Gasthaus zur Schweiz

I’m from the U.S. and was tasked with finding an authentic German restaurant, and I think I hit the nail on the head with this one. It truly felt like we were dining in someone’s home. The waiter spoke broken English, but the service was amazing. While they didn’t have English menus, that was easily solved with Google Translate. After ordering, we waited about 20 minutes for our food. The atmosphere was quiet and pleasant much different from a typical U.S. restaurant. When the food arrived, it was some of the best Cordon Bleu I’ve ever had. My father ordered the stag, which was incredible, and my mother and sister got what translated to “roast beef,” though we think it was closer to a sirloin steak. The meat was so tender it could be cut with a fork. Everything was freshly cooked and clearly never frozen. The total came to about 100 euros for all four of us, including drinks, desserts, and entrées. It was such a great experience that we went back the next day and tried new dishes. I would highly recommend this place to both locals and tourists alike.

Was there for a birthday dinner. The atmosphere is homey with a great view of the Alps from certain seating positions. There aren't many food option, but those that exist are executed exquisitely and elevated to the next level! The wait staff was reasonably busy (understandable as more patrons arrived throughout our time there), yet still very attentive and friendly. Would absolutely recommend!

A beautiful terrasse, traditional house, delicious regional food, and a view on the mountains. This restaurant is on michelin guide recommendation list but still offers very modest, hospitable, warm service and prices are very reasonable. We ordered the meat, vegetarian pumpkin ravioli (in amazing butter and cheese, pumpkin seed oil), both arrived in very satisfying portions with variety of side dish and salad. Grüner veltliner had great quality, had half a liter of it, with regional mineral water. We finished it with a huge and delicious crème brulée, and the invoice was only 66 Eur for all of it. Excellent experience. Located a little off the main road from Bad Tölz towards the town of Lenggries, you will need to go up a steep little but very short side road to the right to get there. Also a fantastic location to dine at after walking from Bad Tölz towers Lenggries alongside the river Isar. The food is great, bit on the pricy side, and the Wirtshaus very quaint and cozy, making for a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Very recommended!

Very good food with generous portions. Slightly on the expensive side. No vegetarian options, although the chef was happy to come up with something that was as good as all the standard meals. Friendly service too. No bicycle parking.

Very good local dishes, worth a (small) detour. Delicious wurstsalat, very good local fish, nice open wine.
