GARAGE Kitchen + Bar

We stopped by on Sat afternoon before a concert. Cool place, great staff and service. We had the ahi nachos and they were amazing and I mean out of this world. I suggest you go there and eat and drink before a ball game as it is walking distance to Petco Park. I'll be going back here soon. BTW I forgot to take a picture of the nachos before we ravaged them...

We took out of town visitors here based on the great reviews and have to say we were less than impressed. The Garage is connected to Shout and also shares restrooms with Werewolf. We specifically decided to try them out during their happy hour which is between 4-6pm. We sat down at a table and were approached by the waitress. We let her know we were there to try out the happy hour and proceeded to order our drinks. Happy hour is advertised as 51% off. The drinks themselves were ok. A bit later we noticed we hadn’t seen our waitress for a bit and wanted to get another round in before it hit 6pm. We finally caught her eye and she came over and we let her know we wanted some additional drinks before happy hour ended. She took the order and brought us the drinks about five minutes later. After we finished the second round we wanted to head out to another bar and had trouble getting our waitresses attention so I eventually went up to the bar where she was chatting with other workers. She proceeded to print out the bill and it was full price instead of 51% off. When I asked why we didn’t get the half off she stated it was only for certain beers and alcohol drinks. I was in disbelief given we had specifically mentioned we were there for the happy hour and she made no mention that the drinks we were ordering were not included in the deal. That was shady as hell. We won’t be going back there. I’m giving them two stars only because the drinks were ok. Be careful what you order if you’re going during happy hour.

I had high hopes for a pleasant evening at GARAGE Kitchen + Bar with its promising ambiance and scenic view from the second floor. Unfortunately, any enjoyment was eclipsed by abysmal service that bordered on neglect. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated, offering a glimpse of what could have been a delightful experience. However, what followed was a staggering 35 MINUTES of being completely disregarded by the staff. Despite being surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a Saturday evening, it seemed our table was invisible to the waitstaff. After patiently waiting for ten minutes without any acknowledgment, I took the initiative to flag down one of the servers, politely requesting to place our order. Their assurance of prompt service was hollow, as another ten minutes passed with no action taken. Observing other tables receiving attentive service only compounded our frustration. Feeling increasingly overlooked, we sought clarification on the delay, only to be met with indifference and a lack of apology. It became evident that our presence was an inconvenience rather than a priority for the staff. Regrettably, after enduring such disregard for our patronage, we made the decision to leave. The lack of accountability and basic courtesy displayed by the staff left a sour taste, overshadowing any potential the restaurant may have had. In conclusion, I strongly advise others to steer clear of GARAGE Kitchen + Bar. While the setting may be picturesque, the appalling service renders any visit a disappointing and regrettable experience.

We were sat upstairs on a Saturday morning around 11am. Seated without a wait. Tried the chicken and waffles, bland chicken waffles are hard to mess up. Country fried steak also very bland. Had to try and add salt to help the situation. Meet pretty firm and little chew to it. Potatoes okay. Not going to finish my meal

We went for both dinner and brunch on friday and saturday. I had the blue cheese burger, cooked medium. The burger was pretty good and the pieces of thick cut bacon were cooked just right. I think the burger could have used just a little bit more blue cheese. The parmesan fries kinda sucked. My wife had the Ricotta Gnocchi, she liked it and would order it again. Today, we went back for brunch. We wanted to try the smores french toast and carne asada eggs benny. Both were pretty good.

I couldn’t be more pleased with the level of service we received. Upon arriving we were greeted at the door. Seated, a waiter came over with water. I didn’t catch her name she’s a beauty dark skin, with hair pinned back. However, she waited patiently for us to order, asked if we had any questions. She offered her suggestions. We ordered the wraps and fries and a cocktail. Drinks were perfect, another waiter gentleman brought the drinks, with a smile. Didn’t catch his name either. But full of energy. Kind of dark brownish hair. However they work good as a team. With was something I never seen. It was a baseball game that day so it started to pick up. They tagged team so well. Food came out soon we blanked our eyes. My husband noticed the wings, and decided to order some after the waiter(guy) made a suggestion about how to order them. Let me just say they were a hit. We loved our experience. We then found out the lady that seated us was the manager. Sara, we complimented her staff especially the waiters. We were the couple that sat at the high table. When we come back to visit we will be back! Please keep up the good work!

Lovely service! The bartender was nice to get us beer tastings since we were unable to decide. I really liked the refreshing and sweet Japanese based one. The cheesecake with berry sauce made for a good dessert too. However I wish they had a bigger menu for non alcoholic drinks.

Pretty much chose this place to have dinner by chance. We were visiting San Diego as an anniversary get away trip. The Garage Kitchen + Bar has a public house vibe. The menu isn't extensive, but has some good variety of bar fare. We chose to order the Ahi Tuna nachos and a French dip sandwich with fries, along with a specialty bar drink. We weren't too sure what the nachos were going to be like. When our food arrived, we were pleasantly presented with a well plated masterpiece of nachos. The tuna nachos were SO good! The French dip was good too. Nice tender roast beef, with a good flavor and just enough au jus. We really enjoyed our dinner and drinks.
