"Local chef and restaurateur Terry Laybourne owns this quayside pub. The ground floor is a cosy, rustic place, perfect for some ‘Geordie Tapas’ and a regularly changing ale or two, while upstairs, in the dining room, they serve hearty pub classics." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

The Gateshead Millennium Bridge is a stunning example of modern engineering and design, linking Gateshead and Newcastle over the River Tyne. Its unique tilting mechanism, resembling a “blinking eye,” is both functional and mesmerizing to watch in action. The sleek, arched structure is particularly beautiful when illuminated at night, casting reflections on the water. Offering scenic views of the river and surrounding landmarks, it’s a favorite spot for photographers and visitors alike. While weather and timing for the tilt might affect the experience, the bridge remains a must-see icon of innovation and elegance.

I call this bridge the Gay Bridge because of the lights at night. Here are some funky pictures of it from different angles. With lots of sunsets.

As far as bridges go, Newcastle has some of the best. At night they look so much better so going just before is best as you see it in the day and night.

This has to be my favourite bridge in England to walk across or sit on and ponder life whilst enjoying my surroundings. Just wonderful it is.

The coolest bridge ever!!! You can have a sit in the middle and enjoy the view. It's magnificent. Even you can feel the wind moving the bridge and the noise of the bikes crossing, it is a great experience. I wish I could have seen it when it tilts. Nevermind, it's an award winning bridge design!

I love this bridge, walking at night/morning, sunset/sunrise, winter/summer. It’s such an icon for Newcastle. From the number of photos, you can tell how much I love it. Great design, welcomes everyone, runners, cyclists, walkers, children or walking your pet. It gives Newcastle a modern and stylish touch.

You can't miss this bridge when walking the quayside, illuminated in the evening it makes for a stunning sight. Not only photogenic but also incredibly practical as it allows access to Gateshead from Newcastle and vice versa. The bridge also tilts to allow boats through which is an interesting watch. When walking across it at busy times you may notice a slight 'bounce' in the bridge, really strange feeling but I'm sure it's solid so nothing to worry about!
