My $23 grilled chicken sandwich was virtually nonexistent on one side of the bread. The bread was regular toast. I asked for no onions but got onions anyway. Most of the other half of the sandwich (with the chicken) tasted good, except the last bite was all seasoning—something not enjoyable on heavy quantities. No refill offered on my drink and no offer to print out my receipt with tip included.

I came to Gastrohub ready to kick off my morning with a Bloody Mary… only to find out they don’t serve alcohol until 10 AM. No worries though — the day only got better from there! Lisa absolutely saved the morning with her awesome recommendations. I went with the fiery fries she suggested, and let me tell you, they were everything. Spicy, filling, and the perfect distraction from a Bloody Mary! Not only was the food on point, but the customer service was next-level. Lisa had my sweet tea refilled before I even realized it was getting low — and she even offered to send me off with one to-go! Southern hospitality at its finest. Highly recommend Gastrohub if you’re looking for great vibes, delicious food, and service that’ll have you smiling all day (even without the early-morning booze)!

I recently had the pleasure of being served by Lauren H, and I must say, her service was truly remarkable. It's been quite a while since we've experienced such attentive and genuine care. Lauren ensured that every aspect of our visit was enjoyable, going above and beyond to make us feel valued. Her friendly demeanor and professional approach made a lasting impression. We left incredibly satisfied and look forward to returning. Highly recommend!

Decent place for a quick bite and drinks while waiting for your flight! Chicken Tenders were okay, not as crunchy as I would have preferred. Blackened Shrimp Pasta was a huge portion with lots of big shrimps and creamy sauce.

Stopped here for a quick breakfast before my flight. I didn’t want a sugary pastry and opted for a heartier breakfast. I ordered the breakfast burrito and when Lisa found out I didn’t eat any of the proteins she named off, she suggested some other items I could add . I appreciated that. Great spot to catch up on work, messages and people watch. If you need to charge your phone- let the hostess know. Mine was nice enough to seat me right in front of one!

Awesome, perfect, tasty, hearty wedge salad. I got the wedge salad with a side of brisket. The brisket was not too impressive, but the salad was absolutely delicious. The blue cheese was not bitter, the tomatoes were nice and sweet, the lettuce was crispy, and the bacon added that final touch. I am not sure how something so simple could be so tasty, but I have been recreating it at home, and it just isn't quite the same. The hostess, Angela, was excellent. Another hostess took my name and disappeared while I stood there waiting. When Angela realized I was waiting, she assured me she would get me seated immediately. She went back, found a spot, and sat me down. Why the other hostess didn't do this? Unsure. I am happy Angela was there, as traveling is tiring. I would return, but I saw that another restaurant would be coming soon. I'm unsure if Landry’s will replace Gastro or if the sign just made it appear that way.

We had a super long layover so we were in no rush at all. Excellent service and those fries were AMAZING 🙌 Lisa was fantastic along with everyone else we interacted with!

Yelp
Solid | TVs | Fiery Fries Solid - The restaurants offer a solid and reliable experience typical of an airport bar. With ample seating available, there's plenty of room for travelers. The menu offers a good selection, featuring around five to six entrées alongside a five starters. To complement your meal, you can choose from about six mixed cocktails and a handful of intriguing side dishes. It's a simple yet satisfying lineup that promises something for everyone! TVs - The space features around ten televisions, making it an ideal spot to catch a game. You'll find various areas equipped with views of the screens, ensuring that almost any seat allows you to enjoy at least two different TV displays. The atmosphere is lively and perfect for sports fans looking to relax before their flight. Fiery Fries - The fiery fries were a delightful explosion of flavors, featuring a tantalizing blend of cilantro, chipotle sauce, and a kick of Cajun seasoning. While it sounds a bit daring on paper, it turned out to be a mouthwatering! The array of sauce options they provide were great: dipping those fries in the sauces, especially the ketchup, was pretty epic! Why not 5 stars? The experience was not extraordinary. It was solid, but nothing remarkable stood out. The space was quite crowded, and the noise level was very loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. Additionally, people kept bumping into the backs of our chairs, which detracted from the overall experience.

Yelp
To be frank and to the point this place was not good. Our server was only saving grace as he was kind and tried hard. The food was just not good. It was really slow for very basic items and the table next to us who ordered 2 of the same items we did and sat down 15 minutes after us got theirs first. It was just a long wait for poor tasting food. Also not really a gastro pub as the beer election on draft was limited and no real craft. I don't like to leave negative foods but highly suggest trying something else.

Yelp
Extremely expensive for the amount of of food served. The food was mediocre at best! It looked good but the Burger and fries were not hot. The salad tasted good and was the highlight of our meal. The burger and salad cost $43. Service was good and our server was extremely attentive.

Yelp
Food was great! Boyfriend had a juicy burger. It was cooked perfectly and wasn't messy and didn't fall apart as he munched on it. It came with large fries which we opted for the "fiery" version. That made them slightly spicy which was good. They are large wedge cut fries, and we added a side of queso cheese to dip them in. I had the mussels, they were fantastic! Comes with two bread wedges to nibble on dipped in the juices afterwards. I had a regular Bloody Mary which wasn't something to write home about. Service was good but busy. Our server was very attentive and funny.

Yelp
I guess this place is going to change soon, but it fit what we needed. We ordered the smoked nachos and the BBQ belly ribs, plus drinks. The nachos were actually good - really thin chips piled up like a mountain, with jalapenos, pico de Gallo, and a green salsa on the side. Just a few chips ended up doggy. Ribs were tasty and the fries were just right. Airport pricing, but a good alternative to fast food.

Yelp
Stopped for a quick bite between flights on a Wednesday afternoon and were promptly seated with friendly service. Large seating area and lots of bar seats. We shared the Smash burger, which had a nice sweet tang from the BBQ sauce and onions, and upgraded to wedge fries with a spicy sauce. Fries had a lingering little kick to them, we liked them, but would opt for regular fries next visit. The food arrived quickly, and we were out in 30 minutes. Overall, a pleasant stop and worth visiting again. Great place to spend a longer lay over as well. Based on expectations, giving 5 stars!

Yelp
Gastrohub has wonderful fiery fries. I opted to substitute fiery fries instead of regular fries. They are spicy and addicting! The chicken tenders were actually tender and had a good crust. The service was fast and our server was very nice.

Yelp
It's sort of a sports bar/restaurant located inside of Houston's Hobby Airport. The Wedge Salad (huge chunk of iceberg lettuce with blue cheese dressing and crumbles and bacon, although you can never have enough bacon) was good but not amazing. The Smashed BBQ Burger (cheese, BBQ sauce) was better. The fries were very average. The food was good. It's not great but it is better than average. Service was friendly but extremely slooooow. It's not bad for airport food.

Yelp
Located behind Wendy's - nicer than fast food options. Done in restaurant. Nice greeter and waiter.

Yelp
Even though the airport was busy I was able to grab a seat. The wait time was quick, I had a mimosa and a burger. The burger was cooked to perfection and the staff was friendly.

Yelp
Layover in Hobby, this is a must try. They had drink specials . Bartenders and servers were smiling and pleasant. The turnaround time between tables was very good. We had drinks and chicken tenders . Everything came out hot and fresh . The drinks were good and not too strong . The restaurant looked like a typical bar restaurant. It was spacious enough to not worry about people tripping over your luggage.

Yelp
Having flown a good bit lately, I was shocked that a glass of wine here is DOUBLE what it is in Denver, Atlanta and BWI airports. The food was nothing special with prices only slightly higher than typical, but that $30 for 9 ounces of a basic wine is price gouging. Im not talking about fine wine, I'm talking about wine that cost $14 a bottle at any wine store. I won't be back

Yelp
The food was SO good and the service was even better! Our waitress, Lauren, was amazing! Better than best! Love the atmosphere in this quaint cute little restaurant at the airport!

Yelp
This is a sport bar located in Hobby airport. Our flight was late and our flight was rebooked so had to eat at the airport. I don't look at prices at the airport because I know it will be expensive. We arrived and were stand outside because there is hostess booth, waiting and waiting and as we were going to leave a young lady said there is no hostess grab a seat and handed us menus. Table: we found small table for two and sat down. My chair had something on it, I wiped it off. The table was clean. There is debris on the floor, but this is airport and busy place. They are working hard as fast as they can to keep the place clean. Service: fast and excellent. The girls are working hard to service customers, keep drinks filled, get food out, and get bills paid. Beer: order Hopiddio on draft and shared a few glugs with my husband. It came out quick and cold. Food: we got the Smash burger to share. They were kind and split it for us and gave us fries. The food came out temperature hot. It is not a big burger, medium size about 4 bites on a half burger. The burger was greasy and juicy and bun was toasted with nice tomato and lettuce. Great burger. The fries were temperature hot and they were crunchy on outside and soft on the inside.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised with the most delicious corn ribs! They were fantastic with a nice creamy sauce. Definitely worth a try if you like corn. Service was quick and friendly. It's in an airport so it's busy but they do a good job to provide plenty of space between tables!

Ben P.

Yelp
Our server was good but the hostesses were visibly irritated to have to deal with customers and stayed up front gossiping. Our entrees were fast food quality at restaurant prices. If you want a sandwich or a burger, save your money and just go around the corner to Wendy's.
google avatar

Yelp
Visited Gastrohub during layover in Houston and was pleasantly surprised. Although the chicken strips could have used another strip, they were tasty and the honey mustard was great. The tomato soup was flavored really well and hit the spot. Service was quick and we were not rushed out. There are definitely worse places you can visit in the airport.
google avatar

Gayl B.

Yelp
So, yes, it's expensive! My hamburger was, however, just perfect. Of course, I'd been on a cruise for the last 8 days and eating everything but hamburgers, so there's that. Service was friendly and efficient. Would I go back here if I found myself hungry and passing thru this airport again? Absolutely!
google avatar

Janiah S.

Yelp
First time here while waiting for our flight. It's a nice lil restaurant spot you can eat at before checking in and going through security. We ordered a bacon burger which was very good, bacon was good too. Ordered a chicken nacho that was pretty good, the nacho cheese has a nice Smokey flavor. And we ordered the chicken fingers, now these were dare I say, in the top 5 BEST chicken fingers I've ever had. I'm not sure if it was the super crispy and nicely seasoned batter or the sweet Dijon bbq sauce stuff u dip them in. WOWZERS! Lastly, we also tried the firey flies. I had high hopes for these, the sauces on top were good but scarce and the fresh chopped jalapeños were good too but I felt like something was missing on these. Will have to try the upgraded $2 more for the cheese sauce, that may do the trick!
google avatar

Joshua S.

Yelp
For an airport, not bad. The food was good, the prices were high of course, but our server was great. They were out of a couple items on their menu and some of the dishes were incomplete but the server gave us extra of what they had. The chicken fingers were impressive, the burger was good, the flautas were decent and the fries were subpar. The spicy Margarita was excellent. Overall, I'd come back.

Yelp
Unfortunately disappointing but unfortunately expected. That's what we get for wanting a table service meal during a 3-hour Hobby Airport layover. What a sad airport. It seems there were only 2 choices available and others closed or under renovations per the airport map. Gastrohub was full and we got the last table next to the kitchen. Servers were covering a number of tables. Ours was ok in the beginning to take the order but then basically disappeared unless we waved for attention. For $25.95 I got 4 BBQ baby ribs, a scoop of cold slaw and a pile of cold French fries. I told another server that my fries were cold and she said she would get hot ones. She disappeared and never returned (I watched the food prep people adding fresh fries to other orders). I told our server and after we finished our meal I got a bowl of very hot fries. These were the best tasting part of my meal. My friend's Mussels entree was overcooked and chewy. While he loves mussels, he couldn't finish. Our server brought the credit card machine to the table with the tip percentage choices screen (18-20-22%). No words acknowledging us. I guess it was self-service because the server left and never came back. I pressed "Print receipt" but it said Error out of paper. Just go to Wendy's nearby.

Jullie A.

Yelp
Lisa did an awesome job taking my order and quickly getting my food! She was very friendly!

Peter C.

Yelp
The worst service. The bartenders are rude and obviously hate their jobs and waiting on people. No eye contact, tossing menus and silverware at customers. I'm one of 8 people sitting at the bar that sits 18 people so not busy. The bartenders are clearly disinterested in working here.
google avatar

Jurel H.

Yelp
It's hard to find a place at the airport. that everyone in your traveling group, can find something worth eating. Gastrohub is a nice place to tryout for some decent food that includes burgers, salads, pasta and even more. There's even a bar located here. Understand though, as busy as this small place can be. The service is still good and they are more accommodating.

Rick G.

Yelp
Ivy was the best!!! This young lady, not only gave great service but was one of the friendliest people I've ever met in Houston. If I had a business here, I would hire her away from your establishment to work for my company. That's how good she is.
google avatar

Maria B.

Yelp
Jackie made our experience here a real pleasure! She was welcoming, thoughtful and friendly. We just got introduced to her manager, Ramon and he was amazing, very supportive of his staff. They are all excellent in customer service. We had bar service so can't comment on the food although it looked delicious. A definitely come to place when we're traveling through HobbyAirport.
google avatar

Joe P.

Yelp
Sat down to eat server extremely rude with an attitude like it was a bother we were there. So bad we just got up and went somewhere else. This review is for service not food.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Jackie D and Chris are the best !!!! Quick easy spot to get a seat - massive bar. Not sure if this is pet friendly or not but my baby girl sat with us at the bar. Great staff, service and a shit ton of tvs.
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
Service is friendly, but food is atrocious. The soup was 100% from a Campbell's can, and the wedge salad was pre-packaged as well (still had the shape of the package after dumped on top of the salad). I get airport mark-up, but this quality is just offensive.

Hanna W.

Yelp
Angela the hostess, Miguel the server, and the manager John were soooo friendly and accommodating. I have dietary restrictions and that makes going virtually anywhere such a pain and my options are limited. They were all very welcoming and happy to work with me on what food I could order safely.
google avatar

Carlton C.

Yelp
Not bad for airport dining. The Flautas plate was delivered with only 2 but they brought out 3 more shortly after. The burger was good but not at all "smashed" as the name indicates. The Bloody Mary was also good.
google avatar

Mel W.

Yelp
TVs to catch up on some football, gorgeous bar, decent selection of food options. & Mahogany is the best server!

Jake W.

Yelp
I had the smoked chicken nacho in the morning, it was actually very good. Big pile, crispy chips, decent chicken, and good flavor. Airport pricing is expected, but they serve good food that makes the value worth it and fair.
google avatar

Kailas N.

Yelp
Probably the worst airport food I've had. Super expensive and bland at best. Service was relatively quick but inattentive. Ambiance was standard loud crappy airport sit down Wish we went to the food court
google avatar

Frankie M.

Yelp
Heinously overpriced and disgusting food delivered too quick to be fresh. I had a lukewarm oyster poboy that tasted like it had been sitting out all day; called it quits after 2 bites. The tomato bisque is legitimately akin to Campbell soup with some basil garnish and 4 croutons. The hosting/serving staff is absolutely lovely though and still tipped my server 22% because it's not her fault the food sucks.
google avatar

Wesley S.

Yelp
Terrible.... So sad.... This was probably one of the worst airport restaurant experiences I have had. So sad the old pappadeaux was so great. Food... I had a Caesar salad not sure how you mess that up. The lettuce was super soggy. Almost no dressing. The chicken is a shredded mush mess of "maybe" it's chicken. Taste terrible. The chicken nachos were worse. The cheese was worse than theater nacho cheese. The service was bad and we sat at the bar. The concept of local restaurants replacing the chains sounded good but if this is what to expect at hobby airport going forward, that's not good. The ambiance is the same as before no changes to the layout.

Beth W.

Yelp
The food and service were amazing! I had their tomato soup and added brisket. It was delicious! And Angela couldn't be more accommodating and so very friendly. She moved me as well to accommodate my comfort.

Lydia R.

Yelp
Food was pretty good until the second of my chicken tenders tasted like that fatty grisly taste so I had to stop eating then. Waited 20 min for a beer, asked several times for ranch that I never got, and didn't receive napkins til the end of the meal. I ordered a 16oz beer and he dropped off at 20oz. It was so hard to get the server's attention at all, even to check out. Again, this is an airport!! Service should be quick!!
google avatar

Aisha B.

Yelp
Absolutely awful food. The nacho cheese on the nachos tasted like lighter fluid mixed with chemical cheese. The panini with turkey ham was also excruciating to bite into. Not only did it look unappetizing, it tasted like cardboard. The icing on the shit cake was the $5 for a bottle of water and slow service
google avatar

Sabih R.

Yelp
Drinks were pricy ($13 shit, $15 cocktails), but the espresso martini was done well. It's an airport bar so you can't expect a lot, but I'd tuck my head here again if waiting on a flight and craving a drink.
google avatar

Adam S.

Yelp
Made it to Hobby Airport early and stopped in for breakfast which was very good. Becky took care of all our needs, was very attentive, and the conversation wonderful.

Yelp
Southwest terminal late night has limited options, yet Gastrohub had some charm. Sitting in the indoor "patio" area, people watching passengers falling over their luggage and pet poodles as they run to their flights, eating loaded chicken nachos, I was able to truly take in the full experience one can only Joe for in the Houston Hobby Airport. Judging by the spice level and vibrant green slices, the jalapeños were definitely fresh. The shredded chicken made the nachos a tad too watery but the top 2/3 of the pile are worth the nosh. Also my server was super sweet, attendant and fast. Upon serving the nachos, she could already foresee the mess I was about to create and proactively brought me more napkins - top notch service right there! She also quickly pulled up an extra chair for me to place my bags on, informing me that it was bad luck to place your purse and backpack on the ground. Being one for superstition, I willingly abided. The lights in the airport that shine onto the patio portion are not the soft warm lights. They're sadly the bright white lights that keep you wide awake, semi-stressed and on edge. Of course, Gastrohub cannot control this and the lights in the actual bar area were a lot more inviting.
google avatar

Miss G.

Yelp
I am confused by some of the poor reviews. We really enjoyed the food. So much so my husband said "this is probably the best airport food I have had". We ordered the nachos to share and daughter ordered chicken tenders. Nothing was disappointing and hope to have the gate again on future flights!

timothy b.

Yelp
Food not good. Service and personality of the staff not good. Not many choices in the airport -- taco place packed this place not should provide insight.
google avatar

Niamh F.

Yelp
Worst place I've been in a while. The attitude is the person behind the bar was of someone who hates her job. Rude, loud, inattentive and slams things on the bar. I hope it was just a bad day for her because if not she needs to get a new calling in life. She's NEVER survive in a pub where people were regulars. I'd avoid this place.
google avatar

Travel M.

Yelp
We stop through the Houston airport a few times per year. We've eaten here twice. Service is timely and courteous but drinks coming from the bar take a while and the food has been hit or miss with temperature. Cleanliness looks just okay but the menus are filthy. This time around I had the Oyster poboy and the oysters were so chewy I couldn't swallow them. Definitely not close to fresh. Also everything is over priced. Probably won't eat here again.

Taylei I.

Yelp
Around 6:26 pm on July 3rd at GastroPub in Houston HOBBY the restaurant reeked of dirty mop water and she's over there on her phone. The waiter didn't update us on the status of our food. There was a couple that got seated after us and they received their food fairly quickly (they ordered something similar to us) We sat for 45 minutes being pestered by gnats and large flies. We also had to ask multiple times for to go boxes and our cards back. Not cool -10000/10000

Jimmy P.

Yelp
The hostess named "Desire" pulled the - it's not my job card when asked if she could clean the table that she told us we were waiting for. She wanted to sit us at the bar. We have a service dog and asked if we could have a table that was away from everyone. The table was dirty - so she told us she would get someone to clean it. After waiting and waiting for the table to be cleaned I asked the hostess if she could use the sanitizer and cloth in a bucket - that was situated on a chair right in front of the hostess stand - to clean the table. She replied - it's not my job. Needless to say we chose to go eat at another establishment in the airport that deserved our money. I travel through this airport a lot and will not be patronizing a place that doesn't put its customers first.
