Yelp
Gallery made it to the VIP list of one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. I saw the Anthony Bourdain photo in the reviews before I got there, so that was my first hint of what was to come.
I am traveling solo to Indianapolis so I walked there from my Airbnb. It's not far at all from the hustle of downtown. I was at a wedding last night so slept in late and woke up starving. Gallery has all day brunch...so I was like hell yea, brunch at 2pm?
The inside is gorgeous. Music isn't too loud. Wait staff are friendly. The display case full of their gorgeous pastries is a definite draw in.
Being a Saturday but an off hour (2pm), it wasn't extremely busy. And i was by myself. So I got seated immediately. I was also dying from the 90° weather, so when the waitress brought cold water so fast I gulped down two cups. She brought a whole bottle of water though so I just kept refilling. Love to see it.
Okay...the drink menu?! Hello?! Look how many options!!! I wanted to try all the cocktails and mimosas but knew it wouldn't be good for me in the heat. Dang! But look at their cute little Pride drink menu!! (Oh and they had a Pride flag hung up too. Bonus points.) I finally decided on the sparkling strawberry lemonade. It was served in a fancy ass glass which I'm sure made it taste even better. The flavor had so much depth and didn't taste like it was fake strawberry syrup and chalk full of sugar (Wendy's strawberry lemonade, for example). And it was sparkling to it added more of an experience. Cheers!!!!
Alright...I must have had an angel whispering in my ear that said, "Hey child, order the croissant and gravy." I did just that and my eyes almost popped out of my sockets when they served it. A huge but tasteful looking bowl of sausage gravy topped with over easy eggs. Perfectly salt and peppered. And a flaky, toasted croissant with the perfect crunch was cut into a couple pieces and nestled in the side. This is not your plain ass biscuits and gravy. This is texture paradise. There was plenty of sausage, unlike some that serve only a couple tiny pieces. The gravy was delicious and the eggs were a great addition. I added their house sauce (+ .50) and it was worth it to drop a bit of spice on it all. I texted my friend "holy f" because it was just. That. Good.
I forced myself to save some of this for later because I wanted room for one of those pastries. The waitress helped me decide from the display case- I picked the lemon cheesecake with the raspberry on top. I was already pretty full so I only ate half, but my other half is begging for me longingly. It was pretty rich and not overly lemony. I freaking love cheesecake and this one is great. It was $10 though for a little piece, so if you don't have room to carry it or extra $ to spend, you'll be good without a pastry.....maybe.
I am so serious when I say I will remember this meal forever. And it really didn't break the bank. Would've been $20 without my extra shenanigans. Oh and I got a pear lavender sparkling lemonade to go because I just needed to try it. Another amazing decision.
I love you Gallery. I'll miss you. Don't forget to write.
