Garrett Popcorn Shops

This is the first time I’ve been disappointed! For decades, I have gotten Garrett’s every time I’ve visited or even flown through Chicago, often multiple bags for myself and others. It is - hands down - the best! They have always - both in town and at the airports - made an effort to give you a fully packed bag, which seems in keeping with their premium prices. However, the bags I just received at the shop in Terminal B at Midway airport can only be described as lame. If you’ve ever bought Garrett’s from a shop, you’ll understand how this bag looks different. Their commitment to excellence has always been apparent, which makes this experience all the more disappointing. The crew there needs some help!

I'm so sick and tired of these businesses short-changing the customers. My sister flew out of Midway heading back to Atlanta so I asked her to get me and my daughter some Garrett Popcorn. First off my daughter's bag of popcorn was not filled up. Both of us sale are popcorn was disgusting. Too many kernels in the bag. Also, the caramel in my mix was stale. And, mine is definitely not a mix with all that cheese popcorn I want my money back it's so nasty!

I stopped at Garrett's in Chicago Midway Airport, and despite a small line, it moved quickly. Garrett Popcorn’s Caramel Cashew mix was worth the stop—a delicious balance of rich, buttery caramel-coated popcorn and crunchy, whole roasted cashews. The caramel has a perfect crackle, and the fresh cashews add a savory, nutty contrast to balance the sweetness. Though a bit pricey, the quality and flavor make it an ideal treat for caramel popcorn fans.

First time in Chicago. Thought I'd try this popcorn. Cheese was a little strange at first, but give it a few bites. It really comes on as you go. Strong flavor. Caramel and nuts were good also. Biggest impression at this location (near gate B15) was the young lady that served us. Her name was Kenya. In telling you this young lady should be giving classes on customer service. From her beaming smile to friendly and welcoming interaction. Kenya was the epitome of "come again" service.

I’ve kinda been stalking this company for a while. Ordering online can be quite expensive for just popcorn. Luckily there was a store on my layover. The popcorn is fresh, and heavily flavored. Serving it didn’t take long. I just wish the workers were as friendly as me. No smile, no hello, just depression.

I like Garrett's popcorn, I think it is better than the other popcorn place at the airport and cheaper. However, more help is needed at the shop. There was one person working who had to take orders, scoop the popcorn then ring up the customer. I had been waiting in line and there were still 6 people in front of me plus the person currently ordering. That customer had ordered 2 bags of popcorn, a large tin of 3 kinds of popcorn and was then ordering another large tin. All of these had to be filled by the clerk. At that point, I figured I would not have enough time to purchase from Garret's make it back to the other concourse in time. Other people were also getting out of line.

I love Garrett’s popcorn but this location only gets a 3/5. Yes the service sucks. I asked if they can substitute the plain caramel with the pecan caramel in a mixed bag. I would have paid the difference. They said the pecan caramel has to be in its own bag. When I decided on a mixed bag, they forgot to add butter to the mix so I only got cheddar and plain caramel. 5/5 for the food. Service is like a 1/5. Staff needs to be re-trained ASAP on good customer service.

Carmel popcorn mixed with cheese popcorn. Sounds weird like it would be a mashed up mess, but it is like Stacy Lattisaw and Johnny Gill...a perfect combination. The salty savory cheese is the perfect foil for the cloyingly sweet, when solo, caramel. It is addictive. Super fresh popcorn with huge kernels makes it even better. I tried the buttery flavor but it was just good, not life-altering like the cheese/caramel. I will try other flavor, maybe, one of these days. I wish they had fresh butter for the plain that you can add at the stand. The line at the airport moves fast. There are a couple of stands, but this one was by the Southwest flights. Just sniff, you will smell it. The staff was nice and the prices a little high, but well worth it. Get the biggest bag you can fit in your carry-on and be sure to get some little bags for friends and family back home (and for the flight). Five stars for my favorite popcorn other than what I make at home.

We had a layover in the Midway Chicago airport, and I got a small bag of buttery Garrett popcorn for a snack. Like everything in an airport, it is pricey, but I felt like I got a good portion for the price. The smallest size bag is still shareable, but my husband prefers Chicago mix, so I ate the leftovers the next day- still delicious! I'm not sure how many days it keeps, but I would recommend erring on the safe side with a smaller size. Garrett's popcorn if you don't want a whole meal, but also don't want to spend money on a packaged snack from a shop. I love buying local products when possible, even on an airport layover.

I gave this two stars nearly based on the service. Awful!!!!! Neither server were friendly. They didn't fill either of our large bags. When questioned, all I got was a glare. All the other locations pack them much fuller. She didn't even take the time to mix the two flavors. Two shakes was all. Wow Anyone who knows the Garrett standard knows it's better than that. When paying, the server never asked if we wanted separate bags. When requested, she said it would be a dollar extra. Really???? Not. Of course who would pay for that!! So rude. I am clearly disgusted with this location. I usually give Garrett a four star but I clearly cannot give this location that. I would've given it one star but I'll give two for flavor. Awful experience and I HOPE they read their reviews.

There's not a lot to say other than services extremely good product is extremely good The people that were working, there were very attentive to all those waiting for some Garrett popcorn . Once I have mine, it was fresh and I enjoyed it not much else to say.

Concourse B Near Gate 1 I have been to multiple Garrett locations and am a hugh out of state fan! This location's staff has attitude, under-fills bags compare to other locations and tries to nickel and dime you. They don't even mix up the Garrett Mix as other locations do. Such a disappointment!

Anytime I'm at Midway or O'Hare I have to stop at Garrett's for my popcorn (or in Chicago)! Midway, located at gates B1, O'Hare located in United terminal gate B7. Follow the popcorn aroma's to this shop, you won't be disappointed. Always long lines, but the team seems to work quickly. I recommend the cheddar popcorn or the caramel corn (buttery and caramely). My favorite is the City Mix, they mix both caramel corn and cheddar popcorn in the bag. It's packaged in a wax paper and a paper bag, so it stays fresh and crunchy for at least 3 days. They sell various sizes from a small bag to a 5 gallon tin (like this will fit under your airplane seat?) perhaps the overhead storage? My favorite popcorn shop.

This popcorn was spectacular, and the price was not bad either. One of the employees worked like a machine with an incredible memory, while the lady at the register was so incredibly sweet. She saw that I was struggling with all of my purchases from other shops, so she gave me a big sturdy bag. Amazing! Let me re-iterate the butter popcorn was delicious!

The best popcorn EVER!!! I just went to Chicago over the weekend to see a Bears game and could not go home without stopping at Garretts to grabl some bags of popcorn. We bought some for us and some for my mom (for babysitting the dogs while we were gone) and some for our daughter (who also helped with the dogs). They were so happy and they loved it. Neither of them had ever had it before. They cannot wait to try more flavors. We went with the original this time because it's the BEST!! They also have some cool new tins but we didn't purchase any this time!! Check them out if you have never been. You won't be sorry!!

The best part about a layover in Chicago is the opportunity to pop into a Garretts for popcorn. Here's the thing: It's stupid expensive for what it is. The experience is engineered to make you buy more than you need or want. And at the end of the day, it's maybe more than a little bit gross with greasy orange cheese powder that literally stains your fingers so powerfully that there isn't a known quantity of napkins that can help get you clean. So here's the answer: Get the smallest size possible. Thank me later. Personally, I always ask for a modified version of the Chicago Mix. For me a 1:1 ratio of cheese to caramel just doesn't work. As potent as the cheese may be, that caramel is so ridiculously sweet that even a paired piece of the orange goo can't compete with the sticky sweet sugary goo. I need two pieces of "cheese" to make the one piece of "caramel" palatable. And the inverse of that is just as true. I need one piece of the "caramel" to make two pieces of the "cheese" enjoyable. On their own, neither would be worth the calories. One is far too salty and orange. The other is way too sweet. So I ask for a modified mix with two parts cheese to one part caramel. And I fastidiously eat my bites three popped kernels at a time. Which is how I know when I get down to the bottom of a bag, how well the clerk did in abiding by my ridiculous wishes. In downtown Chicago, they do very well. Here at the airport? Maybe not as much. C'est la vie. When you are flying through this is still the only option worth a damn. So maybe splurge on one size up from the smallest, just to make sure.

This location has become a regular spot as we pass through during flights out and home. They're open early so it's easy to grab some popcorn on the go, even when you have morning flights. The giant Garrett sign out front is fun to snap a photo with and even when it's busy the line moves quickly. Their staff members are really nice as well and on my latest trip I saw some of the same people working both times I stopped by, and both times they had me leaving with a big smile and plenty of popcorn. They have all the classic flavors and it's all fresh and ready to eat. The smaller bags are great for snacking at the airport and the Jumbo bags are perfect for taking home for plenty of snacks to come. They do offer the tins here as well, but if you're travelling still the smaller tins or bags are the way to go. The big tins are great if you're at your final destination, you can also have them shipped to you online.

Damn good popcorn and counter service. This Chicago mix was fresh and exactly what I hope for in a decadent afternoon snack/ dinner. It's clean, organized, and the line moves fast. Yum!

I bought popcorn and a water. Once I opened the water was frozen. I had grabbed it from their refrigerator. I went back to tell them and they said, once you open we can't do anything about it. Not even giving me a second look. So as thirsty as I was, I had to just take my frozen block of water.

If you have a sweet-tooth then I highly recommend that you wear blinders, while traipsing through the Chicago Midway airport. I passed the first location, but I couldn't pass up the second one. It's all premium popcorn, so pay extra for the pecan crunch (EPIC). I was a bit sheepish while standing in line, as if I was being cleared by border security. I hid the evidence in my roller bag, found a sparsely populated area, and proceeded to crunch away. A clumsy moment resulted in a few precious pieces hitting the ground. I restrained myself. This place is like the beignet place in the New Orleans airport. It preys on unsuspecting, weak-willed, sugar addicts like.....people I know. Good stuff!!

You can't do wrong with Garrett's popcorn. Specifically, the Chicago mix! Even scooping from the bottom of the container, all of my popcorn was fresh and yummy. The staff were okay, and all of the stars went to the popcorn. The staff did not want to be there and were not very nice. When you asked a question, they acted like like we were stupid for not already knowing the answer.

I was so sad to not visit Garrett's Popcorn when it was right across from our hotel. Fortunately, we had extra time at the airport and I was able to snag a bag of mixed popcorn! Oooo my heart was so happy! I got the Garrett mix which was caramel and cheese popcorn. I loved the cheese more and my boyfriend loved the caramel more which worked out perfectly. It was so good, I wish they had some branches in Cali!

I always forget to stop here when travelling through Midway concourse B. Love their Garrett mix of caramel and cheese and can't resist getting a bag to take home. $17 for a jumbo bag, but worth the treat. They do a good job of keeping the line moving - one person to take your order and scoop, a second to bag, and another to ring you up. Itoves fast and totally worth the wait.

***Late post from my Oct 2023 East Coast trip*** After getting my food from Big City Chicken at Chicago Midway International Airport - MDW, I started walking to my gate to eat my food and wait for my flight. On my way, I noticed Garrett Popcorn Shop. What a cute shop! I've never heard of them in the past. Perhaps they are only based out of Chicago. Anyway, there weren't many people in line at the time so perfect for me. However, after I left, tons of people got in line. I must have attracting energy to bring in customers (j/k). I'm sure Garrett Popcorn has made a name for themselves to attract customers on their own. I bought 4 large bags of the Garrett Mix (most popular) at $8.99 per bag. This mix basically is a combination of their cheese corn and caramel crisp popcorn. WOW... YUMMY gourmet popcorn! They are addicting. They also have other flavors such as buttery, pecan caramel crisp, and walnut caramel crisp. I wish I had asked for samples of the other flavors. It just means I have to come back here in the future LOL. They have small, medium, jumbo, and tin sizes, too. I just googled them... we can order their popcorn online... nice! I may have to get some for the new year. Staff was very nice and pleasant. Prices are very reasonable. As for location, I understand Garrett Popcorn is a Chicago tradition, but please come on over to So Cal... we love to have you! Thank you for sharing your famous gourmet popcorn with the world!!! Admittedly, I am not a huge popcorn fan. But on my visit to Chicago, I had to give Garrett's a try and I am converted! Okay, maybe not all the way, but I'll always be down to get some Garrett moving forward. I think this location in terminal B is a great location. It's one last chance for visitors to Chicago to buy this popular Chicago snack before they board their flight back to their original destination. I highly recommend the Garrett Mix which consists of a mixture of cheddar and caramel flavor. Personally, I love the caramel flavor more but the cheddar is also pretty solid. I appreciate that they double bag it up for you so the popcorn will stay fresh longer! Got a large back for about $10 which is a pretty good deal imo.

THE best popcorn I've ever had. Garrett's is a Chicago staple snack food. I have been coming here since I was a kid. This location is inside Midway Airport near the Gate B area. The buttery aroma and sweet smell of caramel gets me every time. I've ordered the same item...Large Chicago Mix, cheddar and caramel together. The team knows how to scoops a perfect mixture. So good. Garrett's now ships popcorn across country but nothing is like getting it fresh out the kettle. If you are from out of town flying in to Chicago, make sure to put Garrets on the list

Fan-favorite. The small bags cost only $5.49, making it affordable to give as a souvenir to your family & friends. You can find this store close to B3 gate at Chicago Midway Airport.

Located in Concourse B expect a long wait for this popcorn! From what we gathered from other travelers this place just recently opened. We purchased 2 Medium bags, one Carmel crisp the other the famous mix. Although we smapled we actually taste when we get home!

If you are in Chicago, you have to grab Garrett's! I was excited to see the airport location and grabbed a jumbo bag fo the Garrett Mix. The service was great allnof the staff was friendly and attentive. I was shocked that the jumbo bag was only $16 in the airport.

We had a layover at the Midway Airport. 1st time I tried it. I'm a vegan so was extremely happy that thier butter popcorn is vegan. Excellent!

My friends and I shared the medium bag of pecan caramel crisp popcorn. It was pretty good and definitely on the very sweet side. A lot of the pieces clumped up together. I liked the whole pecans in there. Pretty good popcorn but wasn't too special. Could definitely get something similar at local farmers' markets.

Have to get this popcorn when in Chicago, even if it just the airport. It smells so good! I would say the cheese corn is not good after a couple days. The caramel corn probably holds up a little better. It's best fresh!

I was having second thoughts after the last bag I brought at O'hare didnt taste good. I ended up taking a chance a got a bag at Midway. Man that's the cheese popcorn taste I remember. I ended up going back before my flight left and purchased another bag for my Monday night class. Per Garrett's website: While none of our recipes contain pork, lard, or alcohol ingredients worldwide, halal certification is handled at the country level. Garrett Popcorn is halal certified in the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. Garrett Popcorn does not currently have halal certification in the United States. Typical Garrett popcorn.. Always a treat to get a medium bag of Caramel cashew. My wife loves the blend mix (cheese/caramel). Prices are on the high side, but it's actually worth it. But it depends on how much your into popcorn.

I'm trying to understand how they became famous or how they are a favorite cuz that's not what I experienced. The popcorn stand is across from B1 Gate. Flavors aren't extensive. Just 3. Not good selections especially if you have a nut allergy. I was hungry but didn't wanna walk to the other concourses. If you're from MARYIAND, Fischers Popcorn is by far the best. I was disappointed and I'm glad I got the smaller bag for like $6. The Nuts on Clark is better, they even passed out samples. Service: is meh. The staff aren't very welcoming or friendly. Would I come back? NO. If you're at the airport go to Nuts on Clark.

With a layover at MDW I was really hoping for some popcorn! I was bummed when I read the hours show open at 10am I happened to see a woman walking by with a bag and walked over only to see they were open! The employee confirmed they open at 6am daily and the hours weren't updated. The joy of fresh popcorn! A small bag of the garret mix or cheese corn is $5.49 and then $7.49 for medium. They pack the bags nicely for travel. If you want a plastic carry bag it's an extra $1.50 now! Look for Garret's just opposite gate B2 in concourse B. The staff was friendly!

Great tasting and has the all famous Chicago mix popcorn! Or simply called here the Garrett Mix :-) Did you know that popcorn is the Illinois state snack? :-)

This popcorn is THE CHAMPION POPCORN OF ALL. If there was a playoff style bracket, Garrett would come out on top. My personal favorite is the cheese popcorn but the secretly vegan buttery popcorn is a great runner up! The pecan caramel corn is crunchy and decadent!

AIRPORT Location!! AIRPORT! Can't male this up!!! Young man order taker mixer, bagger, and cashier... while the girl on the swept around him for at least 10 minutes... with 33 people in line!

Tonight I got stuck at Chicago airport and when I got here it was 9:30 so everything was closed but as I was walking I saw that the ladies at Garrett's Popcorn wasn't quite closed yet, one young girl was cleaning while the other girl was finishing up with a customer. I came in and begged her to let me buy a bag and I told her I was stuck all night at the airport. She felt sorry for me and sold me a bag. I know she didn't have to but she did. I don't have her name but I wanted to recognize both girls. They are companionate and kind. I didn't get to eat lunch and nothing was open for dinner so this is what I have. There was another store that was closing up but she could have cared less. These girls don't know how appreciative I was. I wanted them to know they made a difference . When my flight attendant found out it was my first trip to Chicago, he told me I had to stop at a Garrett popcorn shop. He said there's one in the city that constantly has long lines, but they had recently opened one up in the airport. I had a lot of time to kill on my flight back so I hopped in line at the shop. The line tends to be variable: at one point it was really long and when I walked back again, it was very short. The signature flavor is a caramel and cheese, that they insist tastes better than it sounds. I'm sure that's true, but I decided to go with the caramel and cashew version. I've always liked caramel corn, but I wasn't sure if this version would be worth the price. It was definitely tastier and fresher than what I've had before, and the quality was great! Because it's a bit pricey, I wouldn't buy it all the time for a snack, but for an occasional treat, it was perfect! The family loved it when I brought it home, and now I've been craving it for weeks!

Over-rated! Cheddar popcorn was stale. The lady taking orders and filling the bags had a bit of an attitude. She tries to be efficient and takes the order of the next person in line while she scoops popcorn for the current customer. She ending up screwing up my order and the order of the customer ahead of me. The customer in front of me had ordered 2 small bags of popcorn but was given 2 large bags. The lady who took my order shouted, "small mixed" to the lady ringing me up. I ordered a large bag . My goodness, if you can't multitask then what's the point of rushing people with their orders. Pure incompetence!

Incredibly disappointed by Garretts. Ordered a gift tin online and received a confirmation email. Never received an email that my order was shipped nor delivered and when I found out it had been delivered a few days before but was not there, they basically told me "sorry, we don't care" and that I should have purchased the theft protection. No accountability on their end for not notifying me that it was on the way or delivered. I tried to get in touch with their customer service and the woman was both rude and un-empathetic. I'm bummed since I've been ordering Garrett's my whole life but I won't be anymore after this experience. Please know that they deliver your popcorn without notification and in the original tin so anyone can take it and enjoy it. Please review your company policy and update how you do business so others don't have to experience this as well.

Every time I visit Chicago I got to get my popcorn! Now I can't lie I wasn't always a fan of Garrett's until I tried the nut mix. It's soooo good. Love it. Line is always long but moves pretty quickly. They also give samples!

Garrett's is okay, it is overrated. Buccees (TX thing) popcorn is better! I will try it again the next time I'm in Chicago.

A great addition to Midway airport. Located directly across from gate B1. Today I was excited to grab a bag of mix to bring home with my after a weekend trip to Chicago. Line moved fast thanks to quick & efficient staff. Popcorn tasted exactly like I remembered it.... Delicious! Thank you Garrett's popcorn staff for my favorite Chicago treat.

I do this EVERYONE in this terminal had a bag of popcorn..... and I see why. Quick service, reasonable pricing, friendly staff. An overall pleasant experience.

Nuts on Clark beat's Garrett! Best popcorn, bigger pieces and hands down better flavor. Nuts on Clark is the place to go, not Garretts
