The Absolute Best Dishes We Ate at New Restaurants in 2023 | Bon Appétit

"A tender whole fish bathed in coconut milk curry came out of the kitchen in an aluminum tray. It was at once sweet and mellow from simmered coconut milk and tingling with the heat of scotch bonnet pepper." - ByThe Bon Appétit Staff & Contributors

This museum is outstanding as it explores the Garifuna culture which covers four countries: Honduras, Nicarauga, Guatemala & Belize. Appointments are highly recommended as the museum is a converted home. Entry is free but donations are eagerly accepted.

This place is a place of learning, and community. The Garifuna Museum teaches about the history of the Garifuna people from Central America, originally from St. Vincent and Grenadine. It has four rooms, the main area, in where you learn about the History timeline, but also about the current history of the Garifuna people. The artifact room, which showcases items and lore on object used within the Garifuna culture for farming, culinary, and other arts. There is also a learning room, with a library, and media, and the art room. I enjoyed my tour, and I volunteer here from time to time. So I would recommend it for others to visit.

We visited on a Saturday and had a tour scheduled that was informative in teaching us about a culture I did not know much about. Cynthia did a wonderful job sharing her culture with us and teaching us about the Garifuna people. I highly recommend this museum for all people, children and adults, to learn about this fascinating culture.
