining room with white table cloths and set tables) We decided to sit in the bar area as it had a more casual feel. The chef, Pat Gallagher, introduced himself as he got up from his break and headed to the kitchen. The food was very good especially the oysters brochette.The menu selections is what sealed the deal for our reservation because everything looked so appealing. The service was top notch also. He surprised us with a chocolate dessert since I mentioned it was our birthdays which added the perfect ending to our meal. There is a nice bar tucked away in the back of the restaurant perfect for a more casual dining experience overlooking a beautiful bamboo garden and patio. Overall, we had a great dinner and would suggest Gallagher's for any special occasion.

My fiancé and I ate here for an anniversary dinner. We had a reservation and were seated promptly upon arrival. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was towards the nicer side while being relaxed at the same time. As for the food, we started with a baked oysters starter from the specials menu. I can't recall the name, but it was really good. We each got the ribeye steak medium-rare. The cook was a bit inconsistent. A few parts of my steak were quite rare, but the temperature was correct for the most part and the flavor was excellent. We ordered sides of bacon braised Brussel sprouts and cheese and corn grits. The grits were awesome! For dessert, we were treated to the four less chocolate cake on the house for our anniversary, which was a lovely end to a lovely meal.

Dinner on a Saturday night in Covington. Sat in the main dining room ~ 6:30 PM. Most places would be sparsely filled, but Gallaghers was jamming ! Service is top notch ! No rushing you. Cocktails, appetizers delivered promptly. Best steak (16 oz ribeye) on the north shore . Cooked & seasoned perfectly. Pecan crusted backed sweet potato casserole tasted even better than described. Filet/soft shell crab my wife had was equally delicious .

Excellent steaks and best ribs anywhere. Turtle soup and bread pudding are also very strong.

Gallagher's is a great place to eat! The atmosphere and food are top quality! We eat her often and enjoy the drinks as well as anything on the menu! You can't go wrong with this place!

First time going to Gallagher's grill. My husband and I both had the filet and shared a potatoes au gratin and sweet potato as the sides. The steaks were amazing, best ones on Northshore in my opinion. However the potatoes au gratin were not good, to the point we just left them. I think if we just chose the correct sides it would have definitely been 5 stars.

This is my favorite place for steak on the Northshore. We have been here many time and it is consistently awesome food. From the wine to dessert it's all delicious. Even lunch in 1st class. Service to great as well. I have never had a complain. I am sure if I did they would fix is ASAP. I recommend this for everyday meals as well as special occasions.
