New Eastern European Restaurant Brings Pierogies to Austin | Eater Austin

"A new casual Eastern European restaurant in North Shoal Creek opened at 3301 Steck Avenue on Friday, July 20, taking over the former Marakesh Cafe and Grill space. The regional menu covers Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, and Romanian cuisines, with offerings such as pierogies, herring, borscht, schnitzel, grilled veal tongues, beef stroganoff and mamaliga (a yellow maize flour–based porridge); the beer and wine list emphasizes Eastern European selections. Owners Taras Klitchyk (from Ukraine) and Tatiana Bogdanovych (from Russia) started the spot after noticing growing interest in Slavic foods through their Borderless European Market grocery in North Austin. The restaurant’s name means “gates” in Polish. Current hours are noon–8 p.m. Monday–Thursday and noon–9 p.m. Saturday, with lunch and brunch service planned for the near future." - Nadia Chaudhury

You don't need a ticket to see the Gates of Dawn. Just remember to be quiet and respectful when going inside. It's a really beautiful place of worship, and I was glad I had the chance to see it. Do budget some time in your trip to Vilnius to visit the Gates of Dawn.

Interesting place of worship. Remember to be respectful (wear full length trousers, covered shoulders). Tourists can go inside around religious services. More information about the place’s history would be helpful.

Ostra Brama is an extraordinary place, deeply meaningful for Poles and for the Polish community. It carries the weight of history and national pride, creating a strong sense of connection with the old homeland. Visiting it is both moving and emotional – it truly touches a sensitive chord in the heart of anyone arriving from Poland. It is also an important site of religious pilgrimage, a sacred destination for those for whom faith is essential. A place of memory, spirituality, and identity – unforgettable.
