Tech did not fix the issue we had with our air handler. Left without making it so that our air handler would turn on/off via the thermostat.
Charged:
$100 (Diagnostic)
$75 (Labor)
$85 (Part)
$89 (Part)
Both parts used are available at RETAIL price for $13 and $15 respectively. Was told by person who answered call that they mark up their parts the 600%+ for "troubleshooting."
When I suggested that "Diagnostic" charge should cover "troubleshooting," the person I talked to said that the extra markup (over RETAIL price, mind you), was for "labor." I said, "So you charged $70 to screw in four wire nuts?" His response was basically, yes.
When tech arrived, air conditioner, air handler (w/ fan), and thermostat were all installed. Tech was told to check wiring and correct an issue that was causing the small in-line fuse for the thermostat to keep blowing.
When tech left, after less than an hour, he took fan relay with him, installed transformer in air handler and a part in the air conditioner. Air conditioner and fan both worked, but would not shut of or turn on via the thermostat.
When called to complain (after new fan burnt up), person I talked to suggested just turning heating/cooling/fan off and on manually.
So I guess, if you want to overpay for parts, wait days for a return call after issue (which still has never came), and manually turn on/off your heat/air every time it gets too hot or too cold (ie. constantly), they were spectacular and a great deal at $360.
If you want your system to work correctly at a reasonable price when the tech leaves....call someone else.
