I have purchased a King Cake cake from Gambino's Bakery twice now. My fiance and I live in Washington State, but he grew up in Louisiana. He missed King Cake cake the most, so I initially purchased the cake as a birthday surprise. He loved it so much that I bought another the following year. The cake itself is reasonable in price and while shipping can get pricey, the cake arrives very quickly! Usually within two days. I have Celiac disease so I cannot eat it myself, but my fiance assures me that It is very fresh and delicious. Seeing my fiance's beautiful smile made it worth it. Love this bakery.

The past couple months with graduation and birthdays etc I have been helped by coincidence by the most sweetest sales person ever. She helped me out with a birthday cake 1st, then we came back to order a Brother Martin Grad Cake for 80 people in May and today, same lady greeted me by chance for another birthday cake. Ms. Lety is Awesome!! Took the time during grad cake order to go over every detail, she really is great team member!

Update: Gambino’s did issue a refund finally for the messed up cakes. Have to give them credit for making it right. Ordered 2 king cakes to ship to New Jersey. King cakes arrived all torn up. Box they were packaged in was too big and had no arrows pointing up. I’ve shipped king cakes from Randazos and Haydels before with no issues. Order from somewhere else. I tried calling and no answer. I did get a message on social media from their media manager but never anyone from the bakery that could make this right. Ship your king cakes from some other bakery.

I made the mistake (a $60+ mistake) by ordering a king cake from this place. What a DISASTER. I order king cakes for my husband’s birthday every year. This one arrived in a DESTROYED box, and the cake itself was broken into a ton of pieces. I had already hesitated to order from them, despite the glowing reviews, because I think king cakes should arrive decorated. I should have trusted my gut. This didn’t even taste remotely good. It would be like someone handing you a loaf of plain bread and a tub of frosting that comes with canned cinnamon rolls. Gambinos ruined my husband’s birthday with this disaster of a king cake. I would NEVER order from them again.

Love Gambinos, now that we live in Florida we count on Gambinos for a taste of home. We order all of our special occasion cakes and our king cakes. Always delivered fresh and delicious💜 Thank you Gambinos 💜

Gambino’s, please improve your cake shipping process. The cake arrive broken, and on top of that, I didn’t even receive what I ordered. I was supposed to receive a praline cream cheese. The King Cake didn’t contain any cream cheese, just praline. Absolutely unacceptable. It’s 2025—use cardboard under the cakes for stability, after wrapping the cake box in plastic, use shipping paper to prevent movement inside the box. This is basic packaging logic. Do better. 0 stars!!!!

Excellent customer service! My king cake arrived smashed and a mess from shipping, Gambino's was quick to respond and quick to send out another saving my sons 21st birthday. I have tried all different companies king cakes and Gambino's is the best I've ever had. All the others are dry and just not that good. Gambino's is very moist and good flavor, worth the money.

I grew up in LA and absolutely love the King Cakes from Gambino’s! It’s worth every penny to have one shipped and I highly recommend splurging for their Italian Wedding Cake. Most importantly, use every bit of icing and decorative sugar, but don’t bite the baby!

Joe Gambino's Bakery comes through every time. The bakery items are all exquisite, but we all know you're probably there for the doberge cake. Still tastes the exact same as my mom & grandpa remember. This online order I had an issue, 3 days late (last day was on me, first 2 were on FedEX). 83° puddle of cake. Gambino's got me a replacement out in time for Mother's Day, very grateful! Excellent customer service, no hassle Every time I've been in, the staff are very nice and the store is clean with a well presented display case. You may want to order a day early so you can get EXACTLY what you want.

I WILL NEVERRRRR ORDER FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENTS EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!! This was my first time ordering from this bakery. It was requested by the BIRTHDAY CELEBRANT. I called on a Wednesday for a cake needed on Friday. The representative was pleasant. Ordered an almond cake with white icing, pink trim. On Friday, called to pay for cake because friend was picking it up. Called, proceeded to explain the nature of my call and phone disconnected. I called back, asked who I was speaking with-being that it was the same voice. She replied, Vickey. Shares that I called and phone disconnected- this winch said OK later giving an unfelt apology. Paid for cake around 3pm. Store was due to close at 6pm this day. I received a call from my friend stating that they are closed a bit after 5pm! While on the phone receiving info on what occurred, I received another call/ voicemail at about 5:20pm. POWER OUT I WOULD HAVE TO PICK UP CAKE TOMORROW due to power outage. Called the number back spoke with Marsha shared that my friend came to pick up cake and she told me that no one came there...HOW DID HE KNOW THE DOOR WAS LOCKED AND LIGHTS OFF! After assuring her that he was there, she then stated he wouldn't make it back in time due to traffic-he was near at gas station less than block away. She waited and we received cake. So you would think...all is well. The damn cake was wrong. NOT almond cake-yellow cake! NO CANDLES...simply horrible experience!! So had I not called back she would have been gone. They didn't give customers that PAID for their cake time to come and pick up. They could have waited in the damn parking lot - it was daylight. This would have giving customers a chance to return the call. POOR HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I ordered a cake about 2 weeks before my event. I explained to her in detail and showed a picture of how I wanted my cake .The older lady who takes the orders assured me that the cake will look exactly like I showed her . I even sent Editable images to her to make sure they have everything that's needed to make sure my order was correct. Fast forward to the day of to pick up The cake 5hrs before the event , the cake they showed was HORRIBLE AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS EVEN WORSE . They tried to place blame on us because we didn't know they had a SMALL PRINTER and it wouldn't print an image that large in size . The Cake Wasn't worth $163 Dollars . My mother was a customer for over 30 years , we will definitely FIND A NEW BAKERY .

I wish I could give this place zero stars. First of all I ordered from the wrong place, I wish I would've ordered from Randazzlo's. But, I didn't know any better. Anyways, when I received the cake the packaging was in good condition, meaning that the it wasn't damaged in transit. When I opened the box, the flyer said Mardi Gras 2023... it's definitely 2024. The king cake had no cinnamon & no baby. The icing was opened and I only had 1 pack of sprinkles vs the 3. I reached out to the customer service email and of course, I never heard anything back. About a week later, I called them and I was able to get a refund. Hate this place.

They did it again! I ordered my king cake online directly from the bakery and it arrived via FexEx on Saturday. Right on time for Three Kings Day/Epiphany. It looked and smell amazing. I frosted it and my little one decorated it. The king cake melted in my mouth and it is consistently delicious. It is the main reason we order each year since they make quality cakes. They always include a flyer with it that contains the history of the king cake. Always a nice touch. Thank you for the yummy cake all the way in TX.

If you are in the market for a cake for any occasion, Gambino's is a fantastic option. You can order ahead and pick the cake up on that special day and it's so easy and convenient. Even more important, you will have an absolutely delicious cake! I recently ordered a chocolate doberge cake for my brother's birthday, and it was so perfect. The cake is so fresh and so unbelievably good. I can talk about the cake all day but I'd encourage you to buy one and try it because you and everyone who shares in that celebration will for sure enjoy every bite.

We ordered 3 king cakes from Gambino's to be delivered to Los Angeles in time for Fat Tuesday office party. Everything was perfect. The cakes arrived on time Monday afternoon. The communication was also excellent. Gambino's sent us tracking information so we could follow the delivery of the cakes, another email when the cakes had been delivered to our mail room and a separate "Happy Mardi Gras!" email on Fat Tuesday. The cakes were very tasty, too. Gambino's packages the frosting and colored sugar packets separately so the cakes do not get soggy. Everything was simple to apply and the cakes could not have been better. There are a lot of king cake options. This place has been in business 75 years for a reason - they are pros. Thank you Gambino's!

Everyone took one bite and set the cake aside. It tasted like it was made two to three days before; like they repurposed previously made cake mix. Gambino's use to be the place where everyone wanted to go in New Orleans for any kind of cake. based on my experience, Gambino's no longer has the stellar reputation it use to have. It no longer has the quality you expect of food from New Orleans, I will never go here again. I have had store bought two dollar box cake taste better.

I was appalled by this horrific Chocolate and caramel doberge cake. I paid $75 for this and 6 lemon minis which all end up in the trash. The lemon minis tasted almost as if someone was spraying perfume or chemical around it. I've had them before and never have they ever tasted this way. I'm still annoyed !! The cake was stale, clearly very old. The icing was crunchy, and broke as you cut the cake...this clearly was sitting in a case for days. The box was tapped so much I should've known the icing would look like a child wrote it. I will never spend another hard earned dollar here. Also, don't waste your time signing up for emails for the 20% off since they won't allow you to use it unless you place a large online order which was not in the fine print at time of signing up..

New Orleans has some of the best bakeries in the USA. Joe Gs is tops for cookies, cakes and local specialties Doberge cake. Serving NOLA since 1949 this place has provided birthday, retirement, Super Bowl, LSU championship and king cakes for generations. I love sweets.... cookies, cakes, choco covered pretzels, and everything I have had here is 5 star. Value is very good. Skip desert at your fav NOLA restaurant and order out from Joe Gs. It is the real deal!

Excellent King Cakes. I ordered them out of season and they were willing to oblige. I was going to Arkansas after Mardi Gras and wanted to take King Cakes up there. My favorite is the wedding cake / Mascarpone. I love almond filling. Love it. The cakes are moist and perfect,

Great King Cakes and Petite Fours. My wife had to King Cake to take back to home even though it meant having to carry it on the plane. She also got a dozen Petite Fours. Family back home were in heaven when it was shared with them.

Gambinos has gotten over priced. One simple sugar cookie $4. White icing with a few sprinkles. $48 for a dozen. I think not!

Can't go wrong with Gambino's king cake - one the most traditional ones out there that have stood the test of time. That said, it's best to buy them at the bakery in the morning (before they sell out in the afternoon). And it's best to heat your king cake slice for 10sec in the microwave, which will do wonders for moistening/fluffing up the dough and bringing out the flavor. If you eat it cold, it's not going to be as good. If you buy a whole king cake from the bakery, they also give you a mini king cake as lagniappe which is a nice touch. Traditional and cream cheese are the two best king cakes here.

KIKG CAKE REVIEW!!! OMG-DELICIOUS!! The "cake" itself was FABULOUS!! Moist and the flavor was really yummy!! We have been here before and have enjoyed a variety of pastries, very good as well! (I know pics‍) without a doubt, try a King Cake! Oh and you can order one any time of the year from there.

Im getting married soon so I've been doing plenty of cake tastings. Today I had a cake tasting at the Famous Joe Gambinos, now this bakery is well known and I've bought plenty of cakes from them before. But today for my cake tasting !!! I had to leave !! The cake was dry it wasn't moist , I'm like this isn't the same cake that I would normally get. I paid my 30$ and left !! It wasn't even worth it because I literally only nibbled. It was like cardboard. Im highly disappointed!! Even the staff who helped wasn't no help , she literally told me the flavors and walked away. No help at all

Ordering online was very simple. Our king cake arrived quickly and was devoured just as fast! LOL. We miss traveling to New Orleans and are happy to be able to receive Joe Gambino's King Cake thru the mail. Fresh and tasty, just spread the icing and gold, green and purple sugar crystals- put some Fats Domino on the record machine and get the party started! Laissez le bon Temps rouler!

I ordered four (4) cakes online to arrive the day before the event (as recommended by their website). They arrived late and were horribly smushed!!! When I contacted the bakery with my disappointment, I was originally told by Jackie-Sue that I would receive a full refund. Weeks have passed, several messages have gone back and forth, and today, I received a message from Ashley acknowledging that even though there was a "glitch" in their system, she could only offer a partial refund of the shipping. I called to speak with someone in person and was pretty much told that they are not responsible for their product after Fedex picks them up. I'm terribly disappointed in the outcome -- both in the product and the customer service. It was an expensive lesson but one I intend to continue to share.

We ordered a King Cake as we have in previous years and had good service before. We also lived in New Orleans years ago and enjoyed their cakes then. But this time it came all beat up and tasted terrible. It was Praline flavor which I did not order. I called to get it replaced or a refund. The person I talked to had a bad attitude and did not seem to care about losing a steady customer. He defended the way they send the King Cake in transit and was not interested in our satisfaction or the quality of the experience. It was just a defensive and non-helpful attitude. I will not be using them again and have found an alternative in our home area.

Have always loved Gambinos the many years I lived in NOLA. Last year ordered a couple of King Cakes thru a 3rd party. Excellent. Then at thanksgiving ordered some doberge that we picked up to take to our airbnb. Super. This year I ordered direct from Gambinos for delivery to Tallahassee Florida. One looks to be ok but his one was broken into pieces in the box and cant be used for our upcoing celebratioon. I told them and no response Shame.

Gambino's makes THE BEST KING CAKES. There is no substitute. I live in Houston, and unfortunately, even our bakery king cakes are disappointing. Although shipping is a bit pricey, if you want the real deal, it's still worth it to order your cakes from Gambino's. They have a few filling options, like praline, cream cheese, and strawberry. All of the fillings I've tried have been good, but for some reason they no longer offer lemon or blueberry, and those were my two favorites! I keep hoping to see those options again, but no luck so far.

Just received our King Cake that we ordered for a friend's graduation here in Tennessee and this is what we got. Next time I will not order from here. There were no food or fragile labels on the packaging. Thanks for a squishy pile of sticky dough!!!!

My birthday cake sampler was the best way to enjoy all my favorites! The staff was so nice when I told them it was my birthday they game me candles to put on top!

Terrible I ordered a pastry tray and I have never been so disappointed. The tray was a mishmash of chocolate pieces that cost $100.00. I ended just throwing it out! The way it was just thrown together totally a last minute display . I ordered 2 days before and paid online. Gambino's has always been the best but maybe not anymore .

I haven't visited this location yet but for the past couple of years, I've ordered King cakes for my fam in NY and GA from here. They ship nationwide and the cakes always arrive on time. Gambino's recommends the two day delivery. It'll be fresher. Last year, we did the two day and were pleasantly k.o.'d by the freshness of the aroma of the King cake as soon as we opened the box. This year, I chose four day delivery. Didn't open it right away because we waited for another family member to stop by so we could all eat it together. So, after the four day delivery, plus two days kept in the fridge, the cake was a tad dry. Nothing a few seconds in the microwave didn't fix. Still amazing. If ya get the two day delivery and eat it the day it arrives, you won't have to do all that. When I saw the FedEx guy carrying the cake on its side, I was worried that it might be damaged. But nope, it was fine! Along with the cake, you get a bag full of fresh, delicious frosting, three small bags of orange, green and purple sugar, and a brochure with info about Mardi Gras and how to decorate your cake. I'd heard this one guy on You Tube complain about having to decorate it yourself but If they decorate it before shipping it to ya, it'll be a hot mess. Plus, it's fun to decorate it. So, yeah, that about sums it up. There are other places that ship the King cakes. I haven't tried 'em yet... I might not cos if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? Oh, and yes, and I can't forget the lil good luck baby. I got it this year. Let's see what lucky things it has in store for me. Maybe this'll be the year I'll finally become Yelp Elite! Thanks, Gambino's. We're a buncha Noo Yawkers who don't really celebrate Mardi Gras but we love the heck outta your cakes!

Always a 10/10. Order a Doberge cake for our mom's birthday and ended up grabbing some chocolate covered offers and petit feurs as well. Always moist and delicious.

I went to pick up a king cake on a Saturday. I was really surprised that the line was so long. It did move pretty quickly though. Half of my king cake was really good, the other half seemed to be missing the cinnamon filling. I would definitely go back to get another cake next year.

My goto spot when I need some King Cakes shipped during Mardi Gras season. The shipping is quick and arrives with no issue to the products.

Do NOT ORDER TO SHIP!! it Gambinos cares to rectify this situation there is a simple solution. "This way up" and FRAGILE, could be written on the shipping boxes! Considering how many other people got the same thing shows this is going by unattended. Sure, thus has to do with the Carrier TOO, but you haven't changed to carrier ir given them better requirements when shipping your items. So it does still lie on you Gambino, after all, people in Arizona (where I am/where my cake arrived) have no idea what a king cake is, or what the colors on the box indicate. my kids haven't seen/had a king cake in 2 years, and this us what we open.

Gambinos is a solid company with excellent customer service! They seem to really appreciate their customers, even those of us who live out of state. Recently had a cake shipped that arrived damaged beyond much repair. They were kind enough to offer a refund or reship which I appreciated. Due to the timing of an office party, I had to accept the refund but will gladly do business with them in the future!

I purchased a large order for a birthday. Selected the date for delivery. They shipped the items 3 weeks before the birthday and said "sorry nothing they can do" and never responded again. I've ordered from them for 11 years. This is my last.

Look at here. You might as well give him a try. The king cake with cream cheese filling can't go wrongs really sweet. They say it'll stay soft for 3 days after it arrives and the cake won't even last three days. So enjoy it even try the cinnamon roll king cake

We ordered two King Cakes shipped to Orlando Florida. The order arrived promptly, and was priced fairly. As we were opening the outer box the fresh smell of the cakes hit you immediately. The cakes were super fresh, tasted delicious and disappeared quickly. Highly recommend and will order again next year.

I placed an order for my son's 30th birthday last week. I paid $65 for the cake and delivery and it was to be there today between 1-2 pm. At 3 I called the bakery from my home in NY just to be told that the driver left without the cake and won't deliver it. The owner was not there to speak with. I got a refund but my son has no cake for his birthday. The driver should be fired and the owner should have done something to fix this problem when his employee called him. Don't use Joe Gambino's Bakery-they will let you down.

I love the King Cakes, especially the almond one. I buy them every year for Shrove Tuesday for my Second Grade class in Virginia!

Live out of town and ordered a doberge cake to bring to a party. Decorated like it was for a funeral didn't have merry Christmas in it like I asked and the cake was so dry that it almost choked you! Will never spend a dime there again!

Gambino's showed up to deliver the cakes and left within 1 minute without really informing anyone and i believe it was because they knew the wedding cakes looked messed up. We called back 3 different times long story short by 3rd call we were just sent to voicemail and ignored into the next morning. The hotel ended up having to ice over with a totally different color icing and the bride and groom were extremely upset this happened. I just wouldn't get delivery or catering here. They'll take a photo of it before they leave to bring it to you while it looks it's best and after reading all of the other reviews, be warned. 1 star is generous

I only gave it two stars because the Doberge cake was so, so, so good!!! I wanted to love this place, but the customer service experience was horrible. I found this bakery online when planning my trip to NOLA for my birthday. The idea of having such a region-specific cake from one of the original bakeries was so enticing. The horrible experience Started with me trying to order online two weeks before my birthday. The date could not be selected. When calling in to notify them, they said they did not know why my date could not be chosen but would schedule it over the phone. I asked if they would still honor the online discount due to their website glitch, and she said no. Okay, moving along, we arrived to pick up my cake, and the African American lady behind the counter was having a bad day. There was no one in the store. As we were traveling (plane) with the cake, we wanted to cut it and divide it up to share with my husband, that was staying behind. We told her this. Asked if we could have another box, she said no. Asked if she had a cake cutter or knife for us to slice our cake, she said no. Asked if she had a plastic fork, she said no. Now, this is where I am getting irritated as she was trying to rush us out. I look around and see tables where people eat. I said, "you do not have one plastic fork or spoon here"? She looked angry, pulled a fork out from behind the counter, and handed it to me. At this point, my husband was annoyed, so we rushed out. This was NOT a cheap cake. Spent $50. I had to run to the corner store down the road to slice with a plastic fork before the airport. If I knew better, I would think she was prejudiced. Why else were we mistreated? I have a big event in NOLA in a few months that we will need to order a cake for 70 people. They LOST my business. With all the competition you have to choose from, your treatment of CUSTOMERS should be at the forefront. My suggestion to the managers of this establishment is to keep her away from a customer-facing role. Maybe keep her in the back baking or something else. She is not a good look from your brand based on her attitude. So sorry. The cake was amazing, though, too bad.

I can't even begin to think of enough great things to say about this place. We had been there a couple times for King Cakes after my daughter moved to NOLA. I had never had one. They are amazing. I've tried a couple others since then and none compare to Gambinos. When my daughter got engaged she begin to plan and thought how awesome it would be to get them to do her wedding cakes. We made an appointment and went in to meet. The lady was so helpful. We did tastings and decided on exactly what she wanted. She also had an idea for the groom cake. My son in law is from Cincinnati and his most favorite food is Skyline Chili Dogs, this has to be a part of their wedding. Gambinos knocked it out of the park!!! They delivered and set everything up at the reception. We were very pleased!! If you are in the area and need anything , please give them a try! You will not be disappointed!

Best doberge cake in city, handsdown, must order ahead, pickup early and ask for them to get help in back, couple girls taking phone in orders and few in back but only one at counter so could wait 20min to get order if line long.

We ordered a king cake and picked it up next day. Super yummy, we ordered traditional to get the whole experience as we are here out of mardi gras season and it's hard to find. It is a whole cake only, not by the slice but it's so good our group is going to eat it all!! Super nice and easy service too!

Asked for one petit four and the woman serving me grabbed a very small one half the size of the rest so I said can I get one that is a little bigger and she got very rude with me and said "yeah I picked the smallest one". The wedding cake buttercream icing tastes like straight lard.

I ordered from out of state because I read reviews that the cakes are delicious. They are! We've celebrated 2 birthdays now with Gambino doberge cakes. If you can't decide which flavor you want you can do half and half. Ashley and the team are great!

UPDATE: Customer service sent me a new cake,no better, no worse. I quit. So very disappointed. After spending $54 on a SINGLE king cake($25 for shipping), my cake arrived smooshed to one side, folded over, will all the filling on that one side. I've had these cakes in Louisiana before, so I know they're good, but to spend that much on shipping for a ball of cake is ridiculous. I have emailed customer service to see if they will rectify this situation, but this is not their first bad review on any platform. Pics of my stupid cake for reference.
