Theme park by the pier. Very little shaded area and can be hot during summer. Get a day pass to enjoy the rides. Putting 4 star as some of the rides were under maintenance mid- may. Food and ice cream shop inside.

Google
We went on a Wednesday evening. It was not busy! We had a blast! The downside was the biggest coaster was closed and 4 other kids rides. As a mom of 3, my little kids did not enjoy since their rides were not up and running. Also, several of the food and drink places we closed down too! Definitely disappointed since we had just spent over $100 to go on the pier

The place is small but the scenery is perfect. Ticket prices are high considering the number of rides. I do not recommend buying a $7 family rides ticket. That one is a real scam. It looks like you can ride in all the rides that are included in the list, but practically, you can choose only one.

Google
Mid experience. I paid about $40 to just walk the pier. It should be FREE!!!! Everything is over priced and there’s not a lot of rides. Which is expected! I know! But $40 for nothing. No thank you. Glad I did it but wouldn’t do it again!

We had an incredible time exploring over Memorial Day weekend with family and fellow veterans. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, making it a great spot to celebrate and unwind together. Pleasure Pier was just a short walk from our Airbnb, so it was a must-visit during our stay. It didn’t disappoint. Even though we didn’t go on any of the rides ourselves, they looked like a lot of fun—definitely thrilling and perfect for anyone seeking a bit of excitement. The energy from the crowd and the sounds of laughter and excitement added to the experience, even from the sidelines. One of the highlights was the food area located toward the back of the pier. We grabbed some delicious ice cream and a giant turkey leg while taking in the beautiful waterfront view. It was the perfect spot to relax, enjoy the breeze, and people-watch. Overall, it was a great way to spend the weekend—good food, great company, and a fun environment. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area, especially with friends or family. Whether you’re there for the rides or just to soak up the atmosphere, it’s definitely worth checking out

Google
The pier has a modern vibe, which is unexpected for a historic place. I was a bit bummed that they charge $12 per adult just to walk through the amusement park. But hey, if you’re a kid or someone who loves rides, it’s still a great place to spend a few hours!

Google
We had a pleasant visit to the pier on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't too crowded and the wait for entry or for the attractions was never more than a 5 minutes. The food is WAY overpriced but you expect that in a place like this, and the views are SPECTACULAR! Entry cost just under $100 for three adults, and you can complete your visit in 4 hours or less, leaving Ome ty of time to hit the nearby gift shops or the beach.

Google
It's a small fun place in Galveston. We got there right when it opened and spent about an hour and a half there. Kids were able to ride all the rides that were opened at the time. The wristband price was decent for the activities though we did purchase it as part of one of those city packages. We would come back next time if we're visiting Galveston with friends and family that hasn't been to Pleasure Pier.

Yelp
A small but mighty beach pier in Galveston. Comparing it to other piers I have been to, this one was the smallest. Although, they have a nice ride selection, ranging for all types of age groups. They have the thrills and the chills. It was a windy forecast during my visit, so unfortunately the swings were closed for the day. The prices are on the expensive side, and you have to pay for a wristband even if you aren't participating in any of the attractions (just to enter). I hadn't seen that at a pier before. They also have lots of fun carnival games and a great trade-in system for their prizes. It's not very difficult to win something. Their food is pretty typical to amusement park food: hot dogs, nachos, cotton candy, ice cream, etc. Overall, a very fun time! Great for the entire family.

Yelp
Nice experience and maybe my last time, the time going a couple of the rides was out and one of the main ride was the ferris wheel which is all the way in back of the pier. summer time can be brutal so come prepared to wait, try no to get sunburned there is really no shade on this pier, i wanted to take my kids here for a special weekend and i wasn't impressed after spending couple hundred dollars there was not many rides for kids at all maybe about a hand full but a couple of them made us dizzy most go around rides. please see their website for the list of rides they have available and i would call ahead to make sure if any rides are shut down. our favorite ride was the water ride and kids loved the swing ride which is near the entrance. they did have some arcades and some games to win prizes. We did enjoy the view with bench seats at the very end of the pier. the concession stands was a bit over priced, a small popcorn was near 10$ which was horrible and shouldn't be that much and no refills or souvenir for popcorn, and drinks was expensive as well, just overall we just waited to leave to snack and eat something its not worth it. i did like some parts of this place is does have really good vibe but can do better in some areas.

Yadira R.

Yelp
Such a cute and family friendly spot with a lot of history behind it. We came in for vacation and got the chance to enjoy the pier and the view. This area was recently hit by a hurricane so a lot of the ride weren't open yet. However the people were friendly and the weather was great! You have to pay to go in which the bracelet is valid all day so we went during the day and then again at night. You do have to pay extra for the rides snd you can decide that at any moment. This entire area is owned by the Landrys so if you have a membership you get a discount. Overall is was a nice and unique experience for my family.

Christian C.

Yelp
For the price, Pleasure Pier is an absolute must when making a visit to Galveston. It's $30 for an all day/all ride pass which is extremely reasonable. They have a bunch of very fun rides available for the kids and plenty of fun carnival games too. I would recommend eating elsewhere before visiting though. The food and drinks are overpriced (obviously) and nothing to write home about. But if your visits to Galveston aren't frequent, then visiting Bubba Gump's isn't a horrible idea. All of the staff have been really cool every time we've visited too. My biggest tip would be to arrive late afternoon to avoid being out in the sun for too long. The sunset, cooler temperatures, and atmosphere during that time makes the visit much more memorable and enjoyable.

Corey D.

Yelp
Always a great time hanging out on the seawall, going to the beach, letting the kids play at pleasure pier, and taking a stroll through various bars and restaurants in the area. If you have a chance to go, please do stay as close as you can to the Pier as it makes for the best photo opportunities and is the epicenter of most of the hustle and bustle of the seawall area.

Ada C.

Yelp
What a fun place to go with kids! Buy the all day ride passes to get your money's worth. You know better that your kids can play nonstop! The entire Pleasure Pier experience with my 3 and 6 year old girls was great despite a minor accident in which the little sis riding on a bumper car with dad got her face banged against the rubber safety bar, leading to a heavy nose bleeding. She was taken to the first aid room immediately which I really appreciated, but the first aid room got nothing more than bandages and gauze, not even ice packs *face palm* Anyways we had a great time!

Klemens T.

Yelp
Came here for the first time with my family. We bought family pack for $100 all you can ride. Where I come from, that's cheap. They don't too many rides, but most are fun. If you're into riding the same rides multiple times then you'll enjoy it here. If you don't get the all day pass then you end up spending a few dollars per person per ride and that might be more costly depending how much you ride. My family and I had a blast. We're not used to a large pier with rides and food. The beach in general is pretty disgusting lol. Overall, pricey, but it's still enjoyable especially for my family and I. Lots of street parking and they also have a private lot across the street.

Stella B.

Yelp
If you want to be surrounded by screaming children in long lines this is the place to go. We waited an hour to ride the ferris wheel for it to just leak water on us the entire time. Beyond the aging rides, the views are pretty amazing from both the ferris wheel and texas star swing ride. Pelicans also perch near the pier so we got the closest view of them waiting in line.

Michael K.

Yelp
Waste of time. Waste of money. Too many visitors and not enough entertainment for the $.

Vuthy Y.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst experience my family and I had while vacationing in Galveston. Majority of the rides did not work and worst of all everything and I mean everything was overpriced. I never hated a place so much. 2 out of 10 do not recommend.

HsiaoCheng W.

Yelp
Some of the staff suck. Lazy as heck. Like when I bought my ticket the person shoved the braclets out and turned off her mic and ignored me pretending she couldn't hear me when I tried to ask her something. Loser. Some of the rides had long lines. Like the Ferris wheel. And log ride. Note you can't ride the Ferris wheel as a single rider. You must go with someone they told us. So my daughter couldn't ride it. If you got a single child I suggest you buy a ride pass for yourself even if you get dizzy on rides. The single ride tickets are expensive ranging from $7.50 for extreme rides, $6.50 for family rides and $5.50 for kiddie rides. I've posted a pic. As for food and drinks you can buy a $10 refillable souvenir tumbler that's $1 to refill. Pic of food menu attached too. Photo of you on the ride is $20. Expensive given price of ride bracelet.

James A.

Yelp
Because of the weather, we weren't able to go during the night. By the time, I stopped by in the morning, it was yet to open. It did give an interesting perspective...reminded me a bit of the Santa Monica Pier, except smaller. Would like to come back here for further review in the future during the busy season.

Tanja N.

Yelp
It's one of those attractions you just have to do. Would probably not go back, but loved it while there. My daughter and I visited in June 2023, it was very hot, so we made sure we entered as early as possible. The lines were pretty long, but staff was knowledgeable and was doing the best to accommodate everyone during the process. It would be nice thought if the entrance area had some shade. We stayed for an hour and a half, hit some rides and escaped the sun for some fun across the street.

Guy H.

Yelp
I remember when this was a hotel! Sometime in the 1960s, an entrepreneur built a modern hotel on a pier over the water. By today's standards it was just a nice hotel but, in the 1960s, Galveston it was all the rage. Known as the Flagship it survived until a hurricane took it out in 2008. After sitting for some time, the economic development board in cooperation with investors created the Pleasure Pier. An entertainment park that harkens back to Galveston's 1900 heyday. It is comprised of an assortment of amusements and rides including a couple, giving you a great view of the Gulf. Towards the entrance are a couple of popular restaurants, souvenir shops etc. I'm glad they saved the substantial cement pier that everything sits on and continued the "Getaway "tradition of Galveston for another generation or two. Definite go if you are on the Texas coast.

Angelica A.

Yelp
We got the all day passes and the 5-d shark ride. Some rides where close, some the staff didn't seem like they wanted to be there. The rides we got on were good,

Noah R.

Yelp
Good place, but, some employee threw out my little brothers drink on the cyclone and he said : "Oh YoU dOn'T hAvE a LiD oN yOuR cUp!" Stupid man.

Johan J.

Yelp
Best experience of my entire existence every single thing was good but over praised tickets for one person.

Eric S.

Yelp
Have you ever wonder what it must have been like for pirates to board your ship and steal all your booty? Well wonder no more! You can experience it for real on this Historic Pleasure Pier... Twenty bucks for the old folks to walk and watch the grandkids ride - so a quick 40 out the gate. If the kids want to ride, a parent has to have an expensive all access pass. Two parents, two children, two non-riding grandparents and boy were we ever fleeced. Short rides, one attendant working four or five rides, forcing much waiting and turmoil. This is what it must have been like backstage at a P Diddy concert.

Teisha V.

Yelp
We came here, because it was something to do. We paid about $12.50 per person to just walk around, which did not last long. The guy working the ticket booth was unprofessional. He was talking rude under his voice, but you could hear him on the speaker. I looked at him and said what you say? He looked started and said oh I didn't say anything. My husband looked at him and reminded him he had an ear piece on that we could hear. The pier had a few rides and food places that were basic. They have Bubba Gump shrimp restaurant as well that I think you should go to without having to pay a ticket. And had bumper cars, a roller coaster, carousel a lot of Carnival prize games, but it didn't take us more than 30 minutes to see it all. They definitely shouldn't charge people to walk on the pier or not this much anyway. It was okay, we came saw we saw it and it was nothing to write home about to be honest

Michaela P.

Yelp
Teens wanted to come check it out while on vacation. First turn off as a parent that doesn't want to do rides is they charge you $11 just to walk on the pier; an all day pass is $27 which includes all the rides. Several rides were closed, wanted to do the splash ride, but oped not to as you will get soaked through and through. Better wear quick drying cloths. To my surprise a bottle of was not overpriced, like some other places. Did not eat anything, as we were going out afterwards. Did not play any of the hoops, dart throwing or the like games as they were $3 a pop. Nope, not going to happen. Guess it was just not our thing. Oh well.

Kay M.

Yelp
Very rude employee upon entrance into the Pier. Will never go back!!!!!!work on Customer Service!!!

Danielle P.

Yelp
I was in town for a friends wedding in Houston, so we decided to spend some time at the beach. We rode around took pics of murals and walk quite a bit for the views. No shopping I have enough touristy stuff for a lifetime. Its approx one hour drive from Houston area. We didn't have any traffic which was a wonderful surprise. Parking was easily found on the street or on paid parking areas. I wasn't really crazy about the beach, it had a horrible smell and people were in the water....ain't no way. Issa a no for me. PERIODT. Covid virus and bacterial infections going around, Enuff said. Tip: Due to Covid the bathrooms are in the carnival area, so you don't have to pay the fee to be on the pier. So we took advantage of the views, no rides for us. They have all the carnival food and rides that you would expect. The rides are overpriced, I heard Fridays they have specials, check the website to verify information. I did enjoy my beautiful day of being outside and being alive!

Courtney M.

Yelp
Another expensive tourist attraction of Mr.TF. Paid $50 to enter and one all day pass but most of the rides were down for maintenance.

Brandon Y.

Yelp
Phone was stolen at this trashy Galveston Island pleasure park... The staff ask you to put your belongings in a bin as you ride the rides...don't. Pick pocketers and pan handlers are all over this place. The staff won't help you locate your belongings, and there are no cameras. Cop said this happens multiple times a day at Pleasure Pier. Avoid this place, and go to Kemah Boardwalk or save some money, and go to Six Flags.

Hal S.

Yelp
We came for Spring Break. After paying for day passes for everyone, THEN we got inside and learned that many of the rides were closed because of "high winds." This information should be made clear BEFORE charging for entry. Quite a bit of money wasted because of this. Definitely not pleased.

Robert P.

Yelp
Charge $12 to just walk on the pier. Food over priced and employees were rude. Plus the one ride i would buy a pass to ride was closed and no notices posted advising people before they bought the ride passes.

Katelynn S.

Yelp
Memories can't be bought so make sure you make the best of them! We absolutely love pleasure pier and as you can see my kiddo has no complaints. There is so many festivities to do on the pier for all ages. The white sand beach of Galveston is like walking on baby power and something you must experience for yourself. Coming from California to Texas id say I choose Galveston any day!

Atul S.

Yelp
Good looking and long enough pier with plenty of rides which are open from Thursday to Saturday only but why entry fees to walk on the pier?? Getting into rides can be chargeable but entry fees to just walk doesn't makes any sense. Plenty of restaurant across the road of pier too. Our hotel was reasonable and so close to pier. Even we had a great pier view from our hotel patio on 4th floor. Looks great from far and also near. Would have easily recommended this place but don't want folks to spend money just to see it. Even rides prices are on the costly end. Visit santa Monica in CA instead.

Joseph Fowler F.

Yelp
Awesome place great ride I had a BORTHDAY PARTY HERE, it was epic with lots of fun time my fav ride is the shark coaster in which I rode it 7 times and became very dizzy and fun time. If you want to go bussing food for expensive price enjoy

Courtney B.

Yelp
Okay, this is not a review, but more of a post of pointers for your trip. I feel that a review on a venue like this is highly subjective because each experience is unique. So, I've got some pointers, "I wrote a song about it. Like to hear it? Hear it go!" -The great Calhoun Tubbs 1-look for discount weekend events ahead of your trip. *case in point, this past weekend was a boyscout weekend where bands for the Pier were $17.00 for scouts (payment for this had to be done ahead of time online). 2- If you plan to go to eat, do so at Bubba Gump to get your parking validated so you don't have to pay the $10.00 to park in the lot across from the Pier. 3-If you get to the Pier at 8PM or later and would like to park on the street, you can do so for free as it is a 2 hour time limit for street parking and the Pier closes at 10PM. 4-Buy your 5D experience band when you buy your band for the Pier so you can save $2.00. This applies to unlimited ride bands only. Also if you do more than one 5D experience, buy the combo pass, its cheaper. 5-Military discount is available for bands and for souvenirs in the Pelican shops. 6- Call ahead to determine what if any rides aren't working as the site is not always updated. 7- if you want to walk on the Pier, it's $10.00 if you are not going to 'pay to play' 8- Kids 2 years and younger are free of charge for entrance to the Pier (clearly not by themselves....that's called child neglect people).

Joel A.

Yelp
We went here during our stay at crystal beach I had gone here as a child a lot and being able to bring my child here was just a plus and a lot of nostalgia met during so! Will go again everyone was friendly and safe and checked every child to make sure they met hight requirements! And all the rides I had to ride my half an inch to short child with! So that's nice!

Lee D.

Yelp
I love this place, my wife and I and the grandkids always have a blast! It is a neat accommodation to the beach. We go there every summer. For those griping about the $10 walk on, you could not walk in to Six Flags for free or any other amusement park for free so get over it. For those complaining about rides that are shut down, they have them listed at the ticket booth, so read before you buy. Things break down periodically that's just the way it is. Those complaining about paying to park on the seawall, it's always been that way, get over it. People feel so self entitled today, get over it.

Wanda M.

Yelp
There are many different activities to entertain one while visting Galveston Island. If amusement parks are your thing, then you'll most likely enjoy this smaller 16 ride pier amusement park. They pride themselves on the number of rides taking you above the Gulf of Mexico on the Historic Galveston Island Pleasure Pier. It's very easy to find (I-45 S/Broadway Ave. then right on 25th St. T's right into Pier). Parking consists of Seawall Blvd. parking or the Premium Paid Parking lot next door to Fish Tales restaurant. Street parking is paid by phone and is currently $8 per day and you can change locations along the Seawall throughout the day. Keep in mind ride hours are seasonal so check the hours of operations before making special plans especially in Spring and Fall. Pleasure Pier doesn't have a large number of adult rides, 10 or 11, but their fun. The lines have moved fairly quickly when we've been here. Enjoy a rollercoaster, water ride, cars, chair swings, Galaxy Wheel, Cyclone, Sky Shooter and more. We particularly enjoy the swing rides flying over the water especially at night. If I remember correctly there's only 4 or 5 rides for little ones under 42". Pricing is based strictly on two height requirements of 48" and above or below 48". Four types of passes can be purchased: 1) An Individual All Day Pass, 2) Family All Day Ride Pass, 3) Individual Ride TICKETS or 4) Pier Walk On Pass. If you're staying most of the day then the Individual All Day Unlimited Ride Pass is $26.99 (above 48") or $19.99 (under 48"). Family of 4 All Day Passes are available as well. If you're only interested in riding one or a few rides then Individual Ride TICKETS starts at $4 but requires a Pier Walk On Pass of $10 (over 48", $8 under 48") and $7 for Seniors (ID required). A Pier Pass Walk On are for those who want to enjoy the Pier (stay with the family) but not participate in the rides. Great for grandparents, pregnant ladies, disabled folks, or just check out the Pier. The Pier Pass Walk On is NOT required for any of the All Day Passes. You can always change your mind and upgrade your pass to participate in the rides. There are several Midway Games where you most likely walk away with a prize, food vendors and souvenirs available. Bubba Gumps is right next door for lunch or dinner as well as many restaurants and bars along Seawall Blvd. Lieutenant Dan's (next door) is great for cocktails afterwards. You do NOT need to purchase a Pier Pass to visit Bubba Gumps or Lieutenant Dan's. Again, only inside the Pleasure Pier Amusement Ride area if you're just hanging out or buying ride tickets only. Fun spot to spend a few hours or the day/evening enjoying the rides, games, family and friends.

Carla A.

Yelp
My niece, her friends and I came here for their birthday. We had such a great time. I was disappointed that they still charged all that money and at least 4-5 of their rides were down. However, even on a hot Texas Summer day, the wind off the gulf made it a pleasant experience. I'm sure I'll be back to take my kids there because its a really fun place to be. Also, the rides seem to be trustworthy.

Cristie T.

Yelp
It was OK at best. I Can see how it would be fun for younger kids that were just tall enough to ride the rides, but for two teenagers and two adults it was just "OK". None of us felt it was worth what it cost to spend an hour on the pier.

Lacey D.

Yelp
Would not recommend most the rides were shut down only had 3 adult rides to ride. I would recommend buying the unlimited pass and I wouldn't recommend going back.

Heidi F.

Yelp
We just moved from PA to the Houston area. We just made our first trip to Galveston this past week. We stayed in a local campground and were able to do many day activities while we were there. It's such a beautiful place. We cannot wait to go back.

Darlene B.

Yelp
Tip- If you ride Pirates Plunge It's a water ride you get soaked you may not be allowed on the other rides wet so it had to be the last ride or you may need changing clothes Immediately. I gave it a 4 my son had fun. Pros -fun rides -you can reenter the same day - kids under 2 free - food available Plus restaurant -gift shop -tons of security -photos available must purchase -nice restrooms -cons parents can not accompany their children without tickets due to limited space that's why I prefer kemah better. -phones and other possessions are not allowed on rides but there's cubbies to hold your items but there strict they will stop the ride if they catch you with your phones. I understand liability purposes. -some rides my close before closing time that's not cool we enter 1.15 mins before closing lines was long and rides closed early. -no refunds that I know of -not open everyday maybe it will be for summer but not now only weekends

Bret B.

Yelp
This was a fun outing with our 16 yo and her friend. First time we had actually paid admission to ride the rides. It was a lot of fun. No lines today, plenty of sunshine and lots of smiles and laughter. The entry for the girls was $29 with tax for full day pass for all rides. I paid for the $10 pier pass that doesn't include rides. With that pass you can buy rides for approximately $5 each. There were more rides than expected and they were really pretty good. The rides look like what you see at roadside traveling circus but up close look very solid. That is except for the 150' tall swing that looks scary with four little chains holding your chair from flying off the pier at about 75 miles and hour 150' off the Gulf of Mexico. The pier is a good family outing for about $100. Not inexpensive but not too much more than going to dinner and movie.

Taylor S.

Yelp
This is a small but fun park. Their Iron Shark roller coaster is relatively unique - it has a vertical lift hill, which is something you typically only see in launched coasters, and then it sends you into a spaghetti bowl of loops and inversions. Additionally, they also have some other thrill rides such as a Larson loop. Plus, this park is on a beautiful pier where you can see the ships coming in and feel the sea breeze as you enjoy the rides, and the crowds are typically lighter than at a larger amusement park such as Six Flags.

Karen 2.

Yelp
I think this place is cute but not worth the money for the wristband to actually go past the first little bit of the boardwalk. seemed like a rip off. the rides seem pretty cool tho and it's nice how it's right on the water i'll give them that.

Scott L.

Yelp
Meh, not a huge fan of amusement parks. I suppose on a first date, +30 years ago, I may have been impressed, but with the Mrs, 16 year old and her friendo, I was astonished they were not more excited. Glad I'd just bought the $10 pp walk on tickets, but was ASTONISHED at the wait in line on a cool January 1 day with just a few people in line??!! What happens when they're busy? SHEEZE! Also I thought, if the girls want to ride anything, then they can buy the ticket at the ride: WRONG! They need to walk all the way back to the ticket office, stand in line AGAIN, buy the ticket and walk all the way back down the pier to the ride. How stupid, but reason to buy the all inclusive tickets.....if you want to ride more than the Ferris Wheel.

LaPeshaa C.

Yelp
This pier is beautiful and really makes you walk back in time... UNTIL YOU SEE THOSE PRICES! Then you quickly realize these don't the old days anymore baby! Wristbands are $27.99 which isn't bad but if you plan on eating and really enjoying all they have to offer it'll be expensive. The food is not all that good. My nachos only had enough cheese to cover about 5 chips. I was left with a basket FULL of dry tortilla chips. They didn't have any corn dogs at all. The cotton candy was old and it's the stuff you buy in the store but fresh spun. The funnel cakes are great! The fried Oreos are phenomenal! Definitely get those. I wouldn't recommend the frozen drinks on the pier just go to bubba gump for $5 happy hour for entrees and adult beverages instead. The rides here are awesome!! The Texas Star Flyer had me crying like a baby. The Pirates plunge was fun just know you will be SOAKED! The Sea Dragon is a classic thriller too! There's several others. Get the unlimited ride wristband. Just know even if you don't ride you have to buy a walk on pass. Parking sign said $16 but we were only charged $9 which was a relief I hate paying that much for parking! Bring cash for midway games! Watching the sunset here was simply beautiful and at night this place is just as pretty!

Nicolette M.

Yelp
Overpriced and packed, especially when it's cooling off outside. Most of the rides are not even all that, same with the food. Lines are long because they let so many people in. Didn't see a single employee checking wristbands or anything, so who knows if people were just getting on whatever they wanted. It's definitely a great historic site to see and cool thing to check out when in Galveston, but it sucks that you have to still pay even if you aren't even going to ride anything.

Jillian C.

Yelp
Pleasure Pier was the worst attraction in Galveston. I'd go so far as saying that it wasn't a pleasure at all. The first ride we went on, the log one, my group got stuck before the first dip. Two workers came and were asking if we wanted to wait or get off. After our group said that we'd be fine waiting then told us to get off of the "log" one at a time. Afterwards, they asked for our names, numbers and zip codes. I'm assuming this is so they could give us a "refund" but I doubt that call will ever come. It gets worse. The third ride we get on, the Iron Shark, we waited around 45 minutes to go on a 30 second ride. Right before we were supposed to go on the first hill a worker comes and tells us that it's going to be five minutes (this is not an exaggeration, the worker legitimately said this) before the ride actually starts. The last ride we went on that day was the swing one. To make a long story short, we got stuck on the way down. So we hung there for a solid five minutes with cold winds and a slight sprinkle. I know I sound like a Karen, but I will say the ride right across the log one was actually fun. Also, hanging out with your friends in crappy situations does offer good bonding time. Anyways, having 3/4 rides you go on break down is not enjoyable. I'd recommend just going the beach and enjoying nature. Here's a picture of me looking like a wet dog while hanging on the swing. (Phones weren't allowed, but what are they going to do? Kick us out of a place that we don't even want to be at?)

Yelp
Overpriced tourist trap. Luckily we went on a Friday where they have a $14.99 special for unlimited rides so that saved me a bit of money. Unfortunately they do charge just to walk on the pier. The employees there were not friendly at all . Young people who looked bored with their job and don't even take the time to greet you with a simple hello. My daughter is 2 she was able to go on a few rides But there really isn't much for young kids around her age to do. Games & food on the pier was too pricey so after about an hour we left. Overall I'm glad my kids experienced it but I definitely will not be back

Yelp
Not a lot to do for the price. I went in with an ride pass. Only when I got there I found several rides just went in circles and the main rollercoaster had parts where you went upside down. Unless you want me to redecorate the park, it's best I don't ride those. I started on the Farris Wheel. It went on for a lot longer then I thought it would. It was very relaxing and I got some good pictures from it. (All on a different device so I can't post them here right now.) The pirates water shoot was next. I was prepared the be soaked and I was not disappointed. I felt bad for one girl ahead of me though. They wouldn't let her ride because she had a prosthetic leg. She had to stand at the exit and watch all her friends ride. The only other ride I could do was the bumper cars. Literally everything else was for small kids or went in some kind of circle. (The Farris wheel was slow enough not to count.) Ugh. I grabbed a refillable cup, and refilled it once. Then I had fried oreos, not the best I've ever had (it's all in the batter!) But not the worst by far. Over all, I had a fun day despite the money wasted on the ride pass. It might have been worth it if I could have seen the shark movie with it, but alas... maybe next time.

Yelp
As an amusement park enthusiast, I can say my main reason for going is for the moments I can't put into words. I can put my experience at the Pleasure Pier into words. Limited. Pricey. Million dollar view. Honestly, it has 16 TOTAL rides-- only one of those is a roller coaster. Besides the view, the most memorable part was this super awkward stretch where you walk past all the carnival games, trying not to make eye contact with the people working them. All-day passes range from $20-27 per person, depending on how tall you are. If you're not planning to ride you're charged $7-10. Not a lot of bang for you buck. So they've got the curbside appeal down. My four year old saw it, fell in love and asked repeatedly our ENTIRE stay in Galveston when she'd get to go. So, it's got that going for it. It is youthful with a whimsical fun vibe. A huge pier jetting into the water is exactly how you think you'd like to spend an afternoon. Plus, that view. Oh my gosh. Parking is not great. It's super duper limited. There's a Premium Paid Parking Lot directly across from the Pier next to Fish Tales restaurant and there is parking along the Seawall, which you need an app on your phone to pay with. A cool fact is that it is indeed a historic treasure. It was built in the late 1940s as a recreational facility for the military. It was turned over to the city after WW2. After a hurricane in 1961 it became the Flagship Hotel, then the only hotel in the nation built entirely over the water. The hotel was severely damaged in 2008 by a hurricane and in 2012 the Pier was reopened as it is today. It's totally worth seeing. It's memorable and my kids enjoyed it. It's just not worth the price or even close to most fun thing you'll do in Galveston.

Yelp
Great fun for the kids! It was a bit pricey and you do pay even if you aren't going on rides. During this covid time, some rides weren't running but the staff were nice. One girl was running 3 of the little kiddie rides and just rotating around. Bumper cars were fun, the water log ride was a blast! The galaxy wheel was awesome. 150 feet up and a GREAT view!
