Gaslamplighter Karaoke Cocktail Bar

I visited here with some friends. We didn't realize karaoke began at 9pm, but that's fine. We were able to get onto the list to sing twice. We had a fun time. It was a little tight when it got packed. The fall drinks were good and priced normally for downtown. The food was so-so; but if you want a quick bite it'll do. I'd visit again.

We celebrated our wedding night at The Gaslamplighter and it was truly unforgettable! From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make the night special. Our engagement photos lit up the Jumbotron screen, and the cocktail servers surprised us multiple times with glowing LED signs and light displays—it felt like a true celebration! The music, drinks, atmosphere, and service were all top-tier. We’re so grateful for the love and energy poured into our experience. This night will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We absolutely love this place!

We had such a great experience at Gaslamplighter in downtown! Loved the whole vibe — perfect for a night out. Our bartender and server, Leah, was absolutely fantastic — friendly and attentive. She really made the evening special with her great energy and service. Highly recommend stopping by for amazing drinks, good vibes, and top-notch service!

This is a little gem with great vibes, fantastic cocktails, great music, great service. The cocktails are top! best drinks anywhere around SD. The DJ super cool joggling in between music and karaoke titles when everybody vibes in a very cozy and luscious atmosphere, I love this spot probably the best to have fun in Gaslamp neighborhood.

Check your BILL before you sign. Waitress told us the “22%” wasn’t included and did not want to give us the bill we requested until we demanded it. Then the waitress walked away quickly and never came back. We would not have an issue paying a tip. We were happy to do so! We appreciate and respect servers, but don’t appreciate when people are not honesty and assume the customer is too tipsy to understand a check.

This place is incredible. I’m here now while in San Diego for a week for a social media conference and I can’t say enough good about it. Craig is an amazing doorman/host who’s friendly, welcoming and makes you feel right at home. Jared and Chris are the best bartenders and make you feel like a native no matter where you’re coming from. Great guys and great at what they do. DJ was incredible and karaoke and music were on point. Highly recommend Gaslamplighter to any person or group looking for a great time while in San Diego.

Leah is so genuinely perfect, a genuine bartender in the swamp of downtown. I'm inspired, and genuinely impressed by such great service, what an amazing time with an amazing person. Worth every second staying here.

Gaslamplighter is honestly the spot. We've been going forever and somehow it just never gets old. We know everyone, we're probably there too much, but the vibes are always right. Whether we're screaming karaoke, dancing in the corner, or just catching up at the bar, it always hit. The staff feel like friends, the drinks are strong, and there's something about this place that just keeps pulling us back. If you know, you know. If you don't... you will.

**UPDATE to management reply: It would be a lot easier to understand the "intent" of your team if they didn't clear the tabs breakdown before handing us a terminal for payment. Sure seems intentFULL. As a local I was looking forward to trying this spot. We went on Halloween night and wow what a HUGE disappointment! The bartender charged us double the price when the drinks were on happy hour, didn't even bother saying anything since we won't be coming back. We ordered a dirty martini and an aperol spritz. The bartender cleared out the drinks on the receipt without showing us and just decided to charge us $38 when they were supposed to be $13 a piece! That would have been $26! The place is small and cramped, bartenders off putting and it's just an overall subpar place with overpriced drinks that taste below average. Shady bartenders, shady business. There's 100 other restaurants and bars in the area that won't scam you. Head over to Whiskey House for happy hour with the best food and drinks in town, where they won't scam you because they're desperate for money. Also adding, I see others have been scammed, added on upgraded liquor charges with asking, and random 6-8% service fees with no disclaimers, and one woman saying she was drugged here!? All the 5 star comments must be from employees and their friends. Management seriously needs to look at their horrid business

Service was friendly and attentive, and the décor and lighting were excellent -- the place definitely looks great. The sound was decent overall, though for a bar that presents itself as higher-end karaoke, the mic EQ and reverb could use some fine-tuning. (Maybe I'm being a little picky since I do a bit of sound engineering myself.) I signed up to sing but ended up being skipped over several times, which was disappointing. The drinks were the biggest letdown. The Gaslamplighter martini tasted almost entirely like olive brine, and while the carajillo had a nice flavor, it was mostly sugar water with very little alcohol. Across 9-10 different drinks, none of us felt even a slight buzz -- and that's saying something, since my limit is usually around three to five drinks. It really felt like they were cutting back on the alcohol. Our final round, an old fashioned, should've been a safe bet -- but again, mostly sweet mix with hardly any spirit. The food wasn't great either. My burger came with no dressings or condiments at all. The vibe also didn't match what's shown on their website -- no dress code enforcement, and the music leaned more toward club-style than a true karaoke or lounge experience. If you're looking for a club atmosphere with the occasional karaoke number and light drinks, this place might fit. But overall, it felt overpriced for what we got.

This karaoke bar is so fun. It gets packed af! Everyone has a great time. Bar service is quick. Bathrooms are clean enough lol.

We absolutely adored our experience at cocktails and karaoke, gas lamp, lighter! We danced a little, we karaoked a little . Super fun. No charge , you just have to have the guts to grab the microphone and go up when your name is called from the sign-up sheet and sing your heart out... everybody was doing. It was so much fun. What a great way to spend a couple of hours.

Finally made it to Gaslamplighter, and honestly, no complaints! (*note we got there at opening on a Thursday) As someone who loves checking out new spots, I'd been meaning to get here for a while. The space is a bit smaller than I expected, but that's on me, especially knowing their OG location was a true dive in both size and style. This one has definitely leveled up. Stopped in for drinks with my girl friend before dinner and had just enough time to enjoy a couple of well-made cocktails and their beautifully presented Aperitivo app--both solid choices. Excited to come back with a group and take on some karaoke. Also, worth noting: they have an "Aperitivo Hour" with $13 martinis and snacks, which is a nice touch. Looking forward to round two

Gaslamplighter is definitely a Saturday night vibe. It is more of a younger crowd that is singing their hearts out during karaoke. However, social media portrays this place more lounge, speakeasy older feel which is the complete opposite but we had a good time regardless. Reservations required prepay for burgers with a table. The burgers were delicious but it was a bit awkward eating when everyone is in a party mode around you so we felt a bit out of place. Otherwise cocktail menu is on point and loved the spa water cucumber drink $16. The waitresses were really kind and had great recommendations. They kept the drinks flowing which matched the vibe. This is a lively spot in gaslamp if you are looking to let loose!

My friend and I were staying in downtown and decided to hop around Gaslamp. This was one of the stops and have been wanting to check them out when they first opened. We went in April and sat at the bar. Since it was early, around 8:30pm, it was pretty dead. I liked that they had two musicians playing the guitar and singing during my visit. I thought it was a karaoke bar and if there was going to be music, it would be happening a lot later. My friend ordered an espresso martini and then we headed to our next destination. We planned to come back last night for Halloween, but had to reschedule. I'm looking forward to trying out their food soon!

Absolute best new spot in Gaslamp! Came down here last weekend and wow wow wow! The venue is stunning and the cocktails are delicious. You can tell the staff cares a lot about making you feel at home. We had some happy hour cocktails and was so happy to see they serve it til 9:30pm! The bartender told me they serve food til 2am, so I'll definitely come back again for that wagyu smash burger- it was so freaking good. Overall the place was good vibes, lively ambiance, and would definitely come back for a girls night out or date night!

Our waiter at Rustic Root recommended Gaslamplighter to my boyfriend and I so we decided to try it out. I got the Foam & Fleur which was delicious and is easily the best cocktail I've ever had. Izzie was our bartender and was very friendly. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the drinks!

Went here on a Friday night, it was pretty busy but entry was quick. They have Karaoke! It felt like you were in a past time elegant exclusive bar. Leah was our bartender and despite her being super busy she took the time to recommend drinks and engage. "Let's meet aT the lodge" is great for any bourbon lover and there's plenty of other options for other tastes. Can't wait to go back

Beautiful cocktail bar that me and my sister stumbled upon. It had just opened so we were the only ones in there at 7 pm, but very beautiful bar. Leah was very kind, easy to talk to, and accommodating. Highly recommend this place to anyone nearby! Also karaoke every night at 9 pm!!!

I made a visit to Gaslamp Lighter last weekend and had a great time! There are a lot of things that I like about this new cocktail bar/karaoke/live music venue and it was a perfect spot to celebrate my birthday. My reasoning for choosing Gaslamp Lighter for my birthday included: - Its location in the heart of gaslamp and close proximity to many other bars (it is sandwiched between Bang Bang and Sidebar) - A chance to dress up (dress code is sophisticated cocktail attire) - The craft cocktails - The variety of entertainment including live music until 10pm then karaoke This is definitely a new hot spot and there were about 3 other birthdays being celebrated while I was there. I observed the crowd to be more mature here, not your PB aged people but more like people in their 30-40s looking for a place to chill and possibly dance and sing some karaoke. One note is that you can reserve tables either online or by calling (if you have a bigger party) but they warned me that once it hit 10pm, that is when the tables on the dance floor started their minimums/bottle service. So what I did was reserve a table on the dance floor at 8pm and was planning on moving to the bar area at 10pm, however they allowed us to stay at our table since there were no other reservations (still no minimum) which was very nice. Just know that the dance floor seating is booths along the walls which does make it a little hard to talk to people. But this was a great spot to be up close to the live entertainment which was a Latin-inspired band who even sang me Happy Birthday. On to the cocktails - great variety of craft cocktails with a variety of spirits. On average they were about $18 so be prepared for that. I tried about 5 different cocktails and would say they are worth the price, the espresso martini was delicious and is near the top of best espresso martinis in my book. I do wish they had more food options though, currently they only offer a burger which they sold as an "elevated cheeseburger" which was a pretty basic burger and no option for fries. Hopefully in the future they will offer other appetizer-like options or shareable plates. They also did a good job with staffing, the ladies helping us were lovely and did a good job checking on us, you can tell they've had experience in the industry. The last thing to cover is the karaoke. How it works is you sign up on a clipboard and there is a small stage at the front with a screen for the backdrop that displays pictures (I think you can provide pics if you do bottle service) and other graphics/lights. Great opportunity to really unleash your Sasha Fierce. To close, I would definitely recommend checking out this place. You will be transported back to the 1920s amidst the chandeliers and neon lights where you can belt out some tunes or just enjoy some tasty drinks and music. It does get crowded so if you can make it in before 10pm that would be my suggestion.

UPSCALE KARAOKE AND COCKTAIL BAR (4 stars) - DRINKS: good - FOOD: one item only, a $12.09 burger LMAO - PRICE: pricier than usual - SERVICE: very good - AMBIANCE: Crowd = more mature - not the freshly sloppy 21yr olds. Come and sing your heart out to a bunch of drunk Gas Lamp goers who will sing along with you in the crowd. Too old for trhe clubs but too young to be at home sleeping... check this place out. Saturday has live music until 10pm and then 10pm they open up karaoke (w/ dancing). We had 2 tables reserved which are located in the reservation area at the front at the stage and dj booth. We had our own server and there is no ''spend limit' for reserved tables. :: DRINKS & FOOD :: WAGYU BURGER ($12.09) - the ONLY food they have was a Wagyu Burger. No sides, no nothing, just a burger. We all thought that was weird, of all foods for an upscale bar, they chose a burger for their one menu item. A burger. We were told "it's an elevated in-and-out" but it tasted nothing like an in-and-out burger. It was basic of bread, meat, and thousand island sauce, (optional) cheese. The burger was good but just because it was served in a fake printed Louis Vuitton cardboard sleeve doesn't mean it's worth its price. *** WHAT THE.... another 'burger' was ordered but this time only BREAD AND CHEESE (no patty) and the next day after accessing the receipt they charged $12.09 for bread and cheese. Uhm why? LOL. SOMEWHERE BEYOND THE SEA ($17) - House rum blend, mango, coconut, pineapple, lime, banana bitters, nutmeg. This was very tropical and a bit too sweet and tart. I was hoping the ice would dilute the taste. It was still very sip-able but in moderation. RECOMMEND MARIYLN'S WAY ($17) - Gin, strawberry, lemon, bergamot, lemongrass. I ended up sticking to this drink as my repeat drink of the night. I don't really drink but when I do I love me a good gin cocktails this was mellow with a little bit of sweetness but toned down by the bergamont. Very easy to take in. HIGHLY RECOMMEND GLL ESPRESSO MARTINI ($16) - vodka, Kahlua, simple, espresso. This was the smoothest espresso martini I have ever had a sip of. It was clean. Usually you can taste the vodka and espresso separately but this one was mixed well the layers folded in nicely making it very smooth to drink with no strong aftertaste. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. THE GLL MARTINI ($18) - Italian Olive oil washed vodka, olive juice and black truffle salt brine, blue cheese olives, Gibson onion, caviar. It was dirty!! The only reason I would sip on a martini with olive juice is because of Sex In The City show... it taught me about dirty martinis. I got my bar tenders certificate in my early 20s and learned about the taste and making of a dirty martini. If you love a very dirty martini, this drink is for you! The salty elements coated the vodka well. RECOMMEND :: VIBE CHECK :: Live music was cool. Walking In to the live music made me feel as if I was entering a club in the 1970s in Colombia and about to start filing for a Narcos Netflix film. One that ended, Karaoke had an array of talent (and no talent) but it was so fun. The crowd sings along with whoever is performing and everyone having a gay ol time! The crowd is mature and not the freshly sloppy 21yr olds and felt the majority was 30's and (early) 40's. Although it's classified as "upscale", all walks of fashion walked in. They have the guys in tshirt and jeans who still think they are frat bros cheering each other on to drink, they have the people in padres gear because they just came from a game, they have birthday celebrations mostly dressed up in cocktail attire, they have someone looking like they were going to attend the golden globe awards, they have people who have zero fashion sense, they have people who are a little too old to follow GenZ fashion but 'trying' with their baggy clothes relax fit and crop top, they have basic everyday people. They had a bit of everything. It's SD, anything and everything was accepted. I am not a karaoke person but if this place got me tipsy enough to get up on stage to sing with friends "TLC NO SCRUBS" and also singing my lungs out in the crowd watching others sing... then I had fun. JABA APPROVED. Until the next song...

If Gaslamplighter were a movie, Chris would win Best Supporting Bartender and MVP of the Franchise. Walked in expecting a regular night--left with new friends, slightly stronger drinks than I probably needed, and a full-blown therapy session courtesy of Chris behind the bar. He mixes cocktails and life advice with the same precision. The man is a wizard with whiskey and a saint with sass. Drinks? Strong enough to make you dance to a song you claimed to hate. Atmosphere? Like Cheers, but with better lighting and way more glitter. Chris? 12/10. Might be part therapist, part bartender, part magician. Come for the drinks. Stay because Chris remembered your name, your go-to order, and somehow convinced you karaoke was a good idea. Highly recommend. Just don't challenge Chris to a dad joke contest--you'll lose.

This is our favorite bar in San Diego!!! The whole crew from Stevie to Steve to Sage to Yari are amazing! The place to be for amazing cocktails and Karaoke.

The Gaslamplighter is a new, upscale cocktail bar and karaoke lounge in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter owned by the same group as The Lamplighter in Mission Hills. It's located in a narrow suite between Bang Bang and Side Bar on Market St. The current operating hours are from 6:30 pm to 2:00 am on Thursday through Sunday. The inside had a glamorous speakeasy decor with a small stage in the back for live musical acts and karaoke. The latter was unique as you don't find many cocktail bars where customers are asked to sign up and sing. I didn't catch a glimpse of the bar bites menu, but I did scour the menu of drinks closely. A dozen Craft Cocktails spanned two pages while another page was dedicated to three Coffee-Based Cocktails and two Zero-Proof Cocktails. Beer, wine, Evian water, and Red Bull made up another page. Champagne and bottle service were available for the high rollers including a $10,000 King Louis combination package. The bartender recommended the Tranquillo versus the Dolce Vita from the zero-proof choices. Pineapple, lime, and honey were mixed with non-alcoholic tequila in a tajin-rimmed glass. The taste was more tart from the lime than sweet from the honey. There was a singer who crooned some R&B hits before taking a break and giving way to those who wanted to karaoke. I was not around when and if anyone was brave enough to hit the stage. The vibe of the Gaslamplighter was mellow so it's a neat spot to visit if you enjoy a less noisy ambiance.

Favorite late night bar in gaslamp SD. Everyone who works there is amazing. The KDJ, Steve, manager, Sage, and bartenders and bottle servers are ALL the best! Fun, energetic, tasty drinks, great vibes!

Went to Gaslamplighter with a group of friends to celebrate International Women's Day. The decorations and atmosphere was very on point for a luxury speakeasy vibe. Unfortunately that's where the positive experience ended. I ordered a mocktail and specifically asked if my drink could be made without pineapple juice due to my allergy. The waitress checked with the bar and verified it could be done. When my drink came it was dark so I couldn't see the color well but after 1 sip I could taste a strong pineapple flavor. I notified the waitress and my drink was remade but the apology was almost nonexistent and the drink wasn't comped which I think given the situation would have been more than fair. Luckily my allergy isn't serious enough that 1 sip is a problem but the staff should take noted allergies more seriously because for someone else it could be serious. My friends espresso martini was not shaken and the alcohol was separated after the espresso. Again while it was remade at the price of these cocktails you expect higher quality. At the end of the night we were provided a $75 bill for 2 espresso martinis and a mocktail. Normally I would say it was a mistake but given the poor overall quality of service I wouldn't be surprised if we were getting overcharged on purpose because after a couple of drinks I don't think most people would pay that close attention to the bill. Lastly a 22% required service charge is outrageous given the quality provided. While Gaslamplighter has a cool vibe I'm sure you could find much better karaoke bars.

Came here for a friends birthday after being so excited to finally see this place and sadly, I won't be back. It was my friends 40th we had the center dance floor table. Ambiance is great if that's all you're interested in. Drinks are tiny, they ran out of beer and told us "they're not really a beer bar," and seemed inconvenienced that we were ordering drinks... As for karaoke, our group went up for ONE song, we were there for hours and only got called once. The owners family was there and so naturally, their party took over the stage. Apparently you have to pay to be called up. Not to forget, ownership is staunchly maga. Our group was full of Black and Brown women. Hopefully there's no correlation there. Lastly, our friends mom was definitely drugged at the bar. Not saying it was employees but just watch your drinks. That was a pretty scary moment and end to our night. I'm glad we were with her to get her home. There are other upscale lounges or karaoke places to go to, sadly I won't be back to this beautiful looking establishment.

visited on a Saturday night with friends after the place was recommended to me. There was a $10 cover charge, which was expected and no issue. A waitress came to take our order, and we asked for 4 lemon drop martinis and 4 green tea shots with house liquor. When the bill arrived, the total was $180, which seemed unusually high. I asked for a receipt, and the waitress mentioned an "entertainment charge," even though there was no entertainment that night. Upon looking closer, we realized she had charged us for Belvedere instead of house liquor, which we never ordered. I brought this up to the main blonde bartender, who was very kind and understanding. She stated that our original waitress was new and apologized for the mistake. However, instead of offering a refund, we were given some strong shots. Unfortunately, none of us wanted those--we would have preferred a refund for the mistake. The way the situation was handled left my friends and me pretty disappointed, and it made the overall experience feel dishonest.

Was out of town and never write reviews. This is the first time because they deserve it. Jared and Sage took care of me today and it was great. The music was great and their efficiency was spot on. It's a high volume bar but they took great care of me. Come to this spot if you appreciate good cocktails and good service.

All in all nothing wrong with the place but nothing special either. The online reserved section seems very large but in person it is quite small. The place is only about 20 feet wide so it's quite tight. I can understand trying to capitalize on the few tables up by the stage by doing bottle service but seems like a table minimum would be a better choice. I'm glad I went in for a drink to see the place but with how small it is and how claustrophobic I felt with the over crowding of tables I don't see myself coming back.
