Game Keepers Restaurant at Settlers Country Manor

The ambience was lovely, with a cozy fireplace adding warmth to the dining experience. Service was also excellent, attentive and friendly. We started with the cauliflower bites, but they were a letdown. The crumbs were overly thick, hard, and greasy, while the cauliflower itself was undercooked and unpleasantly tough. The flavor was decent, but the texture ruined it. The squid tasted alright, but like the cauliflower, it was far too oily. For mains, we ordered the pork hock and lamb shank. The portions were huge, but the tastes were disappointed.

Hosted my 60th birthday celebration here with several family members. Communication in advance with reservations staff was excellent. Requested table ready for us on arrival. Excellent, timely service. Delicious food. Highly recommended!

A beautiful place with nice young people trying their best to offer you a nice experience, but food was average without any wow factor...and one dish in particular, was beyond ridiculously small portion on a big plate...menu should be revised, in my opinion...reduced (far too many pages!) and improved!

Recently moved back to Auckland and have been on a mission to find some great spots to eat. I wasn’t expecting much in this semi-rural area, but on the way back from Muriwai, I stumbled across Gamekeepers Restaurant at Settlers Manor, and what a hidden gem it turned out to be! The food was delicious, the service warm and attentive, and the atmosphere just beautiful with the fireplaces and country setting. We’ll definitely be back!

Haven't been back since we had our wedding here. We ordered the escargot for starter, crispy tofu salad and the whole quail. The escargot was not what I expected. It was actually like a salad. The escargot itself didn't have the usual taste of how French prepared, it is more neutral flavour. The salad that the escargot sat on was actually very refreshing and tasty. A lot of flavours, olive oil, vinegar, red pepper corn, capers. Next was the quail. The quail was not too seasoned but more natural flavour which sat on creamy corn with some caramelised onion with some pomegranate. Interesting dish which served on a crazy looking plate. The tofu salad was very good, quite filling and have good char taste. Vegas cooked very well. Overall the menu is very unique here compare to a lot of other restaurant. Flavour and service both are good here. A bit pricier but good experience.

My mother and I had a lovely lunch at Gamekeepers at Settlers Country Manor. It was a rainy day, but the warm fire made it so cosy and inviting. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious, and the attentive staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable dining experience. On this occasion we were celebrating our daughter's 14th Birthday. I advised this at time of booking & my daughter was surprised by a lovely birthday dessert plate, to celebrate. The meal experience was perfect. The food was of a very high standard, which was matched by attentive service and great ambience. Thankyou we look forward to our next visit 😊

Super surprised at how great the food was hasn't been for a long time and didn't have high expectations. Delicious....Great service. Roaring fires on a cold winter day. Large group of us and it was great. Little pricey but worth it.

I attended a work Christmas lunch here on 28 Nov. We had about 50 people attending a buffet style lunch that cost about $58 per person but they have options depending on your budget. The range of food offered for the menu was wide and varied and pretty good for the price. The buffet included 3 roast meats, two hot dishes, seafood dishes, hot vegetables, salads, and desserts. There was certainly plenty of food for everyone and no complaints at all about quality. They perhaps struggled to keep up with demand occasionally but the food did keep coming. The venue is pretty cool. It operates as a restaurant and an event venue in an old refurbished dairy factory. I didn't see it all but I believe they have a few separate function rooms for different size groups and occasions. They also have some fairly large outdoor areas. We were in the Game Keepers restaurant which had a dining room and bar inside with the food presented on the covered patio outside. There is also a garden area outside. The dining room seating was a little crowded leaving some people to prefer taking their meal outside to an unset table. A little disappointing since We paid a $500 venue fee. This did give us exclusive use of the area though. They also charge a %2 credit card surcharge. I'm not a fan of this practice and I don't believe it's widespread in the catering industry. There are arguments for and against this but each individual will decide whether it's acceptable. It should be noted though that they generously agreed to invoice us and let us pay in a few days - this was a kind gesture that many wouldn't offer.
