The Surprising Calm of Mushroom Hunting During the Pandemic | Eater

"A small local park known among townspeople as a go-to spot for mushroom hunting after rain, where experienced foragers stake out favored turf and sometimes guard their finds jealously. The park is portrayed as a place with informal rules and territorial locals—exemplified by one older, stiff, protective woman—so newcomers often avoid moving into established hunting areas out of respect and to prevent conflict." - Danny Palumbo

It makes me happy to see some cities preserve local parks like this. In my hometown, they turned all historical parks into malls so visiting parks in CDO was a breath of fresh air. By visiting this park, you get to explore the city hall, a nearby school, the church, a souvenir shop and the city museum. It gives you an idea of the history and life of the city. The place is clean and there were amazing local photographers too! I hope we continue supporting them. I also hope the museum was open on weekends so tourists like me can visit it too.

A park in the heart of the city, both locals and tourists can hangout here. It's your landmark if you want to visit the church, museum, memorial wall, municipal hall, etc. The park is clean and has lots of benches. The landscaped trees adds to the relaxing vibes.

Gaston Park located besides at City Hall in Cagayan De Oro and Church of St. Augustine. I also loved their fountain and I see all the couples sitting in the bench. The surrounding is clean the street sweeper maintained the neatness and cleanliness of the Park.

Nice to visit at night as fountain would look better in the dark together with it's corresponding lights. There are as well at the mean time Christmas lights that is pretty cool.

This reminds me of Cloud Gate (the bean) in Chicago USA. I hope they make it more shiny and really polish it to be more reflective thus appealing.

I can say this place nowadays was really good for family and children. Why I say that? cause I went there many times Specially night time the lights are great fresh air, people seems enjoying sitting and talking while watching the fountain water plays with sounds, we went there like almost Xmas time. Really fun.

I visited at December 25, 8-9 pm, its cool for photography if you want, place is clean but on the sides it's a bit dirty, some plastics are around but don't worry there's a cleaner there so they'll pick up the trash, main view for this place is the Cathedral and the Gaston park, they're placed near each other, Gaston parks main attraction is it's fountain view and a spacious park, it's one of this City's main view so you should go visit if your free, lot's of people visit here everyday, especially when it's sunday or when it's night time, either way, people visit here a lot so if you want to make a move into making a business here, there's a lot but you should ask some permission to the city government if they allow that, place is really cool, you should visit if you have some time

Located in the heart of the city, this local park is a perfect destination for a leisurely stroll with family and friends. The park offers an ideal setting to enjoy local flavors from street food vendors ( fish ball, tempura, Kwek2 and many more) Capture memorable moments with local photographers against the beautiful fountain backdrop. Unwind with affordable expert massages/reflex available every night. During the month long Fiesta celebration (August), lots of display booths placed here, showcasing local products. During Christmas season, the park is decorated with symphony of lights. Weekends are particularly lively, especially following Sunday services at San Agustin Cathedral, showcasing the park's warm community spirit and Filipino hospitality.
