Wow. This cute little corner of history was such a surprisingly wonderful experience. The service was wonderful, the food was wonderful. Our waitress was wonderful with a beautiful personality, she shared the history of the building with us. The host was wonderful and friendly. We will definitely be back!

We were there at 11 am and they welcomed us right away. We had Hamburger and Rueben from lunch menu and they were delicious! I left my credit card accidentally but a staff kept it for me and I really appreciated for her kindness. Thank you for the drink, too.

Had a lovely lunch at Gaslight Bar & Grill—highly recommend the rooftop seating! The view and atmosphere made it such a relaxing experience. We enjoyed refreshing Aperol spritzes, a bright and zesty ceviche, and a really satisfying chicken salad sandwich. Everything was fresh and well-balanced. Great spot for a laid-back but elevated meal—can’t wait to go back!

We visited the Gaslight Bar & Grill for Valentines Day dinner and so glad we chose to dine with them. Specials were created for the occasion to include libations, and their dinner menu was available to order from as well. My husband had the Ludlow Wellington, and I had the dinner special. Both dishes were so tasty and cooked to perfection! The Birth of Venus cocktail special was simply divine! The shortcake for dessert was the icing on our Valentines dinner at this neighbor gem!

Wow. I had no idea that this place was so amazing. We decided to try it after visiting the Zoo Festival of Lights. This could be some of the tastiest food I’ve had in Clifton, and possibly Cincinnati. I had a lobster pot pie which was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor — topped with buttery puff pastry. It was both incredibly satisfying and filling. My husband had the Hangar Steak — which was prepared perfectly. With mushrooms and delicious charred onions. It is definitely the dish that will make us return. The service was on point, and both professional and welcoming — it also felt genuine, as if the staff was happy you were there visiting. One more thing, don’t miss the trio of desserts. Unbelievable. If you are in the area, stop by for dinner — you will not be disappointed!

Wonderful place!! The atmosphere is fun and inviting!! We got there for happy hour and saved a bunch on our drinks!! We got the trout dip for appetizer!! Omg yum!! We devoured it lol! The flavor was just perfect!! I got the fish and chips for dinner-- the fish was flakey and fat. There was definitely enough meat to taste the fish!! The breading was perfectly seasoned and crunchy. I didn't fall off! The truffle fries were very good, but I couldn't eat many of them. My husband got to cheeseburger with truffle fries. It was a good portion, fresh burger... not a frozen patty. Everything was from scratch. For dessert, we got the basque cheesecake (my first one!) And the turtle brownie. The cheesecake was very fun and different! It tasted like if a cheesecake and an egg custard had a baby lol. We ate it with caramel on the side. It was so good and we definitely recommend you try it!! The brownie.... was dry and crumbly. It wasn't good. Overall, we loved this place!! We hope to return!

This restaurant is close to the zoo and is a fantastic spot to enjoy great food and drinks after a day looking at all the animals. They've got a bunch of different kinds of craft beers, amazing cocktails that taste awesome, and food that's super delicious and unique. The place looks really nice and the people there were prompt and helpful. The best part is that even though it's a fancy spot, it doesn't cost a ton of money, so you can have a nice meal without breaking the bank. Oh, and don't miss out on trying their turkey Reuben and the bacon and fig jam bruschetta! Both were a bit different from the usual, but worth it for sure!

We experienced a food quality issue with one item and politely pointed it out to our server, who was excellent. We asked for the 90% uneaten item to be removed from our check and even offered to add the difference to their tip because it wasn’t a service issue. We didn’t want a replacement item because we had to be somewhere after the meal. That should have been the end of the story. Instead, a manager turned up and we again pointed out the issue, thinking that it would be quickly resolved and we could leave. Then another manager came. It was getting weird. Then a third manager came over. The reason was clear on reflection: they get frequent complaints and they feel their customers are taking advantage of them. We definitely will not return here.

Last Saturday, my daughter and I attended an exhibition opening at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center, and it was such a wonderful experience. After the show, before heading home, we stopped into the Gaslight Bar & Grill--and I'm so glad we did. We ordered a salad, French fries, and Brussels sprouts, and everything was fantastic. The service, the food, and the cozy atmosphere made it the perfect way to end the evening. We truly had a great time.

The service and kindness was great. The fish was prepared and seasoned well. I loved the fries too. I remember this when it was the old library so to see it as restaurant is cool. I'm torn on value. 2 pieces of cod, small pieces and fries for $24. I eat a lot of fish and I can get 5 pieces of fish for under $20, you can get 2 massive pieces for $20.00. I am totally aware that prices are increased in general. Just seems pricey for the portion. But it was delicious.

stopped by Gaslight Bar and Grill and decided to sit at the bar...so glad I did! Tony, the bartender, was super cool, fast, and friendly. He made some great recommendations and really made me feel comfortable while I was there. I initially ordered the halibut, and when I mentioned it wasn't quite what I expected, Tony immediately suggested swapping it for a Reuben and fries. That ended up being excellent! Great service, great food, and a really welcoming vibe. Definitely coming back.

Food was tasty and the menu has a nice variety, including apps, salads, handhelds, flatbreads and entrees. Service was pretty good and waitress was friendly and accessible throughout our meal. The espresso martini (called a Pluto) was especially well made. Location was perfect for dinner before an event at Ludlow Garage across the street. However, also several little problems tonight - ordered an app that never made it to our table (server made sure it was taken off our bill), overcharged $2 for our sandwich (evidently the menu is new and their system wasn't updated yet), and the fire alarm went off midway through our meal and then fire truck/fire fighters showed up (but we didn't need to evacuate at least). Hopefully they can work out the kinks and this will be 5 stars!

I love Gaslight Bar & Grill!!! The interior is clean and tastefully decorated. The employees are friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable of the menu. I haven't been on the rooftop deck as of yet. They have the best fried cod and fries I ever had. I plan on bringing my Australian friends to Gaslight when they visit for the fish and chips.

I previously came to this restaurant a year ago and it was absolutely delightful and the food was amazing. I made reservations for four people at 6 o'clock on a Thursday night. Service was incredibly slow. As we waited 20 minutes for drinks. You can tell by the picture that they were not that busy. They were out of all of the specialty cocktails except for one choice and they were out of one of the beer selections. I ordered the beet salad and the veggie flatbread. The beet salad only had small pieces of beets and a ton of arugula. There was no dressing on the arugula. The flatbread was beautiful and I picked up a piece of it and it was absolutely soggy and wet all over the bottom. I did not eat it and I sent it back. We did not have time to wait for something else to be ordered because we had tickets for a 7:30 show across the street. One of our guests asked for corn salsa on the tacos instead of pineapple and they were out of that also. I do not understand how a restaurant in this amazing artsy neighborhood could be out of so many things on a Thursday evening at 6 o'clock.

Very cool place and it was great with the windows open! Food was ok but service was very slow and only a few tables were occupied. Very nice server just slow.

I love the environment and the food is consistently good. Service staff is kind and willing to help, but could use some additional training. Overall. I will continue to dine here, especially when the rooftop dining area is open.

We had a really nice time at the Gaslight last Friday night. We were in the neighborhood for a concert and decided to stop in for a bite before the show. There was not a wait so we were seated upon arrival. The service was excellent, our waiter was attentive and fast. The food was quite good. Enjoyed the Korean BBQ wings. The sauce was delicious. I do wish the wings were a bit crispier. The truffle fries were very nice. A nice and strong truffle flavor. They split the schnitzel for us. The sauce was incredible. Made to look like a yellow mustard but tasted of curry. Would buy a bottle of that stuff. Wish the portion was a bit bigger for the price. I'd definitely come back. A tasty neighborhood restaurant.

Rooftop vibes with an aperol spritz. service was great . I sat on the rooftop ; but my oysters were cold . Which they would have been amazing hot. Busy area but easy parking. I went to a show a show at ludlow garage . It's a perfect end to the night cause they close at 11pm. They have downstairs dining as well . It's dirty and visit but next time I'll request all my food to be fresh !

Came here for a Friday date night with my husband--he'd been for lunch before and said we needed to come together. Such a cute place! We said it felt like a crossover between Goose & Elder (RIP) and The Filson. We had delicious drinks and the burrata appetizer is a must! I got the truffle pasta and it was good, but definitely needed some cheese and more seasonings to make it stand out more. My husband tried it and said it was more like truffle buttered noodles. He loved his steak! I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Our server, John, was excellent. As we were seated, he pointed out the happy hour drink specials that were ending in 5 minutes, and made a point to get our order in. The on-tap Pinot noir was quite tasty. We ordered the Chicken Pomodoro, for which they happily supplied more sauce to meet my saucy husband's taste, and the warm Brussels Sprout salad sans bacon for this vegetarian. We were both pleased with the flavors, service and ambiance. Gaslight Bar and Grill has definitely stepped up its food and beverage experience. And the server came by to let me know they also have a housemade veggie burger that's not on the menu. Check it out the next time you are heading to the Esquire or Ludlow Garage!

The staff was so kind and helpful but the place is crawling with roaches it's disturbing. pretty sure i overheard a woman loudly proclaim herself as the owner, talking about her trip to mexico while i was staring at a roach crawling on the bar. gaslight properties get ur priorities together.

Truffle fries were delicious. Wings could have been cooked "harder." Drink was a very light pour, I had to double check to make sure we didn't order a mocktail by mistake lol. Ambiance is actually nice, with a super cute rooftop!!!

Gaslight Bar & Grill is a nice looking restaurant. I love they have windows that open all the way when the weather is nice. We were here in May and sat at a booth with the door right behind us. The sun at this time of the year shines directly onto this table when it's setting. It's cool if one is facing away from the door, otherwise the sun will be in your eyes for a few minutes. I ordered the Shrimp & Avocado Salad. It was tasty and light. Maybe a little pricey for what you get. We enjoyed our meal. It's a great place to stop in before a show at Ludlow Garage across the street. I recommend making reservations here rather than eating at the 'garage'.

Ate here for the first time before a concert at the Ludlow Garage. Food and service were excellent! Brooke was our server and she was awesome! Atmosphere was cozy and inviting. We will definitely be back! They have a rooftop patio and bar as well.

I wanted to love this place but it turned out to be just okay. Great atmosphere and decor! Great service! Okay food. My husband and I went here when we had concert tickets for Ludlow Garage across the street. I loves the place when I walked in. It had a great feel. The hostess and manager both greeted us and you could tell the place was well managed. We were immediately seated and our server greeted us. I just had a diet soda to drink but my husband had wine. He didn't care for it. He said it tasted like it was old (sat in an opened bottle too many days/weeks. I ordered a burger with a side of Mustard greens. My husband got the steak and fries. My burger was fine, nothing wrong with it, just not exceptional in any way. My husband's food was basically the same as mine, not bad but not great. The Mustard greens were a little overcooked for my taste, just too mushy. My husband also got the cheesecake. Again, okay. The manager stopped by our table to check on us and was very friendly. Our server was great! I wish I had better things to say about the food because the rest of the experience was exceptional.

I still like my neighborhood place, but it needs to re-visit training with some of the new staff. Or is this a new management issue? Either way... It should not irritate the server when asked about Happy Hour Specials, nor should there be rolled eyes, walking away as the customer is actively questioning you, nor should there be an attitude of defensiveness when asked to clarify prices. It took an uncomfortable 10-15 mins with my server (going back-and-forth) to understand that the place IS indeed under new management and there's and entirely new pricing structure. New management has instituted a NEW PRICING STRUCTURE for Happy Hour, but has not posted that information anywhere nor is (clearly) new staff trained to inform you of the drink specials. In the defense of the business, the manager dropped by the table to check on the issue, which I greatly appreciated and must admit is a credit to this spot. I'll take an attentive staff over a training issue any day of the week. You can train someone to be a better server, but you can't teach professionals to pay attention if it's not part of their character. So why complain about what is ultimately a 5-star review, you may ask? For a few reasons: 1.) this started as a 3-star review because of the server's behavior and lack of knowledge, 2.) the manager's initiative to visit the table and kindly deal with my concerns bumped this up to a 4-star review. 3.) the server's attitude AFTER my polite exchange with the manager bumped this back up to a 5. The only reason this place has become an "institution" in the Clifton food/beverage space is because locals support their own. When you're here, we take care of you. From Ms. Denise at the CVS down the street, to Stephanie at Arlin's, people know people, people know places, and people SUPPORT everyone and everything in between. You get used to a certain level of care (and competency), and when that doesn't happen, it's noticeable. This is still one of the best spots in the city, this is still one of the most attentive spots in the city, and today's recent Happy Hour faux-pas doesn't nix this from my list of favs. If anything, it stays up here because of its ability to recover beautifully.

We had a great time at the Gaslight. Our first visit. The hummus is tremendous! Do not sleep on that dish. I had the shrimp tacos. Three monstrous tacos that I couldn't finish. We also had Brussels sprouts and truffle fries, both great. Our server was awesome. Helpful with choices and quick on additional drinks. The space is cool and filled up as we had to get out and back to another engagement. Looking forward to returning.

We was in area for concert, Meal was very good. They have wine on tap(my wife said it was excellent) Lots variety of a Gastro pub style. It was happy on before 6 I'm mixed drinks. They several special mixed drinks. Wide variety of beer on tap. Really nice atmosphere

The vibes are great here, I loved watching all the foot traffic on Ludlow out of their big windows, and I know they have them open on warm days. I came in about 8:45 on a Saturday night, alone. There weren't many people there but a bunch came in around 9:30. The server was super nice and knowledgeable about the menu. He advised me on dishes that could accommodate my food allergy. I got the beet salad and the risotto. Both were good! The risotto has rotating vegetables in it, today it was Asparagus, mushroom, and summer squash. It was rich and well seasoned. The beet salad was a citrusy vinaigrette over roast beets, goat cheese, and arugula. Simple but delicious and beautifully presented.

Lunch on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon. Well located on Ludlow. Typical bar-ish menu. Our three top had tacos, burger, and chicken sandwich. Not a complaint in the group. Im sure they are packed on game-days.

I owe this place another visit. I thought the ambience and service in my first visit were excellent. However, I didn't think the quality of the food quite justified the price point. That said, etc. been an off night. It's located near music venue I'd like to visit, so I definitely plan to give this place another try.

In a world of fast dining, Gaslight stands out for its rightly-paced meal and excellent service. I also love the vibe - it's beautiful and relaxing. Enjoyed great gin cocktails off the summer menu. Beautiful presentation. Burger and fries is always solid. Risotto was yummy. The standout was the service. It was attentive and friendly but not disruptive. I was in the industry for decades and I really appreciate great service. Thank you for a lovely and relaxing evening.

Stopped at the Gaslight today for lunch. Upon entering there was only 1 other couple there. We sat down and the waitress told us she would back with waters- she never came back. We sat for approximately 10 minutes and other family was seated across from us. The waitress took their order and left without even acknowledging us. At that point we left. I can understand slow service when an establishment is busy - but this was POOR!! Left and went across the street to the Ludlow Garage - great service and food. Should have went there first. Don't waist your time on the Gaslight.

Ï We won't be back. We asked three times for the music to be turned down. The guy behind the bar was rude and would not accommodate us. We were the only ones there So rude. Was really suprised. Maybe that's why we were the only ones there.

By no means fancy, but a good spot for college town standards. Food was solid, rooftop great, even if the service was a little weak (had to track down our waiter to get the bill once we were done).

We sat on the rooftop and had a delicious meal. It was nice being outdoors but up above the street level so it was more personal than eating at a table on the sidewalk. Our service was great and the Gaslight Burger was very yummy. I would recommend eating here if you're in the area!

This was an amazing spot to take our daughter out to dinner. Loved our dinners and drinks. Service was a bit slow, but okay as we were enjoying our evening out. Very open area for seating. Recommend reservations!

We previously went to this restaurant a year ago and the service was really, really slow. Since we live up by there, we thought we would give it another chance. Our reservations were at 8:00 on a Saturday night and we were seated right away. The place was empty with us being the third table occupied and 3 servers. It took 15 minutes before the server took out drink order and at that time we ordered our food. I thought to myself, here we go again with the really slow service. The food came in a reasonable time but it did not look that appealing. They reduce the items on the menu which was a real negative. The hamburger buns look like they were saturated with grease and smashed. The Mayo was slopped on there as well which was way to much. While eating all 3 of our drinks were empty and it would have been nice to have refills while eating our meal. I waited for our server who was just up at the bar with the bartender just the bull to evidently come around. After at least 15 minutes and our food just about gone I went up to the bar to get our drinks refilled. I watched the server and it didn't seem to bother her that I had to go up and ask for refills for all of us. The bartender was very nice and got them for us. When it came time to give us our check, she was real good to turn on the charm so you would get tipped. As my wife said, this is the last time we go here. From now on we will go across the street to Ludlow Garage who serves better food at a cheaper price!

We working for a cool casual place on our trip to Cincinnati and we were taking to OTR and found Gaslight. We were told it would be about a 30 minute wait but before we had are drinks at the bar the table was available. The drinks are prepared individually with care and precision and tasted wonderful. Once we got to the table we started with appetizers including deep fried mushrooms, a beets appetizer, one soup of the day and brussel sprouts and all were tasty. My wife had a salad with added salmon and she was pleased. I had the gas light burger and it was perfect. The service was fantastic and we loved the room. We'll be back.

So I made Valentine's Day reservations. Get there to find out you can only order from the "Valentines Menu"- $50 per person. I had looked at the regular menu and decided to come, not this BS $50 menu. Waited a little long for food. Steak came, looked like it was probably overdone.... But we didn't stay long enough for me to find out. It was also about the size of my fist. $50 for a 3oz steak? That's nonsense.... Then my girlfriend cuts into her raw piece of chicken . I'm confident that I'm a better cook than these farts. And I'm a 20 year old college student on a strict budget. We went across the street to skyline and it was good as ever.

Despite the great service, the meal was the worst I've had in a long time. It feels like they're trying to cut costs on the food in general, but especially the veggie burgers

Good food, great service and a manager who cared led to a enjoyable experience for our party of five on a busy Friday evening. After a round of drinks, we ordered fish and chips, excellent, burger, nice and wings. No complaints. Service was the best. I ordered slaw but got fries. No problem. Taken care of promptly. Manager who may be the owner stopped at each table to make patrons were pleased. Nice touch. BTW this is a great place to go if your plans include a concert across the street at the Ludlow Garage. Restrooms were clean. Parking is competitive in the very busy Ludlow Street area. There is a pay lot behind the grocery store. Definitely recommend.

WeWe went for dinner before going to The Clifton Performance Theatre down the street. We wanted a simple dinner that wasn't "themed". It's a very nice neighborhood bar and restaurant. Our server was attentive and we were served at a good pace. We got a burger with fries which was cooked as ordered; a entree salad with grilled chicken which was seasoned fine; and a side salad with the salmon dinner. You could tell there were a number of neighborhood frequenters in the restaurant who likes coming back.

Gaslight Bar & Grill has some big shoes to fill. The space once served as the social nexus for the Clifton Gaslight District as the former location of the Clifton Library. Controversial as it may be, the library moved up the street (and in some people's minds too far off the beaten path) to save the historic Boss Cox Mansion on Brookline Ave. That is a long winded way to say: there are a lot of emotional ties that people have to this space. As a throwback to its roots, the drinks all have literary themes: there's the Harper Lee (Gin/ Tonic with a ginger twist), Fahrenheit 451 (Pomegranate / Honey syrup), Hemingway Daiquiri (White Rum/ Grapefruit), Old Man and the Sea (Scotch & Bourbon). They even have a bookshelf-like bar! The design concept is very classy (well, except for the faux-marble laminate counter-top, bad choice on that). Think: dark woods, exposed metal hardware, dimly lit: perfect for a quiet dinner date out. While I can only comment on the bar and not the food, it is great to see another sit-down restaurant in Clifton Gaslight District. I know that our minds have a cringe reflex when we read "Bar & Grill" (due to trauma from living in the 90's and having Applebee's syndrome). However, Gaslight is different: from Po Boys to Filet Mignon... Ludlow Ave. has a new neighborhood anchor.

So upfront I see that my review is different than the others here. This place intrigued me with its cute decor and neat location, and I had to try it. Yesterday night, being a Friday night, my friend and I made an impromptu plan of heading here, went in with no reservations and were lucky to find a table. First impressions? The place is designed really well, with the lights and candles. The servers and staff were nice and paying attention. Coming to the food. I was having a big burger craving (maybe because we were gonna go to Red Robin earlier). I don't know why but I ordered the veggie burger with fries. The fries were really good! It was crispy and right amount of salty. The burger was disappointing. Actually the patty was disappointing. It was chunky and very very dry! This patty should have been deep fried, or it needed a sauce to be atleast a lil juicy. I tried salvaging with the ketchup, but I gave up. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but I'm not sure if I'd return.

The ambient sound makes one tense. The loud music is awful. We had to wait for 1 hour to receive our cold fries and tasteless Gaslight burgers. Waitress comment: "We're busy". We were provided with no condiments for the burgers. Another mistake, we ordered the pinto beans. Waited about 1/2 hr to get a bowl of salty beans. The folks next to us appeared to leave them almost untouched. In the past, we thought more of the place, but not now. We'll probably not return to what once was a neighborhood treat.

You may want to consider taking this unsanitary restaurant off your site. See pictures of grossly under cooked burger. Manager responds we may have some pink, my response but should not be red. Do not care about food prep or customer experience!

This place has gone DOWNHILL recently. We have eaten here before and been happy. My wife and I had dinner Saturday 12/7/2024 before a show at Ludlow Garage. The menu was surprising different than on their website? And very few dinner type items. Disappointing. My wife had the Squash Risotto. It was bland with no flavor, runny and maybe 8 pencil eraser size pieces of squash. I had the pork chops with an "s" for $32. The meal came out as ONE chop, dry and no flavor. Asked for a bottle of wine. It took about 10 minutes and the server brought it out and just sat it on the table and left. It was still corked! Then the manager came out and opened the wine at the table and asked how our meal was. We didn't want to make a fuss and said it was "just OK." She didn't offer or say anything. We later saw her across the street taking ticket to get into the show. We will still visit the Ludlow Garage for wonderful music but we will now go to other local restaurants for dinner. As my wife said "Dinner just plain sucked."

This was the worst service we've ever received- EVER!!! If we weren't running late for the Reds game, we would have walked out!! We walked in, In a great mood, and walked out feeling frustrated! We were sent upstairs to eat outside because we were told the restaurant was completely full with reservations. The waiter upstairs was so rude!! He needs to find a new job, because he clearly hates being a waiter! After waiting 10 minutes for him to take our drink order, we went back downstairs and sat at the bar. That bartender took our drink order, reluctantly. He finally took our food order, which was NOT the same menu online! So don't expect to go there for most of the items online. Plus the pricing was raised by 2-5 dollars per item. The food was just okay. Nothing spectacular! GO ELSEWHERE!! To an establishment that is happy you came in! BYW when we left an hour later, the tables in the restaurant were still empty! Maybe they just hate Cincinnati Reds fans?!

The food is excellent but the staff less so. We were the only ones in there on Monday early afternoon and we asked them to turn down the music so we could hear each other talk. Four times. They kept turning it up. I was greeted with an insulting response after the fourth time. "I can hear you all the way over here." I responded "because we have to yell." The servers , however, were very nice.

I love this place. Really some of the best burgers in Cincinnati. Fish sandwiches . Chicken sandwiches . Chili . Fries. Beer . From there, your on your own. If you're looking for pate' or duck ravioli, really? Bathrooms needs updated badly.

Extremely overpriced and extremely mediocre. You'd be better off getting a burger at McDonalds. Nothing necessarily wrong with the place- just would never recommend it.

Someone's mom would like this joint - unnecessarily expensive with bland food. So, great if you're over the age of 45. Also, their rooftop is lame. Service was okay though.

Don't Waste Your Time !!! Customer service sucks ! My husband and I made reservations for tonight based on rave reviews for there fish & chips by a family member. We were immediately sat down and then ignored for 12 minutes: there was a waitress taking care of a table next to our table. No one ever made contact with us outside of the hostess who sat us. As we were deciding to leave there was couple who was seated right next to us and there server came over within in minutes of them sitting to greet them.
