I will say the staff was polite and the facilities were clean, while I was there for a four day conference recently. One of the main drawbacks is simply the lack of restrooms and lack of space. The convention I attended ended up having to have some of the presentations at the San Luis resort and Hilton hotel. Walking there isn't a drag, if you have the proper shoes, and they did provide a shuttle, but it was never clear where it was and what time it would pick up people to take you to the other two locales, making walking the most efficient way to get from place to place.
There were a lack of vending machines and the "store" that opened was at 11 a.m. during the middle of presentations I was attending. I think if there were more drink options, be it coffee, a soda machine, or something else, with snacks for those long conference days, it would help sustain your attention span. There are restaurants down the street, which you are encouraged to attend, but I feel that sometimes a restaurant is a bit too much, and I would have preferred the convenience of say a nutrigrain bar, had there been a vending machine.
I think for this convention center to stay successful, it will need to continue partnering up with the San Luis resort and Hilton hotel, while adding small amenities, so that people don't start having conferences at the hotels, rather than the conference center.
