With so many food and drink options, I wanted to love Gather GVL.
I visited with a group of friends on a Saturday evening. We chose this open-air food court because everyone could find something to eat and pay their own tab. That's not always possible at a restaurant that has limited choices and combines checks for large parties. We reserved space upstairs (for a fee). I would highly recommend this for a group event.
Parking was tough, as every lot in the area was full. Some lots are expensive- one was $10, but some were $5 and a few street spots if you're lucky to score one.
Inside in the food court, Gather GVL was *packed*. Ironically, I saw remnants of "Stay 6 Feet Apart" social distancing signs on the ground. This venue is outdoors, but it can be overwhelming (and noisy) on a Saturday night, which is likely why dogs are not allowed on weekends.
You can order from multiple stalls, including pizza, Mexican, lobster rolls, chicken, fries, burgers, acai bowls, and other options. It's hard to tell where the queues/lines begin and end for each dining option. Once you order, you receive a buzzer and can go get your food from the stall, and when I did, I wasn't sure which line was for picking up and which was for ordering. I finally found my order sitting on the counter.
For food, I opted for Mercado Cantina, where I had the fried shrimp tacos and chips and queso. The shrimp tacos come on multiple tortillas, but I still had to eat them with a knife and fork. The chips and queso were nothing special, but easy to share and soak up some booze.
I didn't drink anything, as I was the DD, but they offer everything from frozen alcoholic drinks to Mezcal to beer. You've got plenty of beverage options and can even get Frozen Wine (Frose) Flights.
I like the concept of Gather GVL and would return. However, I would come back on a weekday or a less crowded time and would opt for a different meal.
