Garden Theater

The Garden Theatre is amazing. Friends had their wedding and reception here this weekend! The venue is absolutely stunning! The staff actually looked happy, like they actually enjoyed their jobs. The acoustics were perfect! No echo or bouncing! The terrace patio area was quiet and familiar! Garden Theatre thank you for having a diamond in the rough venue!

The Garden Theater was the perfect space for our event! There is a lot of versatility at the venue, which allowed for us to host a private cocktail class, VIP lounge and throw an amazing event with live performances in the main space. We were provided with a great list of vendors to work with who helped bring our event to life and were a pleasure to work with. Everyone on the Garden Theater team was very accommodating and so much fun to work with!

Had a great time at the concert tonight. The staff there were so helpful and got us chairs to use - it's not fun getting older - so we could enjoy the show. The venue is nice, the staff friendly, and parking convenient.

Excellent venue, was breeze to get to. Parking available opposite side of street. I took the easy way and rode the Q-Line for free and walked a block to the Garden Theatre. The place is nice and inspirational, clean entry, really nice reception area. Was there for a birthday celebration, and the decor was lovely. There was music, not too loud, so you could speak to other guest easily. The bar service was speedy. Food service was delicious. "The Love Experience " presented an array of tasty finger foods, and well seasoned warm dishes. All in all a great experience.

The Garden Theater is great! Super versatile space with a cozy mezzanine and private outdoors area, clean, spacious bathrooms, ADA accessible walkways & elevators, lots of dressing rooms for set up, etc. The flow of the space is really nice and could accommodate a ton of different types of events. The venue comfortably fit our 250 guests and the staff were so professional, nice, and helpful the whole time. Amy, Biko, and Bill were all amazing to work with. We needed a lot of hand holding and they were always more than happy to help us out. The night of the event, we had a big rush at the bar and they brought in another bartender to help, they worked with our DJ and caterer to make sure things ran smoothly, they handled some last minute little things that took a ton of stress off us - I can't say enough good things.

We were married at the Garden Theater on 10/6/23 and cannot express the gratitude we have for Amy, BJ, and Biko for helping to host our best day yet. Amy is an angel who will guide you through coordination and ANY questions you have, and BJ and Biko are a detail-oriented dream team, executing the event day-of seamlessly. We DIY’d a LOT (this bride got in a little over her head) and this team, with their amazing staff, got their hands dirtier than anyone was expecting and did it with a smile - it was all due to the flexibility and capabilities they had that our day was as beautiful as it was. Their preferred vendor list also made gathering all the necessary pieces incredibly easy, and it was relieving to know all had worked within the space before - and all were excited to return! I was able to set up an outline for the day, and the Garden staff made it happen. Amy was checking in with me in the Bridal Suite all morning, letting me know when vendors were arriving and assuring me all was going well downstairs. Biko worked endlessly to make sure the set up and décor teams were prepared and on track for both the ceremony and reception, and BJ ensured ahead of time that the bride and groom were well taken care of and had never had an empty glass in hand. Every turn, every mile, they did extra - we forgot to create a PowerPoint deck for the TVs and were just going to turn them off, but Amy found my engagement photos on Facebook and created a slideshow the MORNING OF the wedding! Literally the sweetest. You’ll never find a more attentive team. We received SO many compliments from our friends and family about the cool, unique atmosphere of the Garden Theater - not many know about this Detroit treasure! Weeks later, we are still hearing from guests about how they were well-tended to, how beautiful the space was and how they’d like to return - which we definitely plan to do, as we originally found and fell in love with this venue from a charity event we attended years ago and are hoping to bring it back to the Garden for another year. ;) 5 big gold stars to you all!!! <3

I cannot rave about Garden Theater enough!! The venue is stunning and unique, and the staff are unmatched. They are completely customer focused and they're for every step of the way. Amy is so knowledgable and friendly, and BJ and Biko were on site for the wedding making it so easy. They use a site to help you do table set up so you know what will fit and where it will be. All in all, if they are in your budget, I can't recommend them enough. I had a wedding of about 140 people and it was the perfect size.

I went to The Garden Theater for a showcase event, and it was set up beautifully. Lots of vendors, food, and drinks, and good entertainment. There is even a "patio" type area outside. Looks like a great place for a show or event.

Great Venue Space in Detroit! This space is great for a wedding to a corporate dinner/party. Located on Woodward there is a parking deck guests can easily access as well as paid street parking. The bar space is large and the staff is quick to tend to guest orders. The catered passed hors d'oeuvres were great and the staff were friendly and professional. (If it is an option for your event order the southwest chicken egg rolls!) The venue space also provides a stage area with a podium and microphone if requested. And for warmer weather the space has a patio area as well!

The Garden Theater is a beautiful and welcome addition to Midtown, and to the local roster of performance venues. It's the perfect size - larger than the Majestic theater across the street, but still small enough to maintain an intimate feel. Dark, simple, and classic is how I'd describe the look of the theater. One bar stretched along the back of the room - the lines can get long for a drink but the bartenders are fast and efficient. It's a little nicer, classier than other venues of comparable size around town. The events hosted here are slightly more upscale and appear to target the mature young professional crowd. Marsha Ambrosius, a Remy Martin tasting expo, the annual Tux and Chucks black tie fundraiser, etc. I don't expect I will be seeing any raucous rock or rap shows on the calendar here. It's connected to the Grille at Midtown (which is excellent), making it easy to grab a drink or a bite before or after a show. The theater can be booked for private events, as well. In addition to the theater itself, there is a clean and spacious lobby as well as some large event rooms upstairs. Parking structure is just on the corner, but I've always been able to find a spot on the street as well. I've enjoyed my experience every time I've been here, and look forward to more shows and events at the Garden Theater to come!

Just had our Christmas party for aprox 300 ppl and the staff was amazing. Plenty of bartenders that no one had to wait and they picked up dishes as soon as they were put down. Everyone was so friendly and had a smile on their face all night. The venue itself was also great and a perfect place to host the Killer Flamingo's. Thank you Staff!

I recently got married at the Garden Theater and I couldn't have asked for a better or more stress-free experience. I did one walk through with my mother and husband when considering venues. We all immediately fell in love with the Garden Theater and booked it the next day. Most people would have thought that planning a wedding in only 6 months would be daunting, but the staff at the Garden Theater made sure that everything went smoothly. They provided other vendor suggestions when needed, made sure that our schedule was coordinated well with their staff, and were attentive the night of the event. They worked incredibly well with all of our other on site vendors to coordinate their arrivals and departures too. Both Amy and BJ were a pleasure to work with. The caterer was incredible - it was actually great wedding food and even as the Bride I got a chance to sit down and eat! The Garden Theater went above and beyond to accommodate any request we had. I couldn't have asked for a better experience because they provided everything we needed and made sure that we had the most special day. I even asked for a last minute lighting change - they made absolutely everything happen! Thank you again to everyone at the Garden Theater for all their hard work and attentiveness, it really showed and we appreciate it.

This venue has the worst bartenders!! They are allowed to actually make the customer wait until they finish a ten minute Facebook/text session on their phone before they serve you a drink. When you try to get the bar staffs attention, they threaten to not serve you??!! Fck this place, Party Dave will not be attending any future events at this location!

We just performed at the Garden Theatre with Mojo a couple weeks ago and I just wanted to send a huge THANK YOU to PHIL on the sound board. He was awesome and a pleasure to work with! It was a great event and the sound was on point, thanks Phil!!!!
