"Gardiner House is a 21-room hotel located on Lees Wharf in Newport, Rhode Island. The hotel is situated next to the International Yacht Restoration School. It was opened late last year by proprietors Wirt Blaffer and Howard Cushing, who have a deep connection to the town. The interior design of Gardiner House is inspired by The Ledges, the 1860s family home of Howard Cushing. The hotel features a digitally reproduced mural from the original Cushing family home, which adds a unique historical and artistic touch to its design." - Lilah Ramzi

Wow! We had breakfast at the Gardner house and it was simply delicious! Fluffy eggs, homemade croissants, fresh orange juice, good coffee, sausages, bacon, teas. The light is beautiful in the dining room in the morning, great views of the boats, and a very hospitable staff! We felt so welcome and comfortable. A great way to start your day! And did you know? There’s also an awesome Pilates class at 8 am!

Went with friends and family for Sunday brunch. Delicious food and drinks, gorgeous atmosphere, outstanding staff! The head chef, Miguel, is a treasure and maitre’d Vidal, is the epitome of hospitality. As a year round local, we’ve previously been for drinks Studio bar, and drinks and bites at the Flora bar, and dinner for 10 at Flora. Highly recommend!

We spent a wonderful Christmas here. The rooms are beautiful, clean and so comfortable, the restaurant is phenomenal - but what really makes this place stand out is the staff. Too many to thank, but Matt at the bar, Angel and Dominic at the front really stand out. Matt is a true mixologist, great conversationalist, and really went above and beyond for us to be comfortable while we stayed. Dominic and Angel were so polite and kind throughout our stay. Highly recommend this place.

We went for thanksgiving holiday 2024 the quality and portions of food were very very poor. Surprised and shocked at what we were being served considering the surroundings, service and upscale feel for a $90 price fixe cost. The wild mushroom soup lacked any flavor, severely under seasoned, the turkey was barely average, the ham dry and looked like it was sitting for hours. (2 small 1/4 size slices served as the main)The sides were average at best and under seasoned, the stuffing balls were dry, flavorless, and various sizes. Presentation looked like amateur home cooking. There was nothing gourmet about the meal, looked like cafeteria food. Our total was approx $350 for 3 ppl, no alcohol just 2 sodas. The meal ended with ice cold slices of pumpkin pie (literary super cold) watery in texture with the tiniest mini scoop of ice cream. I’m literally shocked that food of that quality and presentation left the kitchen of such a restaurant. Look up the reviews by Hendrikus, Carleigh NYC, and Philip B, confirms it all.

We stopped by this new spot to grab a drink on the outside patio overlooking the marina and it was breathtakingly beautiful. We loved the ambiance and atmosphere and will definitely be back for dinner next time! The decor is 10/10 and very aesthetic!

A nice hotel located in downtown Newport. Big, comfy beds. Super clean and well maintained. Parking garage on site. The bar on the first floor is fun. Room price is exorbitant but still gets very good marks all-around.

Birthday brunch disaster. Venue is spectacular, food was mediocre but serviceable. Service and support abysmal. Guests had to wait for an empty coffee pot to be refilled, then for the half&half to be refilled, then for coffee cups to be replenished. And then the whole cycle started all over again! Not enough plates so diners stood waiting for plates and place settings - 20 minutes! How long could it possibly take to go find plates and silverware in a restaurant??? Empty dishes piled up on tables - I actually brought mine to the kitchen door and handed them to someone so that I could make room for a dessert plate. Don’t go here.

Yelp
We went in to check out the restaurant Flora and got a beautiful table on the rooftop - it was a picture perfect evening complemented by our waitress Alix ! Her recommendations on the peach Buratta summer salad were spot on. The bartender made me a raspberry margarita that was so good I had more than one. We had the tuna carpaccio- it was the best we've ever had! The aioli on it my husband wanted to eat everyday! I am a very critical steak tartar fan having had it many places and this one was spot on!! I had the octopus for my entree and loved the flavors and especially the combination of hot and cold. My husband had the pounded filet and enjoyed every bite. We look forward to putting this restaurant on our weekly rotation. The inside bar looks super inviting for fall and winter we can't wait to try it!

Yelp
Gardiner House is such an incredible place to stay in Newport. If you aren't able to stay, I highly recommend after-dinner drinks at the bar. The bartenders are so friendly and you can even ask for hot chocolate chip cookies with your cocktail! Flora, the restaurant, has by far the best food in Newport. It has recently opened and is already the hottest place in town! Can't recommend Gardiner House and Flora enough!

Yelp
"A gem" said one guest. "best hotel in New England" said another guest. I stayed at the hotel for a week over 4th of July. The hotel lives up the hype. The location is excellent, parking abundant. The views of the waterfront are quite special. The wifi worked extremely well. The breakfast was elegant, flavorful, with piping hot coffee. The service was top notch. When I needed dining reservations the front desk worked constantly to find the right restaurant and make reservations. The valet took good care of my parking needs. The front desk got all my bags up from the car. The air-conditioned air made a welcome respite from the balmier days in Newport. The pillows, sheets, and towels best I have ever had in a hotel. The in room fridge and mini bar were fully stocked. The Studio Bar was excellent, I went there almost every night and loved Flora- I ate there two nights. I cannot recommend Garnier House highly enough after 30 years of summering in Newport- this is now my favorite Hotel, bar and restaurant- all in one place.
