Amazing girls’ getaway at Gardiner House! I had the best time at Gardiner House with my girlfriends, honestly one of the most luxurious spots in Newport! The staff made us feel like total stars from the moment we checked in. I stayed in the Juliette Room, and it was gorgeous. super comfy Matouk linens, cozy robes and Ortigia bath products. You can really tell they pay attention to every little detail. Dinner at Flora was incredible! Definitely try the steak tartare and octopus to start. After dinner, we hung out at Studio Bar, which has such a chill, stylish vibe. The bartenders were amazing, and I had the best cosmo ever. If you’re looking for a luxury stay in Newport I can’t recommend Gardiner House enough!

The room was beautiful and the morning view of the sunrise was great. I stayed in the Whitney Suite and I couldn't recommend it enough. There is a bathtub and a rainfall shower, the bathtub was great. Check-in was easy and quick. I was able to enjoy all amenities like the Studio Bar and Flora. Kay in the bar was very attentive and nice. Briana in Flora was an amazing server! The bed and bedding were to die for I would love to stay again. Thanks to everyone at Gardiner, you have an amazing team and provide a top notch experience!

The Gardiner House is a quietly elegant home away from home. We spent a few nights over New Years and will definitely be back! Every staff member went out of their way to ensure our comfort. Fleur, their restaurant is intimate with a well thought out menu that is delicious and unique. Kudos to the chef for the outstanding creations! The staff provided excellent service. Our room was beautifully appointed and the bed was heavenly! The Studio Bar is lively and quite comfortable with delicious light bites and cocktails. It is just steps away from Thames Street and all the fun shopping. It was such a lovely visit!

This was my second stay at Gardiner House, having first visited a year earlier, and it was once again outstanding. I had forgotten just how beautiful the hotel is, with its soaring ceilings, panoramic windows, and wide, graceful hallways. My room was spacious and filled with light, creating an open, airy atmosphere. The decor throughout is rich and vibrant, making Gardiner House feel like a true modern classic. Just as memorable was the warmth and welcome of the staff. And dinner was delicious. Thank you Gardiner House. I look forward to returning.

This review is for the hotel, not the restaurant (which I would give five stars without hesitation). We stayed here for our anniversary in October. Based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews and how beautiful the property looked online, we were genuinely excited to spend a couple of nights here. Unfortunately, for nearly $1,000 per night, the experience fell well short of expectations. At check-in, the concierge seemed completely uninterested. There was no welcome, no overview of the hotel, and no helpful information offered- it genuinely felt like we were inconveniencing her just by being there. We've stayed at other hotels in a similar price range, where the service is consistently warm, attentive, and polished, so this was especially disappointing. The valet was far more welcoming and professional than the front desk. After a short walk around town, we returned to the hotel and weren't acknowledged at all, the concierge kept her head down on her phone. I can appreciate a no-fuss stay where guests aren't overbothered, but for the price point and the fact that this was a special anniversary trip, being completely ignored wasn't what we expected. A simple greeting or acknowledgment would have gone a long way. The hotel itself is very pretty. The furnishings are lovely, and the room was nice and comfortable. The views were nothing particularly special; it appears the ocean-facing side is reserved for a conference/wedding? space. Still, we did enjoy the room. There aren't many amenities overall. Or if there were, we were not told of them. Like many Newport hotels, valet parking is the only option and comes with a daily fee. The valet team was excellent- friendly, accommodating, and consistent throughout our stay. The restaurant deserves special mention: the staff was outstanding, and the food was excellent. Truly a five-star experience there- would def go back to dine with them. The location is also a positive, close enough to everything without being directly on the busy street. However, overall, we wouldn't choose to stay here again at this price point. Upon checkout, we noticed a charming bar/library space that we didn't even realize was available to guests as no one mentioned it to us during check-in. A beautiful hotel is wonderful, but to be considered luxury, the service needs to match the setting. Unfortunately, that piece was missing for us. If we wanted an experience that anyone could offer, we could have gone anywhere else, for much less.

Beautiful Hotel with wonderful views and decor. Spacious room with high ceiling and comfortable bed. Large bathroom with great high pressure rain shower. Room stocked with water, snacks, & assorted beverages and liquor. All Staff members were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Very nice lounge and restaurant. Great location on the water within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Can't wait to return for another stay.

Overall the hotel, restaurant, and bar area are beautiful. The manager of Flora is beyond friendly and very professional. Same with the wait staff and bartenders. The food is definitely some of the best, if not thee best, that we’ve had in Newport. Can’t recommend Flora enough.||For the hotel, the rooms are small but big enough for two for sure. Very clean. Quiet. Nice bathrooms. ||The only reason my review is missing a star is because the front desk staff and valet maybe don’t realize they’re working at a luxury hotel. Not mean, but certainly not friendly either. My husband got the car ahead of me so I walked into the lobby alone (and to tip the valet) and he just kind of stared at me. Didn’t offer to help, didn’t hold the door open, but was quick to take a tip! He was very young but still could at least pretend like he cares. The woman at the front desk acted the same. When I asked to have our towels changed, she said ok but similar to the valet, definitely acted like she was doing me a favor. It’s just odd treatment for this caliber of a hotel.||Overall, might stay at the hotel again but will definitely be back for Flora.

We stay at The Gardiner House quite often, as we love visiting Newport and have close friends who live there. We usually alternate between The Vanderbilt and The Gardiner House, but I have always preferred The Gardiner House because of its proximity to the water, its phenomenal restaurant, and its brighter, more welcoming atmosphere. Our stay in October 2025 was lovely, which made our most recent experience in December 2025 particularly disappointing.|My fiancé and I brought my mother for an overnight stay as a birthday gift, and several changes and issues caught us off guard. We were surprised to learn that guests are now charged for parking, which had never been the case during our previous stays. Additionally, we were extremely disappointed to find out at breakfast that it is no longer included in the hotel rate.|Unfortunately, the checkout experience further soured our stay. The two women working at the front desk were inattentive and seemed uninterested in assisting us. They refused to provide a printed copy of our receipt and attempted to charge us again for parking, despite the fact that we had already paid the valet upon arrival. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and unprofessional.|Given these changes and the decline in service, we are unlikely to stay at The Gardiner House again on future trips to Newport.

We went in to check out the restaurant Flora and got a beautiful table on the rooftop - it was a picture perfect evening complemented by our waitress Alix ! Her recommendations on the peach Buratta summer salad were spot on. The bartender made me a raspberry margarita that was so good I had more than one. We had the tuna carpaccio- it was the best we've ever had! The aioli on it my husband wanted to eat everyday! I am a very critical steak tartar fan having had it many places and this one was spot on!! I had the octopus for my entree and loved the flavors and especially the combination of hot and cold. My husband had the pounded filet and enjoyed every bite. We look forward to putting this restaurant on our weekly rotation. The inside bar looks super inviting for fall and winter we can't wait to try it!

Gardiner House is such an incredible place to stay in Newport. If you aren't able to stay, I highly recommend after-dinner drinks at the bar. The bartenders are so friendly and you can even ask for hot chocolate chip cookies with your cocktail! Flora, the restaurant, has by far the best food in Newport. It has recently opened and is already the hottest place in town! Can't recommend Gardiner House and Flora enough!

"A gem" said one guest. "best hotel in New England" said another guest. I stayed at the hotel for a week over 4th of July. The hotel lives up the hype. The location is excellent, parking abundant. The views of the waterfront are quite special. The wifi worked extremely well. The breakfast was elegant, flavorful, with piping hot coffee. The service was top notch. When I needed dining reservations the front desk worked constantly to find the right restaurant and make reservations. The valet took good care of my parking needs. The front desk got all my bags up from the car. The air-conditioned air made a welcome respite from the balmier days in Newport. The pillows, sheets, and towels best I have ever had in a hotel. The in room fridge and mini bar were fully stocked. The Studio Bar was excellent, I went there almost every night and loved Flora- I ate there two nights. I cannot recommend Garnier House highly enough after 30 years of summering in Newport- this is now my favorite Hotel, bar and restaurant- all in one place.
