Gardena Grödnerhof Hotel & Spa (Ortisei, Alps / Dolomites) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Dolomites are home to lodges of all descriptions, from quaint old wooden contraptions to ultra-modern eco-lodges. But there’s nothing else quite like the Gardena Grödnerhof Gourmet & Spa Hotel. Constructed in 1923, it’s about as ornate as these things can be; a 21st-century restoration left its majestic silhouette intact, even as it updated its color palette and its interior finishes." - Tablet Hotels

We had the most incredible stay at this delightful property! Our time in Ortisei was not long enough so we will certainly be back and when we return I will check the availability of this hotel first!! When they say it is a family run business it is no exaggeration. The service is incomparable and we believe it is because of the family care and connection, Our meals were delicious, the room so comfortable (I fell asleep to the sound of a rushing river outside the balcony each night) and they were so helpful with hiking advice-which was the reason for our stop there, The hotel is located right across from the center of town which means it's convenient but QUIET. And lastly the spa! It's the perfect spot to relax and rebuild after a physically challenging day on the mountain. It has sauna, cold plunge, steam room, hot tub and the most gorgeous indoor pool you will ever see, If you have the opportunity to stay here do not miss it.

After reading all the rave reviews I recognize I’m in the minority but I really didn’t care for this hotel. I’ll start by pointing out the service is great. Each employee was wonderful and helpful. But the hotel has very little charm and the location is kind of unpleasant given that it’s right in the middle of a busy town and there aren’t any wonderful mountain views at all. We were first given a room that opened right onto a courtyard where people were sitting on lounge chairs just feet from our room. We could hear every word and it felt like they were practically in our room. We asked for a different room which they nicely gave us but we had booked a suite and ended up in a much smaller room. The bathrooms are also kind of awful. The showers are raised and plastic and similar to a Motel 6. I’m not knocking Motel 6 but this hotel is really expensive! For these prices it should be luxurious and it wasn’t. I’d much rather stay at a smaller, quainter inn in the mountains next time.

I had the pleasure of staying at this incredible luxury hotel for four nights while mountain cycling in the area – an unforgettable experience. The location is breathtaking, and the service and comfort were truly five-star.||A special thanks goes to Walter Bramezza, the restaurant manager, who made every breakfast and evening visit feel personal and welcoming. Walter is a true gentleman – kind, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. His healthy food suggestions, like the house-made kefir and local goat yogurt, were a highlight. He brings heart and professionalism to the guest experience and is a real asset to the hotel.||One evening, I was also warmly served by Andrea and Giusi, a Sardinian couple at the Four Seasons restaurant. Their warmth and attentive service made the night memorable, and it was heartening to hear how happy they are working at the hotel – a true reflection of great management.

Just WOW- from start to finish, an epic hotel experience. The room was over the top outstanding with every amenity and comfort possible (a pillow menu!!!). Every staff member we encountered was kind, helpful, and amazingly responsive. The breakfast buffet was unmatched, as was the spa. If you choose to stay here, you are in for the treat of a lifetime!!!

Great hotel with helpful, caring and professional staff. The reception and concierge are very knowledgeable about the area and helpful in making the arrangements for daily activities. We hired mountain bikes straight at the hotel and toured with a super nice and knowledgable hotel guide Luca whom I would highly recommend. ||We tried the restaurants which were amazing and made even better with fantastic hosts and great food. Signor Bramezza was an absolutely fantastic host during the day and a truly delightful gentleman.||I wish I could remember everyone’s names but special thanks to Si. Bramezza, Vicky, Giusi, Andrea, Luca, all the reception staff, the restaurants, and to be fair anyone we interacted with were absolutely amazing, and I definitely look forward to visiting again soon.

I will never forget my experience at this resort. Worth every penny and continued to surprise me. If you’re thinking about booking a night or two, think no more, just do it. You will not regret it. The staff feels like family and the location was amazing. Ask for Elena at the bar! ;)

We spent six nights at the hotel Gardena as a family of four with two teenagers. We stayed in the Chalet Attico suite which was perfect for four people. The hotel spa I cannot rave about enough. It was probably one of the best spa experiences from the sauna, cold plunge, pool, massages, massages on a waterbed table, hair blowouts, divine ! The ski setup was so easy. The instructors booked for us were fabulous. The terrain was perfect and we arrived for some great spring snow and bluebird days. We did the Sellaronda which is a must ! Had fabulous mountain lunches, getting into town was just a few steps away the local grocer had all the snacks we needed. Probably the most fun for our entire family of varying degrees of ski ability was to take our last day when the conditions on the mountain were not that great was to go sledging ! That was a blast. I’m so glad we tried that the kids had smiles for hours after. Our last night in town there was a Party in the main square which was super fun to dance and mingle with the locals. I would highly recommend this hotel for spring family skiing.

No Air Conditioning at a 5-Star Hotel? Unbelievable. We stayed at Hotel Gardena Grödnerhof expecting refined comfort and personal warmth, as promised by their self-description as a "family-run" hotel. The reality was quite different — and disappointing. To begin with, the hotel is part of the Relais & Châteaux group, which makes the “family atmosphere” claim feel more like a marketing label than an authentic experience. The biggest shock? No air conditioning, despite outside temperatures reaching 32°C. At this level, it’s simply unacceptable and made our stay extremely uncomfortable. The bathroom was clearly from another era — at least 25 years old — and in desperate need of renovation. The shower setup was a safety hazard, borderline dangerous and so cramped and poorly designed that it felt like a joke. Or a trap. The spa area was modern and relaxing, and the indoor-only pool was elegant, but frankly pointless in the middle of summer with no outdoor pool or space to enjoy the sun. Lastly, they charged €6 for a bottle of tap water at dinner. That’s not luxury — that’s just ridiculous. This hotel might carry a prestigious label, but the experience felt out of touch, overpriced, and far from what a real 5-star service should offer. Definitely not returning.
