I can’t say enough good things about Gallery Cafe! Every time I visit, they never fail me. Their hand-carved sandwiches are incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients — everything is made with fresh, flavorful components, and it shows. The portions are huge (you definitely get your money’s worth), and the prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food you receive. They also offer plenty of convenient grab-and-go options, which is perfect if you’re in a rush but still want something fresh and satisfying. The cafe itself has lots of seating, and the space is very clean, bright, and welcoming. The soft background music adds to the great ambiance, making it a comfortable place to relax and enjoy your meal. On top of that, the staff are all incredibly friendly, and the owner in particular goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. If you’re in DC and looking for a spot with amazing sandwiches, generous portions, and a warm atmosphere, I highly recommend Gallery Cafe!

I went here for Breakfast two times this week the food is amazing fresh very good the restaurant is very very clean. It has become my go to spot. I would love to try their lunch the customer service is outstanding the people are very friendly. The prices are reasonable. I will recommend to everyone you won’t be disappointed.

$20 for a sizable teriyaki chicken bowl & small soda fountain, not terribly priced for Dc — good quality, enough to save some for another meal.

I usually don't have a lot of time for lunch when in town, so this place is a life saver. Service is always quick and the food is delicious. I highly recommend checking it out.

My experience was great, the staff was very attentive, the atmosphere was clean and pleasant, with music by Jezz, and the prices were very affordable. I ordered the Green Macha, and the sandwich is made to order, just the way you like it. They also have lunch, which is VERY GOOD!

Staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, our coffees and pastries were delicious, prices were reasonable, and the cafe is comfortable and spotlessly clean. If you are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn across the street, do not hesitate to make this your spot fot breakfast.

Obsessed with the turkey pesto panini. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Fresh thick hand carved turkey and quality ingredients. And reasonably priced!

This is my daily morning stop for breakfast and an iced coffee, and sometimes for lunch too. The staff here is great—super friendly, attentive, and it makes me feel like a small town kind of place. It’s a great start to my morning.

Stopped here for a quick lunch after a doctors appt and thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich! I ordered a chipotle Chicken panini and everything tasted fresh and the chicken was extremely juicy and flavorful! Most times deli chicken is dry so this was a nice surprise. A little pricy for just a sandwich but that typical downtown DC prices. I would definitely frequent this sandwich shop again!

Their online ordering is not working and when I called to place an order, the woman answering the phone was extremely rude, saying she knows and I have to come into the store, then hung up on me immediately. Absolutely obnoxious, terrible customer service.

This place is SO good; for breakfast and/or lunch. Try the vegetable burrito! So good! And huge. The portion sizes are great. P.S. Isn't it nice to see small DC businesses still making tasty food with a smile?! Come on, gimme more!

Gallery Cafe is the best place downtown for delicious yet reasonable sandwiches for a weekday lunch. They use quality ingredients, including fresh-carved turkey and real chicken breasts, and have a HUGE variety of options. The prices are fair and the sandwiches are filling--and they also have salads, wraps, bowls, and burritos. My favorite is the turkey pesto panini (or any of their paninis, really). They are quick, particularly if you don't go right at noon, and willing to make accommodations (like no onion, or a bread swap). My favorite workday lunch!

Quick stop kind of place but it was bigger than I expected tbh. On the way to check out they is an option for other food options like fruit, drinks, yogurt, etc which is nice. I also only spent $14 on two sandwiches which were big in size and nicely priced. I had an orange after so I was nice and full. Definitely we be back on my next trip.

If I could give 0 stars I would! The most vile and disgusting burrito I have ever received in my lifetime. Wrong items inside of the burrito, overcooked, and mushy rice. The manager, Michael, was no help and all he did was apologize. Will never eat here again!

The Gallery Cafe is a cafe on the second floor of a building right next to the McPherson Metro in downtown DC. It's one of those shops that has a smorgasbord of options from packaged goods to snacks to a bar offering handmade food. In the mornings, they sell bagels and breakfast sandwiches. I ordered a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich on a sesame bagel. It was very filling, just a few dollars, and was made quickly. They also have coffee behind the counter for order. If you're in a rush and need breakfast, I recommend this spot!

We arrived in hopes for some rye as we were both dangerously famished, i ordered a sandwich and she some coffee, shit was fucking insane; game, shame, not at all tame (will return asap) 10/10

This is my favorite breakfast and lunch spot downtown! I've been patron for many years and have always enjoyed my meals! I enjoy the carved turkey breast sandwich often. They have a wonderful selection of sandwiches and salads that patrons can customize. (they even have whole cranberry sauce that I add to my turkey sandwich) The employees are wonderful and the restaurant is always very clean and well maintained. The coffee bar is also top notch!! In the morning they make eggs to order with your choice of breakfast meats and breads. So yummy!!!! They're only on on weekdays. You won't be disappointed.

Can't go wrong with a sandwich here! For not much more than mystery meat at a chain store they carve real meal fresh for you here. Turkey is off the bird just like thanksgiving not weird processed coldcuts and the roast beef, ham, and Cuban roast pork is real and fresh too. Add your choice of bread and toppings and you've got the best sandwich in DC.

My word. Where do I start. To begin, looking at the pictures posted below etc, literally everything in this place has been upgraded. It the best smelling, cleanest, quick operating, and delicious lunch place near McPherson hands down: it is extremely clear that the ownership cares about investing in the facilities as well as in hiring and maintaining EXTREMELY friendly, helpful, and alert employees. These workers care about your experience and it truly shows. Not only that, but they are seemingly over staffed with an employee at every station to keep you from waiting. If there is a line at the register they will know and immediately open up another. The iced coffee is fantastic and comes with coffee cubes. Very strong/comparable to compass/Starbucks in terms of caffeine. The lattes are great and they have so many food options it is hard to decide. The many specials utilizing the hand carved meats are all fantastic. I have gotten breakfast numerous times and highly suggest the turkey pesto panini, their soups, and truly everything is amazing. I am in awe that a restaurant can run like this. Don't spend your money elsewhere for lunch in the city!

This place use to be called Cafe Phillips and it was a real nice place. I had to work in a different area for awhile and now that I'm back, I wanted revisit for a nice sandwich. The sandwich was nice but I see an extreme hike in the price. Basically, all the sandwiches start at $6.95 and I had to add cheese and bacon (I wanted a turkey club), and it was extra. So my one sandwich was $9.30. I know we're downtown, but still, it was just seemed a little steep to me.

My office just moved to this area and I wandered over here for lunch. It was delicious, fresh and reasonably priced. So glad to have stumbled on this gem. There is also a nice area for seating and the whole place is clean and inviting -- a local joint with some character!

Gyro was amazing, nice selection of chips drinks and more. Quick service, and great prices.

It's hard to find good bagels and coffee that match up to NY/NJ... this place comes pretty close. They're quick, friendly, the food is on point, and they're the best in the area. Keep up the great work!

One of the few places in this area where you can get lunch for cheap and also sit down and talk. Ordering and paying is quick. The food isn't excellent but it's acceptable, save the meatball sub which was sub par. The roast chicken is good and you can get it in a burrito.

This is a very good place for people who work downtown to stop for breakfast or lunch. The sandwiches are generous, the food is fresh and prepared quickly right in front of you. They have sandwiches, salads, wraps, quesadillas, and soup. It's right near the McPherson Square Metro (14th Street exit).

Too much cross contamination. I do not eat meat so they were cutting and cooking breakfast sandwiches with meat with the same utensils . Will not be eating there again.

Gallery Café is my go-to Friday breakfast treat on my way into the office. My recent sandwich of choice is bacon, avocado, and tomato on an English muffin. It's so good, and pretty cheap by D.C. standards. Also, the iced coffee has coffee ice cubes which is great for someone like me who takes forever to finish a beverage. It doesn't get watered down, why doesn't everyone do this? For lunch they have an assortment of hand-carved meats like Turkey and Ham, plus all the staples like chicken salad and egg salad. They recently added burritos to the menu and they have salads as well. The exterior is not very inviting, but give it a chance.

This is a very neat cafe right below my work building. We were deciding what to eat, so my coworkers just took me there. This little cafe carves your sandwich meat right in front of you, so you don't have to worry about what kind of mystery meat you're getting. Since it was my first time, I ordered the beef brisket wrap. The place has a lot of wraps to choose from, slightly overwhelming yet awesome. After picking the meat, you can pick your toppings, some toppings are extra. The beef brisket wrap was very juicy and tender, for 6.95, some additions and tax, it's about 8 something, I think it is a bit pricey, but hey it's DC.

Clean and ok food. The staff weren't really friendly and didn't really smile. I got an everything bagel breakfast sandwich that was ok.

Back on my Diet. Great salads with generous portions and I took home rest of my salad it was yummy large. I had chicken Caesar salad and ingredients were fresh and chicken was cooked just right. Servers are nice, helpful in helping you decide, because there are certainly a lot of options. This place also has burritos, sandwiches and soups. I recommend and I'll try their sandwiches next time. Location is right at streetside from metro entrance.

Gallery Cafe is a fantastic breakfast/lunch spot! Mike (the owner) is super friendly, and all the staff are courteous, professional, and fast. There is a lot of variety on the menu, which includes everything from quesadillas and burritos to sandwiches, salads, and desserts. The quality of the food is top-notch - all the ingredients looked and tasted fresh, the meats are carved (e.g., the turkey in the turkey sandwich isn't cold deli meat, but hot, carved turkey breast), and the cakes and cookies are moist and flavorful. There's also a full selection of coffees, teas, and sodas, and there's a grab-and-go section with ready-made salads and sandwiches if you don't want to wait in line. The place is frequented by regulars in the morning and afternoon, and I think that speaks to the overall quality of the food. Plus, everything here can be had for a very decent price, relative to the other options in downtown DC. Those looking for an excellent breakfast and lunch spot should definitely check this place out - it's the real deal.
