Galle Fort Hotel

We are a family of three with a toddler child that stayed at Galle Fort Hotel for two nights in the Library Suite room. ||The location is very central within the fort and easily walkable to restaurants, shops, tourist sights, etc. ||The hotel was a large colonial house now converted into a hotel. It’s well designed and decorated with character. Our room was quite large and the hotel anticipated our arrival by preparing milk and an extra bed for our toddler at no extra cost. The room was clean and generally appeared nice. ||The staff are very friendly and quite helpful. They tried their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The service was excellent. ||There were a selection of Western and Sri Lankan options for breakfast and everything were tried was good. The restaurant even took a simple custom order for our toddler’s breakfast. ||The restaurant / bar, Ropewalk, serves fantastic cocktails and is very popular. Unfortunately, this popularity leads to noisy evenings and the rooms near the restaurant like ours have to hear loud music until after 10pm. ||Value doesn’t feel great for the room, but the service was top notch.||Highly recommend this hotel more for adult travelers or families with older children.

Beautifully designed hotel, exemplifying Sri Lankan heritage. We stayed in the Library and had a wonderful stay. The stocked arrack bar is a beautiful feature. Breakfast kiributh was probably the best I have ever had…and that is saying something!

An utterly beautiful hotel with so much history, sympathetically restored and developed. This is a rarity!|The busy street belies a tranquil courtyard filled with flowers. |We arrived early and our room wasn’t quite ready but were welcome warmly, served refreshments, had our luggage stored and freshened up before a wander around the fort for some lunch. |The location couldn’t be better, right in the middle of Galle Fort and just a few minutes walk to all the sights and restaurants. |Our room was perfect - cool, quiet and comfortable alongside the lovely pool. |The small gifts of handmade chocolates, body lotion and tea were very much appreciated. |Breakfast was fantastic - fresh fruits, a choice of teas and probably the best granola bowl I’ve ever had. |The adjoining Ropewalk cocktail bar is a must visit. |Beautiful spot, attentive staff and a wonderful stay. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic place, with a history, heritage, ambiance and style only rivalled by nearby Aman. We stayed for three nights while exploring Galle, and the location is great. The service is absoluty wonderfull with such warmth and true dedication to the heritage of the hotel, and the food is (as everywhere in Sri Lanka) very very good. We had been to Galle some years before (Aman) and had actually booked another hotel outside the fort, but it turned out to be a mess, so we called Galle Fort and booked a room there, what we should have done from the start. The room was specatular, insanely large, super clean and very comfortable, beutiful decor, same for the rest of the hotel, wonderful pool, bar, restuarant deck, cool ambiance with live music, all in all a wonderful stay, I am sure we will be back.......

Beautiful colonial style boutique hotel in the heart of Galle old town. The staff were excellent, friendly and welcoming especially Ravintha, Nimanth ( not sure of correct spelling) and Kalpani. We had breakfast and dinner both days and the food was outstanding, so delicious and beautifully presented. We met the chef, I didn’t catch his name but want to acknowledge his excellent food. There is an amazing cocktail bar on site serving a great range of fantastic cocktails and premium spirits. The bar looks amazing. Magnificent pool which was great coming back to after the heat of Galle town. I loved our loft suite with four poster bed. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel and their wonderful staff.

We stayed in one of their two story duplex rooms. The bed is upstairs, and oddly our bathroom downstairs. This would not have been a problem, but in our room the stair creaked like firecrackers on every step. Result was it was impossible to go to the loo at night without waking one’s partner||Lovely pool||Breakfast on the patio was excellent||This is a sympathetically converted heritage building. It is in the centre of town, so all attractions and restaurants are in easy reach

I am reviewing the hotel restaurant. We had dinner at Galle fort hotel tonight. They have a special December a la carte menu. The 4 of us had the most expensive main dish on the menu which is the roasted pork belly. We could not believe the size of the portion. We had so little on the plate, it was ridiculous. I believe i had half a potato and a third of a carrot as side vegetables. As far as meet is concerned, the size and the quality was equally disappointing (half of it was just fat). We ended up having to go to another restaurant for a second serving that same night. We definitely do not recommend this place. It's rip off.
