The Garden Theater is a beautiful and welcome addition to Midtown, and to the local roster of performance venues.
It's the perfect size - larger than the Majestic theater across the street, but still small enough to maintain an intimate feel. Dark, simple, and classic is how I'd describe the look of the theater. One bar stretched along the back of the room - the lines can get long for a drink but the bartenders are fast and efficient. It's a little nicer, classier than other venues of comparable size around town. The events hosted here are slightly more upscale and appear to target the mature young professional crowd. Marsha Ambrosius, a Remy Martin tasting expo, the annual Tux and Chucks black tie fundraiser, etc. I don't expect I will be seeing any raucous rock or rap shows on the calendar here.
It's connected to the Grille at Midtown (which is excellent), making it easy to grab a drink or a bite before or after a show. The theater can be booked for private events, as well. In addition to the theater itself, there is a clean and spacious lobby as well as some large event rooms upstairs. Parking structure is just on the corner, but I've always been able to find a spot on the street as well.
I've enjoyed my experience every time I've been here, and look forward to more shows and events at the Garden Theater to come!
