18 Best Restaurants & Bars On Galveston Island - Galveston - The Infatuation

"Galveston Bagel Company started as a little stand at the popular weekend farmers market, and quickly expanded into a full-fledged breakfast and lunch restaurant just south of Broadway near downtown. While you can get a number of bagels with cream cheese—like snickerdoodle or jalapeño cheddar—most folks are showing up for bagel breakfast sandwiches loaded with bacon and eggs, or a bunch of different sandwiches for lunch. Take a few warm bagels to go, or stretch out on the covered side patio." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

My husband and I had breakfast here this morning and it turned out to be such a pleasant surprise. Our usual spot is closed on Tuesday's so this opportunity was perfect because I'd been meaning to try this place. The staff was friendly, helpful, and patient as they waited for us to browse the extensive menu. Seriously, there's something for everyone. I'm sure there are also local favorites among the regulars so I'm really looking forward to coming back soon. I ordered the croissant panini and it was delicious. The turkey, bacon, avocado, tomatoes, and onions came together perfectly on a warm and toasted smashed croissant. I asked for their signature mac sauce to be put on the side so I could taste it first and it was flavorful, not too overpowering for the sandwich. My husband got the smoked salmon-wich on ciabatta which he really enjoyed. We also treated ourselves to some lattes. I got the cinnamon roll latte and he got the chai latte. Both were very good. You seat yourself, and clean up after yourself here, which adds to the homey, relaxed, no-rush atmosphere.

Everything we ate was so fresh, hot and delicious, I highly recommend. The staff is welcoming and lots of seating inside and outside. We had one 3 layer carrot cake, 1 Beach bum burrito with hashbrown, 1 Strawberry banana smoothie, 1 meatlovers pizza bagel, 1 onion garlic bagel with spicy jalapeño cream cheese and 1 large decaf americano coffee all under $60

This place is fantastic and accomodating. A+ Bagels and A+ coffee. First off, the bagel counter and the coffee shop inside are seperate, which allows them to properly address the two different streams of their business. I love it. The seasonal coffee offerings are phenomenal right now. pictured is the Bananas Foster Cold Brew and the Pumpkin Spice Shaken Espresso, but their regular drip coffee is also great. I have been in 4 times and been impressed with the taste, consistancy, and speed of their service. The hot mess is great, and all the sides I have tried so far are great too, hashbrowns, sausage patty, bacon. And finally, they don't have any vegan sandwiches listed on the menu BUT, the last two times I have gone with my vegan friend and they were extremely accomodating, modifying existing menu items to make something delicious, pictured below.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. The bagels and sandwiches were fantastic, but what really set this place apart was the atmosphere. Super welcoming, relaxed, and genuinely friendly. They even gave my dog treats, which instantly earned bonus points. You can tell they actually like dogs, not just tolerate them. The food was great, the vibe was even better, and it’s completely dog friendly. If you’re in Galveston, this is an absolute must-stop. Can’t say enough good things about it.

I'm from Wimberley, Texas and my travel partner is from Chicago. We meet in Galveston around the middle of Nov. every year. This year we wanted to act like a local and ask around for local places to eat. The Galveston Bagel Company came up. So off we went. We ordered the number one item on the menu. The Burrito. It was enough for the two of up. Not much on atmosphere but big on homey. Don't miss it

10000000000000 stars 🤩 Small but cute place. Amazingly friendly and welcoming employees that are helpful with the menus. Great selection of homemade bagels. Menu of fantastic flavor combos of sandwiches with the bagels. We got two sausage and egg bagels, one on jalapeño cheddar and one on sesame. Hub didn’t think the jalapeño really came through but it was good soft bagel. I got the Turkey Gouda on an onion garlic bagel and it was incredible! Packed full of good quality turkey and the cucumber was so fresh and crunchy. The bagel was incredible, crunchy outside, soft chewy inside. AMAZING! There are many more I want to return to try. Coffee place in the back is fantastic, friendly staff, nice amount of options. They just make the one mistake most small coffee shops do, not enough ice in the iced coffees. They happily have me more ice though. Love!

Normally, as someone who works in the food industry, I don’t like leaving negative reviews or complaining. But when I spend over $60 for 2 bagels and 2 sandwiches, I expect the quality to match what I’m paying for. We were visiting Galveston from Houston and looking for a quick breakfast spot. We found this place and the reviews looked great, so we decided to try it—especially because I really love bagels. When we arrived, there were only two employees working (including the cashier), and they looked very busy. I don’t have any issue with waiting; these things happen. After a bit of a wait, we placed our order and paid a little over $60. About 20 minutes later, we finally received our food. When I opened my bagel in the car and started eating, I could immediately tell it was dry and not flavorful at all. I still didn’t complain because we didn’t have time to go anywhere else. But halfway through the bagel, I felt something pull in my mouth—I initially thought it was a tough piece of bacon, but it turned out to be a long hair baked into the bagel. We went back in and politely explained the issue, and the staff kindly offered to remake the item. However, my problem isn’t just the hair. The food simply wasn’t good. The flavor wasn’t there, and the quality definitely didn’t match the price. After seeing the hair, I couldn’t bring myself to eat the replacement bagel or any of the other items, and everything unfortunately went to waste. Because of that, I would like to request a refund. I don’t believe I received the value of what I paid for. This is not about the staff—they were doing their best. It’s about the quality of the food itself, which was disappointing, especially for the price.

Google
One of the best bagel places I have been to outside of New York. The bagels by themselves are outstanding, but they have a great assortment of unique bagel sandwiches. It's great for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

Yelp
This is NORMALLY my favorite GO TO place for a BLT but was sadly disappointed today. Ordered my usual BLT ON WHITE TOAST. 1. Bread was BARELY toasted, so it felt like stale bread 2. The bacon was not fresh, it was dry and overcooked 3. Piled on lettuce then ONE thin slice tomato 4. Barely even a "spit" of mayo, and only on one slice of bread NOT worth the cost of the sandwich today. Doubtful I will return.

Yelp
November 9, 2025 It's been years since I've gotten bagels from here but today was the day. Got this order thru door dash. Half dozen assorted with various cream cheeses. Each bagel fresh and tasty and not too dense. The various whipped cream cheeses were tasty. LOVED it all. Liked the matcha, too! GREAT JOB GBC for staying consistent SUPPORT LOCAL

Yelp
Every time we visit Galveston, we must stop by and get some bagels. We love the blueberry, everything, and onion begals. The begals are always fresh and made everyday and the spreads are really good too. Customer service is always great and the inside is very clean. Overall, if you find yourself in Galveston and in need of a bagel fix, look no further than this gem. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I stopped by here earlier today with my family for breakfast. We had decided on Galveston Bagel Company the night before and placed a to-go order for 8:45 pickup. We arrived at the restaurant around 8:40 to find that the bagels were ready, but the coffee portion of our order hadn't been started yet. The lady behind the counter was still making drinks for another guest and didn't begin ours until 8:45, so we were out the door by about 8:50. For my coffee, I went with a pecan praline latte and chose a jalapeño cheddar bagel with green chile and cheese cream cheese. My coffee ended up being a sugar bomb. I could taste the pecan and sugar, which was good at first, but by the end it was just too sweet. That also meant I couldn't really taste the coffee, which isn't my preference. My bagel, on the other hand, was quite good. It had a nice chew, and the green chile cream cheese added a pleasant tang, though I didn't get any real spice from either the jalapeño or the green chiles. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again for the bagels, but probably not for the coffee. The bagel was tasty and satisfying, but I wish it had a little more heat. The pecan flavor in the latte was nice, but it was so sweet that it overpowered the coffee completely.

Yelp
Bagels are on the smaller side, would get this for breakfast over lunch. Pretty quick service they definitely make to order. Lots of booth and table seating but not cleaned. I got the turkey gouda for a healthier option. The bagel over toasted for my liking but the filings were very fresh. I would get the hot breakfast bagel sandwich next time, or the snickerdoodle bagel also caught my eye. Portions are a little small so we stopped by another place for a second lunch

Yelp
When I tell you that this staff work HARD to get your food out in a timely manner while providing excellent service. These guys were an absolute unit and pushing out bagel sandwiches like it was their true calling. It's a little pricey but their bagel sandwiches are so big and filling that it's absolutely worth it. Be prepared for a line if you come on the weekend since it's so popular but don't worry, the line moves pretty quickly.

Yelp
Always a solid breakfast spot! Another "local ", big chewy bagels of any flavor you could imagine and multiple cream cheese flavors to slather on it, or make a sandwich with! Multiple sandwiches selections all looking tasty! Decided on one of the monthly special called the Spiked bagel (I think) egg, sausage on jalapeno cheddar bagel with hot honey! It was delicious! Just enough heat in the honey, enough crunch on the bagel with a tasty egg all fresh and hot! Love the glass cases of bagels and cream cheese choices w/ a few cheese cake choices as well. We ate in, counter order/pay number system. Everyone nice and welcoming, comfortable booth seating, and a cute lil coffee area in the back. Nice patio seating and pet friendly. Parking can be challenging, but manageable, and well worth it:)
google avatar

Yelp
I came by for breakfast, but I was really hungry so I ordered a more heft sandwich from their monthly specials. It came with a fried chicken cutlet, spinach, aoili, and mozzarella. It came out incredibly fresh and was quite tasty. I did order it without cheese as I don't like the flavor, but it still ended up coming out with cheese on it. I was too hungry to wait for them to make a new one however. In total, the bagel sandwich plus a drink and bag of chips start at $15. Another note is that they charge customers a 3% credit card fee which I found out only after looking at my receipt. There aren't any signs up letting you know ahead of time nor did the server say anything.

Yelp
Sooo goood! The bagels were perfect!! I was missing my NY bagels. This was just as good!
google avatar

Yelp
I noticed the owner Shelby replied to my review but Gave no details just vague insults. My details were clear. The gun carrier barely had his gun clamped down with a snap and in some cases when busy was brushing up on people as he was bussing tables. If you feel it necessary to have your employees to be armed what does that say about your establishment?. Be responsible and safe. Have him strap the gun down more and throw his shirt Over it so some kid doesn't grab it. It's a family eatery. Great bagels:)

Yelp
Bagels beach. What more can you ask for? The Galveston Bagel Company offers a wide range of bagels, cream cheese, and bagel sandwiches. Decent amount of street parking and ample amount of seating (indoor or out). Staff was friendly, food was fresh and flavorful. Knocking a star because they didn't have plain? Was told the wait would be 30minutes... which hey I get! Popular item but I kind expected them to atleast have plain.

Yelp
About 20 days ago, we ordered food from this place and found a strand of hair inside. I reached out through their Instagram account right away and asked for a refund. They said they would take care of it -- but since then, they've completely ignored every single message. Not only was the food disappointing, but the customer service has been even worse. At this point, if I could give zero stars, I genuinely would. It's unbelievable to charge such high prices and then refuse to stand behind your own product. I've been more than patient, but being ignored for almost three weeks over something this basic is unacceptable. I would strongly recommend thinking twice before ordering from here.

Yelp
Delicious bagels and chia. Service was quick and friendly. We sat outside with our dogs and enjoyed the great weather. Definitely recommend this place for a quick delicate breakfast.

Yelp
Everyone was so nice here! They helped us a lot with ordering and we got a bunch of different ones to try different things from the menu. My sister is obsessed with this place and I get it. It's simple and delicious! The bagels are great and the prices especially if it's a meal with crispy waffle French fries is pretty reasonable! Would recommend!! Highly recommend the lox and snickerdoodle
google avatar

Yelp
That was a nice surprise! Galveston has never had a bagel shop or if they have I missed it growing up. I got the onion and chive flavor with the chive sour cream and they were both pretty good. I wish the bagel was doughier as in more middle but for the price point and flavor it was really good. My husband got the spicy breakfast sandwich and that was spicier than we expected which is really great because it's not always like that. Service was amazing and the girl working at the front counter was on it. She was taking orders and making orders and delivering orders. Parking around 10am was easy and in front and if not, there were spots along the street and across the street. The hash brown was perfectly made and also delicious. Overall a really great breakfast and full of locals.
google avatar

Joanna C.

Yelp
We wanted to come here after driving by in the afternoon and seeing how crowded it was. First of all, it's a very casual breakfast place, and it has a cute and family friendly feel! The food is a bit on the pricey side if you're ordering sandwiches. One thing to note is that you had to order your specialty coffee drinks on one side and the food on the other, but considering it was super busy, that's probably why they did that. I had the Breakfast Egg Sammy with sausage and American cheese over a cinnamon and raisin bagel. I should have asked them to toast the bagel, a little bit more because my sandwich was a little cold. And the bagel was not as sweet as I'm typically used to from other bagels spots. I will have to try it again to make sure it was just not a one off type of experience.

Yelp
if your in galveston for any period of time you have to stop by here for the best bagel sandwiches in town!!! my wife got their hot mess and i got the bacon egg & cheese bagels (both on an asiago bagel - bc they sold out of the jalapeno cheddar bagels) [they stop making bagels at noon so you wanna make sure to get here before they sell out!] can i be honest... THE SERVICE IS INCREDIBLE HERE!!! I'M COMING BACK TOMORROW JUST BECAUSE OF HOW NICE EVERYONE IS HERE!! & the food... its actually INSANE!!! The hashbrowns, so good & the bagels were incredible!!! cant wait to come back the ambiance is totally family friendly!!! definitely a place to stop by on the way to the beach!
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
This place had great bagels and you could order coffee at a different counter in the restaurant, which was good. It was a nice place to get a quick and delicious breakfast before a start to the day at the beach. The service was friendly and fast the place itself was really small but cozy. It's a place worth going back to.

Aaron M.

Yelp
Too much hole, not enough bagel for me. Feeling conned a bit. For the price, I'd expect at least double the bagel I received.
google avatar

Ronnie R.

Yelp
We're always on the lookout for a good bagel place, and it looks like Galveston has a great one! It's an unassuming spot (always the best kind), more reminiscent of a burger joint than a bagel place (spoiler alert: we were told it use to be a burger joint). The staff were super friendly, efficient, and patient with us first timers (Thanks, Stone!) For me, bagels are not just flavor, but texture. These were beautiful, dense, with just the right amount of chew. The flavors (Onion & Garlic, Asiago, Sesame, Snickerdoodle) were nice and balanced, not too weak, not overpowering, just the right amount of goodness to know what you're eating. We paired our selections with the Spicy Jalapeño CC and Honey Cinnamon CC (for the Snickerdoodle), both excellent compliments to these delicious bagels. Also check out their coffee/espresso bar in the back because they know what they're doing too! Will definitely make it a regular stop when we're in Galveston. Keep up the awesome work, GBC!!

Yelp
blueberry bagel with the blueberry cream cheese was great. had real blueberries in it tasty.

Yelp
We have found our new lunch spot - and are obsessed!! First of all, maybe most importantly, customer service. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Secondly, the prices are fair for what you get. And lastly, what you get is the best bagel spot around! The everything bagel is amazing, and we love the Asiago, onion and garlic, jalapeño cheddar bagel, and more! The bacon egg and cheese sandwich is my wife's go-to, while I get the club sandwich. As you can see in the photo, it's packed with fresh meats.. and I mean packed! And fresh! There's not a single negative about this place! You must make it a point to stop at Galveston Bagel Co asap!! They also have a cute coffee shop inside which makes great coffees, and an adjacent smash burger spot that we love as well!! Keep up the great work! You now have lifelong, loyal (and obsessed!) fans!!
google avatar

Neha S.

Yelp
I love this place for breakfast! I've been here a couple of times, and the bagels themselves are always super yummy. I most recently got the onion and garlic bagel, which I really liked. I prefer the jalapeño cream cheese, but this time I got the roasted green chili cream cheese, and my qualm was that it didn't taste much different than regular cream cheese, so would definitely go back for the jalapeño cream cheese. The ambiance is super cute and quaint, and I like that they have an outdoor seating area. The service is also super quick, and the people behind the counter are incredibly friendly.
google avatar

Alicia K.

Yelp
Delicious bagels in a really popular cafe. Music was kind of 70s vibe and not too loud, counter service was very friendly, house coffee were weak like colored water, although the server did offer to add a shot of espresso. Almond milk cappuccino was okay, but I should have stopped her before she dumped all the milk in after the foam. I did ask for foam and not a lot of milk. Our bagel sandwiches were delicious, and the spicy jalapeño cream cheese was great, even with pickled peppers instead of fresh chopped.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
Alrighty, I can confidently say this spot is a win after visiting three times during our four day Galveston trip. I've tried the bacon, egg & cheese (American, provolone & pepper jack) breakfast sandwich on plain bagel, jalapeño cheddar bagel, croissant, and focaccia. As well as the triple chocolate cake. My top pick is the croissant sandwich, but that's completely due to personal preference. All were super yummy! The focaccia wasn't classic focaccia, more of an herbed country loaf. But it was very tasty nonetheless. The bacon is always crispy -- perfection. The wait is usually super speedy. However, be prepared to wait a little longer on holidays and during peak hours. We came on New Year's Eve and spent quite some time waiting for our order to be prepped, but the employees were super generous and accommodating. A+++ customer service! We will come back every time we're in Galveston without a doubt.

Yelp
With a friendly staff and a ton of options, this hidden gem is worth digging for near Rosenberg street. Nestled next to the infamous Silk Stocking district, this breakfast and sandwich and coffee joint will sate your hunger before your morning commute or help tame your hangover after enjoying the beach all weekend. With a step above a hole in the wall vibes, don't expect cloth napkins and table linens. But the staff will make sure you are taken care of.

Alicia M.

Yelp
Bagels were great. The hot mess was heavy but delicious. Next time I aim to try a bagel with cream cheese only!
google avatar

Shane M.

Yelp
I've gone to this location about once a week since moving to the island. I absolutely love Galveston Bagel Company. I always order 3 sides of egg whites and 3 everything bagels. The portion size of egg whites are proper and the price is very reasonable. I am bodybuilder/athlete and eating out and especially eating clean while eating out comes with challenges, usually hidden additives such as oil/butter, unnecessarily high prices and small portions. Galveston Bagel Company is refreshing, down right awesome, as they are reasonably priced and are not attempting to take advantage of fitness oriented people. Their bagels are excellent! The staff is always friendly. And the location is very clean. I highly recommend Galveston Bagel Company. Thank you guys! I will see you again and again.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
They gave us free bagels when we walked in! So cool! I got the hot mess breakfast sandwich and I've never eaten anything like it before. The egg was very fresh and well made, and the bagel was so soft. They had an artist outside painting the front of the building when we left. Very good place.

Craig W.

Yelp
Bagel was served cold. Cheese wasn't even slightly melted on my bagel and the place was freezing.
google avatar

Bailey M.

Yelp
2 years ago, they were my favorite bagels on the island. Now, they may be my favorite bagels, period! And yes, I've had many bagels in New York and Boston. They must have recently changed something to their plain bagels, cause they're so light and yeasty - delicious! Not as cheap as a NY bodega bagel, but worth it. I'm a plain Jane and love the classic bagel and plain cream cheese, but have tried a number of their bagel sandwiches and more savory options and have always been on point. Go check out my raving review for MACIES, their burger truck, too - this whole place never fails.
google avatar

Marjorie S.

Yelp
I ordered online via the toast app and didn't realize that immediate pickup is about 40 min wait so hubby went inside to see if they can go ahead and start the order even though it hasn't come through the system yet. They were very accommodating and assisted us. Note to self, will do the scheduled pick up or order in person instead lol! We had to the Pelican island and strawberry bagel. I've also orders the French toast bagels to go before and everything is delicious. Everyone is so friendly and the atmosphere here is great. Love, love! Highly recommend! We drove to the island today just to pick up breakfast- yeah it's worth it!! Trying a lox bagel next time!!

Kerianne V.

Yelp
Wow this was great. I ordered the garlic and onion bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese. My only regret is not ordering cream cheese on it. The place was packeddddd and considering the line we didn't have to wait too long for the bagels. I would definitely go back. These firefighters all ordered a specialty blueberry bagel and it seemed so good I have to go back to try it.
google avatar

Yelp
In town for work and we randomly come across this local spot. Staff is super nice and I highly suggest ordering the bagels and lox. The food came out fast and it was very tasty. Inside this location is secondhand coffee Lab. Order the churro latte which has cinnamon in it. It's a great drink over ice and the staff there is super nice as well.

Yelp
Service is excellent ! The place can get very busy but it's worth the wait. The bagels are amazing. Food is very fresh and delicious !

Yelp
Good breakfast spot if you are in the mood for something quick and delish. 10/10 recommend. I had the jalapeño cheddar bagel with bacon and gouda.
google avatar

Emma B.

Yelp
A little expensive for a bagel place. It's going for more of a sit down vibe, than grab and go bagels. Cool spot though, it looks like they have a smashburger food truck in their extended patio too. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito more than the breakfast bagel. Good tortilla, nice meaty bacon.
google avatar

Courtney Ann R.

Yelp
Finally got the chance to stop in at Galveston Bagel Company they have plenty of outdoor seating & a giant coffee bar. We got the lox and if was so good and fresh & honestly shareable. Everything came out fast and the employees were really nice! Can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
Love this place! Just wish there weren't flies everywhere! The everything bagel is so good! It's light and fluffy and has just enough flavor!

Yelp
Loved the bagels. Great spot in Galveston for a quick breakfast. We for the breakfast sandwich's and some bagels with cream cheese. Highly recommend if you love bagels.

Yelp
My first time at Galveston Bagel Company won't be my last time. Such delicious bagels ands coffee. I love the lox bagels which were piled high with lox. Their breakfast sandwiches are so delicious.

Yelp
Picked up some bagels Togo to have in our rental. Really liked the option to place our order online and pick it up. Construction made it hard to get to but don't miss out.

This is a local business that has some really solid bagels! I discovered their food truck while at the Galveston's Own Farmers Market last year, and they've since moved to their own storefront. I'm a fan of their Snickerdoodle bagel, and the schmears are fantastic. Honestly I could eat the schmears by themselves. I appreciate that they do online ordering and that the pick up process is pretty easy. I'd recommend if you're looking for a quick breakfast while in town!

Yelp
I really enjoy this place! Usually I get an everything bagel with onion and chive cream cheese. Service has always been fast. There is also plenty of seating available and I personally feel like it would be a very nice place to get some work done. I'm docking a star bc I got the avocado bagel sandwich once and it wasn't my favorite, it was really lacking flavor. I would stick to a classic bagel flavor of your choice + cream cheese! You can't go wrong with that pairing.

Yelp
Such a cute family-owned business! The bagels and coffee were absolutely delicious, the service was excellent, and the patio was super dog-friendly. A perfect spot for a relaxed bite with your pup!

Yelp
Breakfast bagel sandwiches that are delicious and consistent! We had breakfast from there every morning for our trip to Galveston!
