The 18 Best Restaurants & Hotels In Healdsburg

"This local favorite has been serving up food from Oaxaca and Jalisco for more than 40 years. The interior is spacious with a central bar and a small handful of seats, but you should sit on their excellent patio when the weather is great (which is almost always in Healdsburg). Don’t miss their mole oaxaqueño, a rich chile-chocolate sauce incorporating more than 20 ingredients, that’s especially delicious heaped on top of carnitas. Wash it down Oaxaca-style with a mezcal-passionfruit cocktail, or try a hibiscus-tequila cocktail for a taste of Jalisco." - allison green

We had tickets for a show at the Raven theater in Healdsburg and after some searching on Yelp I decided on Gallina D' Oro and booked a reservation. We chose the outdoor seating and were greeted instantly by a friendly server and the menus. I ordered the Mezcal Sunset (Mezcal, passion fruit, pineapple, basil, ginger beer) and my wife had the La Pollita (Herradura Blanco, fresh lime, rich simple syrup). Both were delicious. We enjoyed chips and salsa while going over the menu - many good sounding choices. My wife went with the Barbacoa Burrito and I ordered the Barbacoa plate. We both loved the flavor of the Barbacoa beef which was succulent, tender and full of flavor. We agreed that my choice was the winner of the two. While the burrito was very good - the Barbacoa beef in the plate which was served in a small pot allowed the flavor to stand on its own. I enjoyed the black beans and slightly spiced Spanish rice with the tortillas. And our server (I wish I got her name) was wonderful. Prompt, friendly and attentive - and happy to answer questions and recommend great choices. We will definitely return!

So glad to stop in. First off the salsa was amazing. Always a good start. Then shared the birria tacos. Must try! Also the shredded chicken tacos were different but so good! Margs also spot on. Definitely recommend.

We sat outside on a Wednesday night. Warm and prompt service from the owner and her son, relaxed ambiance, great cocktails and food, to a soundtrack of bachata and lively conversation. We got the chicken mole (best mole we've had outside of Mexico, you can really taste the 20+ ingredients), chile relleno (the cheese!), and a smokey la bonita cocktail that let the mezcal shine through.

Google
The food was delicious!! -Salsa has great flavor and is a little spicy. -Guac was fantastic and a great serving size for the price! -Mintiroso cocktail is delicious if you love gin, mint, lime, and cucumber! -The carne asada tacos have great flavor and there’s so much meat in the taco! Well worth the $4.50! -The tostada de tinga comes with so much food! I thought it would be smaller for only $11 but it’s very filling! Our waiter was super attentive and nice! Also I really love the little devices they have on the tables outside to keep the flies away. Every restaurant should have those.

Wonderful authentic Mexican fare served with a smile!!! My wife and I enjoyed the sea bass taco, shrimp taco (pictured,) and barbacoa taco (pictured.) Delicious, warm, house made tortilla chips and salsa is included. Highly recommended! If you find this review helpful, please give it a thumbs up - - Thanks! 👍🏿👍🏽👍🏼👍🏻

Google
Stumbled upon this place before we had a wine tasting reservation at Idlewild and oh my my!! It’s GF and DF conscious. They make delicious corn tortillas in house, cut their veggies fresh, cook fish wonderfully and the freshness and flavor all come through beautifully. Would recommend the fish tacos.

Google
Such a beautiful restaurant with absolutely great food and service. The waiter offered me a cucumber margarita not shown on the menu and it's the best I've ever had. And a huge plus on the handmade tortillas Will definitely be returning!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Google
Loved this place. The staff was super friendly, great service. I had the special - it was a mole enchilada that was fantastic (they called it the Enmoladas). I also had a margarita that I really liked called the Paloma Mia. I will definitely come back here!

Yelp
My first meal ever in this town, my friend wanted seafood was taking me somewhere else. We walked by this place checked out. The menu took a chance on. It sat outside in their beautiful patio. Let's just say I had the best fajitas I've ever had in my life I got the combo so I got steak, chicken and shrimp. The portions were really big. Two of us shared it and three of us honestly probably could've. Pedro was our server super nice guy. I would definitely come back to this place. The food is amazing.

Yelp
service was amazing and staff were sweet! chips and salsa were delicious! overall a great experience unfortunately the fish tacos were not a hit. unseasoned, extremely fishy, and not well grilled. i knew getting mexican and especially fish tacos outside of socal was risky so it's my fault. no guac or cheese and again no seasoning, only flavors were pico de gallo and cabbage w a little bit of spicy chipotle sauce.

Yelp
Looking for a casual dining experience at a reasonable price in Healdsburg? Galina has a similar vibe to the original El Farolito that preceded it in this location. The interior is been brightened up a bit, but the layout's the same as before. While Gallina is a good spot for a casual dining experience, It's also a great spot for groups (there was a group of about 16 celebrating some occasion when we were there), so it can get a bit "lively" -- maybe not the ideal place to bring a first date. As for the food, the portions are generous, as are the complementary chips and salsa. We ended up "doggie bagging" half of our two meals (Machete quesadillas and Carnitas burrito. The food was OK, but unremarkable. Three stars Service was first rate -- courteous, attentive yet unrushed. Five stars on that one.

Yelp
Flavor Rebrand My recent dining experience at Gallina D'Oro, formerly El Farolito, in Healdsburg was a bit disappointing. While the menu still boasts traditional Mexican dishes, the flavors have noticeably dulled since the name change (Rebrand). The Mole Oaxaqueño was a letdown (mole was nice), but it lacked the rich chicken profile and presentation we always enjoyed from this type of dish (more mole than chicken). The nachos lacked flavor- bland-(I had them add avocado) and the chicken enchiladas lacked flavor. The white rice served alongside was a far cry from the flavorful Mexican rice I remember enjoying at El Farolito. BUT---The cucumber spicy margaritas were refreshing and delicious. It seems that Gallina D'Oro has lost its way, and I miss the authentic, flavorful Mexican cuisine and vibe El Farolito once offered. Service: Still excellent and welcoming. Perk: dog friendly

Yelp
Excellent fresh tacos and margaritas. I have come here 5 times and everything is very good and specifically, very fresh and the quality of ingredients. I also love it here because you can sit outside and eat with your dogs. Delicious restaurant!

Yelp
This restaurant is homey and inviting, with attentive and friendly staff. The warm, fresh chips and mild salsa were so addicting. The mezcal margarita was excellent; I'd definitely order it again. We had two grilled fish tacos, two carne asada tacos, and an avocado salad. It would've been nice if the fish tacos had a deep-fried option. The spicy creamy sauce and cabbage on top were the perfect compliment. The carne asada portions were generous, with well-cooked meat and the perfect amount of onions, cilantro and salsa. The salad was surprisingly large, with a huge portion of chicken. I would've preferred a creamy chipotle dressing, but it was still tasty overall. I would definitely return; the food, staff, and atmosphere are fantastic!!!

Yelp
The food at Gallina was nothing less than incredible. The ceviche was the best I've had in a while w the drinks were even better, the home made lemonade was a perfect balance of sweet and sour. The wait time for the food was about 10 minutes. The inside of the restaurant had plenty of sculptures and other art.

Yelp
Service was very good but good service cannot beat not great or bland food. We got a burrito, steak salad and pork tacos. I love Healdsburg and most Latin American food but for our taste buds it was a miss. Again service was kind and friendly we did not drink any alcohol just ate but all things ordered were bland and lacked flavor for us. Best of luck GD though.

Yelp
This restaurant was our absolute favorite when it was El Farolito, but has since gone down hill. When it first opened under the new name, the food wasn't great, but we thought we'd give it another chance as they were probably going through a transition. We have since tried it 3 more times (I guess hoping each time it would be the el farolito we remembered) but each visit has been very disappointing. The food overall is very bland, chicken is very dry, steak is very chewy, and margaritas taste like they are mostly mixer. I think we have to finally give up on going here.

Yelp
We've been going to El Farolito for years - whenever we needed a casual and quick lunch spot in Healdsburg. While we were sad to see they have rebranded and given the space a small refresh we understand. They like everyone else are trying to survive and stay relevant. Oddly, the space feels incomplete. The outside doesn't match the inside and most importantly the menu has been substantially paired down while prices have been increased rather significantly. We are happy to pay competitive food prices and even a premium for quality food, but the food itself just wasn't great. Not even quite taqueria quality food but certainly no longer at taqueria level prices. The drinks were good, but you can't slap some paint on a place, change your serve ware and add cloth napkins and substantially increase prices unless the food is really solid, and unfortunately this just missed the mark on that front. The service staff were very nice and friendly. We'll give this another try but hope they find a bit of a middle ground or up the quality and presentation of their dishes.

Yelp
The tortilla, the chips and the taco salad shell were all incredible gift wraps for some really hits-the-spot Mexican food. Service was kind and attentive, and the restaurant is right off the main square for a Healdsburg vibe. Very much enjoyed this lunchtime experience!

Yelp
Okay, won't be back. Pleasant staff. Odd atmosphere in main dining area. Spicey molé.......but don't order the $24 mole with chicken at the top left of the menu. Lots of molé over a dried out sliver of chicken breast attached to a wing joint served along with a separate wing tip......came with a flavored white rice and pickled vegetables. Sort of expected excellent chicken based on the name. Chile verde was very good. Horchatta was very good.

Yelp
Wonderful weeknight dinner! I highly recommend the Paloma, such a beautiful and delicious presentation. Tacos were on point and the best salsa and guac that I've had in awhile. Service was very welcoming. We'll definitely return and try more of the menu.

Yelp
Delicious food, great service, and all around good ambiance. Quesa Birrias tacos and enchiladas were both delicious. Salsa was also great.

Yelp
Went in for a quick bite to eat for lunch alone. Sat at the bar at the back of the restaurant. Ordered the incredible Guava Margarita....a marvel and so tasty. I was able to watch the spectacular drinks the bartender made. I wish I took pictures of all of them. Works of art. The chips are light and tasty and made right on the spot so they're hot. I ordered one shrimp and one fish taco. DEE-LISH. With cilantro crema. Loved this place so much, I went back for a quick cocktail that night before dinner at another restaurant, SpoonBar (disappointing review to come). Should've stayed for dinner at Gallina D'Oro. Will definitely return.

Fabulous Food. Great Margaritas. Great service. I would highly recommend this restaurant

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch with out of town guests. It was the BEST Mexican food I think I've ever had. I cannot say enough about the food, and a watermelon margarita to die for. The corn tortillas were so soft, the shrimp and fish delicious. So, so good! Highly recommend to all!!!

Yelp
friendly service, amazing cocktails and good food. always happy to go here. Try the Smoky Dragon for a dramatic cocktail.
