One of the Garrett stores in the Chicago downtown area that’s relatively easy to spot and decently sized. They’ve got quite a handful of options of single flavours and mixing 2 together. It was my first time trying out Garrett’s popcron and I got the Garrett Mix which was a perfect blend of salty and sweet that without one would be too overpowering in 1 direction. Place is clean and the workers have a system of making the process quick with 1 at the cashier and 1-2 talking with customers and packing up the popcorn. I also found the inside of the store neat and worth looking around at if you’re in line and got time. They’ve got sizes from Petite, Classic, Family, Friends, and Celebration. I got the Petite one and shared with another person and found the size made us both full.

Garrett Popcorn was amazing! I really appreciated that they let me sample a few flavours before I made my decision. I tried the Garrett Mix and the Caramel Pecan—both were incredible. I ended up buying a small sealed tin of the Garrett Mix to bring home, and they even gave me a slight discount. The customer service was fantastic—friendly, helpful, and made the whole experience feel special. Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful time on my visit to Chicago with my sisters. We had to have the popcorn. Well, the experience was awful. We had stale popcorn cheese popcorn. I tried calling and even submitted our receipts to the lady. However, it seemed as if they were going to replace the popcorn until they asked if we had the leftovers. I was in awe when they said that. Also, they said don’t buy it in the bag if anyone didn’t know. They say for it to be fresh it must be in a Tin can, whattttt..This is bad for business. Try your popcorn before leaving the store everyone.

A long time staple seen in the Chicago area, I enjoyed Garrett’s lightly salted popcorn on a flight back to Boston. Good taste. The product does not look like the ones on the bag, but this is nothing new in advertising.

What an extremely rude lady working here!! This was the worst experience in Chicago otherwise I absolutely loved the city. We are tourists and heard about this famous popcorn and as soon as we got into this popcorn store and took some pictures the lady started to yell at us to order. And she screamed 3-4 more times to stand in line and order, I had to look back if we were blocking a line for other people, but no it was just us trying to understand what to order and what the price was. The mix popcorn I got barely had any cheese popcorn in it. Almost 99% caramel. Now I am at O’hare airport and found another Garrett popcorn and now I see how they are making a mix popcorn shaking the bag thoroughly and how friendly they are to the customers. Never shop at this location!

I would not buy any popcorn from this location unless they let you have a sample first, and good luck with that because the lady that served me while I was there was not very personable and just rude. I was in Chicago for a short vacation and right before leaving to come home I purchased 2 Jumbo Garrett Mix bags, one for my family and one for a friend. I left immediately to drive home (5 hours) and when I got home and we opened the bag to enjoy our popcorn the cheese popcorn was so stale we had to throw it away. So I am now out $37.80 because it is impossible for me to take it back within 24 hours of purchase.

I made the mistake of stopping at this location right before heading to the airport. I picked up several bags of the cheese-and-caramel mix as gifts for friends and family. The next day barely 18 hours later I brought a bag into the office, only to have a colleague tell me the cheese popcorn tasted stale. I thought that was impossible… until I tasted it myself. Sure enough it stuck to my molars and was stale. The caramel popcorn was crunchy and definitely fresh. Curious (and annoyed), I checked the reviews for this location (across from the Riu’s Hotel) and saw I wasn’t alone and plenty of other customers have voiced the same complaint of stale popcorn. Unfortunately, I’m now stuck with multiple bags I’m too embarrassed to give as gifts. They’ll probably end up as compost… or pigeon feed.

Garret Popcorn Shops are all over Chicago. They are very popular and a must stop when visiting Chicago. The popcorn is always warm and fresh. I recommend the cheese and carmel mix! It's delicious

Flew in yesterday for a conference, checked in, dumped my bags and headed out to Garretts off Michigan. Oh man, the smell when you walk in is a warm delicious hug. I ordered a large with 3/4 cheese and 1/4 caramel. The perfect combination of cheesy goodness with just a touch of sweetness. Large bag any flavor is only $9.99. Embarrassingly, when I got back to my room I ate half the bag. But hey, no witnesses. I really like that the cheese doesn't stick to your fingers like Cheetos. At this rate, I'll have to buy another bag tomorrow.

The quality and flavor are always top notch. The staff is always friendly and patient. My absolute favorite is the mix of cheddar and caramel. Come on!!! Whenever you see Garrett Popcorn, get it! You won't regret it because it is addictive!

I just received a tin of Garrett's Popcorn in the mail as a Christmas gift; what a great idea for the snacker who's hard to shop for! I could barely get it out of the box before I ripped into it, and was instantly transported back to my time in Chicago. I have three flavors, butter, cheddar, and caramel! There are many imitators but these guys have popcorn figured out. They're equally as delicious as I remembered!

There's always a line but it goes quickly with an efficient staff and streamlined process. While I like the seasonal hot cocoa and white chocolate options, the classic Garrett mix is a hands down favorite. Great gift, stocking stuffer sizes too and if visiting from out of town, the Chicago skyline designed tin will definitely be a hit for the folks back home.

This popcorn was definitely the best popcorn I've ever had. The Garrett Mix comes with the flavors 'CheeseCorn' and 'CaramelCrisp'. Each kernel is generously coated with flavor. The CheeseCorn was so so so so so good it's almost hard to explain because it left me SPEECHLESS. The cheese just tasted great and it didn't give me an artificial cheese puff vibe ya know? The CaramelCrisp was absolutely COVERED in caramel and the crunchiness of it gave some nice texture paired with the softness of the CheeseCorn popcorn. These were amazing by themselves but paired together they were HEAVENLY!!!! HEAVENLYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!! I wish I could have bought a bigger tin of this but it wouldn't have fit in my carry-on Guess I have to go back to Chicago!! Also- look at how cute my little tin is They had 4 color options and the navy blue was is the original design and usually on these food reviews I go for the most classic dish on the menu at each place I go to but for some reason this pink tin was calling my name more than the original blue tin so I HAD to get it and have no regrets. I love her. ‍

Unsure which location they used, so writing the review on this one. Went out to Chicago for work a couple of weeks back, more or less, and at the hotel they were hosting us at, we had many little goodies present. Among them were these cute little popcorn bags from Garrett Popcorn Shops. I grabbed one of these bags and have been snacking on it the last couple of days. This is pretty good popcorn. The mix I have has cheddar popcorn, as well as caramel popcorn. I'm no popcorn aficionado, but this is hard to not eat entirely in one sitting. I'm seriously a fan. I'm here wondering now how great the popcorn tastes when it's fresh, given how much I'm raving about a goodie bag.

A travel group I belong to suggested getting Garrett's popcorn while I'm in town for work. I wanted to try the popcorn so I got a bag for $5 or so and it was freshly scooped. I got the spicy cheesecorn (limited flavor). It was very tasty and good. I decided to come back and buy 3 tins as they last 2 weeks in their sealed containers. I chose the most popular which is the Garrett mix (cheesecorn with caramel corn). It does cost a lot more to get the popcorn in a tin ($13.50) but I had limited space in my carry on luggage and I needed the popcorn to last longer, so I felt it was worth it for my situation. That and I had promised that I would bring this back! The service was friendly, fast and efficient. There always seems to be a line but it moves fast.

One of Oprah's favorite things- a Chicago classic The classic caramel corn with cheddar is it delicious sweet and savory combination . I've also tried the cashew caramel corn, which is delicious . Sometimes they have seasonal specials . It would be great if they kept a spicy cheese or just spicy on the menu permanently..

Garrett Popcorn on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago is one of my favorite spots. I never miss a chance to stop by when I'm in the area. You can always count on fresh, delicious popcorn--and long lines!

FLAVOR (2/5): Came here because everyone told me it's a Chicago classic and wanted to bring some souvenirs home too. I love kettle corn so this was a big disappointment for me. The caramel one was coated in so much sugar it sticks to your teeth. The butter popcorn was so stale I couldn't believe it even after they brought a new batch out, it was still stale lol. There was a customer that came back while I was there to tell the employees to try their popcorn because it's stale. It should have been a big enough warning for stay away. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (2/5): This store is super small, it's a one direction go in and come out place. It has a huge popcorn bucket which is kind of cute I guess. Otherwise the store smelled like musk and old butter. SERVICE (2/5): We wanted to sample their flavors because it was our first time coming here but the worker gave us one flavor and disappeared for another 5 minutes. Then another person came, did the same thing and we just stood there awkwardly. The guy that did end us helping us with our order didn't even seal it fully. The popcorn became even more stale than it already was. TAKEAWAYS: Half of their popcorn flavor was out when we got there. Save your money because the popcorn here was actually not worth it.

I always have to stop by Garrett's whenever I'm visiting Chicago. This location was fast & efficient. Only thing I regret is not purchasing a bigger tin. I got the classic cheddar/caramel mix. You can never go wrong with that choice!

Whenever you visit Chicago be sure to put Garrett's popcorn on your list. They have multiple locations including the airport. They have some of the best and freshest popcorn. You can get a sample and try it out before you decide on your favorite flavor. They offer various sizes in bags or tin containers. It's worth the trip. Last month, I placed my first order from Garrett Popcorn Shops. I had my shipment sent to the hotel that I was staying at in Eagan, MN. The from address on the box matched this store. Before this shipment, I normally got my Garrett Popcorn fix travelling through Chicago O'Hare International Airport. I typically get a large bag of caramel crisp popcorn at a Garrett's store before I take my last flight segment home. I decided to join Garrett's mailing list. For Valentine's Day, it had a special on a tin bundle. It included a classic tin containing Chicago (caramel and cheese) popcorn mix and a petite tin that had chocolate popcorn. It was at a reduced price and shipping was free. Sold! I am a regular guest at a hotel in Eagan. Staff are used to my shipping one or two packages to the hotel each time I stay there. Sure enough. this shipment made it there a day before I had arrived. I fetched it on Valentine's Day from the front desk. When you get tins, the option to choose your tin design is there. Although the traditional blue stripes would have been nice, I went with the pink stripe scheme. The tins were so beautiful that I debated whether to toss them or bring them back. I chose the latter. They travelled well in my luggage. They are perfect for storage, and protect your precious popcorn or whatever in them. On Garrett's online site, it has recommendations for reusing the tins. Using them for succulents was one suggestion. I'm thinking that you'd need to drill holes at the bottom for drainage. Obviously, clean them first! Anyway, during my five days in Eagan, followed by a couple of days in Winnipeg, I snacked on both the Chicago and chocolate mixes. The former had the best buttery caramel and cheesy popcorn. The chocolate was so good and surprisingly not ridiculously sugary. I drove a lot. I recommend snacking on popcorn on road trips. As a popcorn fan, Garrett's is the best. It's nice that when I'm not at Chicago O'Hare, I can still get my fix by having popcorn its shipped to me wherever I am. (91)

While visiting Chicago this past weekend, Garrett Popcorn was definitely on my list to visit. Given the fact that our hotel was only a few blocks away we were able to to make it happen. As you walk inside you can't help but smell the delicious smell of caramel. Inside the glass cases they had caramel, cheese and buttered popcorn on display. I ordered a bag of the Garrett Mix which consisted of half caramel, half cheese. They fill your bag to the top leaving just enough room for them to fold over the top to seal for freshness. Somehow I managed to not touch the popcorn until I returned home which was 3 days later and it was still fresh. If you haven't tried Garrett Popcorn you have to put it on your list of things to try. If you're visiting and forget to stop by before you leave they have shops inside of the airport for you to purchase in your way back home.

I found out about Garrett's from my daughter as she goes to the location in Las Vegas. I knew they were headquartered in Chicago so I went to the Michigan Ave. location. It was July 4th and there was concern they would be open but when I turned the corner once the savory smell it my nose, I knew I was in luck. I stopped by close to closing on a Tuesday night, the staff was friendly but seemed concerned when I ordered three jumbo bags of cheese corn and a large bag of Garrett mix. They have a big sign up that says it's for immediate consumption- I'm not sure if this is new. They don't have to worry, we're frequent Garrett popcorn customers and we've bought many bags to bring home as well as many tins online shipped right to our house. I will say the bags that are packed at the airport have been more tightly packed both filling wise and the way they twist up the top to keep is sealed. Maybe the person helping me was newer, or maybe they really just wanted me to eat the popcorn right away. I already dropped off the Garrett mix with my grandparents who are loving it and the cheddar will be devoured by my husband as soon as I get home. I highly recommend giving it a try if you've never been. If you are flying out of Chicago you can also find stands in the airport. I was secretly hoping to try the apple caramel crisp seasonal flavor while I was here, but I didn't see it. Maybe I'll order some online.

FIRST LOCATION: 1949 - West Madison in downtown Chicago MY ORDER EXPERIENCE As we were exploring the streets of Chicago, we passed this store where I wanted to have popcorn, and that is when I knew when my cousin told me how popular this popcorn place was. When I explored their website, I learned that this is a women-owned business and how she brought her secret family popcorn recipes to people in Windy City. As I walked into the store, they had various types of popcorn, which came in different sizes and kinds. They had CheeseCorn, Caramel Crisp, Plain, Buttery, Pecan Caramel Crisp, and many other types. They had small, medium, large, and jumbo, which came in both bags and tins. I got a mix of CheeseCorn and CaramelCrisp based on my cousin's suggestion, which is called "Garrett Mix." This was created by fans in 1977 and was initially called Chicago Mix. I got a small size. The popcorn was packed in a plastic bag. The popcorn tastes good with a variation of cheese and sweet popcorn. Overall, the popcorn tastes good. The store setting was to buy and take out, just like any other regular store. They had different popcorn varieties that were displayed at the store. The prices seemed a little higher to me. I would recommend this place to any tourists who are visiting the Windy City. Besides this location, they have various other locations that are spread out throughout the city.

I couldn't come to Chicago and not try the famous popcorn. I got a small bag of cheddar and a second of butter for our road trip out of Chicago into Michigan. Perfect road trip snack! I can't decide which flavor I like better and just swapped between the two. Only downside is that the bags don't keep the popcorn fresh for very long and stale popcorn is no good. I've now learned to bring a ziploc bag to store the popcorn and maximize the freshness.

Sampled the caramel pecan, caramel cashew, and the buttery popcorn. All yummy and fresh with a nice crunch and no stale bits. I left with a large bag of cheese popcorn since I cannot do too much sweet. I definitely want to go back for another taste of the buttery popcorn. The worker said the popcorn lasts about 2 weeks in the tins. I found that out after I bought the bag. To get it fresh he said that the Garrett's at the airport opens early. Maybe I'll give that a try to fly some home to share as fresh as possible.

Being a popcorn fanatic ofcourse everyone told me to come here when I finally made it to Chicago. I ordered a medium bag of Garretts mix (cheddar and caramel popcorn) and small bag of butter popcorn. Omg I wish I ordered more! The butter popcorn was perfectly buttery like movie theater style with a perfect mix of butter and salt. The Garretts mix was also delicious. Best caramel corn I've prob ever had. Cheddar cheese is perfection. Yummmmm can't wait to come back one day and get tins!

The best popcorn ever! I always get the Garrett mix although everything looks and smells good. The location is perfect . The popcorn tastes the freshest here. Whenever I'm down in the area I stop to get it and bring it home. You must get it fresh to really enjoy the value and taste of this popcorn. Buy just enough and eat it the same evening Yum

I honestly don't know what else to say about Garrett's that hasn't already been said. There was definitely a long line here, but it moves quick. There was two guys working and both were friendly and got us in and out. My go to here is of course their Garrett Mix. You get a mix of their cheddar and caramel popcorn. It's the best thing to order. There's something about the sweetness from the caramel, and cheesiness & saltiness from the cheddar popcorn that just seems to work perfectly. They have other flavors that I have yet to try. I'm pretty sure they're good, but I always just seem to crave the Garrett Mix. If you haven't termed Garrett's by now, you're definitely missing out.

75% of my luggage on the ORD-SFO trip home from Chicago was Garrett's. Take my money and give me the smores, strawberry, caramel, butter, kettle, Garrett mix, and nut mix!

Imagine my surprise when I opened the box and found two tins of popcorn - Garrett Mix (Fan Favorite) and Chocolate Strawberry (Limited Batch). If you haven't had Garrett's gourmet popcorn you are seriously missing out. It is hands down THE BEST! Garrett Popcorn shops were started by a female entrepreneur. She developed the now-famous recipes in her kitchen. The popcorn is cooked in small batches throughout the day for sale in stores and cooked the same day for orders that are shipped, so what you get us guaranteed to be fresh. The Garrett Mix contained Cheese Corn & Caramel Crisp. The cheese popcorn was fluffy, buttery & cheesy. The Caramel Crisp had a rich buttery caramel flavor. The two together was a delightful combination of salty & sweet. The Chocolate Strawberry was a combo made in heaven. The flavors stood out. I also tried the Chocolate with the Caramel and the Strawberry with the Caramel. Each bite was delicious and so flavorful. You could taste the quality. If you haven't tried Garrett's gourmet popcorn you are missing out! All other popcorn pales in comparison. And, if you want to impress someone and make their day - send a tin as a gift. I'm going back to stuffing my face now. Nom, nom, nom!!!!

I haven't had Garrett's popcorn in a long time so I was glad I was able to grab some bags for me and family for gifts. Wasn't too busy when we came, around 10 AM. We got 2 large bags of the Garrett Mix and 1 large bag of CheeseCorn. They lasted more than a day in our luggage and did not go stale at all so I don't know how they do it but it lasts. Not much you can say that hasn't really been said except it's some of the best popcorn period. Everyone in the store was friendly and helped us get in and out in less than 5 minutes. I wish I had more access to it but I was just glad to be able to get what I could.

Aug 3. Before closing we stopped here to get some butter popcorn and pecan crisp popcorn. Omg, butter popcorn was so stale but the pecan was not. So disappointing and my husband loves his popcorn. Tip: try the popcorn before buying. First time experiencing stale popcorn from Garrett's...even Vegas place was fresh. The 2 stars are for the nice staff who served stale butter popcorn and for the pecan crisp. Happy snacking!!

Ahhh Garrett's.... I travel through DFW infrequently so I had completely forgotten that there was a Garrett here in Terminal B and was quite excited to see it! I was super tired but had to make a stop at Garrett for my Chicago Mix (cheddar and caramel popcorn). It was fresh and quite a nice treat! Five bucks for the small size wasn't bad, especially as the small size is actually enough to share with others.

I love the place I haven't been in years and I remember waiting in a long line. Now we walked right in and got a small cheddar $5.99 and a buttered popcorn $3.49. Great place if you love popcorn I don't think you can beat the taste of their fresh popped popcorn.

A Chicago must. It's best to go to a store than to pick up at the airport because the airport line is always ridiculously long. It was quick in and out here. This location on the mag mile is convenient and easy to get to! Love Garrett's mix and I do think the crunch lasts longer than just a day even without the tin.

Dedicated to preserving their secret family recipes, they only use high-quality, local ingredients to create their delicious popcorn in old-fashioned copper kettles. Made fresh daily in small batches, their gourmet popcorn is gluten free, preservative free, and full of delicious flavors. Flavorful cheddary, buttery, and caramelly popcorn- what's not to like? As the popularly addicting Chi- town snack, Garrett's gets all of the love, especially when west coasters like me come to visit and get multiple samples of these delicious kernels while walking down the Magnificent Mile. The caramel popcorn is coated in the best buttery glaze and when combined with the yummy cheesiness of the cheddar one, you just can't go wrong. Of course I took some home. Craving some right now just writing about it! Also, they offer delivery to all U.S. states including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Puerto Rico and much of Canada.

A Chicago staple and I had to have it. It was fresh and delicious. They were quick and super helpful! Store was clean and comfortable.

We learned about the popcorn during our architecture boat tour and it's a Chicago popcorn mix of cheddar and caramel popcorn. This is quite popular and you'll see it everywhere and it's worth the hype. There's a good combination of salt and sweetness balance. This would be a great snack to bring home but ensure you get one that actually seals and stuff. I ordered the small to try and while it was crunchy, because of the gaps when I sealed it, the cheddar popcorn became soft. If you find one, get the tin box option to bring back home.

Let me preface this by stating that I am a HUGE fan of Garrett Popcorn, specifically the Garrett Mix (a combination of CaramelCrisp and CheeseCorn, formerly known as Chicago Mix). Granted, there is a location local to the state of Michigan. I prefer to purchase it when I travel to Chicago. My experience was less than stellar at this location. Typically, the smell of the popcorn is wafting in the air as you approach and enter the store. I didn't notice it at all. There wasn't an extremely long line, which I was grateful for. The line moved along with ease and my son placed our order consisting of: (1) Large CaramelCrisp (1) Large Garrett Mix (1) Medium Garrett Mix (1) Small Garrett Mix We traveled back to Michigan after making our purchase there. I was disappointed to find huge clusters of the CaramelCrisp within my bag that tastes of burnt caramel. I checked with my son who had purchased the Large CaramelCrisp for himself and sadly he reported the same. My mom and aunt who I'd purchased the small and medium Garrett Mix for indicated the same. This is the first experience here that I've had that was such a disappointment.

Caramel crisp with pecan was over cooked, burnt, and tasted bitter! Contacted Garrett they told me to contact Postmates. So in addition to delivering the popcorn to me, Postmates apparently popped it as well!

This is not your ordinary specialty popcorn store. The cheese popcorn is fully coated with their cheese mixture, when paired with their caramel popcorn, this combination is simply amazing. They call this their Garrett mix. Now I understand why there are addicts in this world. If I lived in Chicago, I would have to stay far away from this wonderful and highly addictive establishment.

I love this popcorn - I can't leave chicago without snagging some! The cheddar cheese is so good because it is fully coated. They can ship it and I have thought about it to get the fix in between making the 5 hour drive for concerts.

Big fan pointed at the line helped cool us down. Well-staffed with young, happy people. The popcorn is delicious. The 50/50 mix we bought for our cat sitting neighbors has a 50/50 chance of making the four hour flight back home.

Ordered popcorn to be delivered to my friend staying in Chicago. Garrett's website asked what date I wanted it delivered. I gave instructions for date and place she was staying including that it should be delivered to front desk, with first name and the name of the conference she was attending. Not only did it arrive late, it went to hotel mailroom. I asked for my $60+ refund and they refused to honor that because I should have called the hotel to let them know. WHY when there were delivery instructions as part of the order form? For the amount of business they do, I'm baffled that they won't issue a refund for an item that was not received. That seems so simple for a company this big. Funny thing is, had I complained about the quality, I would get a refund. Bad customer service and have now lost a loyal customer!!

You hear the stories believe everything that you've ever heard about this place. The Chicago mix is a must have. This is what you should think of when you hear the word popcorn. For those of you not able to travel Garrett's actually ships. Several different variations to choose from I'm certain you will find something you like.

We stopped by for a tour in Chicago and I've had Garrett's before. It is tasty, the service was good and the ambiance was to be expected...a nice chill location with minimal noise....just the typical individuals enjoying their popcorn

Visiting from California, I brought home a tin on the plane with me to indulge at home :-) I picked it up fresh right when they opened just after 10 AM. I was told that the popcorn last longest in the tin (2 weeks). And they packed it! I got the Chicago mix $33 bucks. They taped the tin and bagged it for the plane :-p Friday night I opened the tin to a mixture of cheese and caramel corn. OH MAN!!! It was so good! Addicting! One cheese kernel, one caramel kernel eaten together....yum!!! I loved it so much I ordered 2 more tins to be shipped to my house lol :-p I had no issues with the popcorn being stale or not tasting good. I had it fresh from the store and shopped. Both were great! I have ordered 2 times since I've been home hahahaha This popcorn is trouble....in a yummy way! *Shipping...So you know if you order on a Monday you will have it at your doorstep on Thursday :-p I am a forever fan!!!
