Made my way out to Ganesha for the second time tonight, but it looks like I never reviewed this place the first time I made it out here, so I'll combine both trips into a single review!
The ambiance is nice enough. Decor is Indian themed, and wooden chairs meet tables clothed in red. It feels comfortable, while you're sitting around enjoying your meal.
Service is extremely friendly, courteous, and respectful. Everybody I've encountered at Ganesha seems deferential, and truly appreciates their customers.
What of their dishes, though? Well, I've sampled several of them:
- Before the meal, they give you the Indian version of salsa and chips, but in this case it's wonton chips and two different sauces to choose from: tamarind or mint chutney! Both are excellent, and a great way to start the meal. The tamarind sauce is sweet, while the mint chutney is a wonderful spicy flavor. I love both of them, and tend to alternate between the two.
- Chicken Samosas: Nothing to complain about here! Served with minced chicken and the traditional potatoes, peas, and spices, it has a really good spicy flavor that will keep you coming back for more!
- Chicken Imli: A curry dish in which they sauté the chicken with a spicy tamarind sauce. It's a really interesting blend because the tamarind sauce is pretty sweet, while the curry is spicy. It comes together pretty well.
- Lamb Aloo: Vindaloo is my favorite of the Indian curries, and they do it pretty well. This dish is spicy, so order it only if you really like a good, hot, oniony flavor. That said, whereas the spice is at a good level, there aren't too many other flavors that you experience with it.
- Garlic Naan: who doesn't love naan? Who doesn't love garlic? Put it together, and you'll have an enjoyable bread to soak up your curry with!
- Keema Naan: this one was quite tasty. It's an unleavened naan stuffed with minced lamb. Had a great flavor throughout.
One thing worth mentioning is that all of their curries come with rice, so you'll already have a starch to soak up your leftover curry with. That said, if you still want a naan even though you already have rice, I can hardly blame you!
Overall, Ganesha made for a fine outing. They have some pretty good curries, and some exceptional service. Kudos to Ganesha for what they do!
