BigEye Sushi Opens in Downtown Brooklyn With ‘Sushi Robots’ | Eater NY

"Salat’s earlier Sushi Ganso, which shuttered in 2016 alongside Ganso Yaki, had a table-service vibe and no machine automation for making the food, making Bigeye a markedly different, fast-casual, robot-assisted approach." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

Taqueria Opens in Downtown Brooklyn from Harris Salat and Rich Horiike | Eater NY

"Before this, Harris Salat was the restaurateur behind the shuttered Ganso restaurants; the former Ganso Ramen space now houses Taqueria. Salat has been known for opening neighborhood favorites that primarily offered different kinds of Japanese cuisine, and chef Rick Horiike partnered with him at the Ganso restaurants." - Serena Dai

I don't think there's any better Japanese place north of here in Westchester. The food was spectacular, the service was attentive, and helpful, and the atmosphere was amazing, if not a little loud and distracting. We were sitting directly under a speaker though, still, very loud there. I could not recommend this place enough for anyone who lives nearby, every part of the experience was brilliant and satisfying. Thank you for having us, we will be back again soon!

We loved every bite at Ganso — the food is fresh, fun, and bursting with authentic Japanese flavor. The Ika (Squid) Karaage was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. The Tempura Set was hearty and satisfying, and the Nigiri Set delivered bold, fresh seafood flavors that took us straight back to Japan. A must-visit for anyone craving a true taste of Japan! 🇯🇵🍣

I had a fantastic meal at Ganso Ramen & Sushi! The chicken katsu curry was absolutely delicious — perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the curry sauce had amazing flavor. Everything came out fresh, hot, and beautifully presented. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed but inviting. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel comfortable as soon as you sit down. I’m already looking forward to coming back to try their ramen and sushi next time. If you’re looking for great Japanese comfort food made with care, this spot is definitely worth checking out!

The atmosphere here is very relaxing and the staff here are very attentive without being overly so. Suprisingly, the Ganso wings had the best crunchy skin and interesting flavor. The wings were moist and delicious. Our ramen was quite filling and tasty to the last drop. I love that they allow you to add extras to your bowl and the soft boiled egg added just the right amount of protein. I had the Hitachino Nest red rice ale, which I've never tried. The ale met expectations. Thank you for a fine gustatory experience, will recommend and be back next time we are in the area.

Google
The sushi was really good and we loved the freshness. The tonkotsu ramen wasn’t as impressive—broth was lighter than expected. Still a nice visit overall. The service is great.

Google
Ganso was an all-around great experience. The food was amazing and fresh (both sushi and ramen). The hot sake was smooth and hit the spot on a chilly autumn day. The staff waited on us just perfectly and were so friendly. I highly recommend visiting if you are a ramen and/or sushi lover.

The sushi was really good, though a bit pricey ($33 for 5 pieces). The ramen was also delicious

Google
Amazing addition to the Sleepy Hollow restaurant scene. Sushi was excellent, ramen was good and we loved the Katsu chicken and brussels sprout apps. The severs were very attentive and kept things moving with big crowds coming in from the Halloween street fair. The outdoor ambience is super charming and the indoor ambience is getting there- needs a little ambient lighting or art. We will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Finally! They're open!!! It's been a long time coming and definitely worth the wait. The staff were very welcoming and happy to see guests come through the door. The decor seems similar to the previous restaurant, though we came at night. We couldn't get a good look at the patio which was added on. The temp was around 20 degrees, so even with the heaters outside, sitting al fresco was not an option! It should be lovely in the Spring, Summer and Fall. We started with the homemade gyozas. Very nice. Then we shared a pork belly bun. Also very good. We also shared a Torro hand crafted sushi. Nice. (The only thing missing was a soy sauce bowl for dipping, tho' my partner snarfed it down so quickly I didn't have time to request one!) The Tonkatsu Ramen had a rich broth. I can see why it's a favorite. My partner had the katsu curry (chicken cutlet with a yellow curry). He enjoyed it. Hot sake hit the spot and the ice water was served in metal cups. Nice touch. We're looking forward to sampling all of the sushi rolls in the coming months. Good luck guys! Welcome to Sleepy Hollow!!

Yelp
Very nice, still small interior. Still not finished (3 weeks after opening) as they don't have a phone to make resi's. Very polite service. Pork dish came out lukewarm. 5 pcs sushi was excellent, but left me wanting something else. Crispy Peking Duck roll was bland and forgetable. Needs a fine tuning.

Yelp
What a disappointment. The tempura coating was a thick batter, not light and flaky as tempura should be. One piece of broccoli, the rest of the vegetable pieces were sweet potato. Not the usual dinner, miso soup and salad were extra. The Tonkotsu Ramen was absolutely tasteless. Did not taste like 12 hour pork broth. I don't believe I had braised pork belly, it tasted like chuck. The room is very small, with tables crammed in, in all directions. There is no FOH person, the server runs from one situation to another. I can't believe how bad it is.

Yelp
Came for lunch as soon as we heard it was finally open. It was worth the wait! Chicken Katsu Curry was rich and the chicken was very crispy. Ramen was fresh and well balanced. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
Went for lunch, got a salmon roll lunch and spicy scallop crunch roll. Food is fresh. Service was good. They forgot my soup but brought it out once I mentioned it. Nice addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
Customer service was really nice. The food was delicious. Highly recommend the chicken Katsu curry.

Yelp
The ramen and sake were so good! All the staff were so nice! A new neighborhood favorite for sure
