Great food good people good times this is one of those few places that are still around from back in the day Victor a great person he took care of us and we enjoyed the Hawaiian food at the café. Definitely that nostalgic classical bowling experience. This place has been around since 1948 and there is a must see bowling alley.

Such a clean, wonderful bowling alley. The owners are the most wonderful people. The coffee shop is like the ones on the island for sure. Good old-school Hawaiian Japanese food.

This place is the pinnacle of solutions to not knowing what to do with the next 30 minutes to 4 hours of your time. The pizza was killer, the billiards room was affordable, the arcade cabinets were also pretty enjoyable, and I found myself easily able to kill time I would have otherwise spent looking for the next place to drive to. Me and 3 friends played billiards for an hour for only 20 dollars and it was the highlight of the weekend

Old-school lanes with friendly service and fair prices. The rental shoes looked newer than most places. The snack bar’s fries are shockingly good for a bowling alley. It’s a great rainy-day plan or low-key weekday night. They play music but keep it at a comfortable level

Okay... to the uninitiated. This will sound ridiculous. However, I have been to Gardena Bowl hundreds of times. In all honesty bowled 3 times. Nothing against bowling. However the Cafe is HEAVEN ON EARTH. The best Japanese, Hawaiian, American, plus random specialty menus available. It is a perfect cozy diner where your guaranteed to leave happy. Case and point. I moved to OC and drive here for the food. Enough said. Go! Now! Go... your hungry anyways.

Went there for their diner which specializes in Hawaiian favorites. I had the eggs and Vienna sausages. I thought a Vienna Beef sausage, but it was the tiny ones from a can. Still very good though.

This is such a hidden gem! Tucked into the bowling alley, this cafe has amazing food with massive portions, it's no wonder it was so crowded when I came. The sausage patties were delicious and flavorful, I got them with the banana pecan pancakes and I may be biased since those are two of my favorite flavors but they were fluffy and perfect. I loved that the pancakes had actual banana too. The loco moco plate is iconic for a reason, the portion is massive and so filling. It's somewhat simple but flavorful and satisfying. All the servers were so friendly and energetic. Inside it felt like a cozy mom and pop diner. There was so many things on the menu I wanted to try I will definitely be back!

Oh my word this place is so good. Got it as a recommendation as a "place to eat on the drive back from LAX" and BOY did it deliver. They have many regulars and it's easy to see why! I got the butterfish, which came with a side of seaweed, rice and broccoli, and it was well portioned, well seasoned, and super well made! Looking forward to coming back!!!

Tucked away in the corner of the Bowling Alley, is one of the best hidden gems for breakfast/lunch. Parking can be a little tight, but there's enough parking! We got in around 10am on a Saturday, and it was busy busy! That's always a good sign in my book! Service was super friendly, just give a little time when it's busy, it's a decent amount of tables to get around. Here's what we ordered! Chicken Katsu Donburi: This was a comfy dish, adding a little heat, it made it perfect! Daily Special Chicken Katsu Curry: This was a comfort dish for sure. The vegetables were tender, the curry was great, that chicken was cooked thoroughly, overall a great dish! If you want some amazing Hawaiian Diner foods, I recommend this spot!

There are too many favorites here, but anything I choose is always delicious. Be sure to look at the "Daily Specials" board for even more great dishes. The pizza is only served as a to-go item, it's delicious, so remember this on your next take out night and get a pizza.

Gatekeeping is what I like to do. But this place deserves all the recognition! If you're a local from Hawaii and miss home, this is the place. It's real fitting being at a bowling alley. Diner is always packed but surprisingly you don't wait long. The food is so good, will come back to try more and different things. The ambiance is everything you would imagine if you know what diners are like in Hawaii

What a difference and day makes! A manager contacted me and encouraged me to come back. I can attest they must have just been having a bad day on my last visit a few days ago! We came back today (Saturday), seemed just as busy as before. We were greeted at the door, immediately seated, given menus, and drink orders taken. A short time later our food orders were take. Food came out pretty quick. I ordered Tempura Udon. Again, the Tempura was excellent. Udon was loaded with noodles in a light broth, perfect. Very large portions and I took the rest to go. My husband ordered the Portuguese Sausage Mix, basically a scrambled. They make the Portuguese sausage in house. I tried a bite, very good. They have a nice selection of hot sauces preset on the tables. Just what the egg dish needed. My husband thought it the dish was delicious and hard to believe he ate the whole thing! Generous portions! Very happy I gave Gardena Bowl another chance. Service was excellent and friendly. We used to come here many years ago, a few times a month, and it was one of our favorites. Lots of Japanese and Hawaiian dishes on their menu. Definitely coming back!

This little hole-in-the-wall has been around forever, and we finally got around to trying it. Late Saturday night there was no wait for a table, but you could tell how popular it is because the takeout orders were nonstop. We sat at the bar, which was fun since we got to watch all the action in the kitchen. We tried the loco moco, chicken katsu don, and the saimin combo with a beef skewer. After a long beach day, everything tasted amazing--super comforting and reminded us of the food we had in Hawaii. The service was awesome too. My son accidentally knocked over his water, and the waitress was so sweet about it--just smiled, said "it happens," and cleaned it up right away without giving us any attitude. Such a great spot! Definitely recommend, and we'll be back for sure.

I'm ashamed to say as a forever South Bay resident, I had never visited Gardena Bowl. That is until my husband introduced me several months ago. Instantly fell in love! How have I never been here before! Everything was amazing! Food was delicious, our server was kind and attentive, everyone was awesome and friendly! Even the other customers were awesome and friendly! I cannot wait to return here for a breakfast date with hubby! Hats off to the chefs and all the staff!

The food was very average. The chicken karaage was kind of dry and the chicken teriyaki was dry too. The Kalbi beef was ok and the donburi well average. We sown almost man hour to come out to have lunch and it was alittle of a disappointment. It was good but salty. I am cutting back on salt and bam there it is.

Dined in 10/4/25 and everything tasted great just like the last time. Service was also great! All staff were attentive and provided friendly service. Ambiance is relaxing. We arrived around 2pm on a Saturday and got seated, no waiting. This is a good time to come dine in and avoid crowds. We ordered beef teriyaki and tempura combo, wonton saimin combo which comes with 2 bbq sticks, garlic chicken and Portuguese fried rice. Everything tasted delicious! Definitely one of our favorite restaurants!

The loco moco with eggs over medium, grilled onions and substituted with bacon fried rice was probably one of the best loco moco's Ive had. My daughter got the chicken katsu loco moco with bacon fried rice and the beef patty was better. The beef patty was well seasoned (not salty), and not dry. The chicken katsu didn't have that much flavor, it was just okay.

A must go when in Gardena. I've only heard good things about this place so had to try. It's a diner located inside the Gardena bowling alley and immediately when we entered it reminded of us when we were back in Hawaii. Service is super friendly and efficient. Menu is vast and there's lots of options. I ended up getting the loco moco with Portuguese sausage and my partner got the Hawaiian French toast combo. Loco moco: (5/5) prob one of the best I've had in CA. I'm a big gravy person and they give a generous amount. Super flavorful and the Portuguese sausage is a good touch. Guy next to me got it with kimchi fried rice and might have to try that next time Hawaiian French toast combo: (5/5) 3 french toast pieces using Hawaiian bread and it with eggs with sausage. I liked how the French toast wasn't overbearingly sweet and it was fluffy We'll be back to try more and maybe bowl!

Just jumping on here to say don't pass up this Gardena gem I've been coming to the cafe for decades and it has been consistent in every good way. The cafe itself is spacious, brightly lit, with the best light blue upholstered booths and hard back seats around each table and counter seating is just classic. Plenty of room to sit but when it's crowded you'll have to wait. Came in for breakfast to meet up with an old co worker. Our server was great, very Gardena Bowl coded--nice, attentive but not pushy. Everything I've eaten here has been a hit--tsukemono, mac salad, chashu, fried rice, musubi; but today I had the bacon and egg sandwich (I added avocado) and had the mac salad instead of the fries (though those are good too). And there's a list of daily specials to choose from All this to say this place is everything a hometown cafe should be

I love the café because of the Hawaiian food options available. It felt like I was eating out of Zippy's. Very informal place with comfort food. I enjoyed my loco moco. I'll be back.

It's my first time to dine in a coffee shop inside at Gardena Bowling Alley having a great time and enjoying the food for breakfast and early lunch with my dad and my stepmom. I try the oxtail soup it's so delicious and it's so good and I like it!! I'll come back to dine in again next time! The service and ambience are amazing and friendly staff!

This place was amazing. Food portions are well worth the price, it's almost too much... almost. Everything tasted freshly made and the meats were all tender. My girlfriend and I ordered chicken katsu, bacon and pork fried rice, tanin danburi, and Hawaiian Royal rice. Everything tasted amazing. I love rice so I will say my favorite dishes were the rice dishes. The Hawaiian Royal rice dish was my top favorite as it serves great flavor and meats were tender. Service was top notch and the place felt clean! This place really gets busy so make sure you come early! Their menu is very extensive so there is something for everyone. I'd recommend getting the Hawaiian Royal rice & and katsu. Definitely coming back!

Always packed and always takes forever to get the food. It's worth it thought because it's actually pretty good. Favorite is the fried rice. Lots of food that could potentially be 2 meals. Would recommend

If you find a restaurant that looks like it shouldn't exist and yet it's been there for over a half a century you are going to have yourself a good time, and Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop is no exception. Why is there a diner in a bowling alley? I have no clue, but I do know that it is exactly what you want in a dinner - a down-home atmosphere, and unpretentious yet totally delicious food. It's got the feel of a place that all the locals know and love, and what more could you ask for in a diner? Their menu has a Hawaiian flare, and they specialize in their Portuguese Sausage Mixes - basically a large egg and sausage scramble served with rice and potatoes. Delicious stuff, but even their more traditional menu items like the French Toast and eggs were great so it seems like you can't really go wrong here. Though they serve breakfast all day, they also have an extensive lunch and dinner menu, in fact I'm honestly amazed that this small kitchen is able to pump out that many different dishes but they certainly sound great and I hope someday I'll have the opportunity to come back and try some of their other options. If you are in the Gardena area and looking for a killer breakfast or brunch that makes you feel like a local, do yourself a favor and find your way down to Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop.

Recently discovered this place. (Where have I been all this time?) Anyway, I'm glad I did - now I'm hooked! Lots of happy customers here. Its comforting environment, friendly service, and terrific menu selection make it a true South Bay gem. I've tried a number of things here, and have enjoyed almost everything. One standout I will mention is their Loco Moco, maybe the best version of this dish I've experienced. Their beef teriyaki is also amazing. My only (minor) disappointment is their mac salad, a little too heavy on the potato for me. Service is fantastic, but the awesome servers can be a little overwhelmed when the place is busy. Las Vegas is known as Hawaii's 9th island; well, Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop might just be its 10th!

Japanese diner food. How can you go wrong? Large portions, sprinkled with comfort foods like spam, Portuguese sausage, and eggs. We tried coming here at night but it was too crowded so we came back the next morning and we were glad we decided to come back again to try. We weren't sure if it was the bowling or the restaurant. Its located inside a bowling alley. It feels quite american diner like which is odd because they offer a lot of japanese food. Staff is friendly and service is quick. Their portions are huge and definitely filling. I found everything to be well seasoned and not too salty all things considered. There wasn't much of a wait when we got here early but there was a line forming by the time we left so would recommend getting here early or be prepared to wait a bit. There's parking offered but during the busy times, you may need to park on the street.

When my friends and I arrived, we had to wait a pretty long time for the waiter to take our drink order, then even longer for them to take our food order. The theme i guess you can call our experience is overcooked. I've been coming here ever since I can remember and never had such a horrible experience. My friends beef teriyaki was like chewing on leather, and her side of what was supposed to be teriyaki sauce, but was more of a jam consistency. My other friend got the egg foo young and chashu which he stated was overly dry as well. My chicken karaage was extremely over done as well. All the rice tasted old like it was day old rice by the texture. Ive never had a experience with the food here, but this has got me questioning honestly returning. Ill need to attempt their breakfast again soon before I make up my mind on returning.

Good food, good prices. Place is usually busy but the wait is not too long. It's not a fancy place, it's in a bowling alley LOL, but it's clean and nice. There are so so many asian/hawaiian places in the area but we usually pick this place. The women waitresses offer good service, the younger guys just so so. The busboy is great by the way.

I don't live in the south bay area anymore, but it's great to know some things haven't changed over the years. This is an amazing local spot where you can tell regulars come here often. It is a fairly small/tight space, but it's also attached to a small bowling alley...so you can't be that surprised. This place is awesome for any meal throughout the day and I have yet to come for breakfast, but if it's anything like dinner...it'll be just as delicious. Party of 2 on a Friday night wasn't too busy and was seated immediately. They have an extensive menu with a little bit of everything for everyone. Service is quick and friendly, food is amazing with generous portions. The garlic chicken was crispy and flavorful. Teriyaki chicken wasn't too sweet, just the right amount. They'll have specials occasionally too!

A bowling alley attached to a restaurant and with GOOD food??? It really can't get any better than this! I'd give 5 stars for this dish alone honestly. The slight spice kick from the Portuguese sausage was just perfection and the eggs are cooked real nice. Love the addition of chopped onions, accompanied by the white rice to balance the flavors, this dish is just THE dish to get. The service is also what makes this shop unique. It feels like a homey restaurant like you're at someone's house. Everyone is very nice and friendly. I would come back again and again if it were closer to me. If you haven't been, please come check them out!

Next to the bowling alley, Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop is an old school diner specializing in Hawaiian cuisine. The decor is pretty vintage, and the seating is a bit tightly spaced. The team provides fast and friendly service. We tried the signature dishes Loco Moco Chicken Cats, Garlic Chicken, and Hawaiian Royal. All were good, and the portion was generous. However, the flavor was quite heavy that it's hard to finish everything in one sitting. 3.5 stars bumped to 4 for fair pricing

I'll start by saying my server Savanna was great. 5 stars for her. She was the only one working as far as front of the house. It was pretty busy and she handled it like a boss. I had the teriyaki chicken and beef combo, Hawaiian French toast, and a side of kalbi ribs. The combo was disappointing. The chicken was very dry and had bones and cartilage all through out and I don't think it was supposed to be to be bone in chicken. The teriyaki sauce was good though. The broccoli was ice cold and pretty much raw. The beef was just ok. The Hawaiian French toast and the kalbi was great as always though. I usually get the loco moco and after this, I think I'll stick with it. Overall, I love Gardena bowl and I'll continue to eat there. Maybe just an off day for the kitchen. Great job Savanna!

Food is amazing always here. Service is always polite. They are attentive even how busy they get. I love it here! Two different tables had something fried (looked like wings) I should have asked. They looked good! #NextTime

Gardena Bowl is an iconic must stop for Hawaii locals living in the South Bay. Hawaiian Royale. A! Garlic chicken. A! Sweet Sour Wings. A! French Fries A+ Super ono food here. Lots of locals hanging out. Friendly service.

I used to come here all the time as a kid and it's been years since I've been back, but it still tastes the same. Love this place so much. The service is great and you feel like Ohana here. We got the side of lomi lomi which I wish had a little more salmon inside but still good. Also got the garlic chicken and Hawaiian royal which was fire. I usually get the bacon fried rice which is also amazing. Come check them out!! Oo and don't forget to order the butter mochi

Came here to meet a couple friends for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The coffee shop shares the building with Gardena Bowl. The coffee is a decent size, not too small or big. It was packed with hungry diners. Thankfully there was one table open which I quickly commandeered. We ordered Nabeyaki Udon, Chicken Katsu Loco Moco, Chicken Teriyaki and Egg Foo Young combo and Saimin. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and egg foo young. The chicken teriyaki pieces were hearty and not drenched in teriyaki sauce. It was a good balance. The egg foo young was also good too. I initially thought there was too much gravy, but I actually wanted more. LOL. I enjoyed my meal and would order it again. My friends were happy with their choices and finished their meals. None of us left hungry. Throughout our meal, I noticed a lot of people were picking up to go orders. The menu is extensive offering Hawaiian, Japanese and American dishes. The price is reasonable and portions are large. This is definitely a Gardena local gem.

Whenever I'm missing flavors of home (Hawai'i) I'm gonna be rushing down to this spot. If you're familiar with Aiea Bowl (Pearl City) well then this is exactly what it is. Same vibes and ono plate lunches. Decided to test out how legit it is and ordered laulau, poi, and saimin bowl - ono me ono! As a local, born & I raised in Hawai'i, this really hit the spot. Seems like theyre always busy, that should speak to how delicious it is as it draws a crowd. Staff took a bit of time to get to us, no biggie, seemed short handed that day and they are all very friendly. Went on a weekend late afternoon and caught the tail end of rush hour. There's plenty parking, go bowling or play pool after you grind.

We came here to just try it out randomly. It's a cute little dinner looking spot. It is very tiny inside. It seems to get pretty busy. Our waitress was kind and seems like she runs it alone. The food was really good actually, we also got the garlic chicken and it was so so yummy, definitely recommend.

Party of five dining in for a late lunch (3:30) on a Sunday after a long day of shopping at the nearby Del Amo Mall. The restaurant was fairly empty and we were all pretty hungry. Ordered wonton min combo, tempura dinner, tempura combo with chicken Teri, loco moco and a royale. Everyone loved their food and were amazed at the large portion sizes. Everything exceeded expectations as it's getting harder to find good quality authentic Hawaiian/Japanese food anywhere nowadays. Prices are def in line with quality and quantity of food. Service was spot on. Ambiance is local diner with vinyl tabletops, lumpy leather seats, and plastic water cups. Old school diner vibes at their best. Def recommend.

What more can be said then this place is all you've heard. Homestyle cooking at old school prices. Honest servings for your your hard earned dollars. Just like it was, it is still here. Go with the garlic chicken and any of the specials. You really cannot order wrong here. Fast and friendly Gardena Bowl Cafe is a pure delight.

Located inside of a bowling alley, Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop is a casual, small-business focused on American brunch items and dishes ranging from Hawaiian to Chinese and Japanese cuisine. In general, the portion sizes are generous, making up for the somewhat high prices. I was able to split my teriyaki and egg foo young combo into two meals. In terms of flavor, everything was really tasty here. The Lau Lau and beef teriyaki were both tender. The fried rice was a little salty but when paired with the teriyaki beef or egg foo young, it was fine. Definitely would go back!

First time having the banana pecan pancakes here and wow were they good! Homemade batter, soft and fluffy pancakes very tasty. I usually get the Hawaiian Royale here but this did not disappoint. Service was really good our server was very helpful and attentive.

Two words that will change your life- GARLIC CHICKEN!! It's must try and upgrade to fried rice!! FIRE!! The food here is really delicious and prices are reasonable. Parking can be a challenge if there is some kind of bowling tournament. The restaurant shares the same space with the bowling alley. Overall, pretty much everything I've had here is too good! Generous portions and friendly service.

As a Hawaiian transplant who was raised on real local Hawaiian food I can 100% tell you to try dis place!! First off the vibe is classic old school Hawaiian style coffee shop with counter service if you want! Love it! This place has so many items on the menu to choose from but my go to dishes are the Loco Moco, Tempura, Teri beef sandwich are all bomb!! But make sure to try the rib eye Teri steak plate! I substitute the mixes steam veggies for potato/mac salad! That's as close to the real thing as it gets! Just about everything on the menu is ono so check it out and the service is excellent !

Im from the local area and have always heard about this spot but finally made it out. So happy I finally made a stop with my family, everyone loved it! We got lucky and there was a table available right away without having to wait. It stays constantly busy during the time we were there. Their menu is pretty extensive, so many options a little of everything. We had great service from our waiter he was very attentive and friendly. We ordered teriyaki beef with fried rice, loco moco with beef patty, Hawaiian French toast with Portuguese sausage and eggs, banana pecan pancakes and bacon fried rice. Everything was delicious, this will def be one of our fave spots now, can't wait to try more items off the menu! Cute little diner/cafe feel seems small but lots of seating. If you haven't been I'd recommend making a stop!

So many food choices, especially Hawaiian inspired dishes! Great service, nice family vibe, friendly staff. Huge food portions! This place has been here for many, many years! I believe this was once featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!

Came in an hour before closing. Chill vibes, can get pretty busy. Looks like they have breakfast available all day which is great. I tried something new to me, the Beef Teri and egg foo young, I give it a 3/5 stars. The Hawaiian royal was a god 4/5, personally like how much ginger it came with lol.

We have always loved and eaten at Gardena Bowl it's one of our favorites spots to eat. This time we went about 5pm and went in to dine and sat down but the guys in there never brought us a menu so we went up and got it. Waiter came almost ten minutes later to take our order and only two of us and only for people inside. My order came and it was wrong but I just ate and our drinks never came and we had to ask for them. BAD service and he was lucky we still have him a tip! Probably will not return and will have to pass the word! We paid almost sixty bucks and simply just not worth it! Bye GB!

I didn't check out the bowling alley but the restaurant was so good! I love that it has that mom and pop feel. And it's nice to see a lot of old folks come in and enjoy the food. The prices are good and the portions are big! I got the Loco Moco and brought home leftovers. I would definitely come again the next time I'm in town.

Garlic chicken and saimin are a must try! Service takes a while for them to come and check on you if you need anything or make refills but the food is always good!

Found another great Hawaiian restaurant in the area. The Loco Moco and chicken katsu donburi don were so delicious. The coffee was fresh and the service was great.

Food is always good & service excellent. Been going there for years & never disappointed. Love their chashu (bbq pork) always juicy & lean. My fav. Royal Hawaiian great as always.
