Yelp
Been in love for 7 years now. And still going strong.
When we moved to Cary awhile back, I thought I was going to miss Logan's terribly. However, I quickly discovered Garden Supply Co on Old Apex Rd. Over the years, I've taken our pine tree studded front yard from a barren, hard as nails clay pit, to a more natural garden area that I happen to think is quite lovely. I've used advice from the staff and most of the plants that have thrived have come from GSC shade section (Lenten Roses, Heuchera, Ajuga, Blackberry Lilly, Little Kim Lilac, various hostas, herbs (rosemary, lavender, sage), etc).
When it comes to gardening, there is value in learning from those who live & grow in your area. Plants shipped in from growers 5 states away (ie lowes) just don't 'get' our clay, sand, red dirt lifestyle. I think the key is that even though plants may be found cheaper at Lowes and Home Depot, you definitely won't get the selection, advice, ideas, or the education of this local center.
Also, the owners seem to do a lot in the community and there are often discounts, coupons, and specials so I think that if you are a smart shopper, you can get very high quality plants and goods here for a reasonable price.
Lastly, the owner must also love Christmas- because there is a fantastic opening and display of ornaments, decor, etc starting in November forward. I go every year just to check out the various trees, ideas, and new decorations. And every year, I get at least one new and unique ornament. This year it was a glass Farmall tractor- perfect for a transplanted farm girl living in the city.
