Yelp
I wanted to like this business, because so many people reported positive experiences with them, and my initial impression of the owner was solid. I filled out the webform, inquiring about ebikes, and promptly got an email from the owner, followed by a phone call to discuss my needs and schedule a test ride. The conversation was informative and I felt he understood what I wanted. I was told there would be an eight-week wait for any bike, which would put delivery roughly mid-summer - longer than I wanted, but still giving me half a summer on my bike. Cool.
My husband and I got there and were set up on two bikes to test. We cycled around the quieter streets, then attempted a hill - and the bike was underpowered for the hill, which was frustrating, because that is literally the reason I want an ebike, as we had discussed on the phone.
Our second ride, I was put on a much more powerful bike - much more what I was looking for - and the difference was immediately noticeable when attempting the same hill.
Then comes the sticker shock - of course, the second bike is the most expensive one they sell. $7k+.
Here is where things come off the rails. I would have been willing to pay a large sum, even that much, for the right bike, but even floor models take 8+ weeks (and we're never mentioned on our visit, only the website). And the bike in question was now not 8 weeks, but a custom order, possibly up to 12 weeks, maybe more. In other words, you pay top dollar for the Porsche of ebikes, and can't have it for THE ENTIRE SUMMER - well, unless you pay another $1200 for rush shipping from Europe.
Here's the thing - I was still willing to consider it, or talk further - but the owner said he'd follow up with a quote and ordering information "on Monday", and, well, it's now two weeks past Monday, and still not a peep. So, we wandered over to our local bike shop, test-rode several models, and for literally half the price, I already have a comparable e-bike - and it's awesome.
