"Don’t be confused by the name - Gangnam here refers to the Jiangnan area of China, rather than the famous South Korea neighborhood (in their respective languages, both Gangnam and Jiangnan translate as “south of the river”). At this Milpitas restaurant, you’ll find lots of signature regional dishes, including squirrel fish (which must be pre-ordered), sweet vinegar pork spare ribs, Dongpo pork belly, and braised lion’s head meatballs." - Megan Zhang

This place is a hidden gem for sure. We came in after getting coffee at the place next door and were welcomed warmly by staff. We ordered the kimchi pancake, pork belly, bibimbap, and the mandu tofu soup. Everything came out fast and piping hot. It was genuinely such an enjoyable meal with the quality & flavor of the food. The variety and portions of banchan is also such a great deal. Get the pork belly, you will not regret it!

We love finding hidden gems 💎, and @gangnamtofuhouse is definitely one in the city of Fremont! They have the best banchan selections and everything is made from scratch so you know you’ll be getting a homey meal. We’ve never had bulgogi in our tteokbokki before and now we can’t think of having it any other way! It’s a small cosy restaurant All the dishes were super comforting and the service is quick and friendly. You’ll be full, but leave wanting more because we definitely can’t wait to come back to try the other items! They are also sister restaurant to @chachacha_fremont which is right next door so you can grab boba and dessert after. Food was great. Love the side dishes and people rice. Kalbi has good flavor. Tofu soup was great too.

Google
Solid Korean food in Fremont. They gave many side dishes and purple rice. The food was served quickly and tasty.

Best of the best. Great food quality and taste. Even the banchan are great. Hope the LA Galbi price can be lower🥹 Recommend beef and seafood tofu soup, LA Galbi, Galbitang! We would try more.

These guys are great, good food good portions and excellent service. We got the spicy beef soup and spicy rice cake appetizer with beef. Not too spicy but still very flavorful and delicious. Give these guys a try they don't disappoint.

Google
One of the best hidden gems in the neighborhood. You will definitely missed it if you don’t look for it. This Gangnam Tofu House is located in a small mall at the end of the Thornton Avenue. Owner and staff are super friendly and food is always good. If you can’t take too spicy, ask them to tone it down to your level and enjoy. I have been here many times and will go again.

Whenever I travel to my bestie’s place at Fremont we always stop by at this restaurant for their Tofu soup and generous portions of side dishes. Loved the spicy kimchi today and the host served extra kimchi 😻 Love how great the folks were at this place. Stopping by again next time!!

Yelp
We've been doing takeout over the recent years since the pandemic whenever we craved kimchi stew. They are not skimpy with the pork belly meat in the soup. Today, we ordered 2 of the combo deals: galbi w/ beef & seafood tofu soup and pork belly w/ beef & seafood soup. The bbq meal hit the spot... my favorite part was def the banchans - it was so good we asked for refills. I've noticed other K restaurants are lacking banchans but not this place. Bbq meat was sizzling hot and the tofu soup is ALWAYS good here.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday night and they were fully seated but we only had to wait around 10-20 minutes to get a table - the restaurant is fairly small but still comfortable. They have a machine at the table where you can browse the menu and then order! I was craving tofu soup and this absolutely satisfied my needs - it was really flavorful and spicy, however, I'm typically more used to the galbi side being portioned a bit more (at other places) and there being an egg to crack into my soup. I didn't mind too much though as the meat was also tasteful and I enjoyed the overall combo entree. We ordered the corn cheese and it is by far, one of the prettiest corn cheeses I've been served. On top of the presentation, it was really delicious too! I didn't really try the spicy cold noodles but my friend who ordered it for the first time (ever in general) enjoyed it and was able to finish the whole dish so I imagine that it was good! Overall, the service was fast and kind and the food was great. I'd definitely dine here again.

Yelp
I really love this place! Stopped in for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised to be be greeted with warmth and hospitality by the gracious women who gladly took my order for Mushroom Tofu soup in Medium spice. I sat down and asked for tea and water which were both refreshing. I didn't wait long at all to be presented with some awesome looking banchan at least 8 different servings which were so fresh and delicious! When my soup arrived it was piping hot and included white mushrooms and shitake mushrooms with silky tofu garnished with green onions - oh wow it was so delicious my hour lunch proved to be so short I had to finish a small amount at work. The banchan alone was outstanding as was my experience! I cannot wait to return and try other dishes.

Rheina C.

Yelp
A cute and casual tofu house. The restaurant is on the smaller side but the food is delicious!! Loved everything and everything came out so quick! Also when we went on a Wednesday evening, there was only one lady serving us. However, she was able to get to every single table and she was so kind! Highly recommend this place!

Janice B.

Yelp
Great little spot to have tofu soup or any other standard Korean fare. The banchan (appetizers) are all yummy, and we really enjoyed the purple rice that is served with the tofu soup. We ordered Ramen Tofu Soup and Spam & Sausage Tofu Soup, and were very happy with both. Flavorful and spicy (you select from 5 levels of spiciness) without being too salty. Friendly and efficient waitress, pricing is average for this area, and ambiance was no frills but clean. Ordering is through a touch screen at the table - very convenient. Would recommend if you're ever in the vicinity!

Laksha D.

Yelp
Umm ordered 250 dollars worth of food and was cancelled within 45 minutes. I get it, if it's too busy then cancel within 5-10 minutes but 45 minutes shame on you. Wanted to try something new but will never try this place because of the worst work ethic.

M R.

Yelp
Food is very tasty. Soft tofu soup on a cold day is delicious! Love to support local, family run places.

Candy C.

Yelp
My go to Korean food is now this place. It is close by, the good always comes out piping hot, and so delicious. A little oricey, yet I return each time because the food is good!!!

Rona S.

Yelp
I have been here a couple times and I have liked the food every time I go. The restaurant is small and in a not so busy complex. The staff are very nice and attentive with short wait times. Prices are fair. I always get the tofu soup and my boyfriend gets kalbi. The banchans are also very good. Highly recommend!

Shirley M.

Yelp
This unassuming Korean tofu house is always a comfort to visit - the familiar waft of Korean tofu soup (they offer 8+ combinations) and tasty banchan keep me coming back even as more Korean restaurants open up. I usually order some form of tofu soup, especially on cold rainy days, but I've also had their kimchi pancake, fried mackerel, and kalbi short ribs and they've all been good. I also appreciate the unlimited refills of the banchan- the wait staff even came by a couple times to ask if I wanted any more of a particular banchan dish (a rarity in my experience). Their ice water also tastes exceptionally good for some reason. Small space, but usually not too long of a wait and the restaurant is always clean and orderly. I feel it funny (in a good way) that they play Korean mukbangers on the TV while you dine - it makes me enjoy the food more!

Ed S.

Yelp
Wanted Korean food for lunch and went to our favorite Tofu house. We had their combination of Seafood Tofu soup with chicken bulgogi. We also had their seafood pancake The seafood tofu soup is delicious. The chicken bulgogi is soft and tender. You have to try their pancakes. Either you have a choice of beef, seafood, and vegetables. This combination can feed 2 people. The portions are generous and a complete meal. We always come here if we want Tofu soup.

Moriah L.

Yelp
Tofu house is a family owned business in the plaza with pizza guys, Satomi sushi, and across from Suju's! There's a parking lot, so parking won't be a problem. I came here for lunch with a group of 7 and we were seated immediately! I ordered the beef and seafood soup, with medium spice. The spice level is accurate and I was pleased with the amount of spice in my dish. The soup also come with a bowl of rice which is perfect to eat with the soup! Service was fast and the dish was flavorful and tasty! There is a generous amount of tofu, seafood, and beef in the dish so it was very filling!

Veronica D.

Yelp
I like all the BANCHAN they served, it's delicious & refillable. Jenny Y, imo, the server is nice, she always smile. They have also a TV that plays Korean Music.

Ping L.

Yelp
Went there on Sunday lunch and it was full of people. Didn't have to wait to get the table though. Food was fast. Ordered Beef rib and tofu soup for $33. Tofu soup was really good! Very flavourful! Beef rib was very tender and juicy too! Very reasonable for this price value! Kimchi fried rice was alright. The rice was a little too wet though. Side dishes were alright!

Kezia S.

Yelp
Im such a sucker for soft tofu soup When I found this place was in my area I immediately dragged my friends to come here with me! Completely satisfied my cravings and the lady who served us was very sweet :)

Aga O.

Yelp
Homey, mom & pop very OG Gangnam Tofu House. Venturing in Fremont we really wanted something filling and comforting and our friend from here suggested this spot as she had been coming for years. It really is delicious!!! Beef Soup (spicy) Tofu Seafood Soup Short Ribs Galbi Tteok-bokki Grilled Mackerel Kimchi-jjigae All really solid items! Pleasant vibe, scrumptious, and delightful food . The young man who helped us did wonderfully, very attentive and thoughtful. We'll most definitely revisit if we're in the area. Kamsahamnida!!

Josh K.

Yelp
Solid korean soondubu and kalbi! Definitely one of the better soondubu that I have had. It is spicy, the tofu is nice and soft, and the flavor is nice and infused into each component. The kalbi was a little fatty but great taste!

Juliet T.

Yelp
The banchan is so YUMMY! The bancan definitely caught my eye when my friend suggested coming here to eat dinner. Perfect amount of pickling and the type of banchan is different from other Korean restaurants. Unfortunately, that's the only thing I really liked about this restaurant :c I might've came in on an off day because my friend said the food and service is typically great. We came in and chose our own seats, I noticed there were a bunch of flies and the tables were a bit dirty/not really maintained. At some point of our meal, one of the flies flew right into our spoon of rice (sad). Service wise, we were acknowledged but didn't put our order in until 10-15 minutes of sitting down. During that time, we didn't receive water or hot tea until way later. I ordered D3. Beef Tofu soup and it came with beef, tofu, and sliced shiitake mushrooms. The shiitake mushrooms was a perfect addition to the soup since it soaked up a lot of flavor/broth! I liked the tofu soup but by 2/3 of the meal, the soup just got really salty. I thought it was just my broth, but my friend also mentioned that hers was very salty at the end, which confirmed that it wasn't just me! I think if I lived closer, I would give it another try or order it for takeout. But since I'm in the South Bay, I wouldn't drive all the way up to visit unless I was craving their banchan.

Karen C.

Yelp
My family and I came here on a Thursday night to celebrate a birthday. The location is small and pretty busy for a Thursday, so we had to wait for a table, but the wait wasn't bad (~15 minutes). My family ordered the seafood pancake to share and it was delicious. There was a crispy skin and a soft inside filled with seafood. It was tasty! There were several banchan, which were nicely pickled! They were delicious. I had the mushroom tofu with mild spice. The broth was flavorful. There were a variety of mushrooms, but the types of mushroom per tofu soup might be dependent on what is available. For example, my brother also ordered the mushroom tofu soup, but he had no enoki mushroom in his whereas I did. Overall, I enjoyed my tofu soup. We also had the beef bulgogi, which was pretty good as well. Overall, I appreciated the food and the service. My family enjoyed the meal and the service was pretty good. Definitely worth a visit if you're around the area.

Leily P.

Yelp
Service was good Banchan very salty Soups were a little bland Overall ok if you're in the area

Jessica C.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Was a regular here before COVID. Came here almost weekly (sometimes more lol). The owner is extremely friendly and has a fun sense of humor (especially when I went there so often). Best Tofu House in the East Bay that I have been to so far. The menu is absolutely what I always crave for Tofu Houses (ie fish roe and samgyetang). The ban chan is always top notch as well. Their prices went up quite a bit after COVID, but for a family business, I totally understand and will wholeheartedly support. Absolutely recommend hands down.

Mikaela L.

Yelp
Great place to come for comfort food. A small place with few tables but for majority of the time wait we'll not be long. I got the seafood tofu soup and it is delicious. I got medium and should of got mild since my spice tolerance is so low! Parking lot in area. Below posted my meal and the menu! Recommend this place!

Siyi T.

Yelp
Good good and friendly staff. The tofu soup is great for a cold winter day. Service is a little slow though because it seems to be understaffed.

Chris M.

Yelp
The place is small and can be romantic though it depends on how busy it is. We love their seafood pancake. Lots of seafood. Great value. All the other foods we have tried there are also amazing. We love the soups. So far, this is the best place to different Banchan. It is also kinda funny when that have Mulhban on their tv.

Jiayi S.

Yelp
My family and I get Gangnam whenever we crave Korean food. They have really good tofu soups and the galbi and seafood pancake is also fantastic. Highly recommend! The restaurant is really cute and cozy and the service is very fast.

John G.

Yelp
This place are go to for Korean food. The staff is very nice and the service is excellent. My family usually gets the seafood tofu soup with no spice. We also get the seafood pancake and always ask for the extra sauce that comes with it because it's never enough. We like to get the Kalbi beef (Korean bbq) and Bulgogi. The flavors of all the food is top-notch and we come get food from them at least once a month maybe more. If you're looking for a Korean spot look no further this is the place to be.

Kiara B.

Yelp
I don't even leave reviews but the lady who served me and my friend was genuinely so nice and the food was amazing. I tried the spicy cold noodles for the first time and it was amazing especially cause it's been really hot recently. Definitely would recommend this lil hole in the wall. Will be back

Vicky L.

Yelp
Came here about a month ago, the food and service was awesome. Today, it was nothing close. Spicy pork was bland, tofu soup was overly salty and the staff was very annoyed when we asked for a refill on a couple banchan. We wanted to support this place since we have been loyal customers since the original owners but it is not the same. I would go to Newark.

Sophia K.

Yelp
This was a simple place to get some korean food. Nothing fancy, but just good food. We got some to share - seafood pancake, japchae and I got a seafood and beef tofu soup. The seafood pancake was my favorite. It was thick and chewy and the outside was crispy. The japchae was good and the tofu soup hit the spot with so much flavor. I tried a piece of the husband's shortrib and it was so tender and flavorful. Also, free banchans! Overall, good place for Korean food with reasonable prices.

Shiela T.

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Korean food then Gangnam is the place to go. Their food is served hot and fresh and packed with flavor. Their seafood tofu soup is incredible and definitely hits the spot on a cold afternoon. We also ordered the seafood pancake during our visit and the size of it will not disappoint. Texture is also great as it's perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The price though was about $19 just for the pancake. The prices here are a bit of a stretch so be prepared but the food is delicious.

Kelly F.

Yelp
One of my favorite korean places in the area. Their banchan was so good (though a little on the spicier side). We got the spicy pork bibimbap and bulgogi pancake. The bibimbap had a lot of veggies and the rice was nice and crispy on the bottom- my absolute favorite part of bibimbap and they did it so well! The bulgogi pancake was so good- crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The staff were super nice. It wasnt super packed for a Sunday lunch but they were definitely busy. Definitely recommend!

Nicky C.

Yelp
A little hole in the way tucked away in a strip plaza. A warm whole hearted Korean Aunty kitchen feeling. After a trip to h-mart my bf and I were feeling for some tofu soup. Why not? It's a freezing winter night. What else will cure and warm the soul? Tofu soup of course! What we ordered: Seafood tofu soup Fried mackerel The medium on the tofu soup was spicy imo, but not for my bf. The audience of clams and shrimp was perfect. So much tofu in the soup that I couldn't finish. Thank you for being so generous. The fried mackerel was nicely fried and came with a sweet dipping sauce. It was nicely paired with the fish that I never had before at any other spots. Will be back to try other items on the menu when in the area.

Jose Manuel M.

Yelp
Very very good food! Very attentive! Beautiful costumer service!! Good seasoning on the food!

Darlene D.

Yelp
Went here with my bf for a weekday dinner because I was craving galbi! It is a small mom and pop restaurant and it's perfect for a korean comfort food dinner. They have a combo that you can order galbi and soondubu so thats what we got with an order of seafood pancake! We ordered these 3 items and we had ALOT to take home. It was alot of food for an affordable price. The food also comes with an assortment of banchan and rice. Soondubu also comes with an egg! Some banchan that I can remember is kimchi, potato, fish cake, pickled radish, almond jelly (something clear). The service is very fast and the staff are very nice. We loved the seafood pancake! It was really warm and super crunchy and not squishy in the middle like some places. Great korean food choice if you're in the area!

Gabby C.

Yelp
This place is located in a strip mall next to a boba place which is so convenient if you want boba afterwards. The place is small and cozy. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. We have been here twice and both times we ordered their combo meals which includes tofu soup. It's very good! They have a good selection of tofu soup on the menu. Their banchan dishes are good as well! The service is quick! I think this is one of my favorite "go to" korean restaurant. Come try it out you won't be disappointed!

Satomi H.

Yelp
We had takeout and the food was very good! The food was not greasy so we can taste the flavor. Next time we are dining in!

Carolyn P.

Yelp
This was my second time here and I had to get the exact same thing. The gal bi and tofu soup are just so so good and I love the side dishes that are provided. The staff is so friendly as well, the long drive to here will always be worth it.

Teresa C.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Fremont. if you plan to come during dinner or at the end of the week, make a reservation ahead of time for dine in. At this time, there are only 4 tables inside. Can sit up to 4 per table or combined tables for larger parties. The tofu soup hits the spots. Their yukgaejang is also work trying as it contains lots of meat and bark - flavor is 10/10. Spice level is perfect. They do refill the side dishes, but sometimes will ask to ask if you want something specific. As of July 2022, there has been a huge price increase in their menu. A bit pricey for tofu soup, but hits the spot if you're looking for something warm on a cold day.

Winston I.

Yelp
I have ordered food from this place two times so far and I was pleased and satisfied with the quality of their food both times. I will recommend this place to my friends and relatives if they have cravings for authentic Korean food.

Sara J.

Yelp
10/10 would recommend dining here if you're in the mood for some authentic Korean soondubu. It smacks hard! My partner and I tried this place out for an early dinner last night and it did not disappoint. Because we got there at 5:30pm on a Wednesday, we didn't not have to wait for a table. We shared the toppoki with fish cake and both enjoyed the soondubu & LA galbi combo. All of which were phenomenal.

Rachel L.

Yelp
YUM!! Tofu House is seriously always good. Their barbecue meats and tofu soups make my mouth water just thinking about it. My personal favorites from here are the spicy chicken, BBQ rib-gal bi, BBQ chicken, and seafood tofu soup. Keep in mind the BBQ ribs and chicken don't have the american style barbecue flavor you'd imagine. Definitely give these items a try! An honorable mention is there seafood pancakes (not the biggest fan but my family loves it). Pricing is reasonable for their tofu soups but a tad bit expensive for the BBQ meats. Either way, portions are very filling and we usually have leftovers. When you order, they give you banchan (appetizers) with your meal. Staff here are friendly and make you feel at home. However, you may have difficulty with parking because this restaurant is located in a small, cramped plaza. Overall, great place for some korean food!

Jason H.

Yelp
Had the seafood tofu soup, seafood pancake, mackerel, and short rib. The rib was very tasty. Spicy seafood soup was great. Mackerel was not salty, I like it that way. Pancake was a bit doughy. Only bad point. Will come back again.

Neil K.

Yelp
The best seafood tofu in the Fremont area for Korean food I've eaten. The taste is so rich and they put a lot of seafood into their soup. Also ordered some Galbi and it was ok. Not sizzling off the grill but hot/warm. Service was pretty good and a very cozy place to eat. Next time will try some more dishes.

Dave B.

Yelp
My new favorite Korean restaurant with authentic Korean cuisine. Tofu soup was just perfect! Galbee Korean BBQ and kimchi jjigae is good too. Service was excellent and felt very welcomed. Will return.

Danit B.

Yelp
Came with a friend as a 1/2 way meeting point. The staff were lovely and the menu is easy to navigate. The banchan was fine, the tofu soup was fine, but the portions are solid. The tofu soup was full of everything we ordered. The broth was fine. I much prefer Tofu Plus in Cupertino, but this was good.

Jay P.

Yelp
My wife loves soon-tofu and we are always trying to find new places that have it. The instant kind is quite good but can't compare to freshly made and you never feel tired or bloated after. It's also great to dial in to the heat of teh broth to your choice, from milky clear to violent red. Beef and seafood soft tofu: The interesting ingredient they use is sliced abalone instead of only the tiny shrimp you have to peel or the clams with tiny amounts of meat in it. Liked having the big chunk of abalone as part of the broth and this dish is one of the rare pairing of beef and seafood that work very well. Seafood pancake: much thicker than normal ones and the dough is dolloped onto the pan in an interesting way where there are lot of curly section that give it a nice crispy later. Prefer less dough but still taste ok, especially when dipped into the sauce. Banchan: Not a crazy variety but the ones they had tasted house-made and were of good quality.

Karen L.

Yelp
The food here was really good and they give good portions. The only thing is the place is a little on the dirty side. But it was always crowded.

Danielle M.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here when we were both craving some Korean food one day in the early evening. When we arrived, parking was a bit tight (it seemed busy in the area), but we managed to get a slot outside. We entered the restaurant and were welcomed and seated immediately. The venue gives off the typical hole in the wall, cozy restaurant vibe. Staff here are so nice, and tables are well organized despite the shape of the restaurant. We decided to order short rib, seafood pancake, and soft tofu soup. The seafood pancake was HUGE and, unlike other Korean restaurants I've been to in the U.S., not as oily. This reminded me of the quality of seafood pancakes I've had in Korea, which was pleasing! The short rib was tasty and tender, and I loved how the texture of the meat was not too chewy but also nice and juicy. Now, I have to admit that this restaurant has the BEST soft tofu soup I've had in the South/East Bay. It was flavorful, spicy, and absolutely rich in quality! I really enjoyed eating here and think that the quality of the food here is worth its prices! Excited to come back and have their delicious soup again!
