Inside the Gaslamp’s Swanky New Karaoke and Cocktail Bar | Eater San Diego

"Downtown’s newest nightlife attraction is an upscale lounge that brings together karaoke and serious cocktails; the Gaslamplighter is opening in the former Ciro’s Pizzeria space on Market Street and features a sparkling stage for confident crooners as well as live music. Owner Frankie Sciuto—San Diego–born and a fourth-generation bar proprietor who started his career at the Lamplighter—enlisted GTC Design to create a glittery art-deco 1,600-square-foot room hung with photos of famous singers and nods to the neighborhood like replica gas lamps and a scaled-down Gaslamp Quarter sign. Veteran bartender David Tye consulted on a crafty 16-drink list that ranges from a back-in-fashion Carajillo to a truffle-infused martini garnished with olives, onion, and caviar, plus fresher options such as Down the Rabbit Hole (vodka with carrot, cucumber, ginger, and aloe vera). Guests can order the Side Bar’s popular double-double wagyu burgers while a bar-snacks menu is in the works; after a preview weekend the Gaslamplighter opens to the public on Thursday, February 8, with live music earlier in the evening and karaoke beginning around 9:30 p.m. and running into the wee hours." - Candice Woo

We celebrated our wedding night at The Gaslamplighter and it was truly unforgettable! From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make the night special. Our engagement photos lit up the Jumbotron screen, and the cocktail servers surprised us multiple times with glowing LED signs and light displays—it felt like a true celebration! The music, drinks, atmosphere, and service were all top-tier. We’re so grateful for the love and energy poured into our experience. This night will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We absolutely love this place!

This place is incredible. I’m here now while in San Diego for a week for a social media conference and I can’t say enough good about it. Craig is an amazing doorman/host who’s friendly, welcoming and makes you feel right at home. Jared and Chris are the best bartenders and make you feel like a native no matter where you’re coming from. Great guys and great at what they do. DJ was incredible and karaoke and music were on point. Highly recommend Gaslamplighter to any person or group looking for a great time while in San Diego.

This is a little gem with great vibes, fantastic cocktails, great music, great service. The cocktails are top! best drinks anywhere around SD. The DJ super cool joggling in between music and karaoke titles when everybody vibes in a very cozy and luscious atmosphere, I love this spot probably the best to have fun in Gaslamp neighborhood.

This place only caters to people they know. I put my name on the list to karaoke. An hour and a half later, I hadn’t been called. I asked the dj how much longer. He said I needed to tip to be called: i tipped. He still didn’t call me and gave my song to someone else. Ridiculous. Spent $200 on drinks and fries and never got to sing. Never coming back.

We celebrated a 10 year vow renewal here and it was so special. They put my cousins pics and name on the big screen, brought champagne and tended to our whole crowd. We had a range of ages with us from 35 to 70 and every single person had a wonderful time.

The ambiance was incredible Maya was an incredible server. But Mia and Yari also helped me and they were all on point with checking in with us and making sure we were taken care of. My new fav karaoke bar!

I had a great time dancing and doing karaoke & there’s a sick variety of liquor and mixed drinks at the bar - my server Mia was so kinda and helpful. 10/10 would definitely recommend for a fun Friday night in SD

I arrived a little after 10:00 and I waited well over an hour to sing, when there were six songs ahead of me. I arrived alone and it is my birthday weekend and my last night in San Diego. Basically, ruined my last evening here. Met a random person who said he wanted to do a duet with me and I said I'm just waiting on my song and then I'll go home. Several people continued to sing in front of me, and I checked the list a lot of times and still wasn't up. The song that the stranger invited me to sing came up and i asked why, before mine, that I signed up for an hour before. The DJ said that he skipped everyone because they tipped. Like I wasn't going to. They might as well not have a list to sign up for. Worst karaoke experience ever.
