Google
Honestly one of the best gyros I've ever had. Good sauce balance, well seasoned beef and lamb, great portions and very filling. The seasoned fries won't blow your mind but they round out an excellent gyro. Will definitely be coming back for more!

Google
The shrimp burrito and fish tacos were beyond delicious — packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. The hummus was insanely fresh. From the first bite to the last, everything was perfect. The vibes were on point, and the service made us feel like VIPs. Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. I’d give it 10 stars if I could! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
Tried this place after a long time of avoiding it based on the weird name(I thought it was a cheap ghost kitchen). Turns of the food is pretty fantastic and the portions are great for the price. I had the chicken plate and I will absolutely get it again soon - nothing on the plate missed.

Google
The gyros they offer are not what I consider the typical lamb or lamb/beef gyro that are made on a large vertical rotisserie. The gyro meat I have only eaten is served in thin strips and has lamb meat. The meat this restaurant uses is just what sure seemed like 97-99% ground pork with taco seasoning. It was not a good gyro. I have never a had a gyro that was made with ground meat and predominately ground pork. I thought it would be gyro meat on a rotisserie made up of lamb and pork. Very disappointing. Just like taco meat in a pita. The restaurant is well reviewed and it was busy. This is my take on their gyro.

Google
This is a cute place! The astomsphere is relaxing and the food is great! I got a gyro with fries. I was not disappointed! They nailed it with flavor and texture! The serving size was very filling! Plus the service was beyond just basic. They were very pleasant! Definitely worth the stop!

Google
Freindly staff prices I thought were okay until my honey got her lamb shank which was huge. Sauces and food tasted great highly recommend !

Google
Friendly service. Cute shop feels very European. Some outdoor cafe style seating. Ordered a gyro. It looked good. But after biting into it I felt like I was eating paper. Really thin pieces of tough lamb/beef. Thought I was getting something better with beef over pork . Ends crispy and dry. Not much meat at all. Also tried the polenta app it was interesting. Disappointed in the gyro

Google
yummy veggie plate!! they’re v accommodating too. got take out but i like the ambience there! kinda dark and moody with cute pics

Yelp
Excellent creative menu with something that should appeal to everyone in your group. I had the seafood burrito with octopus and it was heavenly.
google avatar

Ben C.

Yelp
Used to be the chunkiest amount of octopus on a plate. Delish bacon wrapped grape leaves are always ordered. Garlicky hummus yummy. No indoor seating, only orders to-go. Service is mediocre knowing they always get a lunch rush regardless of friendliness. During the spring to fall, a couple tables outside shaded by the building. Area still susceptible to sketchy passerbys.

Yelp
Gryo plate was fair , could NOT taste the meat . Deep fried ? small bits tasteless! Sorry but food bothered me . The Gyros is not the Greek sliced from spit but bits of meat ?hmmm . Service was good . It's a long wait at lunch . I might have ordered the wrong food!

Yelp
Casual little cafe serving Mediterranean food, great lunch spot and they serve some breakfast food too. No dinner since they close at 5 or 6. While they have a gyro they don't do as much of the kebabs and such but they have a good amount of seafood options. I've tried the lamb gyro which was different in taste & quality than what I'm used to. The lamb was ground and the flavor was a bit like spicy breakfast chorizo and not served w/ tzatziki. Tasted like a breakfast gyro. Still not sure if this is a plus or minus for me. I think I liked it once but I prefer the "regular" style gyro w/ tzatziki and the shaved lamb for its cooler less salty flavor. Also tried the brisket plate and octopus plate. Brisket I was not a fan of. The meat itself was tender and well cooked but it was covered in gravy so it tasted like a dish at a cheap diner or something a white grandma would make, not sure why it was on the menu. The polenta it came with was good tho - I liked that it was firmer. The octopus w/ squid ink rice was fantastic tho I think it's their star dish. It was so tender and full of flavor and the rice was very good too. My friend strangely thought the octopus was too soft even but I think it was perfect. The portion sizes were huge for the plates and they were only $15 & $17 for the octopus. My only complaint besides the brisket is no beer . You order at the counter and they bring your food out and you bus your table.

Yelp
I read several reviews that this place was amazing so I had to try it. I'm not sure if I caught them on an off day, but the food is nothing spectacular. I actually found their chicken mixture on the chicken plate to be too overwhelming with flavor and not as much meat. The mix had a lot of onions in it. The plate itself was good in terms of the pita, hummus, salad and saffron rice. Overall, I was disappointed based on the reviews I had read. It is very small on the inside, so seating is limited. The staff were all kind and welcoming.

Yelp
Wow this place is a hidden gem! Tucked away in some regular living building without any other store around you need to want to go here or live around! Either way it's just a short walk from the neighborhood stores like new season market. And if you like this style of Mediterranean food you are wanna go here! First you need to be hungry cause the portions size is decent even me was happy not ordered an appetizer. Second you should be a "meat" lover - or better protein lover since they do seafood as well. In a regular gyro you normally find at least 70% filler - meaning Salat, tomatoes and sauces and then the rest is protein. And that is fine since that is one of the reasons the Mediterranean kitchen is so healthy a good measure of the healthy stuff. But here at Gastro Mania they have 60% protein (in my case I ordered lamb&pork gyro) and then some salat with a good tzatziki and aioli to give it some spice. Also they make the head and grill the meat portion fresh so it is really hot when you get the gyro (which I really appreciate- hot food tastes better!). I had a small side salad (fresh and crispy) which added an extra USD so I ended up $13 before tip. There is a menu picture on yelp where it says $7 those times are long gone. But I think at the time of the review March 2024 $12 for this gyro is fair. I will surely be a regular even when I do not live in this part of the town any longer - but know I know it's here!

Yelp
Love this place!!! It's one of the best hidden gems in Portland. Bring your appetite because this place does not skimp in quantity. In fact, quality is far up there as well. I typically order their fish tacos, which, in my opinion, some of the best fish tacos you'll find in town and for a very fair price to top. Today, I ordered their seafood plate. It consists of salmon, tina, octopus, and shrimp over squid ink rice with a side of hummus, pita, and a salad. I was not disappointed. This is good eating.
google avatar

Anna Z.

Yelp
The seafood here SLAPS. I've tried the shrimp burrito and the octopus salad and both are so good. Flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection. They don't skimp out on the portion sizes either, there's protein in every bite. :) Service is speedy and prices are very reasonable, solidifying it as a hidden gem for lunch in the neighborhood!!
google avatar

Joseph C.

Yelp
Food was well prepared and delicious. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable. Great place for breakfast and lunch!
google avatar

Emily V.

Yelp
Friendly staff helped me navigate the menu (must avoid spicy additions, and some chefs add pepper to everything but dessert, so I'm forced to request full details so I'm not terribly ill afterward). It's rare to not be a regular and to have such warm and kind help to find what I can safely eat. Delicious luncheon of salmon plate was great value and delicious. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Order the octopus plate. You won't regret it! It's easily one of the best things I've eaten in Portland, and it's less than $20. It comes with salad, hummus and pita bread; I highly recommend getting the squid ink rice with it. I've never had octopus so tender on the inside but crispy on the outside. The staff was super kind and helpful, giving us more of the jalapeño sauce when we asked (because it was yummy). There's few seating available but I'm always surprised that it's empty when I've gone (probably because I've gone there when it just opened for the day). 10/10 would visit again if I find myself in Portland again.

Yelp
The flavor of the lamb-pork blend is utterly incredible. The service was quick and friendly. The restaurant feels cozy and nice, perfect for a casual outing or date.

Yelp
"BEWARE" If you're looking to get shook from fish tacos, Gastro Mania is the place for you. The first thing I noticed was how packed these tacos were with tender, succulent fish. Each bite was bursting with flavor, and the texture was absolutely perfect. But what really put these tacos over the top was the aioli sauce on top. I'm not sure what they put in it, but it was a perfect match for the fish and really elevated the dish. Beyond the food, I have to give a shout-out to the staff at Gastro Mania. They were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and really made me feel at home. It's no surprise that this place is a local favorite, and it's easy to see why. It's one of those spots that I consistently come back to, and I can't wait to see what other delicious creations they come up with in the future.

Lori M.

Yelp
Business must have changed ownership. Gyros are not at all the same as before, very greasy and Mexican spicy. Mostly burritos now on menu. The burritos may be good but I was looking for traditional gyro.

Sam S.

Yelp
Never had a bad meal here. It's always affordable/pre inflation prices. Nice people too

Yelp
I'm so glad this spot is still opened. The food is really good. Great post workout meal for us. They are fast and establishment is clean. My only issue is customer service. Everyone there was miserable and the older woman taking the order comes off as rude. No greeting, no smile and basically silent treatment. I said hi! She stared at me so I proceed to give her my order. Pay for it and I thanked her. She stayed silent except to tell my husband "your number!" It was our table number to place at our table. I'll still go back for sure, just not expecting a simple hello and thank you come again.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place and today is the day. Nice on the corner spot small cozy atmosphere I think I was transported to Greece for a minute. Menu inside is simple with a specials board. Nice seating. A few people already enjoying the establishment. I was greeted quickly as soon as the person before me ordered. I had the lamb and beef gyro they did not have only lamb but they did ask if I wanted rice or salad. It came a a few minutes enough time for me to gaze out the window counter seating and people watch. The pita was soft and chewy the lamb and beef was tender and flavorful. The sauce was not too very spicy but seemed to have some feta mixed in nice sautéed onions. Fresh ingredients. Displayed neatly brought to my seat with Napkins in a white ceramic plate. A great place for a friendly tasty lunch. Gyro for $10. Tip them!

Yelp
I LOVED the seafood burrito from here. So yummy and doesn't sit in your tummy like a lead balloon. I want to try more from here because the menu is so fun!

Jesse R.

Yelp
I never really leave reviews, but this is my 3rd or 4th time coming and I am just in awe of how tasty, well-balanced and filling their meals are. Everyone is pleasant and welcoming. I couldn't recommend this place enough.
google avatar

Keiki N.

Yelp
This spot is awesome, the squid ink rice in the burritos set it apart from other burritos in the city. Also the mix of squid and shrimp in the burrito is fire. It's a small space and next to some construction sites so it can get packed around lunch.

Violet L.

Yelp
This place Rocks!! I just moved into the apartment building next door a week ago and I have already eaten here at least 5 times and every single time it has been AMAZING. The chorizo burritos are to die for! $8 for a full sized burrito packed to the brim with eggs, chorizo AND a Hashbrown is totally worth the price! All of the employees are so kind and friendly especially at 8 am when I'm still asleep. My girlfriend and I are looking forward to trying the rest of the menu for lunch and dinner!

Cole T.

Yelp
I've had the Chef's Special salad & fish tacos. Both absolutely delicious & reasonably priced. Good, quick service. Highly recommend Gastro Mania.
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
Wow, so glad we came across this place!! I absolutely love Mediterranean food but never tried it with seafood as the protein option. We ordered the chefs special salad (salmon, tuna, shrimp, octopus, ink rice, and pita) and chicken plate. The flavors were incredible and we were impressed with the quality of the fish. The chicken plate was DELICIOUS!! The tzatziki was to die for and the hummus was really good as well. The pita wasn't anything special in my opinion and the restaurant itself didn't have any ambiance, but as a quick and casual lunch option this place is perfect! The portions are also great! Three of us split the two entrees with rice and pita leftover.
google avatar

Constance N.

Yelp
Big fans of GM! We've grabbed food from here a couple times and been really happy with what we were served. The gyro meat is a little different from what I've had in the past, but I'm not one to judge what is authentic. I just know what is delicious and that's what our meals have been! The staff is friendly and efficient and it's just a little neighborhood gym in our opinion.
google avatar

Adam Z.

Yelp
Solid food. I got the gyro with lamb and pork. The meat had a great texture. Juicy, meaty, spicy, not overcooked. Probably a little bit too oily. But the other things balanced it out. And the salad was nice. Overall it could have been a little larger though. And the pita bread could have been fresher. I was reading about how the owner is a classically trained chef from Europe or something and how the gyros used to be just $7. Since then it looks like various menu items have been removed and prices have gone up. Still pretty cool though.

Yelp
I was searching for good Mediterranean food in the Pearl and was so glad to have found this spot. Incredible food, fantastic price!
google avatar

Gabi K.

Yelp
Overall: New owners, same great menu, same great food. Come check this place out! Atmosphere: This place is right on the corner and it is tiny! All the tables are against the walls and mostly tall. It is an open kitchen, and there is a grill so if you are dining inside, expect to smell like food afterwards. Food: Chefs Special Salad is an all in one seafood dish and it is so good! All the seafood is seasoned and cooked very well. They also pack it to the top. The dish includes tuna, salmon, shrimp, and octopus with squid ink rice and toasted pita bread, very good. The dressing on there also compliments the food really well. Lamb Shank comes drizzled in porcini sauce on top of polenta with a salad and toasted pita. The lamb has been slow cooked and comes off the bone very easily. It just melts in your mouth. Very very good, highly recommend. Service: Great service! Super friendly staff!

Yelp
A delicious and unique twist on Mediterranean cuisine. The whole family loved their dishes. My two boys shared the chicken plate and it was large and filling (though I ate their salad, they ate my fries, and we ordered extra rice). My husband the chicken gyro which was cooked well and had great flavor. I had the beef brisket sandwich which was AMAZING...so rich, flavorful and juicy! It was definitely one of my favorite meals during my 5-day Oregon vacation. I'd definitely return on my next Portland trip.

Savannah S.

Yelp
The food here is literally amazing. my favorite lunch spot in Portland. The Salmon Plate is EVERYTHING. I love the vibe and the people. I feel healthier when I leave. Gastro Mania is the place to go if you want a delicious, healthy, and satisfying lunch option. :D
google avatar

Jenni B.

Yelp
Went here for the first time for lunch recently and got the chicken plate. It was delicious and a reasonable price for this part of town. One of the cheapest lunches you can get around here. The only drawback is the dining area is small, so if you haven't been here before you might want to consider just getting takeout like I did. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Marti D.

Yelp
Excellent quality food at a great price, interesting selection, and large portions. The pita on the gyro is light and tender, and I quite liked the jalapeño based sauce. These folks also understand extra crispy fries. My only quibble is that there's only one outdoor table. Since I bring my dog I like to be able to eat there rather than take it home.

Terry W.

Yelp
Not much to look at, order at the counter, bus your own table. BUT THE FOOD! Beyond excellent, I had the Tuna Gyro, it was packed with tuna, wonderfully seasoned and the Tzatziki just made the sandwich. My wife had the Pork and Lamb Gyrio plate with fries. Generous portions, delicious and crispy battered fries. The prices were better than fair. We'll be back.
google avatar

Jade C.

Yelp
Absolutely the best deal, food quality and service around! The homemade tiramisu is THE BEST I've ever had and large enough to share with 3 people!! Not many vegetarian options but the vegetarian plate or wrap is ALL you need cause it's that good!!! Love all the sandwiches, wraps and salads. You can't go wrong!
google avatar

Ashley Q.

Yelp
Ordered food for an office lunch. It quickly became a favorite. The food was amazing from the gyro plates, salad and appetizers. Service was wonderful. We will be back for more, thank you.
google avatar

Joyce S.

Yelp
Great food - octopus salad, gyros, bacon lamb & pork burgers & fries were all delicious! It's a small corner shop with self service. A little on the slower side depending on number of orders.

Eric A.

Yelp
Service is fast. Food was very affordable. The plate of food was large well balanced and a pleasant experience to eat.
google avatar

Katty T.

Yelp
Excellent food, portions and value. Delicious, like homemade, very fresh. Parking can be tough in this neighborhood though worth the efforts
google avatar

Alexus B.

Yelp
Got the salmon platter, great portions and fresh ingredients. Quick and great service.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Order ahead and take out for lunch at this small busy corner cafe. The salmon salad is plentiful and delicious. The side of rice and pita helped me feel full through dinner time. The fresh greens and bright dressing make this a very satisfying meal. With all the restaurants in the area, this is one of my top 5 for lunch.

Brian V.

Yelp
This place is bomb, I loved the seafood platter I got with salmon and shrimp, the squid ink rice is such a nice touch to a classic style dish I make at home (salmon/rice) overall great vibe inside and employees were nice.

Andrew D.

Yelp
Food was amazing, good vibes, service and prices. Definitely recommend the gyro but the breakfast burritos are also great.
google avatar

Charles C.

Yelp
Cute place a bit out of the way, but what a gem. Not much seating, 19 seats but well worth it. Came early for lunch, first customer and greeted by a friendly attendant and went with her recommendation for the Lamb Shank, but it all sounded tasty and the price was great Even though we did dine in, food served on paper, not good for waste, good is they have real silverware. Place looks to be more tailored to takeout. Lamb Shank: 5 stars, tender and fell right of the bone, really excellent Lamb and Pork Plate: 4 stars, good rice and humus If I lived out here this place would be most definitely be part of my weekly eat in/ take out rotation, yum!!
google avatar

Nyla H.

Yelp
Loyal diner to this joint it's so good and cannot be missed. I order from here weekly, fresh seafood and wide variety of protein choices make this never boring and always exceeding expectations. They have really nailed the art of delivery it always arrives like I'm right at the restaurant and being presented a plate artfully crafted. Thank you for every meal!!

David K.

Yelp
Incredible lamb shank and polenta plate! Amazing spicy sauce and salad to accompany. 11/10 definitely coming back.

Brad C.

Yelp
Excellent! A great reason to come downtown. Great food, great portions, great prices.

Yelp
Gastro earned acclaim for the best gyro in Portland when they were a food cart. Today was my first experience at their sit-down and they are still knocking it out of the park. I opted for the pork and lamb (their most popular option) gyro plate rather than a standalone "sandwich", the rice is so good. The side salad is kinda blah as the dressing doesn't speak Middle Eastern, it seems more fitting on an Asian salad. Moreover, their hummus is just average, a far second from that served at Nicholas' or Ya Hala. Be sure to ask for their excellent jalapeño relish, it complements the rice and pita well. We also ordered the Chef's Special Salad which included octopus, shrimp, tuna, and squid ink rice. Maybe a tad too much salt, but still good. Round out your meal with a very good version of Baklava. Their only miss is more of an irritation: the breakfast burrito is the first item listed on the menu, but its unavailable on weekends. Why? I'm sure it's some operational efficiency thing, but it's a pet peeve when restaurants limit hours or days for breakfast items. Crack and egg on Friday, crack it on Saturday or Sunday; even McDonalds serves breakfast all day. The staff is very friendly, paid street parking sucks, and prices and portions are fair.

Kevin M.

Yelp
The food here is extremely flavorful without taking shortcuts or being junky. Salmon plate - the squid ink rice is exploding with flavor, salmon cooked perfectly tender and dressed up with delicious seasoning and light dressing, this is a seriously delicious plate of clean eating. Very friendly and generous owner as well!
google avatar

Chad C.

Yelp
I've been to this place many a time and have rarely been disappointed! My typical go-to is the brisket sandwich. It comes with a small salad and some delicious dressing that I can't quite place. But - the meat and the little but of horseradish is the star of the show! It's always so flavorful and not too juicy to make the sandwich a disastrous mess. (At one point I the past, I tried another of their sandwiches, the pork belly I think - plan to at the very least make a napkin bib before diving in to this one!) Yesterday I tried the brisket plate. While it does cost a few dollars more than the sandwich, I think it's going to be my new go-to. The brisket is served in an extraordinary gravy and on top of a bit of polenta, with the small side salad and some flat bread. I missed the horseradish from the sandwich, but the savory gravy made up for it! The service is pretty swift, but note that the restaurant is very small, about 6-8 tables and you will be rubbing elbows with your neighbors. Weekday lunch is so busy people often at and outside to wait for their takeout orders, so if you have a big group, it might be best to get yours to go!

Yelp
We were in the area sampling some of the fine spirits at Bull Run Distillery when it was time for lunch. A quick yelp search guided us to Gastro Mania which was a short drive from the distillery so off we went. Found a parking spot right across the street and there a few seats open in this small neighborhood restaurant so timing worked out perfectly. Food: Wife went with the Salmon Salad for her lunch while I ordered the rack of lamb with a nice draft beer to wash it down. The food here was amazing! Plentiful and full of flavor. I love lamb and my chops were cooked perfectly served over a bed of rice. Several different sauces, a fresh salad, and pita bread made it a great lunch. The wife's salmon salad was also very good resting on a perfectly cooked bed of squid ink rice. Service: Good service, order at the counter, get a number, find a seat. Food came out very quickly and really a no frills kinda place. Not a fine dining establishment but great food at great prices in a comfortable space. Atmosphere: Small show, order at the counter. Clean, comfortable, indoor and outdoor seating. I would love to have a place like this in my neighborhood! Value: Outstanding value. My rack of lamb was $14, Salmon Salad was $10. Probably the best dollar to quality ratio I've had in a very long time! Overall: Great place, i'd love to come back and try some of their other dishes like the Chef Special Salad or the Foie Gras Burger!
